I was in DC for the weekend August 2026 and decided to spend some time at the Wharf district. After a short walk from our hotel, we had an appetite for breakfast. After walking around, we settled on Bistro Du Jour. Our party of 4 was quickly seated in their outdoor area, which was quite nice and comfortable. I ordered the Paris-Brest Au Saumon Fumé, a warm sandwich with smoked salmon, sliced hard-boiled egg, and horseradish cream cheese topped with salmon caviar. Wow, what a flavor bomb this sandwich was! My wife ordered the overnight oats with fresh fruit and a side of turkey sausage. Her oatmeal was flavorful and quite filling, while the turkey sausage was warm, juicy and flavorful! Our waitress was quite attentive and quick to refill our beverages. This place is quite the gem and located in the thick of things at the Wharf. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!
Stopped by for lunch with a friend. They have indoor seating and service is attentive. It was a nice day and the restaurant itself was an indoor-outdoor type of atmosphere. Ordered a cappuccino and mussels which was great, and well portioned. The bill comes with a QR code and was convenient for splitting.
It was just a very friendly atmosphere. I came here with my wife and kids. We were greeted and seated immediately. For all the choices in the Waterfront, it seemed extremely reasonable. I got the Plat Americain, fruit for my kids, Moule Frites and mimosas. The fruit was like a mix of pineapple, blue berries and strawberries. Great portions for a side. It is probably the most reasonable space for brunch out of all the concepts there on the waterfront. They offered all items except the dinner menu of course, so it was not limited. Probably better for food more than drinks, but could be wrong. You won't e disappointed.
We had a delightful dinner at the Parisian bistro, Bistro Du Jour. It's charmingly decorated with booths, tile floor, and a gorgeous panel trumeau mirror. It's smallish inside, with a wraparound porch for dining outside. All the traditional classics are here. We started with Gougères, warm and soft Gruyère puffs. I sipped a Colette's punch with rhubarb and cassis, brightly and vividly fruity. I chose the Moules Frites, which was abundant with mussels and a generous bowl of fries. I filled three bowls with shells. Very tasty. My counterpart enjoyed the Steak Frites, with Maître D'Hotel Butter, watercress salad and of course, fries. We finished our meal with the transcendent crème brûlée. We had a very enjoyable meal in the laid back and relatively quiet bistro (save for the loud and oversharing couple next to us--TMI).
Adorable interior and comfortable exterior w a solid view. Tuna tartare was some of the best I've had. Perfectly fresh, tangy, a little earthy. Could have eaten 5 more plates. Garlic bread was delicious. They were out of the fluke which was really disappointing. As was the coq au vin. Not a lot of flavor. Pretty bland. The mashed potatoes were lackluster. Service was a mix of inattentive and overbearing at all the wrong moments. The nail in the coffin though? ONE single occupancy restroom. For the entire restaurant. When i'd asked our server whether there was another restroom somewhere, she suggested I use the public restroom somewhere outside.... after a $96 tab, I should go use a public restroom? Yikes!
Ouuu I loved this place! Not sure what I expected but the food was great. I've been here twice now, once for brunch and then happy hour. I ordered the Plait Americain and I enjoyed that for brunch. Happy hour took me by surprise got a nice burger for like $14 and then French 75 for $8, let me tell you those were the strongest French 75 I've ever had. It had me knocked out for 6 hours straight! I think service could be better, waitress could have been more attentive during brunch time. Ambiance was cool but please why does a restaurant only have one bathroom??? So we had to wait in line to use the bathroom on busy days yeah that was annoying but overall good stuff
Stopped by this cute place before a show at the Anthem. We were seated right away and the staff was super friendly. To start we had the bread which was good on its own but we saved some for our dinner because dipping it in the food/sauce was a bit better. The macaron was interesting- not my taste but not bad. I can see how some people would enjoy it. The mains were great! We had the chicken and salmon. The salmon was definitely my favorite. The veggies that accompanied it were also delicious.
The escargot is buttery and creamy but I do wish for aesthetic reasons it came in the shell. With that said, from a practicality standpoint, it's much easier to eat the snails in this form. I also ordered the creme brulee, which did the job and I had no complaints about. The service was good and consistent in my experience and the atmosphere, with outdoor seating options right at the center of The Wharf, makes Bistro Du Jour a solid destination in D.C.
The kid and I are visiting the Knead hospitality friends again! Been living near here for years and finally getting to it. Fantastic food, and service is amazing! The GM is Jose and he is the best! Very good with the guests! The appearance is beautiful. Authentic French styling. Highly recommended! Prepare for the wharf parking issues if you're visiting from somewhere else.
I'll be back! I was looking for something light because I'm 10 pounds heavier than January. So I walked into this French bakery and thought, I'll order something light, but French food is buttery and savory but no worries, the portions were small but each bite is as bam! The service was great. They seated me quickly and offered great conversation. I much appreciated it since I rolled solo. Good amazing! I ordered the beef borgounion and ordered their French 75 cocktail. It also sits on the warf so lots of people and boat watching from my table. I'll be back!
The food and the service was absolutely amazing! I ate outside and it was beautiful. I highly recommend the trout dish - hands down the best trout dish I have ever had!
It was a busy night at The Wharf, but we were lucky to get a last minute reservation. I always appreciate a good mocktail menu, and the 007 was quite tasty. We both got the French onion soup and it was pretty good, although slightly overdone. The quiche was also good, but it was a little dry.
So good! Pro-tip: they are known for their French Onion Soup. Very comforting. Delish flavor. We happened upon this restaurant mid-week on a cold DC evening. We were able to eat outside, which was enclosed with heaters, and we were very cozy. We hit the tail end of happy hour, and grabbed a few appetizers. The star was the soup! Our server recommended it and it did not disappoint. We shared the Beef Bourginon. It had a rich, hearty flavor and was served on a bed of mashed potatoes. A great choice to have on a cold evening. Our daughter got the salmon and it was cooked to perfection, very juicy. Our grandson's choice stole the show for entrees, we were jealous of his Croque Madam. Wow! We grabbed a bite and savored it. I would come back for it. We were hoping to come back and try breakfast, it looked like it had a ton of delicious options, pastries and coffee. Next time!

We had a lovely meal here ahead of a concert at The Anthem. Great location at the Wharf. There's the main dining area and then a little sunroom area with outdoor-style dining without actually being outside. It's very charming. We were able to get a table easily, despite not having a reservation. Our server was great. Friendly, check on us often, and was able to make good suggestions. Naturally, I had to get the mussels. And they definitely hit the spot! Great place for a nice little date night. Will be back. read more
Met up with a group a colleagues while in town for a late lunch here at their recommendation. Beautiful location on the wharf, not from the airport (my next destination). The space is an enclosed patio and was fantastic. The French menu had so many amazing options it was hard to choose but the waiter was helpful in narrowing the choices and managing everyone's adjustments :) I had Salade Lyonnaise and the bacon on it was perfection, nicely sized so you got hearty bites. The red wine vinaigrette dressing was tangy but not overpowering and the poached egg was subtle. So glad we got to try this place before heading home to Oregon! read more
I wanted to love this place so much. I live next-door to it, so I've been looking forward to trying it. My sons treated me for Mother's Day. From the moment we arrived, the vibe was off. There was no excitement, positivity or welcoming words. No one in the restaurant said happy Mother's Day or even Hello - they looked exhausted and like they were just trying to get through the evening. Perhaps they were overwhelmed and understaffed, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The good: - clean seating area - quick check-in - espresso martinis and the French 75 were good cocktails - the vegan entree was good - the mashed potatoes were good The bad: - seated for three people at a table with two of the seats not fitting, one diner had to endure the meal with half of their back against a protruding wall and on a bench seam. - appetizer tray showed up missing one of the four appetizers, when we asked about it, they commented that they were out of it. They brought us some more cheese puffs. We would not have ordered that had we known. - we had to summon the waiter to take our entrée order well after the appetizers had been completely cleared - we had to share Waters when we could not get refills after trying a couple times - atmosphere was bland, didn't seem like effort went into the decor or the experience The ugly: - their signature dish was ordered medium rare: it could not be cut with the table knife and there was no steak knife because it's supposed to be a melt in your mouth dish. It was well done and had to be returned. From our seats, we could watch them inspecting it and talking while one of them rolls their eyes. They bring out another one that was cooked to order. - when we got the bill, they charged for both steaks which was an $82 charge. - again, we have to find somebody to help us with the check. There were no apologies and no offer for compensation for the appetizer, the service, the food, the overcharging, anything. It was really sad because that was to be a very special meal for me and it would be easy to at least try to make things right. :( Please know there are other things I am not including in this review because we are a family that has all worked in the service industry. I hate giving a negative review, but no way around this one. And, yes... my son left a substantial tip. We aren't jerks. :) read more

Stopped by for happy hour with a friend and it did not disappoint! The Burger Américain was juicy and well cooked. I don't drink alcohol so I got a mocktail - The Peach Pétillante (peach ginger lemon). It was quite delightful, refreshing with just the right balance of sweetness and tang. The happy hour deals are pretty good with 8 dollar cocktails, and the cozy, laid-back vibe is a nice spot to unwind especially after work. They also have outdoor seating! Amazing place dot gather w friends , eat & drink! The service is attentive and friendly. The food is delicious. Fries were crispy n hot, the deviled eggs at $2.50 each were soo good. Quiche was good too. We had a bottle of cava to start at $62. It was nice dry. So crispy n served chilled. The outdoor seating is much nicer than indoor seating. After the bottle of cava it was happy hour (3-6pm7 so we had a few cocktails for $8. read more
this is such a great find in the wharf area. I came here one windy ass night for a Too Good to Go bag. the pastries were so freaking good. I had the croissant in my bag after two days & it was still so fluffy and crispy. the pain au chocolat was the BEST I've ever had. that or I was really hungry and craving it. but it was so so good! I returned the next windy morning to grab a hot drink from their bar. I ordered a chai latte & it was steamed to perfection. it was the perfect drink for a chilly, windy morning. I truly could not have asked for a better drink to accompany me with my walk down the wharf. read more
We dined here because it was super close to the anthem and my friend with food restrictions could eat there. They seated us very quickly, even with a busy Friday night. We were pretty well spaced from other tables and the inside was super cute. My friends got the burger and I got the salmon. We all enjoyed our food and I would definitely come back here again! read more
We made a reservation for Saturday morning at 9 AM but it was pretty empty so it didn't seem like we really needed to. Since this is located at the wharf, I recommend taking an Uber or lyft here since the parking garages are almost always full. There wasn't anyone at the front for a couple minutes but was sat inside promptly when they came back. The patio is covered and heated and the inside is quaint and bright. Our server was somewhat attentive but usually was at the front outside patio area talking to the host staff. I ordered a Latte with vanilla that was very good and my mom ordered the grapefruit juice. We ordered their seasonal muffin which was Banana Chocolate and a Lemon Poppyseed Loaf. The muffin was well flavored but would have tasted better if it was a little warmer. The Lemon Poppyseed Loaf was disappointing, it was cold and very dry and didn't seem fresh. When we asked about it from our server, she just said "it was made today and it's supposed to be like that". She did ended up removing it from our check and asked if we ended up wanting something else instead. We just opted for another muffin. For the main dish, I ordered the Ouefs Au Plait. This was good but the sourdough underneath started getting soggy towards the end and the Mornay and mushrooms did start getting a little salty and overly savory. Honestly, we were just a little disappointed overall and not sure if we'd come back, at least not for breakfast. read more

We stopped into Du Jour just for dessert and drinks. The chocolate croissant was decent, but when I asked for it to be warmed up, the inside was still cold and the chocolate was a solid block instead of melted. The cheesecake was good, but the espresso martini was a total miss, it had a burnt, almost dirty coffee taste and we couldn't get past two sips. Definitely not worth the price of the drink. read more

We came for dinner a chilly January Thursday and were seated indoors. Service was professional but we did have to wait at times as it seemed they were understaffed (surprisingly since it was Winter Restaurant Week). We decided to get off-RW menu items: Omelette de blancs d'oeufs - light and healthy, with the fingerling potatoes being more filling but with ketchup not being very fancy Carottes side - a lot of partially steamed carrots with a nice juice sauce My partner got either a coq au vin or roasted chicken - he liked it but didn't get sufficiently full (he had had onion soup as the starter). Mocktail 'Pêche Pétillante' was a little too full of ice to enjoy on a cold night; sweet I did like the flowerless chocolate torte however, which was like a delicious brownie with crème chantilly adding a nice touch. Walked in on Saturday night around 8 and was able to be seated right away. The waitress was very attentive. We did not intend to eat at Bistro Du Jour (though it was on our list to try for brunch) this evening but due to our frustrations with the service at another establishment about a block away, we decided to have our entrees at another establishment. My picture for my quiche du jour - quiche Lorraine came out blurry. It was on the dry side even though the vegetables were fresh on the side. It tasted good but the ham was a little sparse. The croque madame was too soggy on the bread even though it was tasty. The best was the mussels. Generous portion and the fries came out piping hot. We were seated on the patio and were lucky that there was no wind. read more

We came here with a group of 10 on a Saturday night and they were able to accommodate us. Cute cafe with an outdoor heated patio that is dog friendly. The service was great, our server was nice and checked on us often. There's only one bathroom in the facility which was a bit inconvenient because I saw guests waiting outside throughout the night. Dinner options are pretty limited. I didn't particularly like the escargot. The drinks were good. I would probably return for lunch or coffee next time instead of dinner. read more
This is a very cute spot along the Warf. My sister and I came here for a quick breakfast during the week and really enjoyed it. They have a good selection of pastries and beverages in addition to their breakfast menu. I got the Plat Américain, and my sister had the Sandwich au Petit Dejeuner. Both were delicious. read more

Classic French bistro-- everything just as you'd expect at a French cafe. It was nice for our group of 12, which allowed us to try a bunch of different dishes. Our server (Saralynn?) was lovely and patient with our questions and indecision. Aside from the Steak Frites (which is we found undercooked and unimpressive) we enjoyed the meal very much read more

Stopped in for lunch with a friend yesterday. Parisian ambiance and enjoyed a table by the window. They brought complimentary deviled eggs which I enjoyed before our meal. We started with the gougers - 5 smallish cheese puffs - light and airy and tasty. We also had the tarte flambé which was more like a flat bread, light cheese and carmelized onions - also tasty. The mussels were a good portion and cooked well, the sauce was just ok. The fries were tasty and more like a hand cut. The crème brûlée was outstanding. Service was good. We chose Bistro Du Jour to host a colleague's baby shower. The restaurant staff were incredibly kind and accommodated our group of 10+ individuals on a walk-in basis. They pulled several tables together and kept us in a separate wing of the outdoor seating area, which allowed us to do our baby shower activities without being disturbed or being a disturbance to others. We managed to keep everything consolidated on one bill, which we settled amongst ourselves afterward. Camila was attentive without being intrusive. The food came out rather quickly and the orders were accurate. I enjoyed the Moules Frites (pictured) because my partner is allergic to shellfish, and I'm not often at a restaurant without him. The shellfish portion was large, tasty, and light, and the fries were cooked just right. Overall, we had a great experience at Bistro Du Jour. Try the Hugo Spritz; it's delicious. Bistro du jour at the wharf has gotten better (service and atmosphere wise) since they first opened.The bathroom remodel was a HUGE improvement! I usually just stop in for a coffee/cocktail and a pastry. When I crave a burger this is the place I go. The burger americaine is the best burger I've had in DC and it's always consistent. read more
While we love French dining, this was not my favorite, but is very, very good, so should probably get 4.5 stars. My Croque Madame I felt needed more flavor, perhaps a little saltiness to the ham and a cheesier cheese flavor. The sauce was a bity mustard, almost wasabi like flavor. We were at the Wharf for the jazz festival so this was perfect for an informal quick bite. read more
3 stars for the service but 1 star for the food. :-/ Just because you're located in a high populated area at the Wharf where you're guaranteed to get customers, doesn't mean to slack on the food. Came to Bistro du Jour down by the wharf for restaurant week. They have an excellent outdoor seating area that has a good view of everything going on. Our server was also extremely friendly, I had a coupon for a free appetizer or drink (but was told it was only valid for the Capitol Hill location but the manager still comped a drink which was so sweet). I started with the French onion soup. I loved the onions in it and the cheese on top was so beautifully broiled. A little watery but still decent. Salmon- I appreciate you can choose how your salmon is cooked here. It was pleasant but didn't stick much out to me (but the medium cook was perfect). The salad was also well dressed. Lovely cute restaurant with good service and ambience. Unfortunately the food was just okay. My fav between the beef bourguignon, steak frites and croque madame was the croque. Side Mac was also good and French onion soup was good The latte was also EXCELLENT read more
