I was staying at the host hotel, and had been to this location before, so I figured, I couldn't go wrong grabbing dinner here. I sure was mistaken. The service was very slow. We had a party of six, and though we were ready to order, by the time we'd gotten drinks and had a chance to order, it'd already been thirty minutes. And its not like the place was packed, I think there were three other tables occupied. I ordered a steak, and it was probably the most disappointing dish I've had in a long time. I prefer my steak medium-rare, and it came out very rare, though it did have a nice sear to it. Honestly, this didn't bother me much, just the first thing I noticed. What did bother me was a thick slab of what I'm guessing was silver skin that hadn't been properly removed from the steak. I couldn't even cut through it with the provided steak knife. I ended up having to slice horizontally to get any meat off. A lot more effort than it was worth. We were out for a nice evening, so we ordered some dessert options as well. Two weeks ago, I stayed at Tysons Corner Hilton for a week while attending a work conference. While the experience at the hotel overall was less than stellar, the Harth dining experience was quite the opposite. My team arrived at this establishment on Thursday at 6 PM with a party of 13. While my team didn't have a reservation, the establishment was able to accommodate us within 5 minutes of us arriving. After we were seated, we collectively ordered every 'small bite' possible. However, I tried two of those that were ordered, which included Hunters Board and the Calamari. Hunters Board: This board had cheddar, Asher Blue, Providence Goat, beef salami, lomo, Chesapeake salami, and olives. I was "wowed" by the Asher Blue. This cheese had a slightly pungent, mushroomy aroma and was earthy and mild. This cheese also had a creamy-crumbly texture as it has a semi-firm consistency, being soft, dense, and hard all at the same time. I actually ate a whole wedge off of one of the boards that was ordered. The lomo was also a standout for me as it was tender, juicy, and slightly salty. This paired well with the Asher Blue. For folks who haven't experienced lomo, it's like beef tenderloin, which is one of the most tender and leanest cuts of meat. Calamari: The slightly charred calamari was perfectly crisp and tender. The combination of cumin and peppers was 'punchy' but not overpowering. Main Dish: Aside from the bites, many main courses were ordered by the group. I ordered Casarecce Pasta with shrimp. I thoroughly enjoy a good casarecce as its shape makes them perfect for holding sauces. The sauce for this dish was perfect as the Mascarpone cheese was slightly sweet and a tad bit tart, which balanced out the garlic used for the dish. As a group, we ordered just north of 1k worth of food and drinks. The service we received was timely and pleasant. If I were in the area again, I would frequent this location again. read more

Harth is the restaurant in the Hilton Hotel in McLean. We have been enjoying the Harth Lounge and this review is for the morning breakfast. They had a selection of breakfast meals to include a Continental Breakfast and a full Buffet breakfast. While the full buffet is a bit pricey ($30), frankly it's not atypical for hotel restaurant breakfasts these days. The full buffet does include coffee and orange juice. My husband and I took my mom to Härth recently and had a wonderful dinner. I'd been a bit skeptical since it's a hotel restaurant, but it was fantastic and I highly recommend giving it a try. If anything, it's a little more comfortable than many restaurants in Arlington and DC because there's more elbow room. They also have a nice-looking patio with seating and fire pit that we're looking forward to trying when the weather is a little less toasty. The food is basically sophisticated southern cuisine. Our amazing server, Michael, said they had recently changed the menu. Among the three of us we had the filet, the pork chop, and the "Bad Hunter" (cauliflower steak - the name alone made me want to get that one) for entrees. The ambiance of the restaurant is cozy, warm, and feels like the perfect place a hallmark movie couple would go for a fireside chat. As far as the food goes, I highly recommend the crispy skin salmon cooked medium. The skin was indeed perfectly crispy as advertised and the hollandaise sauce completed it wonderfully. The only down side to the dish is that it doesn't come with a side, so if you have a larger appetite, perhaps order more. Lastly, the only thing worth mentioning regarding the deduction to their score is the service. Harth is located in an extremely beautiful hotel that elicits a new wave, futuristic vibe, and the restaurant, Harth, is situated just to the left of the hotel bar, far enough removed that you will not be bothered by any noise from the lobby/bar. My girlfriend and I were in a rush to make a night bus tour of the DC area so we split a charred broccoli salad. It was very unique as it had no lettuce! Just a bunch of healthy greens, some fruit and / or pecans, topped off by adding the protein of chicken. The chicken was warm and very delish. To our surprise it cost $10 to add the freaking chicken! All in the salad was close to $30!! When you are on vacation you are meant to spurge, and I enjoyed everything about this stop in before the DC night tour and if you are in the area definitely recommend stopping in to experience it for yourself. I'll start off by saying this place is getting 4 stars from me considering it's a hotel restaurant, otherwise it would get 3. The restaurant itself is nice, quiet, simple and modern. The staff are all super nice and really make you feel like they're taking care of you. We went and I guess there was some audition taking place at the hotel and the night felt like chaos. The service was extremely slow and even the manager had to come and apologize everything was taking so long. She offered us a free dessert, but we were there so long we just wanted to leave. Anyways on to the food, the broccoli was pretty good! Interesting take on broccoli! The flatbread was nice - not too hot or sweet. My husband enjoyed his steak and thought the chimichurri was a nice touch. I had the sea scallops that were pretty good, but was not a fan of the purée and fixings. For a hotel restaurant, the food was better than expected. Also more expensive than expected.. basically spent what I would've going somewhere in DC! I went to this place twice. Once for dinner, due to me staying at the hotel, and just needing something and once for breakfast, because it's at the hotel. Let's discuss breakfast first. In hindsight, I should have gone Avocado Toast because it probably had seasoning. Instead, I chose the omlette with egg whites, spinach, and mushrooms. I also went with the wood fired hash browns (it's an included option) and added a bagel toasted with butter as an add-on. The omlette came with tomatoes, which wasn't on my selection and no mushrooms. It's a regular size omlette but I always eat only 50%. It had zero seasoning. Zero flavor. The hash browns were greasy and just not good. Four bites and move on. They have only plan bagels. PLAIN. How is this possible, when I've been to a Hilton in Turkey that had an everything bagel and other options. The best component of said breakfast - the bagel. Dinner. As a flexitarian limited choice awaited, since a mussel or clams, which uh there is this thing called the bay near you that has them wasn't on the menu. Shrimp was a no-go, either. I went with the Honey chicken breast with root veggies. I selected this because it was my only choice being a flexitarian, and I didn't want the 100% veggie thing that would have worked. Just needed some protein. Plus, it lists it as wood grilled or on their flame thing If I hadn't read on another Yelp review that the honey comes from their own Honey Bees thing on the roof, I'd have no idea. The chicken had that nice honey flavor and was very juicy. But had I not read, it was wood grilled, I'd have no idea. I should have tasted every so slightly that smoked flavor, IMO. Anyway, it was good. Large portion. I ate just 50%. The root veggies were heavy on brussel sprouts, which were Charred and not in a bad way. What's with the love of these nasty buggars? Just say the dish is Brussel sprouts and call it even. I couldn't figure out if the light sauce that was on the other veggies, green beans, and whatver else veggie was there, was the walnut dressing they added to the arugula that had the chicken on, because my server had no clue. I asked if the veggies were sprinkled with some light Parma cheese or something like that because it was hard to gauge. He didn't know. I got sick afterward, back in the room, and my gut (no pun here) tells me it was whatever was on the veggies, it might just be that walnut thing, and an allergy hit, but it was something in that liquid. Their continental buffet is above average if u want to eat pastries and cold items like yogurts, parfaits, cereal, and pastries table. I liked the convenience of the restaurant being in the hotel since I was only there overnight. I dined here alone because I was traveling for work. The space itself is very beautiful really enjoyed the atmosphere there. It was a quiet early evening. I ordered a smoked old fashioned and it was okay. I've had a lot of old fashioned drinks and this one hit the mark on its booziness but not necessarily on balance. I think maybe it needed to be stirred or perhaps there was a little too much of one thing or just what my pallet wanted? Again, not bad but not amazing either. I only had one. I had the burger with no bun and ordered it medium. It was a little too pink but I like things rare so it wasn't a dealbreaker and it tasted great. The side of vegetables were REALLY good. Their cappuccino was a great nightcap although I asked for a decaf but was up all night so not sure if it actually was decaf :P The best part of my experience here was the staff, as they were extremely friendly. Let's talk Härth at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. I saw their ad in this group for a three course meal for $49 per person. We went to the restaurant and were welcomed by Rachel, the food and beverage director. We were the first customers tonight and it turns out they have only recently opened for dinner with a new French chef, Laurent Hollaender. We ended up not ordering from the prix fixe menu, even though it's a great deal with the filet mignon itself being $49. It will be there through July. We shared the excellent calamari and I saw tarte flambee Alsacienne on the menu but the waiter didn't know much about it. I wanted to know if it was anything like the Flammkuche or Tarte Flambee we know from southwestern Germany and the Elzas. Chef Laurent himself came to our table and he actually grew up in the Elzas (it's where my husband's family comes from). He personally vowed the tarte flambee is authentic and it is! I can't tell you how excited we are! We have not *ever* found a true Flammkuche in the US! The charcuterie plate is all locally sourced cheese and meats and Laurent is clearly excited about everything here. To end our meal Laurent and Rachel sent a plate of scallops and they're amazing! The carrot puree and capers, pine nuts and other ingredients we didn't recognize are the perfect companions. Other things that we learned is that their honey is very local. I have been here many times over the last 2 years and they are a solid 3. 1. Location - good Well they are located inside the Hilton hotel, so they have a lot of the guests dining there, so they don't try too hard to get business. However, if you know better, there are way better restaurants to eat than here in the neighborhood. 2. Service - bad They are super slow to seat you. Why? because no one is ever at the stand to get your info and seat you and you cant just go in and seat yourself because the servers will keep telling to go back and wait to be seated. That will take forever and anyone who values their time will get annoyed right away. Once seated, servers aren't that nice and rushed despite NEVER ever being full. I expect to get more attention when you have only 2-3 tables to serve. I would understand if the place was ever packed, but Harth is not popular enough to be in that state. 3. Service is indifferent at best at the bar too. So where you sit really doesn't matter. 4. Food - not that good, beautiful display I think I had the entire menu at this time and they taste okay, nothing special especially for the price. 5. However we ordered four appetizers that could probably feed four people. The table bread came with a nice homemade jam. That was pretty good. Wonderful dining experience! Khalila was great at helping us navigate the menu, especially my husband who was a bit intimidated and looking for something simple. I've never had more overpriced mediocre pizza and wine in my life. I spent close to $50 on one glass of wine, a tip, and a very average flat bread. The $28 breakfast buffet was enough to really sour my experience. I'm just not sure how you can get away with charging that for breakfast... A few scrambled eggs, some bacon, fruit and yogurt. Since we were going to Tysons Corner today and wanted to try someplace new, I went and made a reservation for 5 p.m. (on a Saturday). It was very easy to use the link to Open Table that appears on Yelp's listing. We got here a few minutes early but were given dinner menus and seated right away. Our server came by with the drinks menu and gave us some time to decide. I chose a pomegranate mojito while my husband got a glass of Malbec. We were given a bread basket with 4 slices of bread in it, along with a small cup of butter with poppy seeds on top and another cup with their bacon jam. That bacon jam was superb! The sweetness of the honey and the saltiness of the bacon melded together very well, with the bacon flavoring coming through. We look forward to having this again! The pomegranate mojito was tasty although I felt it could have used a bit more pomegranate flavoring. While my husband liked his Malbec, he said that he has had better. He couldn't remember what type of Malbec that was on the menu... The menu here changes seasonally. Thus, the menu showing on their website isn't the one currently in use. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and patiently answered our questions. For starters, I chose the heirloom tomato salad with kale, pine nuts and creamy garlic dressing. My husband chose the iceberg lettuce wedge with blue cheese dressing, cherry tomatoes and bacon bits. The heirloom tomato salad was delicious---not to mention colorful. It consisted of red and yellow tomatoes that were ripe and tasty. The garlic flavoring in the dressing was noticeable yet it didn't overpower the flavor of the tomatoes and kale. My husband isn't a big fan of bleu cheese, yet he did enjoy his salad. He thought that the bleu cheese was more mildly flavored than usual, which was fine with him. For my main course, I ordered the pan seared salmon. I asked the server how the salmon was cooked. She said that I could get it cooked any way I wanted, so I ordered it rare. I was very impressed that it came out the way I wanted. Many times, restaurants will tell you that they will cook it rare for you but, instead it comes out almost well done. The salmon was placed on a bed of thin asparagus pieces and a creamy sauce. It was garnished with a paper thin slice of ciabatta that was toasted and buttered. I enjoyed this dish and liked that the salmon piece wasn't very big. My husband ordered the steak frites. It didn't occur to him to ask what type of steak was in the dish. Nor did he ask how big it was. When he got his food and our server came by to ask how things were, I asked about the steak. She said that it was a 12 oz. NY strip. It comes with a side of house made steak sauce. I tasted it and it was both sweet and spicy. My husband didn't care for it as he prefers A-1 sauce. When I asked, the server told us that the sauce had pineapple juice in it and a pepper that was midway between a jalapeno and a Habanero on the Scoville scale. And now I forget which pepper it was! Still, he did like the steak and it was cooked medium as he requested. We were surprised that we still had some room for dessert. Our server recommended sharing a dessert because as she put it, the desserts were "humongous". So, we shared a summer tart. This dessert consists of a rectangular puff pastry topped with blueberries, blackberries and strawberries plus a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. It was tasty. The berries were fresh, the ice cream was homemade and the puff pastry was light and airy. My husband also had an Irish coffee. Before the tip, dinner cost $131 + change. Not a cheap meal but well worth the money, we thought. Some reviews mention slow service and a slow kitchen. We were talking to our server and she said that we came at the right time. Apparently, during peak dinner hour (7:30 - 8:00), she said that the kitchen gets really busy and food comes out much more slowly. So, bear in mind if you go for a later dinner, food may be slow to arrive to your table. For the dress code, even though we did business casual, we noticed others more casually dressed. I missed out on a Yelp Elite Event here a while ago and have been meaning to check it out ever since. Then the other night, when my husband and I were heading to see Kurios in the area, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to do so. We made a reservation for 5pm and were some of the first folks in the dinning room for the night. Just FYI: I would suggest entering in through the lobby of the hotel vs the door on the side of the building so you don't have to wonder through the dinning area trying to find the host stand (which is before you enter the restaurant). We were seated promptly and our server was very nice and extremely helpful. I ordered their signature drink "the Hive" which consists of Jack Daniels, lemon, rooftop honey, and ginger ale. It was quite good! The husband stuck to beer and was pleased with their selection. We started with the bacon jam jalapeno poppers and the grilled octopus. The later I would order again in a heartbeat as it was absolutely delicious, the former, while it was good, I probably wouldn't order again. Then for our main courses, I selected the duck and was absolutely blown away with it. It was perfect and the accompanying baby bok choy and pickled vegetables were just flawless with the rich duck breast. My husband ordered the scallops, and while he liked them, he raved about their texture, he was completely underwhelmed with the accompanying vegetables (and super jealous of mine when I shared a little). Our server brought us a dessert on the her since she said our appetizers took too long to come out. She was super apologetic, we really weren't in a hurry, but definitely appreciated the gesture! Plus the dessert she brought out, this berry topped, cream filled tarte, with a dollop of vanilla ice cream was fan-freaking-tastic! Located within the Tysons Corner Hilton, this restaurant does a great job at masking its hotel connection with a strong personality of its own. The thing that they impress upon you right from the start is that they are so cool that they have their own bee hive on the roof. Many of the dishes have some honey tie-in so that they can bring this up, and the bread comes with a bacon/honey spread which is weird at first but quickly grows on you. Decor moves away from the sterile hotel style with some nice touches like indoor glass encased fireplaces which help provide gentle warming and a nice glow in the evening. They also have enormous booths surrounding very grand tables which are great for large groups. Only problem is if the person inside has to get out and the booths seating surface is very grippy making sliding difficult. My new york strip steak was good. A little under seasoned for my taste and I would have liked a fattier cut, but this is a good steak and not small. They slightly overcooked my meat however. If I were to repeat, I would order it less cooked. The blue cheese potatoes were crazy cheesy and salty. It was good, but quite overwhelming. The contrast of the under flavored beef and the over flavored potatoes is quite startling. I think I would swap these out for regular veggies or fries. Braised Veal shank was quite excellent. Good tender meat was not quite falling off the bone, but they came close. Sauce could have been a little more flavorful, but meat quality and flavor itself was excellent. Pear and fig flatbread was another odd sweet and salty mix that grew on me. Great textured flatbread with a little chewiness, and once you figure out that you like it, you've already finished it. Bummer! It was my father's birthday and we preordered the devils food cupcake. The preorder seemed kind of pointless as all they did was plant a single candle in there, but we did get it for free. This may be my new favorite upscale eatery. Like another poster, I was attracted to the variety of prices and favors in the admittedly small menu. Every-single-thing was amazing. Yeah, even the mac n cheese(needs salt by the way). The burgers were large and juicy. Tomato slices for the burger were like pieces of art. Presentation on everything was a cut above! What else stands out? Little Pyrex bowls for the mac n cheese. Cast iron serving plates. The water glasses. The decor. Oh, the decor. A little new age, a little Mad Men. Modern slabs of nature- stone and wood- blend surprisingly well with Austin Powers- style upholstered booths. Fifth star for the Architect. hen there was Maria, our waitress. Perfect. The food was certainly overpriced as it's in the hotel. The breakfast buffet was in fact pretty good. I like the chicken and sussage. The omelette was not very tasty though... The service for breakfast was very good. I came for dinner as well and it was not busy at all! Most people who went there for dinner were customers staying at the hotel. The service was not as good as in the morning. I needed to wait for a while to make my order or make some other requests. The server barely showed up to check my dish after making the order. I had the prefixed three course meal with sea scallops. The quality of the sea scallops was good, but a little overcook than how I prefer it. The dessert was good and satisfying! read more

Since they reopened, it has been a big disappointment. The menu has awful selection. I got the broccoli salad and my guest got another entrée. We have both been here before and they changed the menu. I must say the quality of the food with the new menu is not good at all. I could barely eat the broccoli salad and my guest said his entrée was bad. The flatbread was pretty decent though. I hope they bring in a professional chef and revamp the menu or I fear they will close again. Service was decent so they get more than 1 star. read more

I was on a business trip that brought me to the Hilton and I decided to have a light dinner at the Harth. I had the mussels which were in a tomato/vegetable based broth and it was really good. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. If I am in the area again I look forward to trying some of the other items on their menu. read more

Harth is a beautiful restaurant that uses quality ingredients. It can be a great date spot, but with its slow service, I think there is a room for improvement. Pros: - Romantically beautiful decor - Quality ingredients - Super delicious smoky bacon jam...? Cons: - Slow service - Somewhat bland food that you can instantly upgrade by adding salt We visited Harth for a weekend dinner date, and I ordered the $39 prix fixe menu. From the 3 course, I picked 1) mushroom flat bread, 2) Pan roasted heirloom porkchop and 3) cheesecake for dessert. Jason C ordered Pappardelle Ragu pasta. - Mushroom flat bread: tastes almost like oven pizza with a ton of mushroom on it, but nothing really special. I would say &pizza is better than this. Liked it, but nothing spectacular - Pan roasted heirloom porkchop was great. Especially for the price, I think it's a great entree choice and I have nothing to complain. The meat was roasted perfectly - The cheese cake was my favorite. I loved the drizzled basil syrup on top of the cake. - Ragu pasta was really bland, but it just needed some more salt and more herbs! It had chunks of meat and we could really taste that the pasta was great quality, so I would love this dish if it was seasoned a little more. In sum, it's a good date spot and would recommend dating here if you were staying at the hotel. read more

I love Harth. The decor factors into how I feel when I am in this space. It is yummy, cozy and wonderful. The restaurant is located inside the Hilton Hotel at Tyson's Corner. I have attended several events that featured food made by Harth. I had a gift card and was excited to use it. The restaurant is classy, over-the-top cool and beautiful. If you want a photo opp, ask someone to take your picture by the beautiful fireplace enclosed by glass or by the wall of stored wine bottles. The staffers are really nice. You don't have to wear a suit or have a reservation to feel welcome. We have worn formal wear and schleppy clothes and were treated exactly the same, no matter how we looked. If you are wondering why every one wears a bee pin, the restaurant has their own bee hives on the roof. The chefs harvest their own honey. Hubby and I were lucky enough to attend an event where the bees made an appearance. The hives were interesting and thankfully enclosed by glass. We sampled the honey. It was delicious. I enjoy the flatbread. There are several flavors. Hubby enjoyed the pork & pear. I had the cheese. The portion is decent and filling. The soups probably change throughout the year. The pumpkin soup was creamy and looked like it had just made an appearance for in a foodie magazine. I am not a fan of nuts so I would personally not have them added if I ordered it in the future. We were so full that we needed a nap more than dessert. I have tried the cupcakes which are sweet and delicious. I am really curious how strawberry soup tastes but I haven't tried it yet. The restaurant sells growlers from local pubs. We'll return at some point to pick one up for hubby (Shhh....don't tell him). I LOVE Harth!!!! Let me tell you, having lunch at a hotel restaurant is not something I review about. As a matter of fact, I would usually avoid having lunch meetings at all at a hotel restaurant. However, my business partner scheduled a lunch meeting with a prospect and we had an amazing meal. The atmosphere is elegant and the feel is great. I love the whole take on Fire hearths all over the restaurant. The lunch crowd can be loud but once they clear out, it is really laid back. The food is great. Everyone at the table raved about their dish. Whether it's a flatbread or a sandwich, it is elevated! I had a Duck and butternut squash flat bread and I have to tell you folks, it was amazing! I've never had flavors like that meld together on a flatbread. My recommendation is to get one of the flatbreads, however, others at the table had the Turkey Sandwich and were blown away at the flavor. At any rate, this is a great place to eat. read more

I rarely ever review restaurant openings, but Harth's grand opening event was one of the most phenomenal grand opening events I have ever attended. From the moment I valeted my car, I was privy to treatment that made every guest feel extremely treasured. With the slightest bit of a drizzle descending from the sky, the staff was kind enough to escort me from mycar with an umbrella over my head directly to the red carpet, adorned with photographers. Oh wait, I forgot to mention I passed an Ice Queen during this time. I was so concerned with the person carrying the umbrella over my head that I almost ignored the woman draped in white on stilts, welcoming guests in. To the left of her, fire throwers. Tossers. Jugglers. Whatever you want to call them. The theme was Fire and Ice, so these thematic elements were an enchanting welcome to the event. Once inside, guests enjoyed an ice bar serving champagne with Gran Marnier pearls, specialty cocktails and martinis, the most amazing lobster rolls I've tasted in quite some time, lavish charcuterie, flat breads and a plethora of other samples of food from the restaurant. Each item that I tasted was delightful. Magical. Delicious. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Very modern and yet elegant with exposed woods, stones and gleams of gold accents with extravagant chandeliers. This restaurant is distinctively upscale and sophisticated, but managed to never strike me as stuffy. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, ready to accommodate any needs you may have. They even put the finishing touch on the experience but leaving a small, golden box of truffle in my car as a farewell gift, which was such a lovely surprise. Although I don't spend a terrible amount of time in Tyson's Corner, I cannot wait to return here for a proper meal. I'm extremely confident that they will deliver on all accounts. read more
