The poke bowl was very good, the veggies all fresh & crisp & plentiful. unfortunately, the sauce was very meh/ blah... and tasted like very flavor- free mayo with some Sriracha or something thrown in for a tiny bit of heat. I don't know why i didn't like the mayo, because normally I'm a huge mayo/ miracle whip -based sauce fan, and I eat it on a lot of things that most Americans find weird lol. at least the edamame was plentiful and cooked to perfection. my friend reported her California roll was very yummy. However, don't order the miso unless they start making it in house and you can see them brewing with the fresh paste. This $2 miso was definitely one of the most basic cheap dried packets you get at the grocery store. I buy different kinds of those all the time and I used to work in a tea shop with miso so I'm familiar with all the different levels of instant miso and this was wasn't even mid range instant quality. I would've have complained this much if it hadn't been almost room temperature. And lastly, we come to the Atlani Gelato: MEH The presentation is on point... The flavors are relatively standard for gelato, but the selection is plentiful and very good. However, the texture and taste was completely MEH for gelato, especially gelato this expensive. I get much better tiramisu ice cream at Aldi's and Lidl ! Tiramisu is normally bursting with that raw cacao flavor, coffee liqueur, and if you're lucky some chunks of ladyfingers. I don't know what this tasted like. mostly cinnamon ice cream: The texture was a little gritty , it wasn't velvety, smooth, or rich. It tasted like regular ice cream but whipped in a blender. I also got pistachio; that was a little better, as it tasted like pistachio ice cream... But aside from the real cracked pistachios on top , it was a tiny step down from your standard Ben & Jerry's or Talenti. Again, get your gelato across the street from CVS. read more

Wow, I was a bit disappointed by this! The sushi was inexpensive and a good price... And it was nearby and open til 9pm. I got the "chef's sushi" thing, which was a roll with salmon and tuna on top of the roll and surimi inside, with avocado. The wasabi given was kind of lacking. Most of the piece were ok, but they all were a bit weird in texture and actually a bit "chewy"? And that almost made the pieces on top too large. One piece of salmon was unevenly cut. The reason why I had to give a 2 stars is that one of the pieces had a strong fishy taste, which is not normal at all in sushi and I had to spit it out, because I felt that it was not fresh! Khin's sushi is located in Navy yard, in the same eatery as Wiseguys pizza. They offer ramen, poke bowls and sushi. I stopped by here for a quick meal to go. I placed my order with the worker, who rang me up and made my sushi and constructed my bowl right away. There wasn't a line, so I was able to get my food fairly quickly. I do like that the rolls are made and rolled when you order, as opposed to being prerolled. I got the tuna poke bowl, as well as the dragon roll. Both of my food items were fine. Nothing to write home about, but I think it's an okay option if you just happen to be here. Tbh, I think the sushi at Whole Foods tastes better to me. My other gripe is that there wasn't much tuna in my poke bowl. If they fixed the ratios, I may be inclined to order here again. read more

I had high hopes for the seafood mix poke bowl for 11.99 and after taxes around $13. I ate everything bc I didn't want to waste my $13, but alas even HT does a better job down the block. Anyone who lives in Navy Yard knows that that we lack good sushi options on this side of the highway, so when I saw Khin Sushi was opening up in the Wiseguy/Altani space, I knew that I had to try it. They don't currently have the menu hanging so you need to grab one of the menus there. I wasn't craving sushi in particular today, so I decided to go with the tuna poke bowl, and I was not disappointed. For $10, you got a lot of fresh, tasty tuna and toppings on top of well cooked sushi rice. It was not the greatest poke bowl I've ever had, but considering the price it was well worth it. I'm looking forward to coming back over the next few weeks to try to sushi itself, which will hopefully live up to the hype I've seen from other reviewers. read more

Wasn't crazy about this place. I got a salmon roll, salmon roe nigiri, and a salmon poke bowl. On the plus side, the fish and veggies were fresh and the workers seemed friendly. On the downside, the rolls are way too big with too much rice for my liking. The biggest problem was they drowned my poke bowl in spicy Mayo. Much of it was inedible and had to throw it away. So, if you get a poke bowl, be sure to watch them add ingredients or this could happen to you. I may try again if I get a craving for poke, but I would monitor the making of the bowl very closing. read more

The sushi quality is probably worse than gas station sushi. The owner went to Japan to supposedly learn about quality sushi but obviously learned nothing. I live close by so I was really excited to have this near me but I've had it twice now and I'm pretty disappointed. My first visit the fish was very "fishy" and left me feeling a bit off afterwards. The second time, I got the salmon poke bowl and it was incredible small but worst of all, the salmon was extremely chewy as if it's been out for too long or wasn't trimmed of any fat. Ran to Khin's Sushi because it was near a hotel where I'm staying in the Navy Yard. The 6-minute walk there and back was pleasant enough on an early fall day, a straight shot down M street with people heading to a Nationals game at the nearby stadium. We ordered a couple of fresh spring rolls, a rainbow roll, and a salmon poke bowl. All three were fresh, tasty, and ready for me to pick up within the time frame they said. When I ordered online via GrubHub. If you've done this, you know there is a section for special requests on your order. This is always a gamble when not ordering in person. Having seen the other reviews about the heavy hand on the spicy mayo, and us being unable to consume mayo, we noted "No Sauces" on every item that would usually have it. Would they honor my special order? Would they miss it? Did I say it right? Insert the nervous, eye-twitching, mouth-chewing 'That's So Ravyn' meme here. Totally inedible. Moving on to the one roll I ordered. I ordered a Philadelphia roll. I could have made this roll at home it was so poorly done. Misshapen and uneven amounts of fish and cream cheese. I ate 2 pieces and again, it was inedible. I have no idea how anyone could consider this 5 stars. The food is just really poor quality. The spicy tuna was brown and looked like dog food so I didn't even touch it. The "spicy aoli" was just mayonnaise, which did not pair particularly well with the salmon. The dumplings were lukewarm, but at least they were edible - a rare feat for this restaurant. When we're talking raw fish, the quality just has to be higher - you are much better off going to the Harris Teeter or Whole Foods in the Navy Yard if you are looking for quick sushi. Well looks can be deceiving and here they definitely are. First let me say the staff is aware that sometimes it takes extra time to deliver the food and when they did, they made sure to make it right. First I tried the miso soup which is flavorful and fantastic!! Lots of seaweed and tofu in it too. Next was a roll- the Hawaiian to be exact. I thought I should get something that included the max number of sushi types in it. WOW!!!! It was awesome. I loved the flavor, the sushi was fresh and the taste just popped.
