If I could give it zero stars I would. Let's start at the ordering process. I'm okay with the electronic ordering but I had a couple questions and the workers were no help even though it was two people behind the counter. After placing the order, we waited about 20 minutes for food. When we looked at our order, we released we did not have the correct sauces. I went back to the counter to ask for the correct sauces, just for them to say oh we ran out of curry and mango and Sriracha aioli. I asked why didn't they let us know they didn't have the sauce and they replied back by saying, "We're running out of everything. I gave the mustard so you could have a sauce. If you do not have something, I would expect for a sign or for someone to inform the customers of a shortage. The food was bland with no flavor at all. The jalapeno chorizo fries were good until I ate the chorizo. I have never had bad chorizo until yesterday. We basically threw our food away after we spent $60 because it was so horrible accompanied with horrible service and the sauce did not help with the lack of flavor. read more

**To the Manager or District Manager:** While on vacation, out of all the restaurants at The Wharf, we chose Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips based largely on the name and reputation. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered two fish-and-shrimp meals at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11. As time passed, we noticed a family who had ordered around the same time as us was already finishing their meal while we were still waiting. After **30 minutes**, I approached the counter to ask about our order. The cooks apologized and told me it would be ready in about three minutes. I waited another **10 minutes** and approached the counter again. At that point, two employees looked at each other and began debating whether our order had ever been made or whether someone else had picked it up. We were sitting nearby the entire time and absolutely would have heard our number if it had been called. About five minutes later, our food was finally handed to us--**roughly 45 minutes after we ordered**. It appeared to have been quickly and somewhat messily put together. We were also trying to catch a bus, so after waiting that long, we barely had time to sit down and enjoy the meal. What was most frustrating was that no one made any meaningful effort to correct the situation. There was no offer of a refund, discount, replacement item, or even a small gesture of goodwill--just essentially, "Oops, sorry, our mistake." Unfortunately, the restroom situation was just as concerning. Shortly after ordering, I used one restroom and found that there were **no paper towels**. I immediately informed an employee. Approximately 45 minutes later, I went into the other restroom and found **no toilet paper and no paper towels**. Both restrooms lacking basic supplies is unacceptable for any restaurant, especially one carrying the Gordon Ramsay name. The restroom doors were also sticking so badly that I initially thought they were locked. I waited outside for several minutes until an employee came by and forcefully pulled one open. Unfortunately, that happened to be the restroom without toilet paper. I was on vacation with my son and did not want to let the experience ruin our afternoon, so I chose not to make a bigger issue of it at the time. However, this location clearly needs better oversight. The restaurant was not particularly busy, yet our order was apparently lost, the restrooms were poorly maintained and inadequately stocked, and there seemed to be very little urgency or accountability from the staff. For a restaurant associated with such a well-known name, I expected much better. We love their biscoff milkshake (I'd come back just for milkshake tbh) but it was sold out at the time so we settled for the chocolate milkshake. This has been on my go-to list for a very long time. I finally made it this past weekend on a lovely 60 degree day in Washington DC. The location on the Wharf has always made it difficult due to parking. The nearby Wharf garages start at $11 per hour. You really can't spend a couple of hours there without the exorbitant parking fees. But if you do come down to the DC Wharf, do try the Fish & Chips. I do not normally get fish & chips on any menu because of the grease but I had to try Gordon Ramsay's. I was not disappointed. I got the Gordon Combo which had one piece of fish, one piece of chicken, and three shrimp. The fish and shrimp were delicious. The chicken was juicy. The fries were crisp. Everything was well done. I thought coming after the lunch hour close to 2PM, it would not be that busy. Not so. It took almost 30 minutes to stand in line to place my order on two self-order kiosks (one human person was also taking orders if you technology adverse) and then move to the pick up section to wait for your number to be called. The place was definitely busy and full of tourists. Once I got my order, I headed outside to enjoy my meal. There are plenty of benches if a table is not available. I highly recommend eating outside on a nice day. So much people watching and fresh air next to the water. read more

We decided to give this place a try after hearing good things about it. We were here on a Saturday around 4 p.m., and the place wasn't busy. All ordering is done on touch screens, which can sometimes be frustrating. You almost need a PhD in computer science to operate the ordering system. When an employee saw us and another customer puzzling over the screens, she came out and assisted us all. We told her it was our first time here and thanked her for her help. We both ordered the fish and chips. Cod is the fish they use, and it worked very well. We also ordered regular "chips" (just salted). They offer up items like "dirty chips" that cost extra. The order also comes with a choice of two sauces. We both chose dijon mayonnaise and cocktail sauce. To drink, we each had a bottle of water. The employee handed us our water right after we paid for the food. Our receipt had an order number, so we waited for our number to be called, which didn't take long. As for the food, we both liked the fish. The coating was crunchy, and the cod was flaky and moist. This dinner box also comes with a lemon wedge to squeeze over the fish (which we both did). The "chips" arrived piping hot, which we appreciated. As for the dipping sauces: to me, the dijon mayonnaise was very mildly flavored with the dijon. My husband said he barely tasted it. (He likes fries with mayonnaise anyway. ) The cocktail sauce had a bit of kick. I rarely use cocktail sauce, but my husband, who uses it more than I do, said he thought it could have been better: it arrived as a partially solid ketchup-like mass in the cup. Perhaps, they could have added some other ingredients. I wasn't impressed by the tables and chairs. The tables were spacious, but the chairs were too low. As a short person, I found myself sitting too low to the ground, like a kid at the adults' table. (The place has two unisex bathrooms. One of them needs to have its commode seat replaced) Otherwise, we liked the food and thought the portion size was just right -- neither too much nor too little. We would consider going there again. I must have caught them on a bad day. I've been wanting to try this place since they opened. I came on a Thursday night before meeting friends in the area. The place was clean, and ordering at the kiosks is fairly simple. I tried the Gordon's combo, which consisted of 1 piece of fish, 1 chicken, 3 shrimp and fries. My order took less than 5 minutes to get, and unfortunately I was a little disappointed. For $20+, you get more fries than anything. The chicken had no flavor and was smaller than the size of my palm. The fish was also tiny compared to other pics and reviews I saw, and the breading was sliding off first bite. The shrimp were perfect in size and taste. I should've taken a picture of the cocktail sauce. Im assuming it was previously frozen because the texture was way more of a paste than a dip. I'm a huuuge fan of fish and chips, and this one just wasn't worth the money. If I ever came back, I'd probably stick to the shrimp. Never again on the chicken though. I'm a big Ramsay fan and have had his version of fish and chips at other restaurants, so I figured I would give this a go at this location. The Wharf has so many options for a meal if you are willing to sit down and have an experience. However, I wanted to be able to go in, place an order, and eat at my leisure in my solitude. This place afforded me that and I was never happier. Being one of four locations in the States I walked in and right up to the ordering kiosk. I wanted to go old school here, so I bypassed the combo dishes that included chicken and/or shrimp. I wanted just the Fish Combo which comes with three pieces of cod and chips. Two dipping sauces of my choice as well. For me it was Gordon's Tartar and the Dijon Mayonnaise. I also upgraded my chips to Dirty Chips #3 (bacon cheddar, green onions, sour cream). Added a drink, paid, given my receipt by the machine. Before I could go back and find a seat a staff member was already there to provide me with my drink. I went with sweet tea and after I was handed it I was told there were free refills. I like this space. It's big and feels intimate, but at the same time you can find a spot where you are by yourself. I did just that. I went towards the back, past the restrooms, and found myself a nice two top with a nice view of the street. Allowing me to people watch and take in the scenery. Before long my number was called and I went to fetch my food. The portion size, a bit small to me. Definitely not what I paid at other establishments that serve Gordon's recipe for this very dish. But the taste was out of this world. The cod was a bit bigger than a traditional fish stick size. Perfectly battered, giving you that crunch you would expect to hear. The chips, I should have gotten them plain with just sea salt. The toppings were nearly lacking and didn't do the chips justice. They serve it with a sliver of lemon and piece of curly parsley for decoration. It came with 2 sauces, however I didn't want the red sauce and wanted to try a different sauce. I wasn't able to quickly switch it out and they wanted me to pay .80 cents for a different one. I thought that was a bit frustrating. It was very busy, however they were able to manage the flow. I think some people confuse the cultural backgrounds on what British fish and chips are and how they are prepared. Despite the waiting for over 1 hour and 30 minutes ( there was an event in the common area and tons of people) for a box of fish and chips, I had to try a piece dipped into Gordon's Tartar Sauce. I stopped myself and reflected. This was the best battered fish I have ever had. It was clean, dense, flakey and fresh. The oil was fresh. None of the food was salty. This is why buying here pays off despite it being $19.99 and paying either parking or metro to get to the Wharf. I loved it. There is zero doubt this is how food should taste and they get it right. I had to get to the chef line when a bunch of people kept crowding the Pick Up counter. The one tall young chef took my receipt and put my order together on the spot. THANK YOU. One significant suggestion is to have them USE THE MICROPHONE to call out order numbers. They kept having someone soft spoken or blurred english call them out when loud music is playing outside, Beatles music playing indoors and chatty people crowding the order and pick up areas. Amazing fish and chips! Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips was on my list of restaurants to try for nearly 3 years. I'm glad we finally had an opportunity to visit during a recent trip to DC because the food was so worth it. I ordered the fish, shrimp and chip combo and the husband ordered the combo of lobster, shrimp and chips. We were very satisfied with our selections. My shrimp was big, plump and juicy. The fish was fork tender with breading that is nice and flaky. You have 6 options for sauces. For my dish I ordered the tartar and cocktail sauces which complemented nicely with my fish and shrimp. Ben gave his lobster and shrimp combo a thumbs up and ultimately devoured his meal. Between the both of us we had no leftovers since it was that good! My only gripe was I wished they offered more seafood. The ratio of chips to seafood was high and they could've used less chips in their combo meals or keep the amount of chips but add more seafood to the combo baskets. Pricing is rather steep as we each paid roughly $30-45 per person which includes the cost of either an alcoholic beverage or shake. Do not skip on the Biscoff shake! Personally I think it is the best shake flavor... Ever!!! We went on a day where it was sunny in the mid 50's. It was a bit breezy but this is one of the few chains that offer outdoor patio seating. We opted to eat al fresco on the patio and it was lovely. Supposedly garage parking is available, but we managed to snag street parking on Maine Ave SW on a weekend. Gordon if you are reading this... I really wanted to love this place. The location is perfect, right in the heart of all the action and on the water front and the concept had my family and I excited. But unfortunately, the customer service left a really bad taste. We showed up with a line literally out the door, which is usually a good sign. But shockingly, while the line kept growing, the cashier completely shut down taking orders, just stopped. People were confused, frustrated, and some walked out after waiting for nothing (including my family). It's one thing to be busy, but it's another to just abandon your customers. For a restaurant carrying Gordon Ramsay's name, I expected way better. The food might be decent (I wouldn't know -- I never got to try it), but the way they handled the situation was unacceptable. Great location, but unless they seriously improve the service, we won't be back. read more

I'm a sucker for fish and chips, so I had to try this spot. Despite it being in a busy place on the wharf, people quickly eat and vacate tables for you to sit fairly easily. Tried a combo of shrimp & lobster and I did enjoy it. My husband opted for the traditional fish and chips and liked it as well. I'd definitely eat here again. read more
