I really wanted to like this place. Went this morning for breakfast and honestly left bummed as did my 3 friends I brought. I moved from Arizona a couple years back and the thought of having a diner with Latino food nearby sounded like a dream come true. I genuinely fear that this restaurant will not last if they can't fix the food. I want to see Rosa's succeed and if so you'll catch me here every Sunday morning guaranteed. Pros: Interior is extremely nice - nicely decorated and feels "home-y" Staff was nice Menu had variety Food looks visually fantastic Cons: All of the food was just missing something Breakfast burrito - tortilla wasn't toasted and just tasted like raw tortilla. The interior was mostly eggs with no seasoning and just felt bland. Chicken and Waffles - the Chicken was dry. Waffles were way too sweet and drenched in syrup. Churro French toast - way too sweet and somehow lacked flavor. Just tasted like caramelized sugar with no churro flavoring or pineapple butter. BLT-Bread was very hard. Coffee - out of stock for cold brew and horchata latte. Only had espresso and milk. Had iced latte but was basically just milk since brought out in a large glass. (Drinks were comped which was extremely nice). I want to emphasize that I'm writing this in hopes of seeing it fixed. I want to love Rosa's and I hope the staff take this as constructive. I've actually never written a review but am writing this as a critique to see a restaurant that deserves to stay around, succeed. read more

I came in for a quick healthy lunch and the chicken bowl was delicious and nutritious. My server, Stiveen was very friendly and helped me pick it out. The ingredients were very fresh a I left feeling full and energized. I'm excited to come back and try some other menu items. Great atmosphere, service and food. read more

Enjoyed our dinner at Rosa's diner - the servers were very friendly and Stephany was great! We really enjoyed the fries

Cosy spot on K street for after work and if you are in the area for an event as it often goes given the location. Glad we booked a table ahead of time, wait time was over one hour on book festival and grand prix Saturday. Our server Kami was delightful, made on point recommendations, checked on us every now and then without being overbearing. The restaurant is in the Moxy building. Restroom up the winding stairs is a tad inconvenient although we didn't ask if elevator was an option. Churros French Toast--5/5-as other reviewers have noted, not much churro-ey going in here but they taste and look good! The caramelization is a nice touch, different from gummy/thick diner style french toast. Garden Fiesta Bowl--4/5-could do with more carrot tahini sauce and seasoning. Lettuce and quinoa in itself can reinforce each other's blandness. Chicken Bowl--5/5 Diner Smash Burger Melt--5/5 Chickpea Salad Sandwich--4/5-more labneh and a thicker sourdough please. read more

First of all they marked us as a no show on Open Table when we definitely showed up and tried their food. We had the classic smash burger, a diet coke, a bbq chicken sandwich, and a tamarindo jarritos. I originally wanted the bolognese but they were out. The fries and tamarindo were the best parts of the meal... Note: the host originally thought I was "Chaz" for a 6:45 reservation, I corrected him, and he acknowledged/confirmed. The restaurant also had a problem with fruit flies while we were there... read more

The ambiance at Rosa's Cafe was cute and inviting, and the food itself was good. Unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet the service was severely lacking, and our food came out lukewarm. For the price and overall experience, I expected much better. Unfortunately, the poor service and lukewarm food overshadowed the positives. I would not return. read more

Very happy about finding a food breakfast spot in this area! I got the avocado toast and 2 lattes and was very impressed. Avocado toast can go wrong in a lot of ways, and this one was good. It had chick peas on it which made it unique and the eggs were actually cooked to perfection. They have been open for 1 month so it wasn't too busy. Cool vibes inside with great service. read more

This is a great little spot for a diner, the ambience is top notch but there's a major gap between potential and execution, the food was okay, interesting and unique, i got the churro French toast which was a fun twist but was underwhelming taste wise. The service was fine, all the waitresses seemed to want to be anywhere else, and would disappear for 15-20 minutes, which working in food service will do that to you, so I can't blame them. I got a caramel latte and it was the strangest latte I've had in my entire life, being basically just milk and caramel, zero coffee taste at all, which for some people is a great thing, so take it how you will. My advice- skip any speciality coffees. Truly, this place has potential, and I think that with a stronger menu and higher quality ingredients read more

Adorable dinner right by K Street, great food, great service. Stiveen was so friendly and fun and we had a delightful meal - definitely recommend the breakfast empanadas with flaky delicate crust and the wet breakfast burrito. Fun vibe too - Mexican ska was playing when we came in, the decor has a classic 50s/60s vibe with modern retro fixtures. Every seat at the bar has a bag hook and a plug, so it's also a great spot for a working lunch or breakfast. read more

Cool new spot in a convenient location in downtown DC! It was easy to get a reservation for mid day on a Saturday, a group of 6-7, which I really appreciated. The food was so-so. I found that the salads were overdressed. The sandwich was okay. Service was kind of subpar. Everyone was friendly, but our server didn't seem to know the menu. We ordered fries that never came. That sort of thing. I think this place is worth checking out despite there being some room for improvement. read more

Great ambiance, I really dig the design and layout. Feels very American southwest diner with modern twists. A lot of room for improvement with service. I'm not sure if back of the house had assistance from our waitress or what, but we weren't checked on in the nearly 30 minutes from ordering food to receiving it. We definitely wanted more coffee to sip on. The pop tart pastry was saccharine, too sweet for both of us and we're both sweet tooths. No real guava or cheese flavor stood out, tasted very orangey? BLT was okay, fries it came with were good! Eggs Benedict was good except for the very salty birria. A composed bite with some of the cherry tomatoes made it palatable and just too salty. Without a composed bite it was basically all you tasted. It's newly opened, we want business like these to succeed so we'll surely be back to give them another chance! read more

Visiting DC for a road trip and we arrived in the morning. So with limited cafes opened we found Rosa's diner. A cool Spanish breakfast spot with a bar. I visited D.C few days ago. I stayed at Moxy hotel where Rosa's diner is. In the evening of Sep 6 I went to Rosa 's diner and wanted to get one scoop of Vanilla ice cream. The servant said one scoop is $9and 3 scoop is $11, it is better to get 3 scoop. They gave me the wrong flavors, there was no Vanilla. I refused to take it, and they accepted the fact that they made mistake, so they took the wrong order and they gave me 2 scoop of Vanilla. I told them 3 scoop is alot. So they should charge $11, but my credit card shows they charged $22.10 it has been 24 hours that I kept calling the restaurant no one even pick up the phone. I can't even leave a message because answering machine is full. Terrible experience. Never go there. read more

In DC for a few days and ate at Rosa's Diner EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I had a different dish each time and loved all of them. If I were going to stay a fifth day here, I'd eat at Rosa's again. Service was great. Stiveen was a very attentive server. Will definitely be back. read more

The food is amazingI had the eggs benedict they had birria in it. The decor its very beautiful, there is AC inside they also had seating outside. Now there is a lot to improve in terms of service, first my food took way to long to arrive about 45 minutes. Also I had no silver wear to eat or for my coffee. I only saw one of the workers doing most of the work and Staff that just walked by me and did not asked if I needed anything. I wish them to learn how to make this restaurant better as the food was very good! read more

The flavors!! We are from Los Angeles and fell in love with this place. Came twice! First time Stefy was our server for dinner ... the smash burger and steak frites oh my!! She was so cool and helpful picking what to get. Then we came for breakfast the Benedict and bakery items. Amazing Pablo was our server and we had a blast with him. It's hard navigating a new city and often DC feels cold/rude to California girls but walking in this place the warm atmosphere we felt the joy and were so taken care of by the amazing people here. read more

While the food tasted good, the terrible service is the number one reason why I will not be returning here. The waiter was unimpressed, unenthusiastic and cold although he did check in on us so I can say that part on him was good. There was another waitress who had glasses and short hair, who I asked for directions to the bathroom. She had given no eye contact was super short and cold and dismissive, and responded upstairs by the bar to the right and kept walking. When my group brought this up to the manager, he also seemed unimpressed and said he will look into it, which I doubt it. Very unfortunate. Hopefully they work better at treating all customers with a warmer approach. read more

Considering all aspects of the dining experience together, I can only give this restaurant a mediocre review. I've been to Rosa's Diner on 2 occasions: 1. for brunch and 2. for a quick dessert, just before closing. The location is very good, and the decor is very nice--although, the lighting is too intense, i.e., too bright. The service, although typically cheerful, was rather disjointed, and it took unusually long for the food to be served. The food was very good. One might, of course, say that this is what matters. True, yet dining is a multifaceted experience, not just a plate of food. The late evening dessert: we sat outside. The table was not very clean. The waiter never brought napkins. And there is a real rat problem. Our dog came face-to-face with one! We counted four. We ordered the skillet apple pie. It was tasty, although the crust lacked "backbone", was rather mushy. For what I found to be relatively small, I experienced sticker shock. I hadn't paid attention the price on the menu. $14 for the pie, $9 for a small scoop of ice cream. I want to see this restaurant succeed. It is a great addition to the neighbourhood. Restaurants succeed when, in addition to serving a great plate of food, they pay attention to all the other important experiential details. read more

I am thoroughly impressed with this little cafe. One doesn't expect much from restaurants attached to hotels, but Rosa's does not disappoint. Over the last week I've had breakfast, lunch or dinner on various days and have yet to be let down. The food is delicious, the cocktails are tasty, and the service does not disappoint. Everyone is friendly and professional- from the servers to the kitchen staff- but Stiveen really shines. He remembers his guests, their preferences, and is welcoming and kind with each visit. I cannot recommend this place enough! read more

We waited 50+ minutes for our food and watched other tables who arrived after us receive their food. Probably won't be back. read more

Every bite was amazing! Tried this new spot - convenient to my hotel - and was completely wowed by the amazing flavors! There are tons of options, but I decided to have breakfast for dinner ... turned out to be the most perfect eggs "Benedict" - which is actually a pupusa topped with tender beef birria & aji amarillo hollandaise ... not to mention the chicken & waffle with roasted pineapple butter. Wow! This Latin diner is like nothing I've tried before. After dinner we even caught the sunset upstairs at Lucha Rosa's rooftop. Can't wait to come back next time I'm in DC. I am a steak & eggs connoisseur. THIS IS TOP TWO BEST STEAK & EGGS I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE AND ITS NOT TWO! the skirt steak tastes like it was marinating in the chimichurri sauce for 3 DAYS before being expertly grilled & served. The eggs and all the ingredients are SUPER FRESH. I'm a California girl so freshness is super important to me. Their hash browns come in a block of crispy satisfaction. When I tell you my body LOVED this food! It came out so quickly and I was greeted so well. Beautiful restaurant and location. WILL BE COMING BACK WHENEVER I'M IN DC! GO HERE! read more

Really nice addition to the neighborhood. High quality tasty food; clean and comfortable atmosphere. Good sized portions. Hamburger was delicious; crispy fries; a plate of plain scrambled eggs that had more taste than anything I ever make; a sandwich of chickpea/cumin salad on sourdough which sounds weird but was really good; a guava and cream pop-tart and skillet apple pie with noticeably crispy buttery crust. Worth going back to. read more
