I ordered it medium rare, but they brought it out well done. They made me a new one immediately and this time it was correctly done. Good food, good service. It was very odd that they brought me a just a candle for my birthday. That's a first. Did the one thing that always drives me crazy when the tip is placed on top of food and tax. That is not the way gratuity should be assigned. We are a fan of the clyde's family restaurants throughout the northern virginia area. I usually enjoy their happy hour because their oysters are also a little cheaper But we came to cordelia and as a party of four, instead of ordering the restaurant week menu, we decided to do everything a la carte. The wedge salad probably surprised me the most. Because I genuinely enjoyed the dressing in the tiny bits of bacon that they put on it. The shashito peppers were also dressed really nicely and were nicely charred. The tower was really fun to enjoy when you have a larger party. Overall, their food was really good. Great bar area - will definitely have to come back for happy hour. Lots of yum sounding cocktails on their menu. Cordelia called it and we answered with another visit but this time with friends up from Richmond. A great way to end a birthday weekend...and it did not disappoint. Our waitress read the room immediately. With a very hungry pregnant lady at the table she prioritized the Parker house rolls without being asked. This kind of attention to detail sets the tone. We later learned she was a fellow Cancer with a birthday coming up. Cancer energy is real!!! The food and drinks did not disappoint. Asparagus, calamari, shrimp cocktail, coal roasted oysters, chicken chermoula, and lump crab gratin. Worth every penny. One tip worth sharing, ask for a bit of sea salt for the chicken. The first taste lacked it and that small addition made all the difference. We were five deep which honestly matched the energy of most tables around us. The space was bright and airy and the round tables made for great socializing, easy sharing, and yes some excellent boomerang pics. Checkout was seamless. Splitting the check evenly with tap to pay right at the table got us out quickly and on to the next stop. Its menu is seafood focused but there really is something for everyone. I've visited for brunch and HHs and enjoyed each visit. Personal favorites: The coal roasted oysters, miso butter in particular, are fantastic. I literally dream about them LOL. The grilled calamari is smoky yet vinegary and vibrant. The beet and burrata salad has a great texture as a compliment to the grilled dishes. For brunch, I have enjoyed the Chesapeake Benedict and the mushroom frittata. Overall, the seafood is so fresh and high quality. Portions are great for sharing yet not super sized and it is so delicious that you won't bring anything home. If you are budget conscious and enjoy oysters, the half price raw oysters plus a few appetizers will be a great way to enjoy Cordelia Fishbar. Cocktails: a creative menu and beautiful glassware. When it comes to Happy Hour specials, Washington, DC is not short on them! Cordelia Fishbar is my favorite "upscale-esque" place to do happy hour! From Tuesday-Friday 4pm-6pm and Tuesday-Sunday 9pm-Close (two waves of Happy Hour, depending on the day), you can enjoy 50% off oysters & seafood towers!! If you love seafood, you'll know that seafood towers aren't exactly cheap! Especially ones that include crab and/or lobster! I ordered the Gilded Sea (normally $175, or $87.50 during Happy Hour), and the tower is massive! You get 24 oysters, 12 jumbo shrimp, chilled lobster, and jumbo lump crab dijonnaise. You can easily share this with one, two, or three other people. Or if you're a big back like me, skip all meals that day and eat this! I recommend eating the shrimp first, as they get soggy the longer they sit. But still tasty! The oysters were great and u enjoyed thag they offered varsity of all the oysters you see on the menu. The crab cocktail was crackers was immaculate, while the chilled lobster was an incredible way to end the meal. I sat at the bar too and the service was great! I had on jeans, rider boots and a sweater. Nothing too special. We started with the Jumbo Lump Crab Gratin, which was flavorful and enjoyable overall, though the grilled sourdough lived up to its name and came out BURNT. We requested another basket and that solved the issue, for me. Apparently, my friend did not mind. He ate it. Maybe it paired well with the dip.. I would not know. Flavor-wise, the food delivers, though there were a few surprises. I ordered the Black Sea Bass, which tasted smoked. It wasn't even advertised as blackened on the menu. That doesn't take away from the flavor. I also had a very meaty piece so I had plenty to take home. As the waiter notably mentioned, it comes with no sides so we added the Gumbo Z'Herbes, which I absolutely loved. The tuna belly bacon was a standout for me. My friend ordered the Angry Lobster Spaghettini and mentioned how good and filling it was. I was mainly focused the presentation, which was immaculate. I did not taste. We finished our dinner with dessert similar to an apple turnover served with ice cream. I enjoyed it, though my date wasn't particularly wowed. The cocktails were delicious and part of a seasonal menu, and we had a couple each. They were strong enough that we leaned into the experience and ordered more. One quirky detail that stuck with me was going through four straws because they kept cracking. Not something to be upset about, but memorable nonetheless, especially with a few unused cracked straws lingering on the table. Overall, I'd give Cordelia Fish Bar four stars. While the food and drinks landed in the "average" category for me, the atmosphere, decor, and overall experience pushed it above average. I also appreciated that two different managers stopped by to check on us, which added a thoughtful touch to the evening. One final note... since it's located in Union Market, parking can be a bit of a scavenger hunt depending on timing. Let me just start off by saying I came into this restaurant with a very large group of people for a bridal shower and they were overly accommodating! We went during brunch and it was absolutely one of the most flavorful brunches that I've ever experienced. There was a vast variety of options, which was great for a group of 20 people. I got the avocado and crab toast, and I also sampled the crab au gratin dip which had so much crab. I couldn't believe it! Typically, when people give you a lump crab, there may be a half a lump of one piece of crab. This place was not skimping on food at all. The portions are quite generous, and the dining experience was incredible! I want to send a special shout out to my server Crystal, I believe there's a another gentleman. I cannot remember his name. He was an older African-American gentleman, and the manager, Kenuel. They were all so kind and hospitable! The manager saw that I was struggling to find a place for my bag and literally brought a coat rack over for myself and the other ladies to hang up our purses and items as to not impede our meal! Their weekday oyster happy hour is from 4-6pm (oysters and shellfish towers are half off) which is super nice if you like oysters (alas I do not). I went with one friend and we were pretty hungry; we got two large plates, one small plate, and one shrimp cocktail (and my friend ordered 6 oysters during happy hour). The small plate we got was the calamari which was VERY delicious. Perfectly chewy not rubbery overcooked. The two large plates we got were the seafood chowder and the lobster spaghettini. The seafood chowder was very good, very hearty and so much good seafood! It was maybe a touch salty, but I'd get it again. The lobster spaghettini was amazing the lobster tasted amazing the sauce was so delicious: spicy and creamy! The waitstaff were really nice and friendly. Highly recommend this place. The Linguine frutti di mare was absolutely delicious! Drinks were great! My friend had an issue with their order and they were able to correct it right away without any fuss ! So the floor manager is great, our server was amazing and the ambience is really spacious and nice ! I love a delicious Crudo and it was so well seasoned with just the right amount of citrus flavors coming through ! The oysters were actually super delicious as well, loved that it was cooked and seasoned well! I think this is a great restaurant to return to, highly recommended! read more

I'll tell you upfront - the food is soooo good here. Everything is very flavorful. Now, let me start from the beginning... I came during brunch on a Saturday, around 1p. It wasn't packed at all. As soon as you enter, there's a hostess desk to the left and someone is there to greet you and get you seated. The hostess was pleasant. The ambiance is very warm: wood and leather everywhere. The seating looks comfortable and it is. It's cozy but also sophisticated. We sat in a booth near the windows and the sunlight came in nicely. Our server was Amy. For this being my first time going, she really made a great impression on me and my friends. She was patient and had a lot of personality. Her customer service is on point. Shoutout to Amy. We pretty much did that bottomless drinks (minus the Bloody Mary). A couple of the drinks were more ice than liquor (port light & fogcutter). At one point, the ice machine was acting up in the back and when they brought refills of those drinks out, it looked like a double shot in a tall glass. Seemed like a waste of money. But the drinks tasted good. I also got the two tequila cocktails on the menu, they were good as well. Now, onto the food. We started with Cajun oysters and tuna tartare. Both were bomb. The oysters were so flavorful! For the mains, here's what we got: steak and eggs, eggs chesapeake, and prawns & waffles. Everything was good but the prawns could have been better, unfortunately. Not terrible but could be better. We all shared the grand cinnamon roll and that right there?! Delicious. It was warm, soft and almost tangy. It was so good. I've been back twice lol. I added the calamari. The calamari was cooked to perfection, no breading or frying. It also comes served on yummy sauce. I highly recommend, the end. read more

I really enjoyed this restaurant. It's located in Union Market but it wasn't too packed like other restaurants in that area that I've been to. Our waitress was amazing, friendly and answered our many questions. I loved the inside of the restaurant and they have outdoor seating as well. You have to try the crab dip. It was the best I've ever had. Jumbo lump crab meat mixed with cheese and it was life changing. After having that I opted for the crab cake which didn't disappoint either. For dessert, I have the s'mores bread pudding- another win. I will absolutely be back. Everything was amazing! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Cordelia for brunch. It is a costal inspired seafood restaurant that focuses on sustainable practices and charcoal cooking. The brunch features a bottomless drink option for $33 that comes with mimosas and a few rum cocktail options. I really enjoyed all three cocktails I tried but would highly recommend 3 dots and a dash. I also had the steak and eggs and the cinnamon roll and both were delicious and filling. Our server Ebon was also fantastic. Very attentive and inviting and he did a great job of explaining the menu options. read more
