They have a good amount of GF options on their menu, including sushi. Orders two rolls and some nigiri. Everything was fresh, there were unique flavors and even some crunch.
Yummy food with great service. The starters, entrees, and dessert came out nice and hot with lots of flavor! It can be a little loud around 5pm but it quiets down after that.
I'm visiting from out of town and my local bestie suggested we come here for the last night sushi. It's hard finding good sushi where I am from. For midnight, it wasn't too crowded. We found seats at the back bar. Brian (our bartender) was very attentive and took care of us. I ordered the shrimp tempera roll and my homegirl had the spicy crab roll. The sushi was fresh and fantastic. I really enjoyed my experience and will definitely come back for a late night treat next time I'm in the area
Went for dinner while in town with family. Service was good, server was prompt & patience with us. Kids menus were $9.99 (I always judge a place on this, bc sometimes the prices are through the roof). Sushi roll I got wicked something was incredible - big & flavorful! Pork belly app was yummy as well. Mashed potatoes were smooth and so good. Brussels were also really good, caramelized and crunchy. My husband got the trout - that unfortunately was not good. Greasy and just not well prepared. He ate it but it was not yummy. Also -he got 2 gin & clubs both times the club was flat. Strange for a bar. All in all, good experience.

The Hamilton - Live Being a fan of both the Grateful Dead and Steely Dan, I paid $40 for general seated admission to see Steeley Dead, performing at The Hamilton - Live. The music venue is located below the Hamilton, a storied dining experience in the 600 block of 14th Street in D.C. Doors would open at 6:30 p.m. for a performance that would begin, right on time, at 8 p.m. I travel alone, and prefer not to join tables, opting instead to sit where single seats are available. The Hamilton - Live offers both: most of the seating is in groups of 4- or 6-seat benches where groups gather, and there are rows of single seats on a slight rise above the forward seating, offering a great view of the stage and the screens above the stage. I arrived around 7 p.m. Within minutes Marie greeted me with a menu and instructions to post a card on a holder at my place, signaling her to stop by to take my order. The menu was eclectic, with sushi, pizza, tacos, salads, wings, cheeseburger sliders, and nachos. There are robust vegetarian and gluten-free selections, and a fully licensed bar. I placed the card in the holder at my seat and Marie returned to take my order: sushi - shrimp tempura ($14), with a can of Nutrl Pineapple ($8) and a double G&T ($23.18). The crowd was gathering, and the attending wait staff were moving with speed, filling orders. My meal arrived in great shape about 15 minutes after I placed the order. Nicely executed sushi! Sound quality in the venue is great, and the restroom was clean and well lit. And as the catalogues of both the Dead and Steely Dan inspire dancing, the dance floor was filled right from the start. The band's vibe was low key and spontaneous, with lots of smiling on the dance floor. Total with a 22% tip was $79 (which included a white Russian nightcap). Reasonable fare for the DMV. Taxi, Uber, and Lyft are readily available from the venue.
So happy I was finally able to check out the Hamilton! Came here on a solo date and had a great experience. When I walked in, I was greeted by the wonderful staff. The time I came in was when they were getting ready for dinner so I promptly sat at the bar. The menu for the Hamilton is extensive and I was presently surprised at all the options I had. I loved that the sushi was half off and vowed to come back to try it. For this visit, I had the pork chop and the crab fried rice. For an appetizer, I had the crab soup. Everything was delicious and came out promptly. The flavoring of the food was amazing and I had leftovers to take home. I will definitely be back!
The perfect bar/restaurant when you are in DC, it is located in the heart of the capital and its decor is dripping with Americana. It is covered in dark woods and elegance and the service is professional and attentive. There is plenty of bar seating (2 full bars and a sushi bar) plus countless table seating. The menu has something for everyone, from the appetizer menu to the salad, dinner and dessert there is something for everyone. Everything we had was delicious and I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a great meal while in DC.
Great place for lunch and dinner! I only had a drink there and it was very well done. Caleb held the fort very smoothly while 4000000 people inside. Pleasant, smiling, efficient! The restaurant is massive and has 2 bars and 2 dining areas. The bathrooms are very spacious as well. The restaurant has big windows which allow's plenty of natural light and they are open until 2AM everyday. The lady next to me ordered a turkey club sandwich and it looked AMAZING!
Probably the best BLT I have ever had. The butter toast, the crispy bacon the fresh tomato amazing! The fries were fresh and crispy just the way I like them. The ambience was energetic and the overall atmosphere was when I would love to come back to.
Just came in because the place had a nice and needed to get out of the heat. The place was packed but they still got us a table within 5 mins. Took a walk inside and this place is hugeee. Huge shout out to Stephanie, she was awesome. So glad we got sat in her section. She was fast and attentive. Got small bites. Truffle rosemary fries, firecracker roll and spicy crab roll. Everything was delicious and came out fast. I will say the fries are very greasy but that's to be expected when they drench it in truffle oil. Overall, nice place and good food.
I tried the Hamilton for the first time on a Saturday night around midnight, on the weekend of the US's 250th birthday celebration. Despite this and the crowded bar area, my party of 3 was still seated immediately at a booth in one of the many dining rooms. The atmosphere was both lively at the bar area and calm in the dining areas. Despite how fancy and old-timey the building is, it seems like the vibe is casual. Our attentive waiter informed us that the kitchen closed at 12:30am, so we ordered quickly. I got the: Hamilton burger 4/5 sunny-side up egg, bacon, b&b pickles, tilamook cheddar, dijionaise, house-made brioche bun This tall burger had a thick, juicy patty that paired so well with the egg, bacon, and cheese. I opted to remove the pickles. Considering it was served with fries, this was a reasonably priced meal for a popular destination in the city. BIRD IS THE WORD 4/5 planteray '3 star' rum, smith + cross jamaican rum, daytrip strawberry amaro, demerara, pineapple, lime Sweet, fruity, refreshing cocktail! Nothing to write home about but was indeed a delicious experience.
4 1/2 Stars. We ended up here at the bar on a Friday night. I recommend making reservations for a table since this is a sister restaurant of the Old Ebbitt's Grill restaurant chain. The restaurant is massive and is popular for locals and tourist. There is no table service for the high-top tables at the bar, so you need to place your orders at the bar and they'll bring your beverages and entrees to your table. We started off with shrimp tempura and caterpillar rolls, Angus cheeseburger sliders, grilled octopus, ragu Americana and rigatoni. For dessert we indulged in coconut mousse and cherry blossom dessert. All the food was solid, and I was impressed with the rolls and tender octopus, which I could cut with a fork. Our server was on point & friendly, and the interior decor and atmosphere is really upbeat. I recommend the Hamilton, but book your reservations in advance.
The sheer size of this restaurant is overwhelming. Despite the size, the restaurant carries it off with both excellent service and food. The decor is upscale and very DC - you feel like you are part of the political inteligencia. My salmon was perfectly seasoned on a bed of summer asparagus. The food came out reasonably quickly in this busy restaurant. You are just a few blocks from the White House so it is good for tourists who want an upscale meal. read more

After attending an event on 14th Street, we chose The Hamilton simply because it was the nearest spot open late and we were pleasantly surprised. Even after midnight, the place was still lively. We were seated immediately and guided through several beautifully designed rooms before settling into a two-top in the back of the restaurant. I love the paintings, and overall décor. Our server came by to let us know it was last call and offered some recommendations. We ordered the mambo wings, mac & cheese, and sushi roll. Everything was good and perfect for late-night dining. To drink, I had a Hugo spritz and my girlfriend ordered Prosecco. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience with good vibes, good food, and company. Amazing , here in Washington DC for our nations 250 birthday. Enjoyed an incredible meal at the Hamilton! Our waiter Courtney was very efficient, attentive and had great recommendations. When you have to stop at a restaurant twice in one night, you know it's good. On a recent trip to DC my friend suggested the Hamilton for a quick bite to eat before heading to a holiday party. The business was just coming back up from losing power so we were able to walk straight in an take a seat at the bar with no wait. The Hamilton reminds you of an old school restaurant with a historic vibe. Adding a little pizzaz to your dining experience. And the place is huge. There was so much on the menu we wanted to try but we settled on splitting a burger and truffle fries and an order of calamari. Our waitress was amazing, paying attention to how we ordered our food and made sure to have our burger cut in half and served on separate plates with an order of fries for us both. This was all without us even asking. The burger and truffle fries were DELICIOUS. Part of the reason why we went back to the Hamilton later that night. And the calamari was some of the best I've had. Tender and not rubbery, fried along with these sweet and briny peppers. This is the type of calamari you dream of. Feeling hungry after attending our holiday party we went back to the Hamilton for round two. At this time the Hamilton was much more crowded but we still managed to grab two stools at the bar. I settled on just a side order of the crab fried rice. And although pretty plain looking when served, this rice with chunks of crab meat throughout, was so flavorful and not heavy or greasy like most fried rice. I thoroughly enjoyed my visits to the Hamilton and we're actually planning on going back soon to try their brunch. It was well worth the two trips in one night. read more
I am so shocked I've never written a review about this restaurant! When i lived in the dc area, i LOVEEDDDD coming here. They have happy hour, as well as a late night menu. It is a great size as there is about 3-4 different sections of the restaurant. This restaurant has so many different menu options, there is something for everyone. I always enjoy the wings with mambo sauce, Brussels, and firecracker rolls. The portions are well and i have never had a bad experience with my waiter/waitress. The ambiance of the restaurant is very dim, with good size tables. If you end up with a booth, there are hooks to hang up your jacket and/or purse. There are also some booths where you can close the door on for privacy. Whenever I'm in or near dc please know i am always going to the Hamilton or their sister restaurant, old ebbit grill. read more
Outstanding restaurant with the most delicious and one of the most affordable burgers around. The service was fantastic especially during the height of rush hour, the ambiance was historic but also modern at the same time and I really appreciated all of the staff for not rushing us after we finished eating despite how crowded it was. read more
The Hamilton was a good place to have a quick late lunch, and we were able to get in without a reservation (other places nearby were packed with an hour wait time). The service was very nice, and the ambiance was classic. They do have cool booths with lots of privacy. The food was a bit of a disappointing. Everything was very average, and not worth a price tag. I recently dined at The Hamilton with my sister, and it was a delightful experience! Located conveniently near the White House, this restaurant boasts a diverse menu that caters to a variety of tastes. While The Hamilton is known for its crab cakes, I opted for the district wings, which were absolutely delicious. They came with an incredible mumbo sauce that had just the right balance of flavor and crispness. My sister did indulge in the crab cakes as well as the Italian Wedding soup, and she was quite pleased with her choices as well. I also tried the crispy shrimp salad, which was fantastic. The flavors were vibrant, and while I couldn't finish the whole thing, I took it back to my hotel room. Even as leftovers, it was a treat I couldn't wait to dive into! The wine selection was excellent, and I enjoyed two glasses that complemented our meals beautifully. The service was attentive and friendly, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. Overall, I highly recommend The Hamilton for lunch or dinner. The combination of great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service makes it a must-visit spot in DC. Came in on a Monday at 4pm, the bars area were popping. My kids chose this restaurant because its called Hamilton, aka Alexander Hamilton. We were seated right away. The sushi is legit here , Japanese rice, good quality sashimi, even better, 2-5pm is 5$ off sushi rolls. Cheeseburgers was so juicy, cooked to medium rare, as asked. I have to say, this restaurant food is good. Our Waiter was so attentive and the restaurant is very nice, high ends looking. So many seatings , bars or booths, give a very nice vibe. We made a reservation for dinner and was sat right away. I was surprised at how large this restaurant was with multiple halls. Starting off with the classic bread and butter was delicious. We ordered some meatballs and sushi as appetizer, and I got the bone in ribeye which was absolutely divine. The dessert was amazing and the espresso martinis were so good we had to get 3 rounds. The service was really good, not only from our server but other workers that came by. I loved the ambience of the place with an elegant restaurant feel. The Hamilton is definitely one of DC staples for great food. Highly recommend the district wings with mumbo sauce and that you go during a happy hour time. Great ambience, but it can't get very noisy as this is close to the White House. Check it out! read more

Perfection from beginning to end. So glad I made a reservation as it was crowded for early dinner. This restaurant is absolutely an old classic beauty mixed with modern outdoor decor. I couldn't believe how large the restaurant was as it has two large separate dining areas and a bar area with a bonus basement with live music! Service was excellent, food was incredibly fresh and delicious and my favorite was the corn and crab soup ! I could've eaten this in a super large bowl lol. Extensive wine list and cocktail menu, wonderful dessert and for those traveling with kids, they do have a kids menu that was full of great dishes for the littles. Dress code is casually chic or business casual. My cousin is a new chef in DC and wanted to try and I'm glad we had the chance to enjoy a great meal and conversation. We had reservations, and I have to say, parking being that easy in DC was a pleasant surprise. There's a garage right next door, which made the whole experience start off stress-free. Walking in, the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. It really gives you that "old DC" feel with the architecture and decor. Very classic, a little upscale, but still welcoming. It's definitely a place that sets the tone for a nice evening out. Now the menu... when I say it has a little bit of everything, I mean that. It actually made it hard to decide because there were so many good options. I ended up going with the rainbow trout with fried capers and a side of whipped potatoes, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. Well-seasoned, flavorful, and just overall satisfying. The only downside for me was the service toward the end. As we were literally in the middle of boxing up our food, they started clearing the table. I'm talking I reached for my bread and the plate was already gone. That felt a little rushed and honestly kind of strange. I've been to more casual (and cheaper) spots that don't do that. Other than that moment, I really enjoyed the experience. The ambiance, the food, and the overall vibe make it a place I would definitely recommend, just maybe keep an eye on your plate if you're not done yet. read more

What a beautiful restaurant and atmosphere. I'd say the dress code was upscale. Everyone in here looked as if they just came from the opera. Haha! It was very busy and the waitress was still able to give us great service. She was conversational and offered menu and drink suggestions. The food came out in a timely manner and it was delicious! Steaks were cooked as ordered and did not lack flavor. The salad was fresh and crispy. I wasn't expecting the fish to come out whole, so that was shocking. But I'm glad i still gave it a try. This place is massive! The restaurant sprawls across 3 different rooms plus a bar upstairs and a performance stage downstairs. I came for dinner solo on a Friday night. Service was a pinch slow but my server was really nice, it was just wildly busy! The crab cake was amazing but $28 for one order felt steep! The wings with the mambo sauce were just ok.. The sauce was the best part. The mixed greens salad with steak added was just ok too. The steak was cold and tough. Overall, 3.5/5 for decent service and that yummy crab cake. The Hamilton was a pleasant accidental surprise on our trip to DC. We happened to be walking by and decided to stop for lunch- as a family of 5 with young children, we were not disappointed. The service was very fast and efficient. We were seated immediately without a reservation. The ambiance had a very cozy and rustic atmosphere. The food was superb. We all really enjoyed our meals. I really wish the Hamilton were better. It has so many aspects of what I want, it is open late at night, it has sushi and an extensive menu of many things that I enjoy, and it has quite the cocktail list. Overall, the service of Hamilton, he is really quite good, everyone wants to help you, everyone does a pretty good job, but they seem overwhelmed. The entirety of the Hamilton is actually quite overwhelming, if you don't go during happy hour times the prices seem too high. If you go late at night, there's a bunch of people there that just do not make for the best vibe. I will probably continue to come back to the Hamilton because if you need sushi at midnight. This is a great place to do it, especially if you want to Manhattan or other cocktails go with it. However, this is not the place that I want to go on a date or with my team at work. This is a place that will never be seen as excellent because it is nothing more than mediocre, consistently every time. Come after 10 PM, eat yourself some sushi, and have a nice cocktail. You won't feel good about yourself, but you also won't feel bad about yourself. read more

Went in with an appetite and ended up getting small dishes. Very expensive place, but boy it's good! After waiting for about 15 minutes, we were seated at the back of the restaurant. Our server made sure that our diet cokes stayed full and gave us great service for how busy it was. Big fan of that. As for the food, the paprika ketchup on the sliders was a sleeper hit, and the truffle fries actually had a lot flavor and the perfect amount of crunch. As for my salad, I loved it, the flavors all complimented each other very well, but I can't say I wish it hadn't been more substantial. Next time, I'll add some protein or something. Also, try their snickers boozy milkshake, it's amazing. read more

My bride surprised me with tickets to yhe Hamilton, Wiskey Washed. The event consisted of different food service providers as well as a number of Borbon, and scotch providers. We had tickets that allowed for early entry. In addition to food there were other providers of cigars, non alcoholic beverages. Turned out to be a great venue with great conversation which created an environment a positive ambiance. The food varied in quality and taste, but generally good. read more

It's a bar and restaurant, and the restaurant part is pretty large, so yes there is kid-friendly seating

I don't think they have a particular size limit, just call in advance to block the space.

I had to order my Sushi upstairs. They have a seperate menu for the theater. This may have changed. I have not been in the theater in a couple of years. I would def call and check.

I've been there and did not see pizza on the menu. Just visited the website menu - no pizza.
Happy hour deals are only on sushi, no drinks specials?
They do have a 720 ml bottle of sake for $25 during happy hour as opposed to $30. It's a nice sake that pairs well with their sushi!

You can pay to park on the street or pay to park in a garage. They do not validate parking. There is no free parking.

How do people dress for night time concerts on the weekend?
I eat at The Hamilton all the time but I've only been to two shows there. I've seen people in everything from casual to dressy. Definitely not black tie unless they have another event before or after the concert.
Is this place ok for kids? I will be traveling with my 9-year-old daughter and I don't want to be THAT person with a kid in a grown-up establishment...
I see kids there all of the time! It shouldn't be a problem.
