It's been YEARS since I've been to The Hamilton. A recent trip to DC and a free gift card is what brought me here. I went for brunch, but was in more of a lunch mood. I sat outside on the patio. To start, I got the calamari appetizer. Yall! Their calamari is so freakin good! The remoulade sauce that comes with it just takes it to the next level. I got the crab cake entree and it was just what I needed. I recommend replacing the tartar sauce with their remoulade sauce. The Tea Time mocktail was very refreshing. The service was good. The only downside is that there was an issue with the gift card that I won from their social media page. After some back and forth, they eventually honored it and all was well. But this experience was definitely better than my past experience, so I'm adding a star. read more

As part of the Clyde's restaurant group, we were excited to try this since we love Old Ebbitt. However, we were a bit let down from the food. My girlfriend got the steak and eggs which she thought was good but on the saltier side. I got the crab cake benedict but my eggs were way overcooked and not runny whatsoever. My server was nice and apologetic about it. The sushi was surprisingly good and fresh. I was skeptical at first about sushi at an American restaurant but was happily surprised. Kids menus were $9.99 (I always judge a place on this, bc sometimes the prices are through the roof). Sushi roll I got wicked something was incredible - big & flavorful! The perfect bar/restaurant when you are in DC, it is located in the heart of the capital and its decor is dripping with Americana. It is covered in dark woods and elegance and the service is professional and attentive. There is plenty of bar seating (2 full bars and a sushi bar) plus countless table seating. The menu has something for everyone, from the appetizer menu to the salad, dinner and dessert there is something for everyone. The Hamilton - Live Being a fan of both the Grateful Dead and Steely Dan, I paid $40 for general seated admission to see Steeley Dead, performing at The Hamilton - Live. The music venue is located below the Hamilton, a storied dining experience in the 600 block of 14th Street in D.C. Doors would open at 6:30 p.m. for a performance that would begin, right on time, at 8 p.m. I travel alone, and prefer not to join tables, opting instead to sit where single seats are available. The Hamilton - Live offers both: most of the seating is in groups of 4- or 6-seat benches where groups gather, and there are rows of single seats on a slight rise above the forward seating, offering a great view of the stage and the screens above the stage. I arrived around 7 p.m. Within minutes Marie greeted me with a menu and instructions to post a card on a holder at my place, signaling her to stop by to take my order. The menu was eclectic, with sushi, pizza, tacos, salads, wings, cheeseburger sliders, and nachos. There are robust vegetarian and gluten-free selections, and a fully licensed bar. I placed the card in the holder at my seat and Marie returned to take my order: sushi - shrimp tempura ($14), with a can of Nutrl Pineapple ($8) and a double G&T ($23.18). The crowd was gathering, and the attending wait staff were moving with speed, filling orders. My meal arrived in great shape about 15 minutes after I placed the order. Nicely executed sushi! Sound quality in the venue is great, and the restroom was clean and well lit. And as the catalogues of both the Dead and Steely Dan inspire dancing, the dance floor was filled right from the start. The band's vibe was low key and spontaneous, with lots of smiling on the dance floor. Total with a 22% tip was $79 (which included a white Russian nightcap). Reasonable fare for the DMV. So happy I was finally able to check out the Hamilton! Came here on a solo date and had a great experience. When I walked in, I was greeted by the wonderful staff. The time I came in was when they were getting ready for dinner so I promptly sat at the bar. The menu for the Hamilton is extensive and I was presently surprised at all the options I had. I loved that the sushi was half off and vowed to come back to try it. For this visit, I had the pork chop and the crab fried rice. For an appetizer, I had the crab soup. Great place for lunch and dinner! I only had a drink there and it was very well done. Caleb held the fort very smoothly while 4000000 people inside. Pleasant, smiling, efficient! The restaurant is massive and has 2 bars and 2 dining areas. The bathrooms are very spacious as well. Just came in because the place had a nice and needed to get out of the heat. The place was packed but they still got us a table within 5 mins. Took a walk inside and this place is hugeee. I tried the Hamilton for the first time on a Saturday night around midnight, on the weekend of the US's 250th birthday celebration. Despite this and the crowded bar area, my party of 3 was still seated immediately at a booth in one of the many dining rooms. The atmosphere was both lively at the bar area and calm in the dining areas. Despite how fancy and old-timey the building is, it seems like the vibe is casual. Our attentive waiter informed us that the kitchen closed at 12:30am, so we ordered quickly. I got the: Hamilton burger 4/5 sunny-side up egg, bacon, b&b pickles, tilamook cheddar, dijionaise, house-made brioche bun This tall burger had a thick, juicy patty that paired so well with the egg, bacon, and cheese. I opted to remove the pickles. Considering it was served with fries, this was a reasonably priced meal for a popular destination in the city. There is no table service for the high-top tables at the bar, so you need to place your orders at the bar and they'll bring your beverages and entrees to your table. We started off with shrimp tempura and caterpillar rolls, Angus cheeseburger sliders, grilled octopus, ragu Americana and rigatoni. For dessert we indulged in coconut mousse and cherry blossom dessert. All the food was solid, and I was impressed with the rolls and tender octopus, which I could cut with a fork. This was always my go to when I lived in DC and where I would send friends visiting. Sadly it isn't as good anymore. They used to bring complimentary bread with a delicious salty butter but they now charge $9 for that. They used to have a great happy hour for drinks and bites but now they only offer $5 off select sushi rolls during HH. Stopped by for lunch last week, and despite the heavy presence of Secret Service agents, we were seated right away. It was my third visit, and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the Grilled Steak Salad, while my colleagues had the Hamilton Caesar with Salmon and the Blackberry & Avocado Salad. They both enjoyed their meals, but I have to say mine was the winner! The steak was cooked perfectly medium--juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. My only complaint was that the salad was a bit too "wet" for my liking. Other than that, the food was delicious, the prices were reasonable, and the overall experience was great. Our server was also attentive throughout the meal. It was my first time at the Hamilton. I came with a big group of 9 celebrating a birthday. They took us to a table at the corner of the restaurant that felt super private and cozy. The restaurant is huge and so many different areas and tables and also a huge bar area. Our service was great, we had many waiters attending us and brought our drinks and food out really fast and took plates in between as well. Everyone loved their meals, their menu has a wide selection and variety of food. I got the shrimp tempura bento and left my plate clean because of how good it was. I ordered the spicy crab shrimp tempura roll and the spicy tuna/salmon roll (sorry I don't remember the names). The shrimp tempura one wasn't it, the shrimp tempura was skinny. The spicy tuna/salmon roll was good. I also had a lemon drop martini and it was waaaay too sweet. My fiancée had the fried chicken sandwich and fries, it was wonderful he says. They had a variety of different cocktails, beers, and wines. I was particularly impressed with the Asian beers and Japanese whiskey, you don't find that too often. I really liked the inside, a lot of mahogany wood panels. Old fashion boujie, with a lot of bird art. Service was slow because there was a very large party seated in my section. Literally incredible. The Hamilton is iconic in DC and I can definitely see why. It's a huge and elegant dining space right outside of The White House. We sat the wood paneled bar for some cocktails and bites and I have never felt classier! I started with a fig spritz which was perfectly refreshing. Charcuterie was such a good choice. They have a variety of a la carte meats and cheeses. We tried prosciutto and goat and both were so good and came with a variety of cute accompaniments. My sandwich absolutely stole the show. A turkey BLT on the most delicious everything ciabatta roll with pimento cheese spread. Literally all of my favorite things on one sandwich. Perfection! I came here because it happened to be one of few spots in the area still open. I was really excited to try the late night happy hour sushi but unfortunately did not love either roll we ordered. The King Toro which has fatty tuna shogun have been so tender and high quality but unfortunately the tuna itself was tough to chew through. The way they added sauce and jalapeño on the top of the roll was odd. The Crunchy tuna roll was the better of the two. Had a spicy crunch to the top and shrimp inside. I was wowed by this place on my last night in D.C. People in my group who were also staying at the nearby JW Marriott kept raving about this place, so I opted to check it out for dinner and drinks. The food was phenomenal, fresh, and I had one of the best Cesar salads I have ever tasted. You could tell the dressing was just prepared and the freshness of the greens were on point. The jumbo lump crabcake was worth the price for a splurge and sitting at the bar was a treat watching Dan, one of the expert bar tenders, work his craft. I had a sparkling Rose' and a French Martinis, expertly crafted and shaken to perfection. The volume and vibe of the afterwork D.C. crowd was kind of refreshing after a long day on foot at the Capitol. I ordered the Hamilton Caesar salad with steak and it was one of the best Caesar salads I ever had. The cocktail special made with Hakuto Japanese gin was really good and I anticipated it would land on the sweeter side so I ordered a pot of earl Gray tea to balance it out. I ordered the sashimi Hamilton Platter selection; this being the first time I ordered late night sushi in a setting more reminiscent of a dimly lit steak house so I had to look a bit closer at the sashimi to see the quality but it was really great. I found this great late night dining destination through Yelp. One thing I would change (if I could) would be to have the restaurant ask the squad or patrol car outside that had its blue and red lights flashing the entire time illuminating the entire dining hall for the duration of my entire meal to possibly park thirty feet away. It was clear that in DC every .75 miles at night there's a patrol car posted to just keep watch. There was no reason for the flashing to be the first and foremost thing I remember about this restaurant. The squad car can move 35 feet and not have this room feel like it's in an actor crime scene. read more

I re injured my hip and had to use a scooter to get around and they accommodated my situation like rockstars. My bartender Alondra was fantastic--super friendly and attentive. Set me up with a manager to get me downstairs via elevator. If you like an Old Fashioned, try The Pair of Aces--you'll love it! The staff downstairs during the game was fantastic, handling the lively crowd with ease. The pizza was great with a perfect crispy crust, and the sushi was fantastic--fresh and full of flavor. Wow! Top 5 places for the most delicious food! With such a large the selection, we were not sure what we should try. However, we asked our very knowledgeable server, Danieli and she pointed us in the right direction. We started off with the appetizer of the tuna poke. Followed by the pork chop and the Ragu Americano and rigatoni. To say it was delicious seems to be an understatement. I was tempted to re-create the When Harry Met Sally scene after our first bites. This is just your average American restaurant. I've been to their sister restaurants like Clyde's and Old Ebbiets. I prefer those over the Hamilton personally because the service is better. The restaurant itself is very pretty, bright, spacious, white table clothes and on the chiller side. Some folks kept their winter coats on. We started with the calamari which was a huge portion and perfectly cooked. The wedge salad was perfect for two to split but it needed more blue cheese dressing. The burger and fries was juicy and perfectly cooked. Fries were served hot. Steak was perfectly cooked. Mac and cheese was more of pasta and Alfredo than true cheesy mac and cheese. I'd skip it. Overall it's a solid B+ American restaurant. We will be back to the other sister restaurants for happy hour. read more

The sheer size of this restaurant is overwhelming. Despite the size, the restaurant carries it off with both excellent service and food. The decor is upscale and very DC - you feel like you are part of the political inteligencia. My salmon was perfectly seasoned on a bed of summer asparagus. From the warm welcome upon arriving, to the short 2-3 minute wait for our 5PM reservation, to the quick seating by our server, we had a great time. Our server Santi(ago) was attentive, helpful, available and friendly. My group was there for a quick dinner before a show at The Warner Theater. The entire Hamilton's team was committed to getting us served and out on time. We had the steak frittes, salmon, crab soup, calamari and delightful dessert. All were served hot and tasty. The Hamilton is a staple in DC. I mostly come here for the sushi happy hour that runs daily from 2-5pm (and also from 10pm Sun-Thursday and from 11pm on Friday and Saturday). All rolls are $5 off which brings them down to very decent price. My favorite rolls: Fire Dragon, Cherry Blossom Roll, and if you liked cooked rolls- Fire Cracker. I recently tried a new roll and it is definitely one of my new favorites, the Baked Lobster Roll is absolutely delicious! It can get quite busy but there's usually space at one of the two bars. Outside of the sushi, other items I have enjoyed- district wings (w/ mumbo sauce) and the cream of crab soup. Also for an entree suggestion, the Six Spiced Branzino is quite delicious and comes with a roasted pepper chimichurri which is amazing. After attending an event on 14th Street, we chose The Hamilton simply because it was the nearest spot open late and we were pleasantly surprised. Even after midnight, the place was still lively. We were seated immediately and guided through several beautifully designed rooms before settling into a two-top in the back of the restaurant. I love the paintings, and overall décor. Our server came by to let us know it was last call and offered some recommendations. We ordered the mambo wings, mac & cheese, and sushi roll. Everything was good and perfect for late-night dining. To drink, I had a Hugo spritz and my girlfriend ordered Prosecco. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience with good vibes, good food, and company. When you have to stop at a restaurant twice in one night, you know it's good. On a recent trip to DC my friend suggested the Hamilton for a quick bite to eat before heading to a holiday party. The business was just coming back up from losing power so we were able to walk straight in an take a seat at the bar with no wait. The Hamilton reminds you of an old school restaurant with a historic vibe. Adding a little pizzaz to your dining experience. And the place is huge. There was so much on the menu we wanted to try but we settled on splitting a burger and truffle fries and an order of calamari. Our waitress was amazing, paying attention to how we ordered our food and made sure to have our burger cut in half and served on separate plates with an order of fries for us both. This was all without us even asking. The burger and truffle fries were DELICIOUS. Part of the reason why we went back to the Hamilton later that night. And the calamari was some of the best I've had. Tender and not rubbery, fried along with these sweet and briny peppers. This is the type of calamari you dream of. Feeling hungry after attending our holiday party we went back to the Hamilton for round two. At this time the Hamilton was much more crowded but we still managed to grab two stools at the bar. I settled on just a side order of the crab fried rice. And although pretty plain looking when served, this rice with chunks of crab meat throughout, was so flavorful and not heavy or greasy like most fried rice. I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to the Hamilton and we're actually planning on going back soon to try their brunch. It was well worth the two trips in one night. read more

It is a great size as there is about 3-4 different sections of the restaurant. This restaurant has so many different menu options, there is something for everyone. I always enjoy the wings with mambo sauce, Brussels, and firecracker rolls. The portions are well and i have never had a bad experience with my waiter/waitress. The ambiance of the restaurant is very dim, with good size tables. If you end up with a booth, there are hooks to hang up your jacket and/or purse. There are also some booths where you can close the door on for privacy.
