Fried flounder, onion rings and coleslaw
    Apearl C.

Decided to order food from here while visiting the Wharf. When we arrived they were moving really slow. One guy taking and packing orders plus one cook in the kitchen. Waited about 10 minutes with one person in front of me to order. After we ordered another guy came out to assist the order taker. They give you a physical ticket of your order to hold with a number on it they call when your food is ready. We ordered a slice of carrot cake and two platter... fried fish, fries, and mac & cheese plus fried flounder, onion rings, and mac & cheese. When we were called up for our order we were told they were out of mac & cheese. We got hush puppies and coleslaw instead. Everything was delicious! The cake was like 7 layers and the icing was too sweet. Could not eat much of it. It was a waste of money. Unique spot... not your typical restaurant. No seating. With all the construction going on it is a great grab and go option with the 45 minute parking in the connected lot.

    Banana Cake

Located at the Maine Avenue fish market, Evans Brothers Seafood is not to be missed. And how could you? They have a dessert window where they are constantly putting out sample slices of their delicious cakes and pies. I have sampled the vanilla cake with strawberries, chocolate cake, cheesecake and pecan pie cheesecake. The vanilla and chocolate cakes while tasty were a bit dry. The ultimate cake is the banana cake with cream cheese frosting. The layers have slices of banana in between. The cake is huge and for $25, well-priced. The slices they give out are ample enough that you really don't need anything else but it's just so good you gotta take one home. We were cake tasting beasts that day. Delicious!

a tray of fried shrimp and french fries

The fried shrimp was delicious and fresh! The amount for the price was really good too. Im not sure why the other reviews here were bad. Good overall experience! Service was really fast. Recommend mixing the hot sauce with the tartar sauce

Adsolutely delicious deep-fried goodness. Had the seafood combo with oysters shrimp mac n' cheese and hush puppies. Really hit the spot.

And let me tell y'all... it definitely lived up to the hype. This place is an experience all by itself. There are different stations depending on what you're ordering, so at first I was a little confused , but once I figured it out, everything moved pretty smoothly. The staff was patient, answered my questions, and helped me figure out exactly what I wanted. I decided to order three fresh oysters and a half-pound of shrimp with Old Bay seasoning, and I was so excited because I absolutely LOVE seafood. The oysters? 10/10. Fresh, clean, and exactly what I hoped they'd be. Every bite reminded me why I love oysters so much. The shrimp were another highlight. They were a really nice size, perfectly seasoned with Old Bay, and paired perfectly with a little butter and lemon. They were simple, fresh, and packed with flavor. I also got to sit outside with some amazing people while everyone compared what they ordered. We had everything from red snapper and whiting to flounder, fries, sweet potato fries, and macaroni salad on the table. It was fun hearing everyone's opinions while we all rated our meals together. Those are the moments that make food even more enjoyable. If I had one small critique, it would be the fries. They weren't my favorite, but honestly, I came for the seafood, and that's exactly what delivered. My overall rating: 9/10. Fresh seafood, a fun atmosphere, beautiful waterfront views, and great company made this one of my favorite food stops during my trip to Washington, D.C. Thank you, Jessie Taylor Seafood, for an experience I'll definitely remember. I can't wait to come back and try even more of the menu. That's Just How Life Goes... and of course, Just How Food Goes.

This past weekend, I finally returned for dinner with a couple of friends after a show at Arena Stage. The restaurant is still stunning. We sat outside to enjoy the Wharf/water views and the summer weather. The food was still great, too. We shared lots of dishes: a half dozen oysters; tempura fried squash blossoms filled with Maryland crab and cream cheese; an heirloom tomato salad with feta and fried shallots; Massaman curry with fragrant herbs, housemade roti, and the fish of the day; a beautiful halibut dish; and a candied Virginia peanut tiramisu. Everything was tasty, but the entrees really blew my mind - beautiful and delicious. We also each had a glass or two of wine, and they have a great wine list. The service was very friendly, but at some point during our early dinner (our reservation was for 5pm), they got busy and our server disappeared a bit as he got busier. Still, it was a lovely dinner overall - exactly the kind of place you want to be on a warm summer day! If you love seafood and summer vibes, Fish Shop should definitely be on your list.

There weren't too many tables for people to face each other which is also a little bit strange they do have outdoor seating but the view honestly isn't something that I would recommend for outdoor seating even though it's on the wharf Parking in this area is really tough. We got to the patio and we heard one of the waitresses kindly request that couples sit at the smaller tables. One couple ignored her, and I felt bad so we did. But then our dogs were in the way the entire time because the table was against the restaurant and there wasn't a lot of space for the waitstaff to walk by. To make matters worse, the next few groups were couples, and they sat at all the tables that we would have been much more comfortable at with our dogs- there was space to keep them out of the way. I was stressed the whole time. Then, we ordered wine and tapas. The wine was forgotten. In our waitresses defense she seemed very busy and the restaurant understaffed. For tapas we ordered croquetas, pan con tomato, fried artichokes, oysters, and patatas bravas. The croquetas were good but there was only two. The fried artichokes had zero flavor, and no sauce to add flavor. The oysters were good. The patatas bravas were fine, the potatoes were a bit dry. My favorite was the pan con tomato but it was nothing super special, I've had that at other restaurants. I wouldn't recommend heading here.

The truffle mac & cheese was amazing, and the crêpes and French toast were both delicious. The entire buffet was fantastic! The brisket was super juicy and didn't have much fat on it.
