    Bag of shatta batata
    Tracy D.

Saw this restaurant pop up on "Somebody Feed Phil" so I had to check them out since we were close to a location. Since it was later in the day, they were out of some of their baked goods items. So we grabbed the bbq lamb shoulder wood-fired pita sandwich and shatta batata tots to share. The sandwich was big in size, so you can easily share it. My daughter and I shared it and we both liked how filling it was and the ingredients were fresh. The lamb was super tender and the combination of flavors were amazing. The tots were also seasoned well. It also came with a tasty creamy dipping sauce. I did wished they were cut in layers like a hasselback potato like I saw on the show. I thing texturally it would have been more interesting than the current tots which had chunky pieces of potato in squares. For the drinks my sister got the coconut cardamom and I got the peanut dalgona. The peanut dalgona drink is the drink to get. I loved the flavor profile and the creamy topping. The place was busy. At the end of the day reservations aren't required. It's sit where ever available. Overall we had a great time. We would come back again.

A little loud for a sunday morning, but the service was excellent and the baked goods were exceptional. The team from Albi delivers.

I came here on a Saturday morning and almost let the line out the door put me off - but this cafe is well worth the wait (and the line moved pretty fast anyway). I had the coconut cardamom iced latte and a "jammy egg." I think I'll be dreaming about both of these until I can come again. The pastry cup was flaky, savory, and a little spicy, and the egg was the perfect jammy texture. I'm not one for super sweet coffees, and the latte hit the spot. It was busy inside but not too loud, and my friends and I found a table pretty quickly. Can't wait to come back!

Finally made it here! We were originally going somewhere else but changed mine.. ended up at Yellow. Since we were early, we were able to fit seating somewhat easy. Ordered Baklawa mocha, coconut cardamom, strawberry rose muffin and jammy egg. All were 10/10! Would def come back for more!

    BBQ Lamb Pita

I've been a number of times to the yellow in Georgetown, but this was my first time to the union market location. It's nice that they have a pick up window to make it easier for online orders because even around two an hour before they close there was still a line out the door. It was moving pretty fast, so not as big of a deal. There's a decent amount of indoor seating, and I felt like the turnover of tables was pretty high with open seating, so not too hard to find a seat. I ordered the BBQ lamb shoulder pita which is also apparently rated one of the seven best sandwiches in North America. I can understand it. It was actually really good. A lot of good flavors. I felt like it was going to be not filling in the beginning, but was actually quite filling and had good meat depth in the pita. They pitas are made in house, so small imperfections make it more original. It is a little bit saucy so definitely grab some napkins, but it's a ton of flavor and definitely makes sense why it's one of their signatures. I've had their chicken pita in the past and that was also really good. Definitely a must stop if you're in the union market area. You can also order online if the line is

A popular Middle Eastern inspired Cafe. It has two branches in DC with slightly different menus. I have been to both places for breakfast/brunch. Tried the pita, the labneh, the Zaatar Croissant and the Roselle/Malabar tea. The tea was my favorite. Very refreshing, with a hint of spiciness. The pita was huge; each weighed about ~6oz so one piece is generally enough for one meal. It was freshly baked and very fluffy and relatively thicker than the pitas in most restaurants. The labneh was just normal. The Zaatar Croissant was stuffed with lots of labneh and coated in Zaatar. The Zaatar smelled amazingly but did not have much taste. The labneh went well with the croissant. In short, it is an interesting cafe but not a must-visit place if you are traveling in DC -- even if you are a fan of Middle Eastern food like me:)

Very nice location! I stopped in after doing some shopping in the Union Market area to grab a pick me up drink -- their Halawa Honey Latte with oat milk is so smooth, nutty, and not too sweet. They were pretty packed out and were able to turnaround orders pretty quickly. I would definitely be back!

Now this spot has very unique options. I love their coffees and desserts. They have an upstairs sitting area and good place for coworking. I would recommend!

I may or may not have stopped by Yellow simply for their soft service ice cream! I had the Labna flavored soft serve which is basically like vanilla yogurt. It comes topped with pistachios and baklava flakes. The best part? They pack more of those toppings within the cup, so you're getting even more chewy baklava goodness distributed throughout. Now, $12 for ice cream is a bit crazy, but so is buying anything in DC. It was also bustling in there so basically I need to return for their dinner!

Their pita is a MUST try here. Probably the fluffiest pita I've ever tried. Be ready to wait in line but it moves fairly quickly and is definitely worth it.

I'd been to Yellow the Cafe in Georgetown a couple times for breakfast and was curious to try their location in NOMA for dinner. I went with a friend on a Friday night and it was busy! About a 30minute wait. Once seated though service was fast and friendly. We decided to share a couple of dishes which is definitely the way to go. I recommend the octopus + soujek kebab and you have to order the hummus for the pita alone if nothing else - their pita is GOOD. And we finished the evening with the baklawa and pitaschio labne which was DIVINE, I'd go back for that alone. I'll admit having only tried their breakfast menu, the kebab prices caught me off guard especially when I realized it would be $20-30 for ONE kebab and everything else would be a la carte including any rice or flatbread. The quality is definitely worth the price though.

Yellow consistently has incredible service and menu options. They are constantly innovating with flavors. The soft serve combinations are delicious as well as the pita sandwiches and coffee.

Cute Middle Eastern cafe near Union Market! There was a bit of a line, but it moved fairly quickly. I had the soft serve labne with pomegranate molasses, EVOO, and sea salt, which was a pretty unique combination. It was decent, but the price felt steep ($9) for the amount of ice cream given. I don't think I'd have this again if I were to go back, but the other items (harissa BBQ cauliflower pita, etc) looked super good. Overall, I would give this a 3.5/5; the soft serve wasn't bad but I didn't love it enough.

We did the Za'atar Gruyère Croissant, chocolate croissant, the cheese biscuit item they had (don't remember exact name) and the sfogliatelle. I'm in search of the best croissant in DC, so I regret not getting the regular croissant on this visit, but the chocolate croissant gave me an idea of what to expect. Buttery, flaky, crispy, with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The typical chocolate croissant was my personal favorite. When we asked what the most popular items were, we were surprised it wasn't the more classic bakery items, but we enjoyed what we tried. We want to go back soon to try some other items as well. My friend got a coffee and also enjoyed that! This is the perfect place to stop by for a treat if you make it in time!

As someone who works in the industry and is very familiar with coffee and coffee shops, I was genuinely shocked by how rude and unprofessional the staff was. I ordered a house latte with an extra double shot, which made it a quad shot, and I also paid for extra ice and requested that it be served in a large cup. It wasn't a complicated order. When I saw a drink come up, I politely asked, "Is that mine by any chance?" The barista immediately told me to "hush" and said, "I'm not talking to you." I found that incredibly disrespectful and completely unacceptable. When my drink was finally handed to me, I simply asked if the quad shot had been added since I had paid extra for it. Instead of answering my question, the barista ignored me entirely, and another employee had to respond. The employee, Taleisha Young, who was wearing glasses, was especially rude throughout the interaction. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially when they're simply asking about an order they paid extra to customize. Customer service and professionalism should be a priority, and this experience fell far below that standard. Unfortunately, I will not be returning, and I will be sharing my experience on other review platforms as well. I hope management addresses the behavior of its staff so other customers don't have a similar experience.
