Drinks with very messy counter :(.
    Abigail M.

Worst experience I have ever had in the food and drink industry. My girlfriend and I walked in on a cold day, seeking some warm drinks. It was quite small and a little bit unkempt, that should've been my first sign to walk out. I ordered a hot latte with sugar-free caramel and my girlfriend ordered a latte, iced with caramel. I headed to the bathroom while we waited to wash my hands, and this was another red flag. The bathroom was fine in appearance, but when I went to turn on the sink to wash my hands the knob fell straight off. I was completely shocked. I washed my hands and walked out to my girlfriend, who was very very agitated because the baristas were not wearing gloves. In fact, one of them was even touching the cash register and people's cash, and then going to make drinks. Appalling! I was then informed after taking a few sips of my drink that it (along with the drinks of pretty much everyone else in that café) had been touched by one of the hands of one of the gloveless baristas. The interior as a whole was very filthy and messy. With that, I immediately threw my drink away and my girlfriend did the same. $13 wasted and we will never be going back.

    Mocha, with breakfast pastries

Super friendly smiles as soon as we walked in. Staff greeted us immediately which added to the homey vibe inside. We got the mocha the chocolate croissant and blueberry muffin. My boyfriend got the mocha and he doesn't really like coffee but he enjoyed it a lot. I got a blueberry muffin and I thought it was very good and moist. The chocolate croissant was pretty good it was larger than I expected. However they don't seem to heat it up for you which I would recommend asking them too. I originally didn't think that they had a heater but I realized that they did have a toaster to warm up food but they didn't offer to. Overall a pretty good experience!

I love Timgad Cafe! I have been their weekly customer for the past two years and guarantee that it's one of the best coffee shops in the area. Although their espresso could use some dialing, the coffee shop's ambiance and friendliness of staff members is unparalleled. I normally get their dulce de leche Cafe Timgad, which is a sweet and silky milk coffee. The coffee is normally $6-7. They also carry sandwiches, baked goods, tea, juices, etc. with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. It's a few steps away from the Federal Triangle metro stop and close to many restaurants. Grab a bite nearby and enjoy a delicious coffee right after. This place is a hit for federal workers in the area!

Best coffee of the trip to DC so if going for coffee this is easily a 5. The ambiance is also fantastic. We were cold and a little excited when we saw they have hot slow-cooked soups and it sure was cold on this day so we got excited. It mentioned those soups several places, but the staff basically said they don't have it and sounded like it is not consistent. There was also some uncomfortable banter between some of the staff. Not sure what it was about. But we still had the hot coffee we needed and like I said before, very good coffee!

After parking in the Ronald Reagan Building Parking Lot, I moseyed on over to Timgad Cafe since it's connected. The security guards said it's the best spot to grab coffee in the area. I got myself: 1) Toasted Parma Sandwich (Prosciutto, Genoa Salami, Hot Capicola, Provolone Cheese, Roasted Red Pepper, Tomato and Onion on a Fresh Baguette) 2) Cortado (espresso with a small amount of steamed milk) The sandwich was yummy but I didn't really like the Cortado. I should've just gotten some black drip coffee or an Americano. I like the wooden decor inside and I played a little guitar since they had one in there that anyone could just pick up and strum/pick at.

    Spotlight on the latte art!

In a city with so many coffee spots, where can you just bask in good vibes? Timgad Cafe! Normally, I hold on writing reviews until I've gone a few times but the visit was that enjoyable! How so? Read on... When my friend and I arrived, it was pretty full yet didn't feel crowded or rushed. We were greeted and placed our orders. If you opt for a pastry, it is self-serve which is probably convenient in a rush. It also probably means it is not a hot pastry (perhaps in the morning?) I had an apple fritter which was not colossal (yay!) and was tasty. For beverage and in continuing my love of coffee art, I ordered a latte. While the taste wasn't my favorite, I loved the art! All about the latte art ;-) So what else rocked? Service, speed of beverage prep, consistency of coffee art and the vibes, yes calm vibes! People doing their own thing yet feeling like a laid-back community. Timgad, I'll be back!

    Iced Oatmilk Vanilla Latte
    Sydney C.

I desperately needed a refreshing drink since it was so hot during my visit to DC, so I stopped at Timgad's. I got an Iced Vanilla Latte with oatmilk. It was refreshing but I wish the espresso was stronger since the vanilla and oatmilk were overpowering. It was also really expensive for a medium latte. However, I would still recommend giving it a try! Location was cute but I don't remember there being a whole lot of seating since it was smaller.

We wanted to have better quality Coffee than what's usually served at the Smithsonian Museums. We found Timgad on Yelp. Most security we've been subjected to in order to partake a cup of Coffee. Located in a building where the US Customs and Border Patrol is headquartered- hence the security scrutiny. It's located on the concourse level - downstairs from street level (look for the street level sign with an arrow pointing to the stairs). I ordered a Latte. Reasonably priced at $4. Good Coffee. Much better Coffee than what we've gotten at the Smithsonian. Nice relaxing space to enjoy our Coffee. Well worth the 0.5 mile walk and the security process to get to. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

They operate a deli counter in the front and a bar / speakeasy in the back. You can rent out the bar space for private events. Last night, we had the space (and a bartender!) to ourselves, along with 3-4 different types of sandwiches. There is something SPECIAL about their seeded Italian bread. The perfect flakiness and texture. I enjoyed the chicken fontina and Italian. The caprese was my least favorite--not sure if they use a balsamic or what, but the flavor wasn't coming through. Before I left, I decided to order a large chicken cheesesteak to take home for lunch the next day. It was a bit of a risk to order a hot sandwich that I would have in the fridge overnight but I heated it up in our air fryer/toaster oven for all of 10 mins and the bread was good (not soggy) and the sandwich itself was delicious. I enjoyed it so much, I didn't stop to take a photo until the last bite :) It's a decent size sandwich--I ate half for lunch (along with my own chips and veggies) and have another half for tomorrow so while it's not cheap, I think it's reasonable.

The worst part is they charged me nearly $20 for that abomination. What a rip off. I thought they were decent pre-covid, but apparently they just don't seem to care anymore. There is metered street parking and commercial lots/garages within a reasonable walking distance from here. They serve wraps, salads, and cold and hot sandwiches. I ordered the Korean Steak Sandwich. It took them about 10 to 15 minutes to prepare my sandwich. They should use a number system for order pickups because people, including myself, had difficulty determining which order they were serving. Many of the sandwich names sounded alike. My sandwich was kind of small for the price, and it wasn't very filling. It was, however, very good. It was flavorful and packed with flavor. The service was ok. It was nothing special. They did their job and did not go beyond or be overly friendly. All in all, I would recommend checking this deli out for some really good sandwiches. If you're hungry and near by, sure go get it but don't make any special trips just for this wrap. Id love to try their other options on the menu at some point!
