I've met a few Teds in my day, but this one topped them all. I traveled to DC for business and leisure purposes, and one night, my party of five decided to ring up Ted for a date in a booth. Ted's Bulletin Noma is a short walk from the hotel I rested my sad little head at, so two minutes after walking in, we were seated in the dark-lit environment that almost put me back to sleep. Despite the nearby ceiling vent dripping condensation on the right shoulder of the highest-paid individual in our group, we enjoyed the deviled eggs app and refreshing tap water. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, and I must say, I'd sell my soul for those dead bird sandwiches. The server was young and energetic, but the service was slower than that of Suddenlink internet. Came here twice as it was next to the hotel I was staying at. First visit was for a late night snack. I sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly but busy restocking as it was towards the end of the day. I had the cheery old fashion as she promised it was one of their stronger drinks. I didn't find this to be true, it was actually overly sweet and tasted more like syrup. The second drink I picked was the bourbon bash. I thought this one would be sweet as it's made with different juices but it was actually on the stronger side. Definitely stronger and better than the Cherry old-fashioned. To snack on I went with the steak and cheese, eggrolls and bacon, blue cheese brussels sprouts. The egg rolls were great. Lots of flavor and the texture was spot on. The brussels sprouts were good for the most part. They did go a little overboard with the blue cheese for my tastebuds. My second visit was for a late breakfast. I started with an Irish coffee by recommendation of the bartender. It was a great way to start the day. It was strong enough but with the right balance. My breakfast plate didn't meet my expectations. My eggs were too running, bacon was chewy, toast was stale and the hash browns were only cooked on one side. I did ask for them to be crispy. The server hands you a small payment machine and quickly pushes you to complete the transaction right then and there. ​Keep an Eye Out: We aren't the type of people to scrutinize a bill closely--if it's right around the expected amount, we don't worry about it. However, the lady at the table right before us was loudly complaining about a service fee on her bill, and she ended up not leaving a tip at all because of it. Combined with how fast they push the payment machine on you, it might be worth taking a quick second to look over your total if you are the type of person who likes to verify the fine print. Came here for a lunch with friends for my birthday. Booked directly with the restaurant via the mail two weeks in advance. I suggest booking even earlier because they only have so much space for large parties. I was able to have a custom prefixed menu. The atmosphere is like a modern day dinner. The apps I had placed for order was spinach artichoke, loaded tots and steak and cheese egg rolls. We loved the egg rolls, the tots were okay but the spinach artichoke had no flavor. Main entrees were steak frites, chicken piccata pasta, blackened salmon and chicken and waffles. I ordered the chicken piccata which was okay I liked the blackened salmon better. I would suggest seasoning for most of the dishes. Our server was nice. You can tell he was overwhelmed. My whole Perry not being on time didn't help either. I didn't realize I had to put 20% gratuity on my own, like one of the staff members basically stopped me from leaving and I felt like regardless they would have changed it anyway. Seasonal salted caramel appletini was so delicious. Tasted just like a caramel candy apple. I drank two easily and loved the garnish. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich. The sesame hoagie was a good vessel. Prosciutto and cherry peppers added great flavor and texture. And the chicken was tasty. We also ordered baked good to go. I came in to meet my niece at the bar, but we were greeted by a bartender who was unwelcoming and displayed a very hostile attitude. When I politely asked if she was okay and requested that she calm down, she called the manager instead. The manager then asked my niece and me to leave the establishment entirely. As paying customers, we found this treatment completely unacceptable. I have always loved visiting your restaurant, which makes this incident especially disappointing. I've been to the U Street/14th Street location before, but this one is by far my favorite. The ambiance, aesthetic, and overall layout are modern, cute, sexy, and elevated. I absolutely love the bar space -- it adds such a great touch to the atmosphere. Our server was extremely accommodating and gave us wonderful recommendations, including the viral cinnamon roll -- which is an absolute must-order. Yes, you have to get it. It did not disappoint. My partner and I made our way into Ted's Bulletin on a (holiday) Monday for brunch. It was busy but only about a 15 minute wait. Our server was kind/efficient and gave us some recommendations. We got the cinnamon roll to split - I wasn't expecting it to be that big - but it was so delicious and we loved it. I got the Turkish eggs for my meal and they were delightful. Everything was cooked well. The cold brew was OK - I felt like it was a bit too bitter but I did enjoy the hazelnut syrup. My biggest issue was our seating. The highlights of the evening were the fried corn bread and bacon grilled cheese with tomato soup. First time visiting the Ted's Bulletin NoMa location. I was in the area attending an event at the Marriott close by. It was pretty busy and I despite having no reservation, we were seated pretty quickly in a booth in the bar area. Despite the bar being high traffic, we enjoyed our time and meal. The bar was beautiful and a vibe for grabbing a quick meal and chatting with a friend. There is a fall menu that you can order from. For my meal, I ordered the breakfast sampler for platter. It came with three eggs my way, toasted sourdough bread, hashbrowns, bacon and sausage, and one of their homemade pop tarts. I also ordered a side of cheddar grits. Come hungry because the platter was a lot of food by itself. I only finished the eggs, which I had overeasy, the sourdough, and bacon. I thought the grits were just okay. A touch too salty and not as creamy as I'd like. The pop tart, while novel, was just okay. I'm glad I tried it tho. read more

This has quickly become one of my go to places in DC NoMa. It's not enough to call it "upscale American diner fare," because it's more than that. They take old fashioned comfort foods up a couple notches. It's not easy to make chicken and waffles "fancy," but they pull it off. I decided to try their Avocado Toast with a generous portion of smoked salmon. It was like comfort food for me with two poached eggs that came with two sizeable slices of sourdough bread with smashed avocado, cherry tomatoes, radish, pickled chiles, fried garlic, microgreens and cilantro tossed in lime juice. I had unflavored Iced Tea and Christa provided me a refill. My friend had the Ted's Cobb Salad with Grilled Chicken. The salad came with a good amount of bacon lardons, tomato, deviled eggs, pickled onions, avocado, gorgonzola cheese on a bed of lettuce and cilantro lime ranch dressing on the side. The food arrived quickly, within ten minutes or less, and everything looked amazing. The tacos were flavorful, fully assembled, and required no additional toppings. While the street corn had the typical flavor, I found it to be quite soupy. The consistency was not what I expected, but the taste remained unaffected. The grilled chicken wrap was perfect, and the fries were well-cooked and seasoned with truffle oil. Our waiter was efficient but not very interactive. He took our orders, checked in on us once, cleared the table, and brought the check. Overall, it was a good experience. Since they don't have the time for my family and I, I don't have the time for them. I wouldn't have called if I didn't still have interest in going to a Ted's. Poor management and staff training here clearly. It's clear that "customer S" is just a random person that doesn't really have an organized system to manage diner's issues while communicating with them. You basically have to talk to a random employee on the phone, then a random manager on duty at the time, and no real policy for handling complaints other than liking like they care online. No way to reach corporate beyond starting another random email thread that probably goes no where. Skip this location unless you care for busy atmosphere and bad training and management while dining. The mimosa kit comes with delicious champagne , the gin and juice cocktail was so strong . I would go back just for that cocktail! The cinnamon roll was as big as my head. So hot, delicious, and can pour however much icing you'd like. A must try, but remember it's large. We split between 4 ppl. A delicious sweet treat after our meal!
