I attempted to resolve this privately in an email to management, but it's been over a week with no response. Long story short, the open mic host, Chip, used to sexually harass me. The karaoke host, Nikki, is just aggressive and mean and yelled in my face. View the screenshots of my email if you want the full stories. Pictures 3 & 4 are out of order. If you look at some of the other negative reviews on Google, you'll see that the owner has spent a lot of time making shockingly rude responses. Name-calling patrons, gaslighting them on their experiences, calling one girl "constipated", because why else would she have been in the bathroom for long enough to notice the grottiness? Telling people they sound like they need to "get laid" or "get a life" when they make valid complaints? Just wildly unprofessional. Very tired of venues staffed and owned by people who think they're too cool to be kind. You deserve better. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

The live music scene was impressive. We saw Billy the Kid and the Regulators and that band packed the house. I recommend getting there early and going to the second floor bc they put the tables up at 10 and it's standing room only. In other words - very difficult to get your drinks. The bathroom was pretty grubby... Overall- a cool, live music spot. read more

I have been here long time ago. I was drunk and dont remember... This time I came sober and early for happy hour. Let me say that I had a great experience. The server was WOW...very nice and profesional. Had a a cracked glass and she replaced it. Great live band. Food was not the best nor was it the worst. Fried Chicken had no soul. Fried fish was good. What a great place! Went for live music on a Saturday night and this place did not disappoint! Entire staff was friendly even while doing a great job keeping some of the riff-raff in line, but don't worry - there aren't a lot of those here! Place definitely gets packed with a line out the door and tables on the main floor get removed when the live music starts, so choose your spot accordingly. This is like a restaurant and music Renaissance of the area. A place for locals and tourists from all walks of life come together to enjoy good live music good food and drinks. You have to take a close look at all of the walls and all the things it really sets the atmosphere. All the staff from the person who checks your ID to the waitress to the people working in any part of the restaurant are all amazing. There is no dress code so where would you comfortable in with the exception of not wearing a baseball cap according to the website. My favorite things were the Bill Clinton hamburger the fish basket and the fried okra. I'll be back again because the music and dancing was amazing and the atmosphere is something I haven't found anywhere else. I was here recently and purchased a vodka soda at the bar upstairs. A bartender (tall, bald man with a reddish/ brown beard) decided to THROW a straw at my face after I completed the transaction. I quickly assumed he reacted this way because I didn't leave a tip. He immediately sprinted off like a coward. You clearly know behavior like this is completely unacceptable!! It's intimidating, it's aggressive and it's inappropriate. I don't care how conflicted you are about a tip for a non-speciality cocktail you should NEVER be launching items at patron's faces. Speak to me like an adult. Take it up with your employer who seems to not pay you enough. I could've made this a much bigger issue for you, I'm choosing to leave a review so the people know what they might be met with. Do better. This is absurd. read more

Worst employees ever. The bar tender Mary was so nice and pleasant but the other staff were rude and bossy. They tried to take away the chairs we were sitting in. And they would not let me re-enter after stepping outside. I highly don't recommend this place unless you want to treated like a piece of garbage. read more

Cool place. Madam's Organ is a longtime neighborhood favorite. The name is a play on Adams Morgan. It looks like it's been there forever. There's always something fun going on. I like almost everything about it, but the best thing is the atmosphere. It's one of the chillest places in the whole city. The first floor is where much of the action takes place. At the front is the stage area. There's usually a blues or folk musician here most nights. I like sitting at the bar. The only bad thing is the stage is behind it. Drinks aren't anything exotic but they're cheap. It has shots for happy hour. A shot is $1 each. They also have some food. It's mostly greasy fried stuff but there's some things that aren't. My favorite is the chips and guacamole. This is $5 for a nice amount of chips and some very hot guacamole that's nice to munch on. Make sure to get up on the balcony. There's a good dance floor. You can see crazy people in the street from there. read more

Atmosphere is great. It's a very interesting place to visit. The food is on point and if you catch them late, there is usually live music.

I went on a Tuesday evening about 8 PM. The place was pretty empty. It got a bit more crowded later as a group of Marines from the United Kingdom came to enjoy some time off of the base. We sat at a table in the bar area. This is definitely what would be called a dive bar which isn't quite my thing but was selected by someone else. It has quite a bit of interesting Decor of artwork of bare breasted women, dead animals, bikes, etc. It's also very dark so it was difficult to see the menu and required our phone flashlights. The table was wobbly and so we were concerned about sitting our drinks there so we use the shelf that was right next to the seating. The bartender was the best part. She was attentive, had great energy, and alerted us that happy hour was about to end so we should order soon. I ordered the spicy fish and a side salad. The food is awful. The fish was definitely not spicy and I am very sensitive to spicy and there was nothing spicy about it. It was also very very very salty. Other than the salty flavor I couldn't taste any other seasonings on it. The salad was very basic with a vinaigrette that was very strong. I got the Madam's Peach which was tasty and the bartender didn't skimp on the alcohol. This isn't a place I'd rush to go back to. read more

The bartenders were quick and somehow knew exactly what was asked even with music pumping in he air. The drinks were great! There was a cover charge to get in, $7 for cash, $9 for card, but that's not unreasonable for as popular a place as this. Boy, was it popular; people were shoulder to shoulder on every floor yet there still room to dance and move around, though you had to squeeze to get by. one of my all time favorite bars in dc! it's fun, cool, not super cliche, and has pretty much everything. there's a few levels so there's a spot to dance if you wanna, even on busy friday/saturday nights there's usually tables available if you want to drink and sit, there's outside areas, and the bartenders are lovely! they are super personable and the drinks are well priced! they also have some kind of food/drink deal every single day and a daily happy hour (6pm-8pm)! they have live music every night of the week too (which means they also have a cover charge. it's $10 cash or $12 card, usually). but the bands are great and make the vibe very fun! it's a cool local spot with very fun decor, great drinks, and a good crowd. read more

I had came here a couple times in the past, but been like 6 and 7 yrs since those visits. We come every cpl years for work and so I wanted my coworkers to try it. I'm not sure what happened but this is complete chaos and discomfort. It's hot inside and even though they serve food, they darken the lights so you can't even see your plates. Food was pretty bad for all of us. Chicken, we ordered fried chicken all meat for 3 plates. They serve two all white meat and one unidentifiable baby pieces that we bring to the servers attention right away. She contacts the kitchen. We wait. The greens are so filled with so much vinegar it's inedible. The candied yams have so much over seasoning of either cinnamon or allspice that it too is almost inedible. The corn muffin is sitting in the greens vinegar juice and therefore ruined. We ask for hot sauce as this is supposed to be soul food. We were offered chalula or Tabasco. Our draft beers were luke warm our waters ice melted so fast due to the heat it was crazy. This whole experience was just horrible and nothing like my previous experiences. The server does check on us and then the kitchen brings the chicken. Instead of making our order right with pieces of white meat fried chicken, they send fried chicken wings. This is really horrible to do to a customer! This is not what we ordered. The 4th person got the fried pork chop which also was bland and not seasoned, like the chicken. No salt, no pepper......greens and yams, same as above. Not good. I'm super disappointed. The waitress said she was going to take care of our bill on the fried chicken fiasco, which I'm waiting to see it reversed to make sure it was cared for. But overall extremely disappointing. Too dark inside where people are using their cellphone lights to eat and or see the menu. We couldn't hear the waitress hardly at all. It just was a no go and I hope it is brought back to how I remember it. It use to have a great vibe, good food and more attention to the customer. I feel robbed of the $40 cover charge we were charged- $10 per person for a night we didn't enjoy at all. read more

We were recommended to try this landmark in the Adams Morgan, District Starting from the third floor roof top level everything from food /service and ambience was Fabulous Fabulous.!!! We started the evening with a Modelo draft and a mango cocktail They were so good that we end up ordering another round when than the food began to arrive. The chicken nachos were so scrumptious and came serving hot. We didn't leave a single chip left to devour. I ended up having the salmon which was fluffy & cooked perfectly to perfection The collard greens and the okra reminded me of being in the south -cooked to just right and the okra was nicely prepared and deep fried most restaurants can't cook and serve it crispy and seasoned to a southern flair after dinner we mosey down to the first floor and listen to the Latin blues band nightly entertainment Felt like I was back in the Caribbean The floor was packed and everybody was moving and grooving to the salsa rhythm. We had a wonderful evening everything was perfect PS a parking space is limited in the whole area so if you see one grab it Thank you John Joseph D for introducing us to a place we will come back to every visit we make to the DC area read more

4/10/22 evening a male staff member called a young woman a bitch, grabbed her by the back of the shirt, and violently shoved her into the stairwell because she was not moving fast enough. She was obviously very upset by this, as were a number of people who witnessed it. In general, shocked by how unfriendly and borderline violent staff and patrons alike were. Places like this should not be allowed to exist. The one quality thing about this bar was the woman and her band on the first floor... I've forgotten their name but she was funky as hell and excellent. read more
