As a barista myself..... Why is it so expensive yet poor quality? Got a cortado there and it's more like a macchiato - very foamy, steamed way too hot, espresso not dialed (or did not redial) so very bitter. The staff was chatting before a manager/ other staff noticed me to tell the register staff to ring me in... And they had the espresso prepared in the portafilter already before I order. So they did not ground the coffee fresh once order... Makes sense it's bitter. It's so low quality I'm in shock they get to charge it so much for a tiny cortado. Never coming here again even the cafe seems nice and many people work there. It's more a place to work/chill over actually about the coffee. read more

Ok...They claim to be coffee roasters, but the baristas were not knowledgeable. I was excited to see they offer POUR OVER brewed coffee. I asked what beans they offer, and was told: light, medium and dark. I was expecting single origin options. I asked if they had any single origin beans. Again, I was told, yes, light, medium or dark. I clarified again and asked, do you have Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. He said, yes, that is our medium roast. I really had to pull out this important information. I ordered and he didn't brew it properly. He kept taking long breaks, letting water empty out causing beans to cool below proper extraction temperature. The coffee didn't taste like freshly roasted pour over. It was a big disappointment. We dined in and waited a half hour to get our food and coffee. I ordered the CROISSANT SANDWHICH with eggs, bacon and avocado. It was tasty but very messy and I had to eat with fork and knife. It should be served open face My daughter ordered the FRITTATA WITH ZUCCHINI. She opted for egg white version. It was HUGE! You can easily share this. However it was bland and not very tasty. This was a very expensive breakfast. I had expected much better quality food and coffee for the money. Service was awful. It is quick if you order drip coffee and a premade pastry. I stumbled upon this cafe while walking to my conference. I absolutely love how much seating area there was to get work done. They have a great options for lunch and breakfast. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap with the honey oat latte and it was so divine! The staff was very nice as well. I honestly loved the vibe of the coffee shop. I wish there was one in Orlando! Yes the prices are high, but the food and drinks hit every time and if you're just getting a drink, service is pretty quick. I visited this location multiple times this week and got various drinks, including the hot and cold version of the pistachio white mocha (so good). I also ordered the chicken Caesar wrap twice (moist, crunchy, big portion, makes for a great lunch). The chocolate chip cookie was good if you're a fan of that thick levain-style cookie. This was ok. Went on a Saturday mid-morning. It wasn't empty but wasn't too full either. Most of the tables are large and had 1-2 people at each. Ambiance was nondescript nice. We tried coffee, pastries and breakfast. Coffee was fine but expensive- drip was over $5. Pastries were good. I was disappointed in the disposable cups and silverware for dine in orders. For breakfast I tried avocado toast and a breakfast sandwich. They were both pretty good quality with tons of avocado on them and a tasty side salad. Both were a bit pricey for what they were and took a long time to come to the table despite the many employees and relatively few patrons. WiFi didn't work for me without logging into a third party platform- no thanks Overall it satisfied the need at the time but unlikely that I will be back. For Five was started by two friends from Queens, New York but I actually didn't hear about them until I stopped by this location in DC city center! I do appreciate their creative coffee drink options; I just wish the explanations were somewhere more prominent so people in line can see/decide before ordering. I went for the Gotham Mocha which was not bad. Espresso flavors were present but I wish the chocolate part was more prominent. The spanakopita-like pastry seemed to look thicker in the display case but it was still very well-seasoned with a good amount of spinach and dill. Fabrizio was excellent on this casual slightly cooler Sunday morning. He explained to me that the orange? marmalade pound cake with mint and something else on top had no filling inside. Blueberry cake had nothing inside beside cake and more crème. It is picky of me but it is a way for me to not overindulge too. He and many others are expertly featured on this corny TV backdrop. I wish my Louie could be stronger on maple syrup and the cookie with more flavorful strawberry filling. The cookies here are made fresh. For those cookies not used up they should totally TooGoodToGo them away if they don't already. I was too full from food at other places and the day before . So I did not choose any food on this day. First off, positives. I like the vibe of this place. Clean, open, modern, well-lit- all good things in a coffee shop. I had seen a different sandwich on the online menu that sounded delicious but I didn't see it available in the restaurant itself. No worries. I sat down at a big table with a cushioned chair and waited. They called me up for my latte. It could've used more espresso and pumpkin spice flavor, it just tasted like hot milk. When my sandwich was brought out to me, it looked delicious. It was served with a little side salad too. My friend's sandwich also looked great. My other friend said the coffee was "too bitter" (I'm not sure what this means) and exchanged it for a hot coco which she said was better. My croissant sandwich was very buttery. Like, dripping. I have to say the sign they have out the front advertising their matcha lavender honey latte did its job. I totally was convinced to stop by and try it. I didn't try any of the food but it had a few items on the menu that look really tasty. There's plenty of seats to choose and they also offer outdoor seating. The matcha latte was very good. You have the option to switch out your milk from the standard which is made with macadamia milk. They also have an oat milk option. Always love places with non dairy alternatives. I have so many good things to say about this place and location. First off it was really busy and we found a nice seat on the sofa. We had mobile order ahead of time and I quickly realized that I had ordered for the wrong location. I went to the counter and spoke to one of the staff, and he made me feel like it was no problem at all. For Five supplied us with great morning selections and their coffee was traditionally strong the way I like it. From the first time we entered to the last time we left, the service we received was excellent top notch unexpected service. My wife and I both truly loved the atmosphere and the attention to detail around us. We felt welcomed, as well as invited into this place of business. Everyone seemed situated with their meal and doing some kind of work. For Five is not just a coffee shop, it's a full service bar and serving savoring meals that will hold you through the day! Deliciousness - 3/5 Happiness - 3/5 In some slick new digs, this coffee place fills a big need in somewhat of a coffee dead zone near the Convention Center in DC. It was pretty decent, but didn't blow my socks off. They have a decent-sized menu of coffee-type drinks and tea. I got the Gotham Mocha (although a bit under-chocolatey for me, I actually liked that it was more on the bittersweet than sweet side) and an above-average coffee (which was good, but could have stood to be hotter). I was somewhat surprised when the barista told me they only had one roast available, I always enjoy a selection. Although the drinks were both above average, I was really let down by the pastries. I got a big chunk of chocolate cake that was EXTREMELY dry. It had a fudge cream running through the center of it, which was its sole saving grace. I also bought a giant Oreo-flavored cookie (i.e., it's not an Oreo, but basically a big, fresh baked cookie with Oreo-like cream in the middle) of the type that's been perfected at Levain (and surprisingly Barnes and Noble LOL). I wasn't too impressed with this - the cream was a bit overwhelming and it had a too-crunchy texture even after being warmed up. I'd definitely skip the pastries next time. That said, they had on display an excellent looking set of chocolate chip pancakes (full of actual chocolate chunks instead of chips). So I'll definitely be trying the fresh cooked dish next time I swing by. read more

On a consecutive day by day basis, I've ordered the same drink and was charged three different amounts three different times for the same drink. Upon inquiring regarding the matter, why am I being charged for the same drink three arbitrary amounts I don't know well maybe the person rung it in wrong. I don't know. This is what the drink cost is what I was told however, I order the same drink and have been charged three different prices. I asked to speak to a manager I was told there's no manager. They don't know his schedule.
