The Sakura roll is shrimp tempura, avocado, jalapeño with with pink dragonfruit infused rice, topped with fresh salmon, scallions, eel sauce and edible cherry blossom wafers. I also ordered some of the spring rolls. The sushi was okay. The roll was decent in size. The spring rolls were crispy and the chili sauce was perfect. The cherry blossom taiyaki is a really cool concept and a great tasting ice cream. I struggled to eat it, as the warm cone quickly melted the ice cream, so I probably wish the taiyaki wasn't as hot. But it tasted great and another fun cherry blossom item for the season. read more

Who does not love soft serve in a taiyaki cone!? Personally I love fruity pebbles so I love that they have the option to add toppings. I typically get the most boring flavor so I think this was vanilla, but I've also tried their Matcha and their Ube and I highly recommend. You can do a single flavor or a swirl in a cup or a cone. If you're just ordering ice cream, you can use the kiosk and you don't have to wait in line and then you can watch them. You know swirl it up. I always take the ice cream and then go for a walk so I'm not sure if they have seating but since they sell food, I'm sure they do. This place was decent for flavor! The Bang bang shrimp bowl I enjoyed and it was very filling but just alot of rice. Overall, this place has delicious ice cream, but the entree dishes are mid. I came for a visit with my partner and ordered one Miso Salmon Bento Box, one Poke Bowl, and one ice cream. The Poke Bowl had very little fish... It seems like only one small scoop of fish was added, and overall the bowl was not worth the amount we paid for it. The flavor of it was fine though. The Miso Salmon Bento was much more worth the price. The salmon was undercooked, so I asked if it was possible to cook it for a little longer, and the employees were very accommodating and re-heated the same piece of salmon! I really appreciate that they were able to re-heat the salmon rather than just getting a new one and thus producing more food waste. This was a big "plus" to the restaurant in my eyes. The ice cream was very delicious, as was the fish cone it came in! On our visit, the ice cream flavors available were sakura and ube, so we opted for a swirl with both flavors. I highly recommend the fish cone ice cream here! Overall, I would consider returning for the dessert, but I likely will not get another entree dish here in the future. One additional note is that there is no bathroom in the restaurant, but there are some public bathrooms along the Wharf. read more

One of the cheaper spots to eat on the wharf. Order at a kiosk and wait for sushi or a bento box. They make everything right in front of you and have a few tables inside; however, there's tons of outdoor tables and benches on the wharf. I was excited to come here as my friend gave me a good review, but my experience wasn't what I expected. The place has some indoor and patio seating. You order the meal either online or at the kiosk, so it is pretty efficient if you know what you want. You also have many options to customize your order. After you pay, you have to get your drink at the counter by yourself (there were no instructions about it). My drink was cherry blossom and hibiscus rose tea, which was subtly sweet, floral, and nice. However, the service was slow and unfriendly even though we came in when the store just opened. After waiting about 15 min, we finally got our orders, but my customization was completely ignored. I requested to change the sauce, leave the sauce on the side, and add sesame seeds and nori, but everything was forgotten as you can see in my photo. If they cannot accommodate, the options shouldn't been on the digital menu anyway. The excessive amount of dressing on rice (not toppings) made rice soggy and way too salty to eat. The pre-seasoned toppings like ginger and pickled onion were also overly sour. The seasonal bowl with beet-dyed salmon was a creative idea, but the salmon didn't have any firm, good texture anymore. You order with a touch screen (or your phone) and then pick up your items from the counter. Somewhat frustrating experience here. So, you don't speak to any employees here. Any ordering is done via ipad. When I first went in, I went to a counter to see if the worker would address me, but didn't give me eye contact. I didn't see the ice cream on the ipad menu. I wasn't sure if it went by another name (I saw things like cookies). But as I was visiting and given it's location in the wharf (which is very touristy) I think it's silly to not have great signage to understand how to order and have dismissive employees when asked a question. I came here to get some poke and it was pretty good. I got the Fat Fish bowl, which includes three different types of fish, and some veggies and other toppings. We initially were going to go to the donut place next-door, but it is closed. Cutting our losses, we saw that there was cold treats in the fat fish to try. FINALLY, some real poke! After moving to DC, Ive been very hesitant to have poke here (since I was raised on Poke and Poke bowls back in Hawai'i). The flavors were vanilla sky and strawberry guava. The taiyaki was ok, it reminded me of a waffle, like it should. The tail isn't hollowed out, so the ice cream doesn't drip through as much. It's a self serve operation with only about a dozen indoor seating area, so it's mostly for takeouts. Folks behind the counter are friendly, and quietly quickly make your food. A quick break for linner ( lunch/dinner ) at Fat Fish with friends. We got poke bowls, sushi & the Cherry Blossom Bento Box (seasonal I assume). It had a crab meat roll covered in salmon with sakura rice (pink) with tuna poke over seaweed salad with a salad and mini taiyaki red bean fish. It was all very yummy. Logistics: there are 3 kiosks that you order from when you enter. One was out of service while we there. You can view their menu online and I think you can also order online but we did it at the kiosk. I chose to have my receipt printed but nothing came out so I just waited for my name to be called. At about 3pm on a Saturday (during DC's cherry blossom festival), they were busy (naturally so). The 3 staff members were making all the orders as fast as they could and were very nice. It took awhile to get our food but it was fine, we hung out and rested at one of the small tables inside. There was outside seating but it was raining so unfortunately it was all wet. Cute poke spot but taiyaki ice cream did not meet aesthetic expectations. I forgot fat fish was at the wharf but I saw their taiyaki ice cream sign and instantly remembered I've been wanting to go. When walking in, I realized they do poke bowls and sushi too, So got pretty excited to come back since I was on a mission to have a taiyaki for this visit lol. I went up to their contactless order at a screen and checked out what flavors they had avilable for ice cream. Of course, vanilla was there but was great to see they had the fall seasonal flavor of pumpkin which happened to be vegan. Definitely appreciated that and the fact that they can swirl it. When going to extras, you're able to add either a mango or chocolate drizzle, sprinkles, custard fill taiyaki or chocolate wafer. I chose for the chocolate wafer and custard fill taiyaki. I appreciated when ordering the taiyaki, they let you know it will be a 5-min wait. I didn't see an option to have an ice cream filled taiyaki which made me a little disappointed but that's ok, a little one with my ice cream in a cup is still cute aesthetics. After waiting, my ice cream was served but the worker didn't realize I ordered the chocolate wafted and came to find out they didn't have any and said they've been adding a spoon of Nutella. I'll never turn down Nutella so, no problem. They also asked if I wanted some chocolate drizzle after realizing they forgot the wafer. At the end, I just got a messy looking ice cream.
