I went to The Hamilton Live for the first time last night to see Sierra Hull, and now I'm literally looking for excuses to come back. I am old and have a bad back, so any opportunity to see a show sitting down is a major plus. There's a variety of seating and standing options, and it looks like the price difference between general admission and bar seating is really not that bad. Next time we'll arrive closer to doors, to get a slightly better seat. The fact that we couldn't see the stage well would have dropped my rating, except for the live screen of the stage that was clearly visible from our table. They really did think of everything. Not only was the food and drink enjoyable, the service was exceptional throughout the show. Despite a busy night, the waitstaff were very attentive and pleasant. Our waiter even brought us an extra decanter of water unasked, about 10 minutes before the end of the show, which was both kind and unexpected. I liked the system of flagging a waiter when needed and think regular restaurants could take a cue from that. read more

Wow, what an awesome experience at The Hamilton! First time ever visiting and I would absolutely return! My mom and sister came in town so we made a reservation to meet my little cousin here for dinner that lives in D.C. the place was bustling! I was so happy we had a reservation! Every table was filled or being quickly refilled once guests got up. Our waiter, David was great! Very friendly and offered his input on some of the menu selections when we asked. He also did not rush us along, which I appreciate! Let's get to the food though, whewwww! We had 3 different pastas, and a lettuce wrapped burger and salad for my mom who's being a bit carb conscious right now. We also shared some calamari and mozzarella arancini which was almost a fried mozzarella rice ball! Very different and pretty delicious! The portions were great. My only critique was the crab cake was pretty bready. As if I was eating stuffing with it. I'm also from MD which is the home of the crab cake so I'm a bit biased. Great little experience at an iconic DC bar. Super Happy with my time at the Hamilton! I was just buzzing from a jazz show over in Georgetown and I wasn't ready to head back to my hotel just yet, so I took a chance for some final food and drinks for the night and headed over to The Hamilton. Arrived at around 9pm and sat at the bar. The server Brian was super nice and gave me a run down of the company that owns a few other historical bar in the DC. While he explained that the main draw of the Hamilton was the sushi, I perused the menu and grabbed a drink. I opted for the Apple Spiced Sangria, delicious. I'm not always the biggest fan of sangria, but this one was great and different from any other I tried. Think a chilled mulled wine. Perfectly sweet and spicy. After a few sips, I was ready to try the sushi. I got some yellowtail and salmon nigiri. I loved it, it was exactly what I needed. Fresh and delicious. I'm happy they had all the wasabi and ginger I could handle to go along with it. I also tried the Lamb pappardelle. Totally hearty and great to finish off the end of the night. We were seated after a few minutes by a very friendly hostess who walked us over to our table and made some menu suggestions before she left us. Managers were present on the floor checking on tables to ensure excellent service. Our district wings came out and my first experience with Mumbo sauce has me hooked. Perfect place to get dinner before a show at Warner Theatre (just a block away)! It's a gorgeous building with a full restaurant, bar, and live music venue. They have sushi as well as an American menu. I got the crabcake entree and my mom got the scallops. Crabcakes were really good-sized with no filler and comes with crispy battered fries and coleslaw. For entree, I decided (admittedly reluctantly at first), on the Imperial Roll and the Fatty Tuna Nigiri. I am addicted to sushi, so when I find it I usually cannot resist, but I was concerned in the menu at Hamilton having so many other options and not appearing as being sushi specialized. But I dove in and it didn't disappoint. Sushi, a 3.5 of 5 stars. The added oomph for the fatty tuna- melt in your mouth, YUM!!! My colleague got the crab cake- lumps!!!! My colleagues and I were here for a work conference. We decided to try this place out on our first night. This is near the Capital and has been here forever. There are lots of rooms and lots of bars. The look of the place is very old school. We were walked through several rooms to get the main dining room, which was decorated in a bird painting motif. The menu is varied, though not inspired. They have a number if different things on the menu: lots of starters, cheese and charceturie boards, salads, pastas, steaks, fish, burgers, and sushi. The thing about menus this diverse is that is hard to do a lot of things well. We ordered some stuff to share. The fried calamari was pretty uninspired. It was ok. The cheese board and prosciutto boards were pretty good, although neither had enough bread. The drinks we ordered were good too. The entrees were well liked by most of us. The women who ordered the seafood stew and scallops were happy, though nether tasted great to me. They were both good, but not great. I had the halibut, which was cooked very well and tasted good. Again, good but not great. The desserts were both rather generic. We shared them and they were ok. The service was very good. The sever was attentive and accommodating. We all really loved the service and the general experience. So the food was ok, the service and space were great, and that ends up a solid 4. It is not fine dining, and I don't think that is the intent. But it is pretty good and not crazy expensive. It's a place that has hits and misses to be sure. read more

I visited the Hamilton for the first time in several years while family was in town for the holiday. We came for brunch on Saturday at 12pm. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we were seated, our server came and met us and offered some suggestions of the menu and we made drink requests. The cocktails came out quickly but we also asked for lemons for the water and that took over 20 minutes and several reminders. We also ordered bread for the table but it never came. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and honestly it lacked flavor and it was cold, the potatoes were overcooked and hollow inside. The shrimp & grits were also flavorless, we sent them back and ordered a shrimp bento instead. The last order was a Benedict as well that was also a miss with the flavor. I was shocked that the food was not good, my previous visits to the Hamilton were always a positive. We recently visited The Hamilton in DC and had a chance to try the Salmon Island, oysters, and grilled octopus. The oysters were fresh and well-presented, no complaints there. The salmon was decent, though not particularly memorable. Unfortunately, the grilled octopus was our least favorite, too oily, and it was buried under a mountain of grilled vegetables, making it hard to even find the actual seafood on the plate. Also, a small but surprising detail: the tea. At a place like this, you'd expect a thoughtfully brewed tea, but instead, it came as a basic tea bag you could pick up at any grocery store. Not a dealbreaker, but definitely a letdown given the setting and price point. Customer service overall was attentive and friendly, but the experience was slightly dampened by the fact that I was constantly getting bumped by staff passing behind me throughout the meal.
