This is a Louisiana based southern comfort food. The bread pudding was amazing but wait until you try the Etoufee or the Gumbo. It will bring you back to that Louisiana cooking. Servers are so pleasant and very happy providing free sample to make your decision easy. Make sure you order the sweet ice tea as well. This is located in Union Market so best for a take out or eat at the food court or outside seating area on a nice day. Definitely casual place.

Celebrate Black History month by supporting Black owned businesses! Join me Next up, Puddin' Black owned business Black woman owned This order was purchased through UberEats and I couldn't be more happier that I did. Well packaged as you can see and fresh. The shrimp po'boy was DELICIOUS! I'll breakdown the flavors starting with the bread. That was some of the most soft and fresh baked bread that I've ever had. Not sure if it's baked at the location but the level of freshness was amazing. Next, have you ever experienced a flavor collision dish? That's when the right flavors are paired together and your taste buds spirals into a collision lol deliciousness overload!!!!! It started with the shrimps, which I only wished were fried a little more to prevent the batter from slipping off because of the moisture surrounding it. Nonetheless, they were fresh, quite generous, and bursting with flavor. Also not overcooked. Paired with a sauce and another sauce from the coleslaw, this dish gave a little sweet and a little spicy at the same time-loved it. Great quality for the price. Definitely plan to visit in person.

When I saw I could get shrimp etouffee in Union Market, I knew I had to try it. When we arrived at the stand, they asked if we wanted to sample anything. I sampled the etouffee and it was incredible so I ordered it with steamed shrimp. It had so much flavor, I could have licked the cup after. It had a bit of a kick, but I didn't find it too spicy. The portion size was also good for the price. I also got an order of the bourbon bread pudding. The bread pudding was great, just be aware that the bourbon flavor is very strong. Union Market has great places to try, but I would highly recommend trying Puddin'.

My favorite place in union market! The food is delicious, I got their Shrimp Etouffee which was seasoned very well and had a nice spicy kick. Their bread pudding is also really good. The service was pretty quick!

I've been CRAVING some banging Southern food, and I found it here on a whim. Puddin used to be a food truck but is now a stall in Union Market. The staff are so sweet, I was originally tempted by the free samples, and wow... I really trust them because of their transparency, and I love how they literally let me try everything on the menu before ordering. That shows me also how they KNOW their food is good enough to make people wanna buy and try more!!! Étouffée has been on my list to try, and I'm so happy I got to try it here. I absolutely love Cajun and Southern food (gumbo and jambalaya are some of my favorites) so I was curious how the flavors here would live up to what I remember from New Orleans. The étouffée was creamy and incredibly flavorful. So rich!!! I ordered the stew served with rice instead of grits, and it had fragrant Cajun spices, deep seafood flavor, and a creamy roux. So delicious when warm. The fried shrimp on top were perfection too--juicy, plump shrimp!! EAT THE STEW WHEN IT'S STEAMING HOT AND FRESHLY POURED!! Also, get the iced tea. Like genuinely, it was so good. Better than an Arnold Palmer and better than any sweet tea I've ever had. Sweet but perfectly balanced with lemon, and it tasted so fresh. Gosh, I miss it already. I definitely wanted to order their famous brown bourbon bread pudding, but I needed a little sugar break after pastries in the morning lol. I will be back, and I will conquer that bread pudding. Believe me!!!!

Perfect. Service was exceptional--we were catered to and that enticed us to buy. Everything was delicious. I had never had bread pudding but wow was there's the perfect pairing with gumbo/et tuffe. I'm not sure if other bread pudding is this good but I know I love theirs here! The tea and lemonade was tasty. The pink, packaging, premade products, booth design, & owner story are all so attractive. So glad this was my first restaurant experience at Union Market. Go, enjoy!!!

I only go to Union Market solely for Puddin! Their bread pudding is really good and pairs nicely with vanilla ice cream and comes in three sizes! I usually get the medium and eat half there and save the rest (which is so hard to do because it's really good!) I also went to New Orleans recently and unfortunately couldn't not find great spots to eat but this storefront in Union market makes really good etoufee and po'boy shrimp sandwiches! Next beignets! But service is always friendly and efficient!

Located inside Union Market. Everyone was super helpful and happy to answer my questions. They offer samples of most including the bread pudding. What a great idea. The best part is you can have more than one sample. I sampled the shrimp etouffee and bread puddin. The shrimp etouffee was very flavorful but a tad too spicy for me. The brown butter bourbon bread puddin was amazing. Of course, I ordered the bread pudding and a sweet tea. Both were delicious. You have to check them out.

The food influencers are correct. It's as good as they stated. The shrimp po boy is pure perfection. The shrimp is fried nice and crispy. The cole slaw is freshly made. The sandwich is a true Nawlins staple. The lemon iced tea is tasty. Service is good southern hospitality which you cannot beat.

Washington DC (NoMA) - located inside Union Market, Puddin' serves up a choice curation of Southern comfort food and Cajun/Creole classics like gumbo, étouffée, po'boy, red beans & rice, and more, mostly shrimp forward. This is one of my favorite type of cuisines and I tried a shrimp étouffée which is very good; a touch too salty though nicely spiced. But lemme tell ya, the brown butter bourbon bread puddin' is totally KILLER! So sinfully good and possibly the best bread pudding I've had. Whatever you get, don't leave without having their signature puddin'!

Whenever we come to Union market, we make sure to get bread pudding from Puddin'. We get it with ice cream and it is absolutely decadent. We would highly recommend saving space for dessert if you're in the location.

Visiting DC and a friend brought us to Union Market. She recommended Puddin to us out of all of the different restaurants there. I went to the cashier and placed my order and received it in minutes! I ordered the red beans & rice and it was amazing OMG. Perfect amount of seasoning, flavor and portion. I believe I paid like $15 for it which isn't bad at all! My sisters ordered the sweet tea and said it was 10/10. Whenever I am in the DC area I will definitely be back. Good service, good food. No complaints

Small Brown Butter Bourbon Bread Puddin'

Stopped into Union Market after visiting a few art exhibits in the area. I have heard great things about this place and wanted to give it a try. I ordered the gumbo with shrimp and a small bourbon bread pudding. The gumbo was good. The shrimp were big. The bread pudding was good I am glad I got the ice cream to go along with it to balance the flavor of the bourbon.

Because I've not found real Louisiana boudin anywhere else in the DC area, and because of the family's hospitality, I will give them 4 stars. The Jambalaya Shack is a catering business that was present at this past weekend's Breaux Vineyards Cajun Festival. They're from southern Louisiana, and seem to get invited to cater many of their events. They had jambalaya, corn maque choux, and boudin links. Because I was waiting on live boiled crawfish from another vendor, I decided to just share a link of boudin for $5. Their young boy said after I ordered, "Sure! You have to ring the boudin bell!" So I did, while his mother laughed and wrapped up a link for me. She made sure I knew how to eat it (I did), and I asked her if it was spicy or not (she said not at all...probably due to the DC clientele...but that they were good and that they shipped them straight from Louisiana). They also had an assortment of mild Cajun seasonings and hot sauces. It was not the best boudin I've ever had (that one goes to the Boudin King in Louisiana), but it was slightly better than the boudin I can get at the grocery store in Texas (but bigger). The Jambalaya Shack's also had good amounts of little liver pieces in it. I wish I had had hotter seasonings (cayenne chile powder would have been awesome) to spice it up with... I wish I had also tried their namesake jambalaya, but it was the chicken/sausage variety and other than the boudin, I was in the mood for seafood. I do think I was the only person I saw at the festival that tried the boudin (or probably knew what it was). Speaking of seafood, the other caterer's boiled crawfish was bland, and Jambalaya Shack was nice enough to let us have some of their seasonings. They saved the day.
