Oyster happy hour
Carla R.

Dropped by Hell's Kitchen at the Wharf for a quick Oyster happy hour that the restaurant offers from 3pm - 7pm during the weekday. Not many people were at the downstairs bar when I visited, but service was a little slow. I actually had to ask the bartender for water although I was sitting right near where he was making drinks. The Oysters were delicious, but I (initially) I only received five instead of the six that are advertised for happy hour. The waiter and bartender acknowledged their error by giving me a fresh batch of six oysters total in addition to the five which was very generous. Hell's Kitchen is a beautiful open seating restaurant with ample tables for dine in meals. I may visit again if there's someone who is visiting from out of town who wants to dine in at a restaurant on the Wharf.

Have to say this was one delicious and well prepared burger

Finally got to use a gift certificate that we received over a year ago. We was visiting the Wharf in DC. The Restaurant is at a perfect location with nice views from the second floor dining room. Nice Lobby, with friendly Hostess and waiting area. We did not have a reservation, but still was seated quickly. Larry was our Waiter and he was awesome, in fact all the Staff was amazing. We all went with a Burger, the Burger was in my Top 3 of all time. Nicely cooked, with the right toppings, served on the perfect bun. The Fries were hot & delicious. We definitely enjoyed our whole experience and recommend it when visiting the Wharf.

My husband mentioned wanting try Gordon Ramsay's restaurant, so I surprised him with lunch here while in town. We came for lunch so it wasn't super busy. We had a reservation and was quickly seated once we arrived. The decor and ambiance was great!! I haven't seen the but our server told us the chefs area is similar to the show. We had a table by the window with a view of the water so that was great. We got the chicken wings for appetizer. I was pleasantly surprised how good they were. I saw reviews that said they were too soft. I think they were cooked perfectly. The edges had a crunch but the entire wings weren't hard. I love blue cheese so I was glad that came with the wings. My husband ordered a smoked old fashion and I tried a new seasonal cocktail, it was ok but I should've gotten an old fashion with my husband. He really enjoyed his drink and the presentation was superb!! The service was amazing. Our waiter Larry brought us out hot towels to clean our hands after the wings. For entrees he got the lobster roll and I got the Hell's Kitchen burger because I love spicy foods. The burger was great!! One of the best I've ever had. It wasn't too spicy, the spicy aioli that came with it was probably the spiciest thing about the burger. I had also ordered a ceasar salad but they forgot to bring it. I didn't mind because the burger was huge!! I could barely finish it. The fries were super yummy too. They were cooked perfectly, crispy with the right amount of salt. My husband enjoyed his lobster roll too. This is definitely a great date night spot!!!

Went with a visiting friend to Hell's Kitchen at the wharf. I had no idea what to expect, given the mixture of views, especially regarding the price to quality ratio, but had an overall positive experience. We went to dinner on a Wednesday night, and the restaurant was not packed by any means, but there were certainly other tables there. Our server was very attentive and was a highlight of the meal. She, came by frequently, asked a questions, and gave us some background on the restaurant and it's connection to the TV show that it's named after. Show and the name sake don't really loom large over the me, which is probably a good thing. We started with the harvest salad to share, which had a very tasty dressing, but was not particularly remarkable. I ordered the beef Wellington just because it is one of Ramsay's signature dishes, and was very impressed. Although it looks small in photos, it is certainly sufficient to feed one person or even be split with someone else. Other people at the table got the short rib and the tofu, fried rice, both of which looked good. we also split sides of the mac & cheese and potato gratin, the mac & cheese, being the excellent addition to the meal. The food was well prepared, but owing to the location on the wharf and the associations this has with a famous chef, the price was definitely inflated and not worth hundreds of dollar spent. This is something we expected, but was perhaps hoping to be more wowed by the food given the price. It was still a positive experience, but I do not anticipate going back anytime soon.

Came for the restaurant week lunch special, and was very glad I gave this place a try. For $35, I got a 3 course meal that was very good. I started with a Caesar salad, and then had the burger with fries, and finished it off with a pudding. I left feeling very full. One cool thing I found was how there is a digital screen near the entrance with a video of Gordon popping out to take a selfie the guests entering the restaurant. That was pretty neat! In looking at my bill after I left, I wasn't charged the Restaurant Week deal price, but instead the regular express lunch price. It's only a difference of $4, but I still feel a little gypped. Docking a star for that mistake. Also, what's crazy is how the 20% service fee is not considered a tip!

Honestly I'm underwhelmed and disappointed. The food could have been hotter and seasoned better. The Mac and cheese was ok. It tasted very plain but I did like the taste. The shape held a lot of sauce which was very nice The au gratin was underwhelming. There was a note that kind of tasted like air frier plastic. The risotto and sauce were good. The lobster was too chewy. It might have been fresh because it tasted kind of ocean-y The steak texture and taste was a strong miss. I can't explain what was wrong about it but I did not enjoy it. The sauce and onion were ok. The beef Wellington was ok. The breading was a good depth. I still wasn't crazy about it. The potato's were plain. The best thing from the menu is the tofu rice. That was exceptional. The ginger note was fantastic! The lychee cooler was also nice but I wish there was actual lychee in the drink The apple butterscotch was pretty good but I didn't love the salt The toffee was spectacular The trifle was extremely underwhelming it didn't taste like much Chocolate sin cake was delicious I would honestly probably not come back here.

Went here for my anniversary. Ordered the: - beef wellington - bone in ribeye steak - lobster mac and cheese - potato puree - strawberry lemonade - sticky toffee pudding The strawberry lemonade was made from the bar. It was super sour and didn't have much strawberry flavor to it 4/10. The beef wellington was good but underwhelming. As others said, the pastry dough can get soggy but the potato puree that it came with complimented it well 7.5/10. The bone-in ribeye was mediocre at best. DC has many good steak places, this place needs to take notes 7/10. The sides were probably the best thing they had. The potato puree was smooth and buttery 8/10. The lobster mac and cheese was nice and cheesy. Had good flavor to it, you could really taste the gouda 8/10. Lastly, the sticky toffee pudding was very tasty. The toffee pudding was not overly sweet and it paired nicely with the caramel and icecream 8/10. However the portion sizes are ridiculous for the price. Overall, slightly disappointed in my experience. I expected a lot better from a Gordon Ramsey restaurant. Keep in mind of the small portions for the prices. While I understand this is an upscale restaurant, if you are charging high prices, you should have high quality food. If you are looking for nice views by the wharf, there are plenty of other options nearby.

Very cool restaurant that is right on the Potemic. The Risoto was the best thing that I got. The Beef Wellington was good but I would rather just get the Filet Mingon. There was a 20% service charge(not a tip), which seemed like a lot. Slightly overpriced in my opinion when you add on the 20% service charge plus a tip.

Had a nice experience dining at Hell's Kitchen. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere felt inviting. The lounge bar is cozy, and with plenty of seating throughout the restaurant, it's a great spot to unwind over drinks or enjoy a meal with friends. We started with the Wagyu beef meatballs, which were incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The cheese was so soft it practically melted around the fork, and the pumpkin soup had a lovely sweetness with a satisfying crunch, really well done. The braised beef was fall-apart tender, and the potato cake was my favorite, crispy and absolutely delicious. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, and the lobster tail, though a bit smaller than expected, was a nice addition to the meal. Service was exceptional. Jordon was attentive and offered great entrée recommendations, while Ada stood out ..hardworking, kind, and with a warm smile that truly makes you feel welcome. Overall, an excellent meal and experience. Highly recommend. Just note that it's on the pricier side, and the service fee doesn't include the tip, so plan accordingly.

I have been wanting to try Gordon's restaurant since it opened, as I am a great fan of his. I was so delighted to find friends that wanted to go as well!! We had a terrfic experience at Gordon Ramsay's Hell Kitchen located at the Wharf. Parking is always a challenge, Hilton parking right on site was $50 and very limited. There is also street- metered parking. Metro access (Waterfront - Green line (5- minute walk) or L'Enfant- Orange line (11-15 minute walk)) is nearby and most economical. Placing a reservation is automated and easy to manage through texting. I love the confirmation and reminders. This fabulous function saves time and money for the restaurant so the staff can be free to focus on their on-site duties. I am sure there is a way to speak to a live host, if necessary. They offered the lunch special menu or main menu, of which I selected, as to savor the actual experience of this restaurant's classic and notable menu items. When entering, there is a bar downstairs which is nice to stop for a drink or while waiting to be seated. They also stock Gordon's cookbooks, of which I saw 2 that I did not have in my collection of Gordon cookbooks, I bought one and cannot wait to use it. BTW, his cookbooks are also terrific for the home chef. Easy- to -follow directions, strikingly colorful pictures, and tasty recipes with ingredients that you can find locally. Upstairs is the dining room that is accessible by the elevators located behind the staircase. There are restrooms along the right wall. The restrooms are particularly dark and difficult to see if the stalls are occupied. There are purse hooks on the back of the stall doors. There should be a small shelf for phones/keys, my suggestion. There is a Red and Blue section. We were seated in the blue section near the water. There is also outdoor balcony seating with umbrella'd tables with a view of the marina which would be amazing during the warmer seasons. The food. The food was exactly what I envisioned and would expect to taste. Visually appealing, cooked perfectly, tasted flavorful in the perfect quantity. All menu items were DIVINE. When you dine out, this entire experience is what you would expect since that is a true experience of restaurant dining. From service, timing, and quality of food, you certainly get what you pay for. This is proper dining. My friends ordered me the Beef Wellington and I absolutely loved it. We all did. The medium-rare beef wellington rested beside its gravy and a pool of delicious mashed potatoes, carrots and small potatoes with light garnesh. The plate temperature was perfect. Makes me crave that dish as I write this... I also admired my friend's Pumpkin Soup so I ordered one and it was delicious and visually enjoyable to watch it being poured at the table. While dining, I enjoyed a Smoke on the Water ( reminds me of the Deep Purple's rock song) cocktail and they brought it in a box for you to grab with the cocktail surrounded in smoke. So exciting and delicious!! For dessert, 2 of us ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was my first time having this well-loved British dessert and I also absolutely loved it. I enjoyed it with my delicious coffee. Everything at this restaurant is exactly how that particular menu item should be presented and tasted which is why I wanted to try these popular classic meals. Now I know what to expect when having it elsewhere or, perhaps, making it at home. There was a moment that the staff gathered around the chef counter and rallied during the dinner segment. As if to re- enact the Hell's Kitchen series and give us an up- front experience complete with the "Yes Chef!" and " F" bombs... LOVED IT!! I love seeing people love and enjoy what they do and providing me a fantastic experience. I highly suggest trying this restaurant out. It makes for a delicious meals where my appetite was fulfilled and my stomach did NOT hurt when I was home later that evening. The food is fresh and not over- seasoned. The staff work hard to provide the ultimate Gordon Ramsay restaurant experience. I cannot wait to return. Keep in mind! You are paying for the experience, food and location, location, location. Treat yourself! BONUS- if you want to try the most authentic British Fish (cod) and chips that are fresh, meaty, not overly salty, clean delicious and "fried- food that will not hurt your stomach" experience, Gordon Ramsay's Fish and Chips are directly across the courtyard from this restaurant. It is addicting. +++ food, presentation, temperature, & quantity +++ service, timing, and attentiveness ( not overbearing) ++ the view of the marina and lively couryard at the entrance - parking was a challenge and pricey

We had wanted to go to this restaurant for the longest time. Recently, a friend suggested we get together for a meal. It turned out that our friend had also wanted to eat here. We had a late-afternoon reservation and arrived shortly before lunch service ended. Since our friend was running a bit late, she told us to go ahead and order for her. We chose to order the petite beef wellington for all of us. I decided to have the prefixe lunch menu, which also included a first course choice of either pumpkin soup or Caesar salad. I chose the soup. For dessert, I chose the sticky toffee pudding. My husband just ordered the petite beef wellington. We all enjoyed our "wellies" (as Gordon refers to them). The petite portion was just the right size (6 ozs.) I enjoyed the pumpkin soup. The server brings the bowl, which contains some dry veggies and spices. Then the pumpkin broth gets poured over the dry items. You can hear them crackle during the pour. The sticky toffee pudding was good, but I've had better in terms of flavor. In terms of ambiance, it's like being the audience for an episode of Hell's Kitchen. Our server told us that the kitchen staff even has a red team and a blue team. We heard (what we believe to be the head chef) gather the staff and bark out instructions to which the chefs answered in unison, "Yes, Chef!". We also heard orders being called out to the chefs, who then say, "Heard, chef!". The decor includes chandeliers that have small pitchforks on them In the end, we were glad we got together with our friend and tried this restaurant. On the way out, we noticed that all of Gordon's cookbooks are available for sale.

We retuned again for restaurant week! We each ordered from the RW menu. You could choose from pumpkin soup or Caesar salad. We both had the Caesar salad which was a large portion, fresh and not overly dressed. I really enjoyed the baked Parmesan chips on the salad. I had the petite beef Wellington, which was amazing, and my mother had the idiot sandwich (bbq brisket). It wasn't really her cup of tea but if you like BBQ and brisket you will like it. The French fries were sooo good. The sticky toffee pudding continues to be out of this world - warm and buttery topped with vanilla ice cream.

If you are a fan of the show, how can you not stop in and check it out. The location at the Wharf is stunning. The decor is definitely upscale. I stopped in for a drink and a meal. I ordered the infamous lobster risotto. Risotto was OK. It seemed a little under cooked the lobster over cooked. The bar service was great and the drinks were fantastic. I will definitely still try the restaurant again.

How much does it cost to reserve a table? Open table only explains the fee for cancellations or changes and does not indicate how much an initial reservation is.

I called to make a reservation for 12 and they did not charge!

Is there a kids menu available for dinner? I checked the website and couldn't find one. If not, do…

No kids menu, dinner menu is rather limited. They may accommodate you, I'd call in advance to check.

Do they accept contactless payments like Apple pay?

I do not know, since we paid via regular credit card. I am sorry for not knowing, but perhaps a call or an email to them would get you that info. Good luck!

How do I get in touch with the restaurant? I have spent hours on hold this week. They don't pick up their phone!

If you can't reach them via phone (I've been there twice, they stay busy in there) then use the contact form on their website to send an inquiry.

Is there a dress code?

I don't think so but it's quite upscale. Business casual or better is your best option.

How is the parking?

There are various pay to park garages near but the closest are Wharf Parking Garage 2 - Parker row and Wharf Parking Garage 2- Riley Street.

Does anyone know if carry out is an option, especially for desserts?

It's quite a massive operation- doesn't seem like anything is not an option! My guess would be no problem.

In a party of 2 for dinner, can 1 person do the Pre-Fix Dinner menu or do both people in the party have to do it?

Yes. One person can do prix fixe while the other chooses a la carte.

How are they with allergies?

They are very good. I have a severe shellfish allergy. They informed me that they use different fryers. The manager also came out to discuss with me which made me feel comfortable. Just make sure you mention your allergy at the beginning to the… Read more

If I made a 2:45pm lunch reservation will my party have to leave strictly at 3:30 for the closing between lunch and dinner, or can we stay a bit for drinks and dessert?

No, they don't kick you out. We actually arrived early at 2:45 for our 3:30 reservation. They seated us and others after us and gave us lunch menu. They were doing change over without asking anyone to leave.

What kind of white wine do they serve here?

They have an extensive wine list, you should be able to find any varietal you are looking for - at a price.

Are the side portions for sharing or individual servings?

Depends on the side and how much you eat! More than likely you’ll be happy sharing though!

Is corkage available? Charge?

Hi Bob, corkage is only available during private events. You can learn more and inquire about private dining here: https://www.gordonramsayrestaurants.com/en/us/hells-kitchen/private-dining-washington-dc.

Wanted to check on my reservation for this coming up Friday to confirm, is anyone able to do that for me?

Send an email. They respond with that way of communicating.

Are reservations a must? I wanted to take my daughter for her 21st Birthday on 3/25 and the system is telling me there is more than a 39 day wait.…

You can eat and have drinks in the bar area. The full menu is available. Make sure to let them know it's her birthday when you arrive. Happy birthday and enjoy!

Hello! We recently got an 11:00am reservation and wanted to check, is the lunch menu the same with the dinner menu?

Hi Herlyn! We will be sharing our Lunch Menu soon, keep an eye on our website!

Why does it say it's open 5 to 10 but they let u make reservatio s for like 130?

Hi Irene, we will be opening for lunch soon so we have opened limited reservations! We will update our hours once we have officially opened for lunch, we apologize for the confusion!

Is there valet parking available?

Yes.

I see there is a bar area, is that available for walk-ins? Or do you already need a reservation?

Yep you can grab a seat at the bar without a reservation

Do they offer a carry out option?

Don't believe so. And they're booked through May. Best of luck!
