Can in for a quick bite and the leek and pulled chicken croquettes do not disappoint. They were fresh, hot, and had a really good flavor. The space is nice and service was friendly.

We came here for Valentine's Day and had a great time. The wharf on Valentine's Day was for one a horrible idea, but the Fish Shop was so accommodating when we called to mention we were struggling to find parking which is what was making us late. They held our reservation and were beyond understanding. Once seated we were greeted promptly and our questions answered. We did the Valentine's menu and I loved everything I had. Our server mentioned the items on the Valentine's menu wouldn't be a usual and that even things on the general menu can change. The seafood is very fresh and the menu really highlights that. They were also able to accommodate allergies and food preferences. We will definitely be back to try out other items.

Virginia peanuts. These are an absolute must!!!

Tucked in the corner of the wharf you will find Fish Shop. A absolutely gorgeous restaurant with great views of the water at the wharf. Fish Shop is a recent addition to the Michelin guide for DC, and very well deserved. The restaurant is very open and filled with light from the floor to ceiling windows. It feels very open and comfortable. Decorated simply which leaves the food to do all the talking. We sat at the bar for brunch which to me was a great choice. The bartender was extremely friendly and a wealth of knowledge about the food and cocktails. The food came out quick, and the staff was extremely professional. The food is the star!!! Everything we had was absolutely delicious. Oysters were a highlight and although it sounds simple the peanuts were a highlight as well. Can't forget about the trout tartar either. Amazing spot, highly recommended. I will definitely be going back.

Beautiful interior with hand made fish hanging from the ceiling and textured wave walls.

Beautiful space overlooking the water, high ceilings, cool decor, thoughtful sustainable design and a locavore menu. Service was friendly and informative. My server helped me pick a nice Virginia rose The smoked trout crumpets were disappointing- the trout topping was just a rather bland mush and the crumpet was fried (?). The Virginia peanuts were also not particularly exciting. My monkfish was perfectly cooked with a nice crisp exterior and a moist interior, with a delightful but not overpowering sauce. My friends trout was good though my favorite part was the orzo. I wasn't a fan of the clams. The apple sorbet was ho hum on its own, but paired beautifully with the apple brandy cocktail! Would love to come back during the day to enjoy the views and the lunch specials.

The Fish shop has a lot of potential, but unfortunately the food lacks flavor. The catfish sandwich taste bland, over cooked and there's more bread and toppings than the fish. I had to removed a lot of the toppings, so I could taste or even see the small portion of the fish. I did enjoy the tuna tots and added a star for the Bartender drinks on this day. He's a true mixologist and can make anything. The drinks were strong and delicious. But unfortunately it will take more than $19 cocktails to survive at the Wharf or just in DC. The staff was extremely nice. Cons: There's a good burger, but is only served during brunch. Pretty strange time to only have it on the menu. Food lacks flavor

Crab crumpets and ahi tuna on tater tots

Amazing gilded hour options! Good customer service and very attentive as they check in with us frequently. The decors and the place give nice and clean vibes. Surprised that not many people come in on a day before holiday. Absolutely will come back and try some of entrees! Ordered gin and tonic- very good, not watered down at all and very strong. So it was quality alcohol choice! Old bay fries were amazing! Fresh and crispy full of old bay flavors. Almost like McDonald fries but 10x better! Tried some small bites such as fried oyster with tartar sauce - very crispy and delicious. Crab crumpet was very delicate and delicious. Pretty pricey for a bite if you must know. Ahi tuna on tater tot was good but not much of flavors to be wowed. I'd choose something else! Focaccia bread with cultured butter was beyond amazing and satisfying.

Hot bobo chicken and striped bass

I attended the soft opening of fish Shop last week and am looking forward to going back. Here's what we got: House baked bread, smoked trout crumpets, smoked trout with potatoes, Grilled striped bass, and hot bobo chicken. For desserts we finished with the ice cream and tiramisu. To drink we had both variations of martinis as well as two glasses of wine. Standouts were all of the starters and 'for the table items' as well as the martini with yuzu. Also, the desserts! The chocolate ice cream was perfectly balanced by the salt/olive oil, and I am usually not a tiramisu girl but this is a dessert I would go out of my way to get. The restaurant is beautiful and airy and perfectly tucked away at the Wharf. The only issue I had is that there was a mixup with my wine. I ordered the welschriesling and my waiter brought out Riesling instead. As he poured, I thought something was off because it wasn't orange as indicated on the menu, but he insisted it was the right bottle. A quick google search of the bottle proved otherwise but it was too late to change at that point.

Vegetable crudite with bean dip

I'll need to go back and have a full meal to better assess but so far this place seems like a nice addition to the Wharf, and super close to Arena Stage. There was plenty of bar space for happy hour, which goes until 6 with some drink specials and munchies. The crab hush puppies are pretty good. More hush puppy flavor than crab. My friend got the vege crudite with bean dip and liked it. The trout dip is fishy as is to be expected, some of the bread was burned and they charged for extra bread even though the server didn't quite make that clear. Both happy hour drinks were good. I thought the orange house one was better.

We were initially going to go to the karaoke bar next door but when we walked inside, it was wayyyy too loud and obnoxious so we were like perfect let's go across the street! We walk into the ramen spot and ask where the speakeasy is and the guy led us to the back and showed us to some stairs to go down. Seriously, how COOL is this place??? The neon lights were so fun! We walked into the bar and immediately loved it! Good amount of bar seating plus some comfy couches and whatnot. There was music but it wasn't too obnoxious, we were still able to have conversations - it was surprisingly chill and exactly what we were looking for. Chatted to the bartender who made some fancy shots for us, had a few drinks. It was not busy at all on a Sat night which was nice. It is very dark inside even with the neon lights so it does make it hard to read the menus (had to use flashlights on our phone). But super fun spot, fun drinks, not too expensive, and a neat and chill experience! It was an excellent find for us for sure!

Overall, the menu reads like a neighborhood cocktail bar with chef-driven bar food: playful, nostalgic American comfort dishes paired with a serious and historically influenced cocktail program. Trouble Bird was the answer to my prayers on a recent trip, where I was looking to have high quality drinks and a laid-back NON-commercial vibe with my team. We liked it so much, we came twice in one week, and I was impressed at their ability to handle and be comfortable for a large group in a space that can feel intimate. The lighting is nice and moody, the menu available via QR code, and the WiFi free and listed with password for patrons to use. We had excellent service both times, by the two folks working each night for a groups of 6-8 each time. There was something for everyone from the nondrinkers to the beer enthusiasts, to cocktail aficionados like myself. There's an amazing happy hour deal, with discounts on drinks all Monday and reduced prices for a couple of hours on other weekdays; it almost felt criminal how generous the happy hour was when I've gotten used to paying $20 for a mediocre cocktail at other nearby establishments. And the cocktails here are really very good, probably the best in the area, except for their immediate next door neighbor. The group favorite cocktail was the Midori sour which was incredibly well balanced and refreshing, and the surprising crowd pleaser was the Hamilton Dry Float, which came in a creepy tiki mug presentation that we really loved. We had a couple of the bar bites - the spiced peanuts were well loved across the group but my person favorite food item was the blistered shishitos, which came with a great chipotle aioli. The bathrooms are extremely clean and overall this was a bar favorite for the group for our week of going out and socializing together. Overall this is a gem of a neighborhood hangout with really excellent cocktails and service! Will absolutely come here next time I'm in town!
