Came for a brunch date with my husband. We didn't realized that selected number of meals were cooked to order, so it was a pleasant surprise that it wasn't fully buffet. I tried a few items from the buffet and almost every item from the cook to order menu and everything was really good! They have crab legs too! YUM! They have a private room that looked nice and you can rent out for a large party as well. I would def recommend and be back!

I stopped by Hen Quarter for brunch to spend some time with a friend who was in town. It was my first time visiting and after hearing so much about it, I was excited to finally see what they had to offer. At first glance, the space is beautiful and huge! There is plenty of seating whether you want to hang at one of the bars or dine with friends. It's a great spot for big parties, group dinners or events. For brunch we chosethe all you can eat food and drink option. Some of the food is buffet style and other items have to be requested from the menu and brought out to the table. The food itself was just okay. Nothing was bad but nothing really stood out for me either. I also tried the old fashioneds but found out they were pre-made and weren't great. Overall the experience was just okay for me. I'd possibly come back to explore other items on the menu or check out their happy hour options but i'm glad I finally got a chance to finally visit. I enjoyed the ambiance and the energy of the space and would definitely come back for that.

I forgot to take pictures but headquarter prime was awesome. We came on a day where they did the like bottomless crab, legs, and cornbread, and awesome love the crab legs. The cornbread was fire. They also included drinks on that like bundle so I was able to get like endless sangrias. The sangrias were good. The crabs were good. The cornbread was good. We was trying to take that joint home so bad. The service was good. She was bringing crab legs again and again I was full when I left this place for sure in my whole family was impressed by all of it. This place was nice for sure. I will be back.

I went here for Sunday brunch and was pleasantly surprised by the tucked away location along the river. I arrived on time but it was sooooo busy/crowded that it took 15 minutes to get help/seated. Once I was finally seated it took 20 minutes for the wait to come over. The brunch menu includes budget items (catfish, chicken, bacon, Mac & cheese, salad, etc) and the items you can order from the server (French toast, biscuits, avo toast etc). I ordered 2 biscuits and a drink ... they didn't come. I had to ask for the drink after 20 minutes (my companion ordered mimosas) and it took an additional 20 minutes for the pineapple. The food at the buffet was very picked over and the condiments were never refreshed. I found it odd that bowls of seasoning were on the table (there has to be another way). I ordered a second drink and again it took forever for it to come. When we were ready to leave it took the server 30 minutes to come and check us out. The food was good, but the service is far too slow and it was really loud in the small, tight area behind the bar.

Ask to sit in Ashley's section for great service!!!!

On 16 May 2026, my friends and I enjoyed brunch at Hen Quarter Prime. The brunch starts at $45 per person. We upscaled by adding the seafood and endless mimosas packet. Our server Ashley kept our glasses and plates full with mimosas, crab legs and shrimp. The buffet included omelets, waffles, bacon, sausage, chicken, grits, greens, salad, mac&cheese etc. Ummmm If you've never been, and you want great attentive service, delicious food, and inviting ambiance do brunch at Hen Quarter Prime. Our server Ashley made our experience at Hen Quarter Prime special! Thanks Ashley

When everyone who just dined at this restaurant, asks each other, "how does this place stay in business?" when offering such a good deal for all you can eat crab legs and all you can drink. You know it was a solid meal and the experience was excellent! We had a special occasion, and we all came out for all you can eat crab legs. All you can eat cornbread and all you can drink. The alcoholic beverages were limited to Jim beam old-fashioned, red or white sangria, and a limited draft beer select selection. For all you can drink, you would usually expect a water down lower quality beverage, however, that was not the case. The old-fashioned were very well made. The red sangria was decadent and not overly sweet. And the draft beer was a good old draft beer. Caroline was our server. She was absolutely excellent. She was attentive, polite patient with us. Always making sure we were all taken care of. She helped make our meal even better. The decor of this restaurant is very high class. Visually it's very well, appointed with table, linens, cloth, napkins, and cohesive color scheme. With the decor, high-quality drinks and the high-quality food we were more than happy to pay the $70 for all you can eat and drink. I highly recommend this place. I have to make sure to come back sooner than later.

Let's start with the good, the ambience is super cute, pink decor, I love, and great views and location; service is pretty good- we sat at the bar- however I hate to give this place a subpar review but a real foodie has to come thru and give you the real...the fried chicken was a no it was dry and tasted old. The Brussel sprouts were delicious we got them without pork, super delicious and flavorful. The oysters Rockefeller was really good as well as the steak and fries. Collard greens were flavorless. The fried green tomatoes were bland, just tasted straight cornmeal not a lick of seasoning: the deviled eggs were pretty good as well, also got those without the bacon and enjoyed them. The black eyed peas were decent as well. Lastly, the cornbread was good it tasted like cake. Overall I guess people come here for the specials like the unlimited $69 crab legs. Would I come back maybe but it's definitely not at the top of my list.

I visited for the Mother's Day brunch, and I'll start by saying the atmosphere was beautiful. I loved the decor, the music playing, and the hostess stand was warm and friendly. Unfortunately, that's where the experience started to go downhill. The food itself was good, but the service from Jordan honestly put a damper on the afternoon. On such a busy holiday, I understand things can get hectic, but we constantly had to ask for basic things like water and for our dirty dishes to be cleared, and the service was extremely slow and inattentive. I ordered pancakes from the menu. I waited nearly 30 minutes for pancakes because certain menu items apparently had to be ordered separately. And I had to ask about them twice. He keep blaming the kitchen, but I honestly think that it was him. To make matters worse, Jordan spilled water on my daughter's food and on the floor. His shirt was also visibly dirty with food and water stains on the front, which was not the most professional appearance. From where we were seated, we could also see him taking several breaks while the restaurant was busy. I didn't want to complain in the moment because my children planned this outing for me, and I didn't want to put a damper on the afternoon. But for me, service really makes or breaks a restaurant experience. And respectfully, some people are meant to be servers and some people are not. Serving may just not be Jordan's strength. He seemed overwhelmed, extremely slow, and honestly confused for most of our visit. And they were adding 20% gratuity automatically. He did not deserve 20% AT all! He soured my Mother's Day experience which was truly unfortunate. The food and ambiance were there -- the service unfortunately was not. A different server would have made this a five star experience.

One of the only restaurants in this particular area so we visited for happy hour. Very nicely decorated inside and it seems quite spacious- I need to come back for their brunch. I got the smash burger which came out at the wrong temp at first but was quickly remedied. I cannot remember what I had to drink but it was delicious. A pricier happy hour. The waiter was very pleasant.

I went to Hen Quarter to celebrate my birthday. They staff were welcoming (Kiki and our server B was great!) I loved their weekly deals and they tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend the steak and old bay wings!

All you can eat crab legs. Service was ridiculously slow even though the restaurant was empty. Crab legs were overcooked. The shells were like rubber making them impossible to open. Not recommended

I'd only been to Hen Quarter in Old Town for brunch, so I wasn't sure what to expect here but this location did not disappoint. A few friends and I came for happy hour on a Thursday and were pleasantly surprised to find a bottomless snow crab legs + cocktails deal for $69. Absolute steal. Pro tip: come hungry, because they keep the crabs coming out hot and fresh. Our waiter was friendly and efficient, making sure everything flowed smoothly. We added a few sides: cornbread, fries, mushrooms, and collards... all solid. The drink options were great, too: beer, mimosas, sangria, house champagne, and even a Jim Beam Old Fashioned, which you could mix and match throughout the night. The space itself is huge, which makes it great for groups. The only downside is parking if there's a Nats game (like the night we went), be prepared for limited or pricey options. Bonus: they had live music, and when I say the band and lead singer put on a show, they had the whole place moving. By the time we left at 9:30, people were up dancing and singing along. The lead singer was giving birthday shoutouts to those celebrating. All around, a fun night and definitely worth it.

We came here for their Wednesday night special with a few friends. For $40 as of June 16 2025 you can get bottomless wings and an old fashioned. Nothing can be substituted everything comes as is. They had 3 sauces one went two dry rubs and everything was great. They bring you 20 wings to start then 10 and 10 until you can't eat anymore. Best to come On an empty stomach. Our waiter I believe her name may start with a J she was amazing. Very attentive checked in on us refilled everything so quickly while waiting on several other tables. The food always came out hot. The resturant itself is beautiful there is an indoor and outdoor area and a decent sized bar area. This resturant is also right by the water and the outdoor seating is covered. The fries were so good and salad was perfect not too much dressing everything was balanced perfectly. I will definitely be back

And let me tell y'all... it definitely lived up to the hype. This place is an experience all by itself. There are different stations depending on what you're ordering, so at first I was a little confused , but once I figured it out, everything moved pretty smoothly. The staff was patient, answered my questions, and helped me figure out exactly what I wanted. I decided to order three fresh oysters and a half-pound of shrimp with Old Bay seasoning, and I was so excited because I absolutely LOVE seafood. The oysters? 10/10. Fresh, clean, and exactly what I hoped they'd be. Every bite reminded me why I love oysters so much. The shrimp were another highlight. They were a really nice size, perfectly seasoned with Old Bay, and paired perfectly with a little butter and lemon. They were simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. I also got to sit outside with some amazing people while everyone compared what they ordered. We had everything from red snapper and whiting to flounder, fries, sweet potato fries, and macaroni salad on the table. It was fun hearing everyone's opinions while we all rated our meals together. Those are the moments that make food even more enjoyable. If I had one small critique, it would be the fries. They weren't my favorite, but honestly, I came for the seafood, and that's exactly what delivered. My overall rating: 9/10. Fresh seafood, a fun atmosphere, beautiful waterfront views, and great company made this one of my favorite food stops during my trip to Washington, D.C. Thank you, Jessie Taylor Seafood, for an experience I'll definitely remember. I can't wait to come back and try even more of the menu. That's Just How Life Goes... and of course, Just How Food Goes.

This past weekend, I finally returned for dinner with a couple of friends after a show at Arena Stage. The restaurant is still stunning. Everything was tasty, but the entrees really blew my mind - beautiful and delicious. We also each had a glass or two of wine, and they have a great wine list. The service was very friendly, but at some point during our early dinner (our reservation was for 5pm), they got busy and our server disappeared a bit as he got busier. There aren't a lot of places in this city doing that, and certainly not at a location like this. If you want a great deal at one of the best spots in town, this is it. The food is outstanding across the board. I'd say they have the single best seafood tower in all of DC. Fiola Mare used to hold that title for me, but they went all crudo, so Del Mar wins now. If you want exotic Mediterranean seafood, this is where you go. They also have Ibérico ham that they hand slice the way you get it in Spain, which is worth ordering by itself. The tapas are great too. The garlic shrimp is outstanding, and those little stuffed peppers with cod inside are divine. Then there's the steak. It's expensive, no way around it, but the strip is hands down the best steak I've ever had in the Washington area. Not exaggerating. You sit out on the water and it genuinely feels like you're in another country. My one complaint is parking. It's expensive as heck around the Wharf and really hard to find. Fifty dollars is extreme in my opinion, especially when you have to hunt for a spot to pay that much. But here's the trick: come for happy hour at three and parking is wide open, because nobody's there yet. The nightmare starts in the evening. Honestly, you could make a business selling your parking spot to the people who've been circling that lot for an hour. That's the reality down there. Come early, park easy, eat well, pay less. Best happy hour in DC.

Through my Yelping, I found Del Mar, which offers excellent Spanish cuisine with gluten-free options. We arrived during happy hour, so we took advantage of their specials at their cylindrical bar with curved architectural accents. The bar's design is a wicked-cool setup that creates separation from the main dining area, with smaller nooks that allow for more personal conversation without being drowned out by other parties. The bar chairs were a vibrant nautical blue that contrasted well with the red stripes of the exterior bar panels. For my money, you can't go wrong with freshly shucked oysters that were half-priced. Crisp and delicious, they made a great starter that paired well with the jamon, olive, and sardine skewers. Additionally, they offered gluten-free pan con tomate and bread that was quite magical, which paired well with the Spanish Negronis we enjoyed - made with Spanish fortified wine and Amontillado sherry that gave the Italian classic a sophisticated twist. I would return on my next trip for the opulent interior and fantastic cuisine and cocktails.

I would say this place is absolutely gorgeous inside! It is definitely on the fancier side, and we…read morewere a little underdressed, but honestly, it was totally fine. It looked like there was a birthday party going on, and the host sat us right in the middle of it. But we were there to eat, have a good time, and enjoy brunch with friends! You can order off the menu, and the portions were great. We ordered the steak and eggs and were able to get one steak rare and the other medium rare, which was great. The truffle mac & cheese was amazing, and the crêpes and French toast were both delicious. The entire buffet was fantastic! The brisket was super juicy and didn't have much fat on it. The mussels and shrimp were also great. My only suggestion would be to add more grits to the shrimp and grits because it was mostly shrimp. Three people at our table ordered one mimosa, and later the server came back to ask if they wanted more. It was a clever way to get us to order the unlimited mimosas, and our server definitely got us there! There were five of us, and the tip was already added to the bill, which was fine, but just make sure you double-check your check before paying. Overall, we had a great experience! We didn't have a reservation but were still able to get in and only waited about 15 minutes. I would definitely come back for brunch!

As for the food, it was good but just shy of great. I had the short rib hash. I thought the beef would be more shredded but it was in chunks. It was more like pot roast than short ribs. And my portion needed some salt. They treated my friend well for her birthday with the very nice treat. I'm withholding a star for the service . It was friendly but so slow. I still think it's worth your time.
