    Tuna Salad Sandwich

Ordered Uber eats from this cafe as they're running a one for one special - Pepperoni flatbread, Tuna salad sandwich, and Bagel (plus a side like a snack or a fruit). The Tuna sandwich is really good and we ate the flatbreads for both lunch and dinner for the day, saving us from the hassle of cooking.

Such a cute spot! The staff is incredibly nice and the food super tasty. First visit we ordered coffee, two breakfast sandwiches (one we replaced with the halloumi cheese because I am obsessed), as well as crumb cake. Now don't be turned off by the pastry case! That's only for show and not what you'll actually get. Because my crumb cake was insanely good. Couldn't believe how moist the cake was and the crumb topping was literally the same height as the cake itself. 1:1 ratio! Our second visit was for more crumb cake, another breakfast sandwich, coffee and hot chocolate. Couldn't pass it up. The space is tucked away, not overly busy, plenty of seats, and dog friendly! Sadly I didn't take any pictures of the food because I devoured it.

Chez Lily is one of the most underrated gems in this city. This is one of my absolute favorite places to come to study and get work done during the day. It is never too crowded, provides a great atmosphere to get work done, and provides more affordable (and great quality coffee). As a small business in Mt. Vernon, they help make the neighborhood feel more native and homey. One of the best parts of this place is that it is a dog-friendly cafe (they have a dog water fountain and treats) which means dogs are coming in and out throughout the day. One thing that astounds me about this place is how much they care about their patrons. The owner usually comes in on the weekend and is always attentive to the needs of everyone here. They also have unique seasonal drinks (I think about the maple cinnamon latte from fall frequently) which is always exciting to try. Furthermore, they have a variety of dairy-free alternatives to their coffee (oat, macadamia, and almond I believe). They recently opened an outdoor seating area which I will be excited to take advantage of when it gets warmer.

I stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon when I was in the area. It's a pretty small place and very well decorated with lots of plants. I got a small iced vanilla latte and I was worried it would be too sweet, but it turned out to be perfect. The prices are also great compared to other places in the area. I paid $5.90 for a small and there were breakfast sandwiches for $6.50 that I would come back to try! Would definitely recommend!

What a cute little coffee shop! I love the plant wall that greets you as you first walk in the door. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating here. I got an iced latte and thought it was great; my companion ordered a cappuccino and it came out a little too hot, but definitely still drinkable. Both baristas were very friendly.

It is very beautiful inside, natural light and greenery when you walk in. There are a few places to sit. There was only one employee working when we went on a Friday morning. Rose latte, iced: I was disappointed. Disclaimer- This was a new thing for me so maybe it tasted how it was supposed to taste and I just don't like rose flavored drinks. However my disappointment comes from expecting something more like coffee with rose taste but it was all rose. The pictures I saw from another Yelp review and in the cafe still looked like coffee with a light brown color. My drink was completely pink and it didn't taste like even a splash of coffee was in it. I would be willing to give this place another try and get one my regular coffee drinks to know if I truly like it or not. The cheesecake brownie was good, worth the 3 stars. It's not the best brownie ever but it was decent.

I have been meaning to try this coffee shop and decided to this week. My dad and I ordered sandwiches and coffee. The coffee was delicious! Definitely can add this spot when I need some. The food itself was just ok. We ordered a bagel sandwich and tuna sandwich. While both were good, next time I'll focus just on the coffee. Can't wait to stop in again!

They have a smoked salmon bagel for only $5.75. I'm pretty sure this is the best deal on smoked salmon bagels in the city. I'll def be back for this often. I'm excited to see one of my favorite dishes at an affordable cost. It's a nice place with indoor seating, easy parking and friendly staff

Photoworthy latte. Loved it, but it was a one time moment for me. The flavor is strong and potent!

Chez Lilly is small, warm, inviting, and quiet. I enjoyed the space as well as the server and the eats. Rose latte (total Yelp find) was wonderful. The rose flavor was front and center. Very strong! Lots of other options to choose from though, and the breakfast sandwich and avocado toast were really amazing. Nice that they're so dog friendly. Great coffee shop

Great coffee shop and vibe! Chez Lily, a somewhat new coffee shop in the now Mount Vernon Triangle (former Mount Vernon Square) neighborhood. Named after the dog of the owners, it is nestled between Tropical Smoothie and Orangetheory -- off of 4th and I Street NW. It is somewhat hidden off the beaten path of its neighboring street just around the corner where Bus Boy & Poets, A Baked Joint & La Columbe.....all share the same block and stay crowded.. Chez Lilly offers the opposite. It is quiet, quaint and the foot traffic is a lot less...at least for now. This is a good thing, especially when you are looking for the perfect neighborhood spot to telework, get some studying or reading done....or even meet-up with a friend for some convo. There are a few small tables and window seating in the place. In addition there is Free-Wifi and it is pet-friendly. Chez Lily offers a selection of coffee, organic loose-teas, wraps, and desserts in a small, but casual comfortable space. On this day, I tried the a unique creation....called a Spicy Turmeric Chai Latte. The title made it seem like there was going to be a lot going on with my drink, but surprisingly....it was soooo good and packed of punch of all the warm spice flavors you think of when you say Chai....ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, vanilla, ground nutmeg...and list goes on! It was finished with rose editable rose petals.....Talk about eye-appeal and healthy!! This drink clearly was the right tonic and elixir to warm your soul....not to mention all the antioxidants in the drink and rose petals which is good for that Vitamin C! One word to describe it in a nutshell...DELICIOUS!! I also tried a Double Fudge Pecan Brownie. Although it look amazing, I must admit it was a disappointment. It was too dry and stale as if it was a couple of days old, to be frank (1 star - deduction). Nevertheless, nothing "a little dunk" in the xxXtra Hot Spicy Turmeric Chai Latte could not solve. Dunking the brownie in this concoction was heaven! In all, a really cool coffee shop with a more community - neighborhood feel. It offers a great space and unique beverages and/or specialty coffee drinks to fit the most indiscriminate coffee drinker taste buds. They also serve regular coffee....which is roasted coffee and espresso beans from Vigilante Coffee Co., a local Maryland-based roaster....some of the best around!

We had a wonderful time at this coffee shop not just because it's extremely cute but also the service and coffee we had in here was superb. I had a rose latte and it taste was as good as I thought it will be. The coffee was gridded right there in front of us and the milk was so creamy, I loved it. The taste of the roses essences and the rose on top was to die for and It reminded me of a rose marmalade I used to eat in my country a long time ago. They have seating areas inside and outside the vibe was great and the music was also good.

I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. That's when I stumbled onto Sharbat. It's a rather quaint and cute Azerbaijani bakery and as I was window shopping all the cakes and baklavas, someone across the counter says "let me know if you have any questions" and I look up to see an angelic beautiful woman (this does not affect my rating haha) but I guess I wasn't expecting to see that. Anyway, she went through explaining various pastries and had a couple Turkish ones as well. I went with a pistachio baklava and a slice of honey cake. Honestly, I wanted to try all the cakes and even though they say honey cake is their most popular, there were a few that looked more appetizing. However, slightly convinced by the one other customer there eating her slice of honey cake, I decided to try it. I've only had honey cake once before so I won't act like I know what's best but that time the layers were thinner which I prefer but I like how it wasn't overly sweet despite it being honey forward. The baklava was one of the best, but I probably say that about most baklavas.

But now I suggest that Sharbat is a bakery for people who think they don't like baklava. My friends finally persuaded me to try some, and oh man is it good. It's nothing like the baklava I know. Perhaps because it is made Azerbaijani style - at the eastern end of Turkish culinary reach. It is more cakey and less sweet. But still plenty sweet, with a nice nutty crunch. I don't know whether to kiss or curse my friends for turning me on to this, but now I know. And now so do you.

To say, I am disappointed in my experience here is an understatement. I don't normally write review, however, I want to warn others before they waste their money. I went with a friend to support local businesses. We were excited because the reviews were pretty solid. However, once we ordered, we were greatly disappointed. I ordered a Matcha Latte and the servers simply poured milk into a dirty worn out cafeteria plastic cup and dumped matcha powder in it without stirring or blending or adding any flavor. The picture shown below is after I mixed the powder into the milk more. My friend ordered a caramel frappe (not pictured) and the drink lacked caramel. It was simply blended milk and ice. The making of our drinks did not reflect a "cafe" style nor experience. Moreover, the food was below lackluster. The Northern Capital sandwich looked amazing in theory; however, I received one small piece of chicken on a large hoagie roll drenched in mayo with 3 pieces of spinach and a slice of avocado. In my opinion, the portions definitely did not match the price of the sandwich. Furthermore, my friend ordered the Steak & Cheese which came without cheese. After this, my friend and I did not drink the Latte and Frappe. We ate a small portion of the sandwiches to give the restaurant a fair chance, but we were beyond disgusted with the drinks. Therefore, we asked for a refund or the server to re-make them. To which the server laughed in our face with a nasty attitude replying, "Absolutely not!" I absolutely hate to leave a 1-star review on a local restaurant, but I could not go on without warning others to avoid the "cafe" portion of this place if you value your money. Fortunately, we went to a local restaurant nearby afterward to cleanse our palette and thoroughly enjoyed the service and food. More importantly, the prices were comparable to this place but they provided much larger portions and great service.
