    Hakka Pork Ribs
    Kai M.

Celebrating Black History Month by supporting Black owned businesses! Join me! UberEats review Black owned Caribbean fusion cuisine I've been to Cane countless of times and each time I love whatever I order. Cane is that good Trini cuisine prepared with a twist so don't get upset if it's not your regular style of cooking, I enjoy their creative spin. Ordered through UberEats, the dish came packaged well and was nice and warm upon arrival. I ordered a few items: Hakka pork ribs with a side of coconut rice Trini beef pies with a side of cilantro (chando beni) sauce Both dishes were AMAZING! Let me break it down so you understand why I love this place. The Hakka pork ribs isn't your typical ribs, it has an authentic level of herbs and spices on it which provided just enough Caribbean flavors. It was topped with picked cucumber and peppers-all of which I ate! To accompany the dish, they added a side of their delicious coconut rice and honestly, that could have been eaten by itself because there is something sweet and savory about it lol I'm serious! I actually eat it without anything several times. They added a sauce for the ribs and I must say that it gave the dish a sprinkle of love. Overall, this was incredible! Next, not pictured, the Trini beef pies reminded me of the pies that I enjoyed in Trinidad. The flavors in the ground beef were nicely contained by a chewy fried dough on the outside. Topped with some cilantro sauce, I swear I could eat this for breakfast lol talk about love at first bite! Overall, Cane did not disappoint. I enjoy their meals and will gladly support again.

The food was fantastic. So flavorful and reasonably salted! We ordered the jerk wings, oxtail, and the pork ribs w/ a side of all the sauces (highly recommend) fried plantains, Pelau (Trini Rice & Peas), the coconut cream flan, and the bread pudding. The meat was super tender, literally fell off the bones. The Pelau rice was so flavorful, savory and lightly sweet! A MUSTTTTTTT! Make reservations. They were busy! The staff were really friendly. I loved it here!

This is the best Roti I've had!!!! This is better than the roti I get in brooklyn. Came to DC to visit. Picked up some on the go not realizing it was an actual sit down restaurant and it was pretty tasty. The green sauce that comes with it was a perfect addition. Sooo good. 10/10

Wow I'm so glad my friend's and I plans changed. We originally were supposed to go somewhere else but they closed early. So we arrived here on a whim and they did not disappoint! I got the red snapper fish and my friend got the oxtail. Everything tasted absolutely amazing. Even my sorrel was delicious. The customer service was on point. Our server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean, quaint, and fit the vibe of the Trini food perfectly. I absolutely will be coming back.

Delicious!!! We ordered the jerk wings (9/10 so so good - doesn't really taste like jerk chicken but they were amazing). Hops were just basic bread rolls (prob would skip this and try a different app). For main we got the beef omnivore plate which was so so tender and flavorful. Service was a little slow for how small the place was. Also the food didn't come out super hot either. But, it was so flavorful and delicious we didn't mind. Def would come back to try other dishes !

I try to come here every chance I get and especially when I'm in that area. They never disappoint. The servers are all so nice and helpful. The good comes out quick enough and is always fresh and hot! I truly think I'm addicted to the sorrel at this spot, it's so good. Love the oxtail and jerk wings. There's also something very special about their coconut rice. I've never had a bad item on the menu. It's a small spot but never feels too crowded. Gives a nice relaxed but classy feel.

This place is about comfort food! I don't know everything about Trinidad food but everything here is exactly what you want from a little restaurant. Service is good but can be a tad slow when busy. Very friendly. Ambience is causal that works both for dates and family with kids. Good vibes. Food highlights: Get the fried cabbage! Nicely seasoned Oxtail is yummy , again well seasoned. Paired super well with the plau rice. The roll can be skipped even though the flavor butter was good. Save it for other food. Get fried plantain if you like plantain. Dessert is ok. Got the flan. Very well priced but if you are dessert connoisseur, then you will need to find a spot after dinner. However, I am happy with the flan.

Small spot, BIG flavor. Cane in DC brings real Trini vibes, curry, roti, and Trini-style Chinese food. Everything is seasoned right and the customer service is top-tier. Cozy place, huge taste.

If you love West Indian cuisine, Cane is definitely the spot! Their menu is inclusive, with plenty of tasty vegetarian options to choose from. I went with a few friends after work for happy hour, and it was pretty chill at first, just us until around 7 p.m., when the crowd started rolling in. Like many DC spots, it's on the smaller side, so it can fill up fast. Now, the food: the Hops and pork belly were my absolute favorites, though honestly, everything we tried was delicious. The drinks were great too, some of my friends said they were strong, but I think they were just right .

Had lunch with an old childhood friend and the place has a great location on H Street. The food on the lunch menu is nicely portioned. I had the Trini-Chinese Chicken bowl with their Trini-Style Eggplant pie. The sauce that comes with the eggplant pie is a great match but beware! It has a spicy kick! My friend had the Curried Chicken Bowl he said it was good. Our server was attentive and was ready to answer questions about the dishes since this was a first time visit. I really liked the items on the menu and the restaurant space was nicely laid out. There was no wasted space and the music was low and not too loud. A great space for lunch.

Solid 3.8 Order: Sorrell-5/5 Limeade3/5 ( a little to sour) Trini Pie 5/5 Jerk Wings 3/5- very tender and juicy- lack of jerk flavor Cabbage- was way to crunchy today Rice & Peas- was more like fried rice Pepper Pot- consistent and like all the other times. I feel I need to update my review from 3 months ago. I really like this place but my biggest issue with this restaurant is lack of consistency. Some days it's on point and some its so far off.

Dhalpuri Roti with chicken and potatoes
    Michael R.

Stopped by Cane's for lunch with a friend and had a really great time. The space is small and welcoming with lots of natural light that makes it feel open. I would definitely recommend making a reservation since it can fill up quickly. Luckily, when we got there, we had the place to ourselves which is always a plus! I had the Dhalpuri Roti with curried chicken and potatoes, and enjoyed every bite. It was full of flavor and filling so much that I had to take half of it to go. I also had the jerk wings and they were fall off the bone good. I really enjoyed my time at Canes and I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu.

Excellent Caribbean cuisine, and outstanding service. This casual lunch experience definitely hit the spot! In Miami, the only Trinidadian Cuisine available are Roti shops. Miami does not explore the vast variety of Trinidadian cuisine. It was nice to see roti, curry, pelau, stews, calalloo, and so much more on the menu! I was excited to try the food. We tried the oxtail with pelau, Trini style chinese chicken and coconut white rice, and a beef pie for appetizer. Everything was amazing! I enjoyed the service. I was delighted by the quality of ingredients and authentic flavors. It did not disappoint! I definitely can't wait to visit DC again, this restaurant will be first on my list!

I mean there was only another couple at the time I visited but also the food came out quickly so huge plus! And the restaurant is spacious and casual so enough space for large parties. Overall I enjoyed it but there are a couple things that fell short! I ordered the chicken roti platter. 1.The roti! It's a very small portion served in a small coconut shaped bowl compared to the amount of food you got on the platter. I thought more was coming and unfortunately it was balled up in shredded little pieces that were kind of dry and i couldn't eat it properly with my sides. I thought maybe I had a bad batch but my friend had the same portion and complaint. Unfortunately no pic of that. 2: Honestly the plating is meant to be aesthetically pleasing but it was very hard to eat bone-in chicken out of a bowl on a saucer full of more bowls with a knife and fork. It was better when I took it to go and had a plate at home. Please reconsider this for the diners experience. 3. The doubles was my fave! It's a small app but very delicious and had a slight kick to it.

Start with the Aloo and Channa pies and crab accras, order a cocktail early, and do not be surprised if your server is already one step ahead of you. We let Tim lead, which was the right decision. Not just knowledgeable, intuitive. The kind of service where you feel guided, not managed. He brought extra garlic aioli before we asked, we laughed, because he was absolutely right. That set the tone. The Aloo and Channa pies came out crisp and golden, with a filling that was warm, spiced, and balanced. Not heavy, not trying to prove anything, just well executed. The crab accras followed, light, clean fry, no grease, which matters. The sauces did their job. Each one added something instead of just sitting there looking pretty. Cocktails held their own. The West Indian Old Fashioned had depth without getting muddy. The Savannah was bright and easy in the best way. Together, they framed the food instead of competing with it. Then the Bake & Fish sandwiches. Solid on their own, but Tim brought lemon slices without prompting, and that was the move. That little hit of acid sharpened everything. Same intuition, twice. That's not luck. The kitchen shows restraint, which is where the confidence lives. This isn't "let's throw spice at it and call it Caribbean." The flavor is intentional, layered, and controlled. You can taste the difference. The only thing to know, the energy builds. What starts as dinner leans toward lounge as the night goes on. If you want quiet, time it right. If you want atmosphere, you're exactly where you should be. We will definitely be back.

The staff are always very attentive and pleasant and the service generally timely. I decided to go with the steak and eggs combo which came with breakfast potatoes. The items overall were delicious, the ribeye was perfectly cooked and the potatoes well-seasoned. They also host a variety of themed events throughout the week like their Tuesday karoake nights so definitely check them out whenever you're in the area and in need of a good meal and even better vibes!
