First time at Kaché and it was great! The service, the DJ and the food were all really good. I think my favorite bites were the crab hush puppies and the calamari. I've never had calamari with mumbo sauce before but I'm now a fan! Melissa and Wes were amazing. Will definitely be back

We celebrated my little one's 11th birthday here and all had a wonderful time! This restaurant is super cool in many ways. It's a bit eclectic in the diverse music it plays on the playlist and the flavors of food. The decor of the walls made it feel like I'm transported to a new world. And the food was very fun and unique, good for foodies! And last but not least, exceptional service! To be fair, we were there for early dinner/ happy hour on a weekday so there weren't many other patrons, so they were super duper nice to us. It made my daughter feel special on her birthday. Every dish here had some twist to it. The owner explained that she wanted to bring the world of flavors together in one place. My favorite items were the Quiet Crabs (hush puppies), the Sweet Spot (crispy shrimp), sweet potato flat bread, and the cookie dessert that I forgot to take a picture of. Our waitress brought our burger over with the glazed onion sauce on the side because she wasn't sure my kids would like it. And she was totally correct. My husband and I loved that sauce so we used extra for our bite. I like that all the staff were super thoughtful in doing things like this! The bartender gave us some small samples of a drink that he named Quiet Night. And they gave us free dessert for my daughter's birthday. Our entire experience here was awesome, and I couldn't have asked for anything better!

Kache is a black owned restaurant serving globally inspired American cuisine. They have a great happy hour selection available Tuesday to Friday from 5-7 pm. I would recommend the margarita, mule, quiet crab, shrimp, chicken sandwich and fries. I sat at the bar and the service was great. They also play music on select nights after 9 pm. The dining room has a dimly lit intimate vibe and the enclosed patio is perfect for the happy hour.

We had a glass of Prosecco and a federal flower to start with. The Prosecco was good as Prosecco usually is. The federal flower was excited for the mango but it was a soft hint of it. I think muddled mangos may change the game on a drink like this ! We got the fries and cabbage to start with fries they give you the perfect amount to share and the aioli is beyond words so good ! The cabbage was . . . Interesting it has the potential to be perfect but there's something on top that makes the dish extremely bitter and it over powers and takes over the taste of the cabbage. The Brussels were good they do have a bit of spice to them and grapes but it's not a bad mix at all just be prepared. The sweet potatoes were also good ! The mocktails are delicious here. We also had the absolute best service from entering the establishment until we left. The owner came out and she checked on each table. We had Darwin as our server and he made sure we were taken care of the entire time. When we arrived they offered to take our coats and umbrella and just treated us well the entire time. I would absolutely come back and vibe out at the bar. They had a really good music selection as well

This has become my new happy hour spot. Five dollar food options and $10 drink options. You really cannot beat that in DC. Everything wants to charge you, the arm, the leg, the back, the neck, the hair, the nails. Not this spot tons of things to try Wednesday happy hour goes till 8 PM all night half off on wine you cannot beat that. Staff very knowledgeable shows that they know what they're doing what they're talking about they care. The sommelier very nice gentleman that definitely knows his wines. Had an amazing Malbec blend that I had to go pick up myself. My favorites are the K St. fries with the truffle aïoli with a federal flower drink one drink is typically you're good to go, but of course your girl never stops there. She always does a bit too much so I end up having several so I would say the margarita is also good but like I said that wine to the blend must try parking. Here is what parking is in DC so just don't try it. I always park on Ice Street. The vibe there is a really cute vibe as well. They have a nice little indoor outdoor space as well as a TV downstairs that will typically play different sporting events if that's your thing.

Visiting Kache during their soft opening and I had good time. The food was the star of the show. The Taiwanese fried chicken was excellent. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. The servers were nice but needed more time with the menu, but that can be developed with time. It was a good vibe in the lounge area upstairs with a bar and good music. The vibe downstairs was different. More quiet and isolating than the rest of the restaurant. I did however like the coat check option, as the lounge area upstairs didn't have much seating let alone space to check your coat. There were lounge seating along the wall, but the seating across from the lounge seating was a low chair stool, which wasn't the most comfortable for long sitting periods. Nonetheless, like I said it was a good vibe and I'm looking forward to the grand opening.

Let's start off by saying, as someone who grew up in DC, the city has really morphed into a place where you can truly experience what it means to be an adult with top-tier dining options--and Kaché DC fits right into that evolution. We came on a Wednesday night and from the moment we walked in, the staff was warm, welcoming, and attentive. The décor is very appealing--super cute and stylish. A few of my dining companions are on the taller side and requested chairs with backs, and the staff happily accommodated without hesitation. The bartender was amazing. He crafted custom cocktails for us and even named one after my friend--so when you go, ask for "The Byron," smoked. You won't regret it. I had the Secret Garden Refresher, and it lived up to its name: light, crisp, and very refreshing. We started with the K Street Fries--crispy, well-seasoned, and absolutely delicious. We also tasted the Hey Mambo, which is their unique take on calamari, and we loved the mambo sauce. The Quiet Crab is a winner too--thinking it was going to be more hushpuppy than anything, we were pleasantly surprised that it was packed with crab. 10 out of 10, highly recommend. For entrees: * Mimi's Po' Boy (shrimp): The bread was soft, the shrimp were fried to perfection, and the remoulade added the perfect balance of flavor. It also came with fries, which were a great complement. * Smoke & Stack Burger: Cooked exactly as requested, super juicy, and paired perfectly with the fries. It was devoured--no crumbs left behind. For dessert, we shared the Sticky Toffee Cookie and the Soft Landing. The Sticky Toffee Cookie was my favorite--rich, warm, and comforting. The only thing missing was a scoop of ice cream to take it over the top. Overall, Kaché has a nice, chill vibe with great food, creative cocktails, and attentive service. It's definitely on our list of places to revisit.

I visited Kache for the first time, and truly had an amazing experience. The happy hour menu provides a wide range of small plates for $5 and drinks for $10. The dinner menu has additional appetizers and larger entrees with unique and creative twists on flatbreads, burgers, chicken, and more. We had the Quiet Crabs (crab hush puppies), Hey Mambo (calamari), Crab Yew Tew (crab pasta), Flip The Bird (fried chicken), She Said (eggplant), Crispy Business (Brussels sprouts) and the Sticky Toffee Cookie. My favorites were the crab hush puppies, fried chicken, which was soft yet crunchy, and Brussels sprouts, which were seasoned to perfection. The dessert toffee cookie was a great way to end the meal -- it was like a this gingerbread pancake topped with caramel and cream. I enjoyed each dish and the workers had great energy and amazing service. This restaurant is new but I look forward to seeing it grow and I want to try more of the happy hour items, as well as the tuna flatbread.

Kaché was even more than I expected! I'll absolutely be back. I live fairly close, so I'll also be a regular, especially when weather warms up to enjoy the beautiful & spacious patio. Kaché offers not just vibes and beautiful decor, but a thoughtfully curated menu that makes you want to order everything. The menu item names are also really catchy and pay homage to the area, so they really stand out. From the moment we walked in, the service was top-tier. Two levels, a sexy upstairs bar, and cocktails that were both beautiful and packed a punch. Lumi manages the bar with precision and makes sure everyone is well taken care of. I'm talking over the top amazing service! What we ordered: Hey Mambo Calamari - perfectly cooked Crispy Business - brussels with bold, unexpected twists Flip the Bird - Taiwanese-style fried chicken with hot honey sauce I could literally drink Federal Flower Spritz & Chocolate City Dream with tequila Finished with a Good Ol'Fashioned Filibuster + Sticky Toffee Cookie They also have hour M-F from 4-6:30 with $5/$10 app & drink specials. I'll absolutely be back

A solid 3.5! I've been here twice now. The outside patio and bar area is great and I've enjoyed sitting there both times. The happy hour menu has great prices and generous portions. I truly loved the crab hush puppies and I would recommend them to anyone. There are only two but they're very rich and absolutely delicious (no skimping on the crab). The chicken sandwich had great portions but the chicken was soft/soggy - I prefer a crisp fried chicken so that didn't hit for me, and the bun was a bit sad/dry. I was hoping for a bit more heat in the sauce since it mentioned gochujang. The sticky toffee pudding was a major miss for me. The cookie was hard and dry, bland, and served lukewarm. I was hoping for warm and gooey. Especially for a sticky toffee pudding-based dessert! The whipped cream on it was really good but the sauce was sickly sweet and missing salt across the board. I would be willing to go back to try some other mains and to order the happy hour crab hush puppies again, because those are special, but I wasn't impressed overall by the quality. Service was slow but they're new and I imagine that will change with time. It was easy to walk in without reservations.

Two friends and I visited Kaché last night and had a great experience! First off, the customer service was exceptional! Our waiter, Darwin, and the GM, Mucilina (hope I'm spelling that right) were extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. Definitely made us feel more than welcome. The atmosphere upstairs was cozy and sexy. Definitely cute for a date night. We tried a lot of menu items and enjoyed everything. The Crab Yew Tew, Zino, Brussels, calamari, hush puppies, sweet potato flatbread, and all three desserts. My favorite dessert was the sticky toffee cookie. The music playing in the background was a nice R&B vibe. Overall, I would definitely recommend and would certainly return.

I really hate leaving bad reviews. We had a party of 7. The service was just ok and the waitress started off fine but then had an attitude when we asked for our drinks whixh we could see where sitting on the bar for 10 minutes. It was an espresso martini and 2 bottles of champagne. Not a very complicated order and it sat for 10 minutes. This is where the attitude started. It was only one bottle of champagne so when we asked for rhe 2nd bottle she said o its coming. It's 7 people one bottle of champagne is done after you fill 5 glasses. The next bottle came 20 min later. The food was fine, portions could have been larger. The biggest issue came from the bill. When she arrived with the bill we asked was gratuity Included she said yes, no problem. They had a tap to pay option no printed receipt. When we paid they handed us a printed receipt whixh had the 20% gratuity like she said, however there was a other 20% charge for large party. So in total 40%, 40% is criminal! The never mentioned this, so almost half the bill was fees. If you are charging a crazy large party fee let people know and of so make sure the service matches that. Terrible business practice to charge a large party fee of 20%.

I came here after seeing this spot pop up on Instagram for happy hour, and finding out it's only been open for about six weeks made me even more excited to check it out. I've got high hopes for this place. The happy hour menu has around 12 items between food and drinks, and I ordered almost everything. The food was all $5 and drinks were $10 which is a really good price for a happy hour. The fried crab hush puppies were really good, even though you only get two and they're probably the smallest portion on the menu. Still worth ordering. The chicken sandwich was super fire. Very flavorful, with a sauce that had a little heat and sweetness to it. I was genuinely surprised by the size. For $5, I was expecting a slider, but this was a full sandwich. My favorite food item was easily the crispy shrimp with mumbo sauce. The sauce had a serious kick, and it came with these cucumber slices that tasted lightly pickled with chili and vinegar. That combo was elite. I also grabbed the fried chicken to go, paired it with the truffle gravy and hot pot sauce, mixed them together, and yeah... that was gas. Drink-wise, the margarita was my favorite. Perfect balance of sweet and sour, not overly tart like a lot of lime margaritas can be. I also tried the fed flower, which was solid, especially if you're into gin. The mezcal mule was the only miss for me. Not bad, just way too much ginger, so I passed it to my plus one. The only thing worth noting is service speed. We were literally the only two people in the restaurant since we came right when they opened, and while drinks came out quickly, the food took a bit longer than expected. Not enough to knock off a star, but something to keep in mind if the place gets busy. Overall, I'll definitely be back. This is for sure getting added to my happy hour rotation, and I've already heard they may start doing DC brunch, which I'll absolutely be pulling up for. Strong start for a new spot and a lot of potential here.

When everyone who just dined at this restaurant, asks each other, "how does this place stay in…read morebusiness?" when offering such a good deal for all you can eat crab legs and all you can drink. You know it was a solid meal and the experience was excellent! We had a special occasion, and we all came out for all you can eat crab legs. All you can eat cornbread and all you can drink. The alcoholic beverages were limited to Jim beam old-fashioned, red or white sangria, and a limited draft beer select selection. For all you can drink, you would usually expect a water down lower quality beverage, however, that was not the case. The old-fashioned were very well made. The red sangria was decadent and not overly sweet. And the draft beer was a good old draft beer. Caroline was our server. She was absolutely excellent. She was attentive, polite patient with us. Always making sure we were all taken care of. She helped make our meal even better. The decor of this restaurant is very high class. Visually it's very well, appointed with table, linens, cloth, napkins, and cohesive color scheme. With the decor, high-quality drinks and the high-quality food we were more than happy to pay the $70 for all you can eat and drink. I highly recommend this place. I have to make sure to come back sooner than later.

Unfortunately, that's where the experience started to go downhill. The food itself was good, but the service from Jordan honestly put a damper on the afternoon. On such a busy holiday, I understand things can get hectic, but we constantly had to ask for basic things like water and for our dirty dishes to be cleared, and the service was extremely slow and inattentive. I ordered pancakes from the menu. I waited nearly 30 minutes for pancakes because certain menu items apparently had to be ordered separately. And I had to ask about them twice. He keep blaming the kitchen, but I honestly think that it was him. To make matters worse, Jordan spilled water on my daughter's food and on the floor. His shirt was also visibly dirty with food and water stains on the front, which was not the most professional appearance. From where we were seated, we could also see him taking several breaks while the restaurant was busy. I didn't want to complain in the moment because my children planned this outing for me, and I didn't want to put a damper on the afternoon. But for me, service really makes or breaks a restaurant experience. And respectfully, some people are meant to be servers and some people are not. Serving may just not be Jordan's strength. He seemed overwhelmed, extremely slow, and honestly confused for most of our visit. And they were adding 20% gratuity automatically. He did not deserve 20% AT all! He soured my Mother's Day experience which was truly unfortunate. The food and ambiance were there -- the service unfortunately was not. A different server would have made this a five star experience.

tl;dr -- 3.5/5, but bumping it to a 4/5 for the attentive service…read more Mallard's been on my friend and I's list for awhile, so we got dinner here for our catch-up meal this past Tuesday. The interior leans into a nostalgic Southern theme rooted in a different era, with warm red-brown tones, vintage frames lining the walls, and some duck-related decor. After placing our order, our server brought out a small serving of French onion soup for us to enjoy, compliments of the chef. The soup was incredibly creamy and smooth with a nice acidity. The bits of fried onion on top gave it a sweeter flavor that had us wanting more. SEA ISLAND PEA DIP - 9 Duck Fat Saltines, Benne Seeds The house-made saltines were a nice touch, with a wheat-y and nutty texture and flavor that's missing in the store-bought ones. I love the pea dip, which was mixed with benne seeds, for a smooth, yet gritty flavor. My friend thought it tasted a bit too heavy of a "fennel" flavor, but I personally enjoyed it. FOIE GRAS & WAFFLES - 23 This was easily our favorite dish of the night. The combination of flavors and textures was outstanding: silky, umami-rich foie gras balanced by tart pickled apples, grounded by the familiar comfort of waffle, and brought together with a savory onion sauce and apple butter. The foie gras maple syrup was quite delicious, definitely a unique pairing. PENNSYLVANIA PEKIN DUCK - 46 Given that there would be Peking-style duck breast, with sauce reminiscent of hoisin on the side, we thought there would have been some sort of bun to pair with it. Despite that, the duck breast was so juicy and perfectly prepared. The collard greens were delicious. The fried chicken leg was great with the meat falling off the bone easily. The batter was not overdone either. Definitely a standout dish, with the duck breast being the highlight. GRIDDLED WILD BLUE CATFISH - 31 The dish featured a small slab of lightly battered catfish with a generous pour of the she-crab chowder, which read more like a sauce given how reduced and salty it was on its own. Since we family-styled everything, we only had a couple bites of the catfish each. We enjoyed the peanut potato, but left majority of the bacon and chowder since it was too salty. A few pieces of toast would've gone a long way in balancing the dish, which was a shame, as the chowder itself was quite seafood-forward and savory. "COFFEE & CIGARETTES" - 15 Lastly, we ended our night with our dessert featured on an ashtray. A generous scoop of espresso ice cream topped with chocolate mousse, topped with tobacco caramel and olive oil. There were also espresso morsels on the side, with its bitterness cutting through the overall sweetness of the dessert just a bit. This was good, but a bit too rich and sweet for my taste. While there were a couple standouts, my friend and I both agreed that Mallard is fine, but not great (echoing a couple other reviews). We're glad we tried it, but it's hard to say when we'd be back.
