Really great service and delicious empanadas. I actually preferred the chicken. It was really fast but it seemed like items were made to order. The staff were super nice. I was here for an early dinner on a weekday but I think it would be great to try their roast chicken and whiskey next time.

New to the area I found Chicken +Whiskey on a food delivery app. I love Peruvian food so I had to give them a try. I ordered the half chicken dark, half bean & rice and sweet plantains. I also ordered a Inka Kola. At first glance I was surprised at the portion. There were two pieces of chicken on a bed of 1/3 c of rice. I was like this can't be all the rice. Then when I looked in the bag the bowl with beans also had rice in it. Odd packaging but I guess altogether it was about a cup of rice. Then the sweet plantains were packaged separately. The chicken was way too salty and the rice and beans had no salt. The sweet plantains were not completely cooked. I was saddened because Peruvian food is always a hit for me and with the high ratings I expected good things. Perhaps it was an off night. There were no utensils in the bag which to me was a missed opportunity to make a good impression. Considering the food was being delivered to a hotel and folks usually need utensils away from home. On the fence about if I would order from here again, but if I did, I would probably go in person instead of ordering through a food app.

One of those spots I never skip when I'm in DC. Their pollo a la brasa is absolutely the best in the country--juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time. My go-to sides are the yuca fritas and sweet plantains, both so delicious. They offer other sides like arroz chaufa, veggies, beans, etc Prices? Unbeatable Besides their rotisserie chicken (peruvian - venezuelan style), they also serve up wraps, salads, arepas, and more--plenty of options if you're craving something different. Big shoutout to the crew at the counter--your energy and customer service are always beyond special. You guys make the experience even better. Pro tip: Don't miss the hidden bar behind the back doors--it's a whole vibe and 100% worth checking out- also great drinks

Got there Sunday night around 7pm after it had started to snow and it was comfy. Solid roasted chicken, yucca fries and plantains for sides. They were out of the roasted vegetables. also tried their chicken empanadas which was mostly potatoes than chicken but still tasty. When I went to order some churros just after 8pm, they had decided to close down the kitchen early for staff meals. Was kind of annoyed as I see the hours posted on yelp to be till 11pm. Wasn't in the mood to try out the speak easy in the back.

Great Peruvian food I will definitely be back. Customer service was ok and I do like the area it's located. Check it out!

Love this place for their chicken! The meal can relatively be healthy and there is indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a pretty good happy hour special. The service is great. You can order your food in a line or from a bartender and they will bring it to you. It is pretty quick since most of the chicken and sides are made. The decor is what you'd expect from a rotisserie chicken place.

This is our go to spot for casual dining with a group of friends. We often go here for dinner and get their combo meal. It used to be $50 but they have increased the price to $60. It's still worth it. They give you two whole roasted chicken ( very tender and flavorful) with 4 sides. Highly recommend the Yuka fries, rice and roasted veggies. Doughnuts are good as well. It also comes with soda. It's good portion for 4 people. It's self serve kinda place.

This place is the epitome of a mullet - business in the front and party in the back. I dropped by Chicken + Whiskey on a early Saturday evening to meet a few acquaintances. While visiting the boy's room, I noticed a bar in the back of the restaurant. Clearly, I missed the big sign on the wall in the restaurant saying "Whiskey in the back". ;) Since I arrived a bit early for my meetup, I decided to check out the bar...Also, I was quite excited to have an adult beverage while waiting for my acquaintances. I'll say that I loved both the chicken and whiskey components of Chicken + Whiskey. I think this is the perfect business model, because you can party in the bar and grab a bite to eat before or afterwards. Whiskey: The bar component has a MASSIVE selection of whiskey options, which is to be expected from the + Whiskey. Also, it has a nice mix of various cocktails, so I think everyone can find something that they will like. For my tasting pleasure, I went with "I can buy myself flowers" (of course I ordered it how Miley Cyrus sings it) and a standard Manhattan on the rocks. Both drinks were delicious although gin-based beverage (I can buy myself flowers) was a bit too sweet for my liking. My bartender (a woman with brownish/reddish hair) was absolutely amazing. Chicken: The restaurant component is a typical Peruvian rotisserie chicken operation with plenty of chicken and side options. For my meal, I went with 1/4 white chicken with two sides (mac n queso and fried rice). The chicken was very delicious with oh so juicy meat. The mac n queso was just ok, but the fried rice (arroz chufa) was amazing especially with the bits of bacon mixed in. The meal was about $14, which I thought was reasonable. Since I did not get enough gin and whiskey from the whiskey bar, I decided to wash my meal down with a can of a hazy IPA. The can of beer was $9, which I thought was a little pricey. But, it is what it is, I guess. Overall, I definitely will love to visit Chicken + Whiskey again, especially the Whiskey part, because I really would like to try more of their cocktails. One note: While you can take your beverages from the Whiskey part to the Chicken part, it is HIGHLY recommended (actually, it might be a rule) that you do not bring food from the Chicken part to the Whiskey part. If you want bites while in the Whiskey part, you can over food from the bar's menu.

After going to a concert in the neighborhood, we were looking for some food to fill our bellies. After checking out a few eateries, we settled on Chicken and Whisky, a Peruvian place, as the roast chicken looked really inviting. The first impression was good. The shop was decorated with bright colors and an open kitchen. All of the staff were young men who were in good spirits and very friendly. We shared the 1/2 chicken with two sides combo and selected the Yuca fries and sweet plantains. We also shared a can of Brazliian Guarana-flavored soda. My husband also tried a pork belly arepa. We must have been hungry because we devoured the food in just a few minutes. That's how good everything was. The chicken was roasted to perfection, even the breast was tender and juicy. The yuca fries were big and crispy and the plantains were nice and charred, but not overly sweet. Needlessly to say we were very impressed with the food and wish we have a Chicken and Whisky near home. If you are in the neighborhood and want some delicious Peruvian roast chicken, definitely give Chicken and Whisky a try.

This is a delicious bargain, especially if you get the family pack meal for 4 people. 2 whole chickens, 4 sides, 6 churros, 4 soft drinks, $50.00. That's 12.50 a person, plus tax and tip. It's simple, basic and delicious. It's takeout style, but you can sit inside or outside. Great location. Helpful staff. What more do you want?

Perfectly fried and sauces were so good. Yellow curry rockfish - 9.5/10. I love that they arent afraid to actually use curry! The tenderloin was so tender too!! And the taro cake very interesting, in a good way. A true stand out was the guava cheesecake - absolutely incredible and nothing like you'd think it would be. I love it when restaurants are super creative with food and the play on flavors were top tier during this meail. We also ordered a bottle of the Chilean sauvignon blanc, which paired perfectly with the food and stood on its own with the tenderloin. They also refilled our waters constantly! In terms of food: - we did partake in drinks: I had the passion over perfection and my gf had the pina colada. I will say her pina colada tasted more like pineapple juice than anything else. I enjoyed my drink though. - we were recommended by our waiter to get around 4-6 dishes depending on how hungry we were. We opted for 7R ceviche, cheese arepitas, Latin falafel, and seafood jalea. I will say everything tasted so freaking good (with the exception of the falafel because they were on the drier side) but those portion sizes i would expect a little more for pricing - I will also add a side note they were providing sampling of a pumpkin soup. Did j like it? No. Did i appreciate it the ability to say i tasted it and didn't have to pay for it? Yes - we also were greedy and went in for desserts: banana bomb and chocolate and Ron. The banana bomb SOOOOO good! The chocolate and ron was more on the forgettable side. Despite the portions, the food was so good I'd come back in a heartbeat. I would love to see the seasonal things they come up with!

I'll hit the highlights first, as there are too many to detail at length: the delightful amuse bouche (corn tart!), the cocktails that may be the best in DC, the completely original cold vongole and stroganoff, wagyu that melts in your mouth, and service at par with Pineapple and Pearls and Inn at Little Washington. The team is clearly pushing for two stars, which is delightful, so I wanted to write with a few notes that may help them along. 1) As other reviewers have noted, the experience is tarnished slightly by its length and pacing. Particularly annoying was the wait until 720 for a late party. You've gotta figure out how to catch them up so that the rest of us aren't waiting 20 min for bread. And with a 7p start, it's not ok for us to be getting home at 11:15. I love all the major dishes and would be sad to see any go, but you've gotta have either tighter pacing or larger portions and fewer plates through the mains. 2) Gotta start on a better note. The sourdough bread was cold and tough. If I were a Michelin reviewer, that starting note alone would keep you out of two stars because it just begged the question, "did anyone try this?" 3) Relatedly, the desserts are impenetrably academic. The pumpkin and selva negra both taste like a good idea that someone then overthought and kept editing/adding until it just didn't taste good. I get the push for stardom, but in both cases, we would've all preferred a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream. Stop overthinking it. None of us finished either of them. Everyone's favorite was the simple sorbet. Why harp on these minor quibbles given how mindblowingly awesome the overall experience was? Well, they are pushing for two stars, and the meal costs $400 per person all in. At this level, the bar is continuous improvement toward excellence. I really hope they get there!

Sea bream - Fresh and delicious. The included tostada is very crispy so it's a multi-sensory experience to taste the food and hear the crunch in your ears. Lamb Terrine - Lamb was fine, tasted like pulled lamb in a block. The flavor was mostly in the sauce and that flavor was "salty". Tagliatelle - Also fine, the truffle doesn't over power.
