A really beautiful coffee shop that is a great place to do work/read! It's inside a museum but the staff is so lovely and were super helpful with directions. They have cool seasonal drinks, I loved the Ophelia's Bloom (a lavender latter with really good pistachio milk, $7), really good pastries/food, and serve wine/beer too. There's lots of room inside with comfy couches of big tables to do work. It's really so pretty inside too! I loved it here and will for sure be coming back!

Absolutely beautiful hall in the Folger Shakespeare Library. The atmosphere was definitely the best part as it's a super unique place to grab coffee and hang out. They had a few unique drinks and pastries, but otherwise it was a pretty basic cafe selection. Service was also nice. Highly recommend checking out this cafe for the ambiance. It was packed with people studying, even close to closing time, so it might be hard to find a spot.

Located inside a gorgeous hall in the Folger Shakespeare Library, Quill & Crumb served up my favorite latte of 2026 so far. The cafe hall is just past the theatre upstairs and is DRENCHED in sun and beautiful architectural features. I tried the drink they're most known for, the Ophelia's Bloom Latte. A sweet blend of pistachio milk, lavender and elderberry syrup, and espresso this latte hit all my favorite notes. Service was fast and friendly. I chugged my drink in under 5 and almost went back for another. They were actually out of espresso everyday for a week over the holiday but I went back everyday till they were up and running fully and my god on today!!!!! it was well worth it for this drink

We were at the Folger Shakespeare theater to watch a play. Before the play started, we stopped by this beautiful cafe to grab dinner and drinks. They have mostly bakery food with some salad or sandwich options. I ordered the chicken curry croissant. I had never seen Indian/french fusion before. So I was very excited to try this one. After my first few bites of the croissant, I decided not to try croissant any other way. This was so delicious. Savory croissant especially with the chicken curry flavor is the way to go. As an Indian, I might be slightly biased lol. The space is great. They have open WiFi and the place is pretty quiet. I might stop by to work from here soon. Service was great as well.

Had no idea we had the world's largest collection of printed William Shakespeare in @folgerlibrary , let alone that there's a lovely little cafe nestled inside! I'll be sure to come back for lunch, they had a large selection of lunch and sweet options and the pricing wasn't bad!

The Folger is a super cool space and their cafe is charming - reasonable prices for the area and a museum, plus everything was really good! Only downside really is that this spot is VERY busy on the weekends - there's not a ton of seating and there are lots of people on laptops camped out which can make it tricky to find seating. I wasn't able to find a spot the first Saturday I visited so I came back on a weekday and it was a little better - still busy because it was lunchtime but I was able to get a table with a friend.

Absolutely overpriced but I guess the cost covers the atmosphere? Latte is $6 without tax. Got busy right when they opened at 11 AM. Very cool space. Clean bathrooms & solid AC.

Located inside the Folger Shakespeare Library, this cafe has one of the nicer ambience out there with a very high ceiling and spacious hall. You order at the front and pick up the order number to be placed on the table, but you can opt to just pick up the order in front if it is just a drink. I got the Ophelia's Bloom latte which sounded more unique than the regular coffee drinks. For $7.70 it is quite overpriced and the coffee was too sweet for my liking, but the flavor notes are pretty good so I'll give them that. I wish they allowed customization on sweetness or at least offer it as an option.

My boyfriend and I came right when it opened at 11 and the service was really quick and friendly. The inside is beautiful - Quill & Crumb is located inside Folger Theater, and has exceptional crown molding and paneling details. The seating area is huge but I wish the side armchairs had bigger side tables to accommodate guests. I got the seasonal soup (it was tomato and orange) and delightful. The Madras curried deviled eggs were also excellent. My hibiscus iced tea was way too acidic for my liking and the cheddar chive scone was average.

Very beautiful setting to have a midday meal or coffee/tea with friends. We came right at opening since no reservations are allowed and were able to snag a table for 6 of us for book club. Not as quiet as I thought for a library cafe but that was perfect for us to have conversation. The salmon toast was good, as was the side salad. The Strawberry Latte was a bit on the sweet side but I still enjoyed it. Not a culinary feat of course but definitely nicer and more "cafe-feeling" than other museum cafes. Parking on the street was pretty easy on a Sunday.

While the prices are little higher than necessary for an espresso or iced tea, the snacks are always good and even on a busy Sunday it's not too loud. It was a rainy day today but typically the wall of windows bring in spectacular light making it a great place to meet a friend or catch up on work.

Adorable cafe inside the Folger Shakespeare Library! They have a nice menu with coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and salads. The food was pretty good and the lavender lemonade was very refreshing! We also popped our heads into the reading room which is right by the cafe and very lovely.

Super cute spot. And it's open until 9pm. The exhibits are also open. I wish you could take food and drinks in but I get it.

This is the lobby where the cafe is located.

But, that's very preferential to my palate... the roast they serve from small planes is beautiful. The espresso beans are single origin and they serve a blend for their drip coffee. But the gem of this coffee shop is the baked goods! It is absolutely the most delicious and well made bread I've ever had in a coffee shop. I feel like they should be a bakery that serves coffee on the side. Their mushroom toast is out of this world! Like the best thing I've had in a long time. Their sourdough and multigrain bread is the foundation and the most beautiful one at that. The sauce is magnificent. Their croissant is as close to magic as you can get... I just wish I had come in time to have it warm. Their avocado toast is served with fresh piles of beautiful avocado. But again, the multigrain bread is the star! Their Pain Suisse... magic in a pastry... chocolate and pistachio wrapped in flaky croissant! beautiful and delicate... it's a must get!

Here's what's going for them. 1) Food & Drink: Every pastry they make is worth the money and calories, especially their pain suisse. (It's the best I've ever had.) You can go savory with their quiche or ham and cheese croissant or go sweet with monkey bread, basque cheesecake, and more. To drink, they have a full coffee menu and free water in a jug at the condiment counter. 2) Service: Despite busyness, their staff often are patient, calm, and efficient. 3) Space: It's much larger than their original location with several long tables, small tables, window seats, and more. Total came out to approximately $55. What's hot - Menu. Good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, even possibly vegans. There are sweet and savory options, eggs, french toast, salads, sandwiches, etc... - Quality. Excellent! All 3 of us really enjoyed the food that we ordered. Their french toast and omelettes are delicious. My husband particularly liked the maple syrup that was served with his french toast, because the maple flavor tasted a bit stronger than your average maple syrup. Their pastries are also delicious! Soft, good texture and not too sweet. Given the softness, my best guess is that their sweet treats are recently made. - Service. Pretty good. We did not wait very long for our orders to be ready. The hot foods, like the omelettes, french toast, and drinks, appear to be freshly made. - Price. Good value for money, given the quality and portions. - Location. Convenient location in D.C. However, given the location, be prepared for it to get busy quickly, which means decent lines and wait times. What's not - Interior space. Very tight squeeze inside. There are tables and chairs inside, but their biggest tables can only fit 4 people. If you have children with a stroller or whatever, be prepared to not have room inside. They have outside seating, but that's only conducive to when the weather is warm. This place appears to be popular, which means it can get packed very quickly and seating can be difficult to find. - Acoustics. They play relatively loud music inside, which makes it difficult to have conversations with those you're with. That the interior is small, the music travels easily, which does not help. - Omelette. Even though I liked the flavor of my omelette, it was rather thin. I prefer my omelette to be more weighty/fluffy in texture. Additionally, cheese is not automatically included with the omelette. I ordered mushrooms, red peppers, spinach, and bacon in my omelette. I mistakenly believed cheese was automatically included, but I was wrong. - Parking. Is not easy to find given the location. There is street parking, but it's very difficult to come by. Final Answer Would like to come back, but probably not a first choice given the tight squeeze of the interior. If I do return, would more likely than not order takeaway.

This location is an entire vibe. It's tucked down a painted alley that leads you to a side entrance, which I actually preferred over the front. Parking is what it is at the Wharf, but I recommend parking near the museum and walking over. Once inside, you're met with gorgeous decor and a thoughtfully designed space that feels like a Spanish-style bar set in nature. The tile, the color palette, and the food and drink options all come together beautifully. I ordered the Carrot Cake Con Leche, which came out to about $8 after tax.
