I ordered a Jerk Chicken bowl with Lo Mein noodles, and a few veggie toppings. The plantain was too overcooked on the outside, and slightly undercooked on the inside. So whomever cooked it, the heat was up too high because it blackened the plantain too fast. They should be golden, not charred. The Mac and cheese was absolutely phenomenal. I like The Angry Jerk, especially for a quick meal in the DuPont Area. It's basically a Chipotle-style build your own bowl, with Jamaican food. I have gotten both the jerk chicken as well as the curry chicken - both are tasty. Each bowl comes with 5-ish toppings of your own choosing, and there's a wide variety to choose from. I tend to get the cabbage, plantains, and cauliflower. Oh and they're not messing around with their sauces - all of the Angry sauces are actually HOT. I work in the area and walk past it almost every day. The first time I tried the curry chicken bowl with rice and peas and slaw. I was not really impressed with the curry chicken. A week later our suite neighbors ordered catering from Angry Jerk and they had the jerk chicken and lo mein. I was able to try it again... and this time it was GOOD! lol! I've had really good experiences with Angry Jerk so far. I really enjoy the bowls, as the portion is large and you get a lot of toppings. The jerk chicken is good, but on the sweeter side and not that spicy. The brown stew chicken is good as well. The Mac and cheese is very tasty, but also very oily. There's a large amount of oil that separates once it starts to cool, which is a little off-putting. The fried rice is pretty basic, but good, however, the rice and peas are bland. I opted in for rice and peas (tasty, but a little wet) Being Caribbean when I say that the rice is wet, it means that it's mushy. We normally like our rice and peas grainy or dried well lol but I guess this works. It did still pack a lot of taste. The protein choice was jerk chicken which was diced and I was able to top it with jerk mambo sauce (very delicious) the jerk chicken was not spicy at all but perfectly seasoned and contained a good serving size.
