Fantastic food and service. Table for one outside on a busy Friday evening? No problem. Chips, salsa and water almost as soon as I sat down. Friendly and attentive server. I sat outside but look forward to coming back for the rooftop. The best part was the ceviche tropical - served with talapia, mango, avocado, sweet potato and peppers. It was so good I'll probably have it as an entree next time. The portions were also very generous and the prices were fair.

It was really amazing. My parents love coming here and I am just visiting so they bring me here since it's just the place to get yummy food. It didn't disappoint at all! Thankful for Mikaela!

I went to Lauriol Plaza on a Wednesday evening. Ever since some changes in the area, I've noticed the restaurant has gone downhill. I ordered a chicken fajita, and unlike usual, it came cold with no sizzle from the skillet. Normally, even if it's crowded or not, food comes out hot and fresh. I also noticed a lot of orders were messed up that night. Another table even received beef when someone was allergic to it. but it was all the tables with the skin tone as me. (if you know, you know) The ones that had different skin tone, food came out with no problem . I've spent a lot of money here over the years, but this experience was disappointing. I will not be going back anytime soon. I hope the restaurant can get back to the quality and service it used to have.

I went to this restaurant for a celebration and my expectations wasn't met. The service was good but I was expecting better, compared to my first visit here which was a few years ago. Let's start with we picked indoor seating because it was kinda cold outside, will definitely visit again in the summer and pick outside seating, my experience a few years ago outside was excellent. I chose the filet mignon ask for it to be cooked medium well with shrimp. The food was good but my steak was pink and the bacon wrapped around it was not done at all.I actually had to take the filet home, and put it back in the oven to my liking. I enjoyed the drinks I ordered Cadillac Margarita. The inside is dark and a few of us did not like how dark it was . The atmosphere is nice, I will return in the summer and sit outside for a different vibe. Overall I give it a 3, staff could have been more attentive and aware that when we initially made reservations, we stated upfront, this was a celebration.

I hadn't been here in years since this most recent visit but the nostalgia was overwhelming and I finally made it back with a crew of friends who also hadn't been to this place in years. The interior ambiance is still exactly the same which doesn't feel particularly dated but it also doesn't give that current DC vibe (whether that's a good or bad thing, I'll leave that to others to assess). The food is still good and the service is kind of classic and that is also good thing. I'll support them as long as they exist. I'm glad they're still around.

Skinny margarita and tacos were top tier! Very basic looking, but packed with flavor. Upon receiving the taco platter, I was concerned it may not be enough, but the meal was very filling. Went on a Friday evening and there was no wait. I've heard that there is usually a line, but the outdoor area was filled when we left. My only suggestion would be to have mosquito control for the outdoor area (citronella candles/torches). Other than the mosquitos this was a great place! I'll be back to try more of the menu.

I feel like you really can't go wrong with Lauriol Plaza. We came like 45 minutes before they close, and we still got great food and great service on a Sunday night. It was my second time here, and honestly, I haven't been disappointed either time. I feel like the service is usually pretty quick, and the food is good. I randomly tried the stuffed salmon this time around and it was super good. We also got the guacamole and ceviche, both which were very good. The ambience inside is a hodgepodge. You see some people super dressed up and you see other people in sweatpants. It is what it is. What I appreciate most is that they have Miami Vice's, so it reminded me of Vacation. I can't wait to come back.

Food is delicious! We had Mussels as appetizer. Beef Fajitas, Lamb Fajitas and Carne Asada. Everything is delicious! Service was an issue because their credit card system wasn't working. So we're here waiting for them to figure it out...

After an amazing tour of the art inside the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, we continued our date night at Lauriol Plaza. I love the architecture inside the restaurant. The dim lighting and large windows served as the perfect backdrop to our evening. Our waitress Abenet was great. She immediately came over with chips and salsa and took our drink order. I moldy say that the salsa is super spicy and was served warm which kind of threw me off. I love spicy foods but it was almost too spicy. We ordered the steak and chicken fajitas, the chicken and steak street tacos which came with a serving of beans and rice. We shared a half pitcher of red sangria. We enjoyed the fajitas and the chicken taco. The steak was flavorful but really chewy. The beans and rice were delicious as well. There are some small tweaks that are needed to take Lauriol Plaza to the next level but overall we enjoyed our experience.

We had reservations but we had to wait 20 minutes if we wanted to sit inside. If we wanted to sit outside, we didn't have to wait. I didn't want to wait 20 minutes so we opted for sit outside. It was a humid day so we ordered a pitcher of margaritas. The waiter gave us nachos and salsa. I thought the nachos were salty! I ordered the crab and shrimp enchiladas and it was decent. The food was decent but the service was okay. We were outside so the ambiance was like being in a neighborhood restaurant.

First time here, on a Monday evening. Street parking, if you're lucky. We found parking just fine outfront. Tables were a little close together for my comfort. House Margarita was good I got the carne asad entree. The plate itself came out Sizzzling, but the food was too greasy for me. Rice was bland. Overall, I had 1 wrap with some of the fixings and left hungry

The menu looks mouthwatering but the meal was too disappointing to bring me back. Ambiance: 4/5 From the outside to the inside, lots of seating, beautiful decor, excellent mood lighting, and multiple floors. However the proximity between neighboring tables is so close it feels like you're sharing it with strangers. I recommend spacing things out more, especially given the massive amount of real estate available. Food: 3/5 Mediocre at best. The lower quality ingredients used in each item I ordered was noticeable and although I hate wasting food, I couldn't bring myself to finish the meal. The plantains were oversaturated with oil and soggy throughout the bite, queso tasted like it was a jar of Tostitos slightly zhuzhed with green peppers, quesadillas were overloaded with cheese and underloaded with low shelf chicken bites, and the fish tacos with rice and beans were simply bland. I've had identical meals from local food trucks that were exponentially better. Service: 5/5 Friendly staff Overall: 3/5 I won't be returning. However, I see how the ambiance is enough to continuously draw in a crowd.

The food here is great. Very large portions, and of course complimentary chips and salsa. Multiple flavors of frozen margaritas as well as on the rocks, beers, and na drinks. There are vegetarian options but not a lot for vegans except salads. Service is excellent. No pressure to rush to order or clear your table. The location is fairly convenient to a number of downtown neighborhoods, but it's also not too hard to find street parking. Inside there are huge windows, and there's also outdoor dining space. You may need to wait for a table on a nice summer evening.

When we moved to D.C. in 1989 Lauriol Plaza was a favorite neighborhood restaurant. After 32 years there is still just this location. So, my guess is no!

The restaurant was packed. So for sure get a reservation if you can. First things first, the restaurant is beautiful. The art, the menus, the ambiance. Just a really great hangout spot. Our server was really knowledgeable and friendly. As for the food , unfortunately, i didn't have anything that blew me away. My mini hamburger/Ibérico de bellota mini hamburguesa was actually my favorite item. Very juicy and flavorful. Though $13.00 for one slider was a bit much. My least favorite was the rabbit confit with apricot puree/Conejo en salmorejo con puré de albaricoques. I was excited about this because I can't recall the last time I've ever had rabbit but I think it was the texture of the puree that took away from the dish. Coming in at the middle was the seafood paella. I know it's one of the restaurants headlining menu items but I found the seasoning inconsistent. The rice seemed a bit salty and the shrimp was pretty bland. Combining it to balance it out didn't yield the flavor I was hoping for. Weirdly enough, if I went back and the table ordered it again, I definitely wouldn't mind but probably wouldn't get it myself unless my companions were interested. All in all, I'm not opposed to trying other items on the menu should I know anyone who would like to visit though I can't say it hooked me enough for me to go on my own accord

The mushroom croquettes and fried eggplant were especially enjoyable. The patatas bravas and paella, however, were just okay. The paella in particular was quite mushy and lacked depth of flavor. The complimentary birthday dessert was a thoughtful touch and tasted great. While I'm not sure this will become a regular spot for me, since I personally prefer tapas restaurants like Boqueria or Barcelona Wine Bar, I still had a very enjoyable experience overall.

Atxondo really strikes me as an underrated gem. A little spicy, overall good quality but I do think they put a bit too much oil which made it have an extra oil taste 2.5/5 Middle - like prosciutto this is the best one! Not dry at all in any area and not too salty 3.75/5 Right - least favorite but it is still good overall. Taste a little less yummy than the one on the right even though the one on the right is too oily 2/5 Queso Mahon - rich and cheesy. Not too sticky and very soft. I like the little fruit it comes with too 3/5 Seared scallop - usually squid in rice I feel like is just color but this one was super savory and delicious with a unique taste too that I'm thinking must be from the ink! It's made super well and the crispy sear on the scallop adds so much flavor but also the scallop was not overcooked at all, super bouncy and tender. 4.5/5 Spanish risotto - very moist and yummy! Even though it's just vegetables it's made well 3.75/5 Crispy pork belly - falls apart and very tender. Not dry at all! Unfortunately too salty though. Also very heavy. Meat too salty but veggies it came with like potato that soaks up the flavor was like inedible too salty 2/5 Seafood paella - I think it came out a bit faster than 40 minutes but I didn't keep track. Large serving size! Wish there was more seafood but lots of rice! Very moist and flavorful rice, seafood flavor comes through too! Wish they cooked it longer though since bottom is not crispy at all. Shrimp is overcooked unfortunately but individually seasoned. All the squids and octopus don't have much flavor but cooked well and not chewy at all. Mussels were good too but had some weird webbing on some pieces that made me not want to eat it and size is a bit small. Needs more seafood to balance the rice amount 4.25/5 Crimini mushroom - weird with the poached egg especially since there's a bunch of mushroom liquid below that I think would mix weirdly together. But ignoring that, the mushrooms themselves were very flavorful and actually taste really great with paella! 3.75/5 Basque cheesecake - very heavy and dense. Jam is not too sweet which is nice 1.5/5 Churros - very airy and light inside! The fried part is more than double the inside though so wish that was a little less thick so it can be a little less oily but still overall light. Came very warm and the dipping sauces were very liquidy. Chocolate is on the darker side which is a nice match 3/5

The dark warm mood lighting, the corrugated wall, the intimate seating, and of course the small share plates makes for the sexy experience tapas is suppose to be! It is typical of Spanish flavors, heavily relying on high-end cured meats and cheeses, and classics such as croquetas. There is something very special that goes into tapas because its suppose to satisfy you based on good taste over quantity. Large shrimp in a generous skillet of olive oil and slow cooked garlic slices and a iberico mac and cheese are some examples of how they elevate classics we are familiar with. We really liked that they learned into garlic and spice. We found dried Aji Caballero in our meal, great attention to source country. They have a very robust and generous drinks menu. Loved watching others not dining alone and embracing that share quality of the menu design. Perhaps it is not the best tapas I had, I would have liked to see a balance with lighter citrus flavors but maybe that was an ordering issue. Labneh: 5/5, delicious, served with plenty of pita Patatas bravas: 5/5, with great flavor and crispy roasted potatoes Mussels: 4/5, generous portion size, and the sauce was very good but I wished the sauce was more white wine-based Tuna crudo: 5/5, not a ton of food but the flavor was absolutely delicious, very citrusy and fresh Labneh cheesecake: 4/5, served with a sauce that was a bit like cough syrup but otherwise absolutely delicious

We sat outside on the patio and it was a gorgeous day. The decor is perfect and I love that they've added plants to cover the staircase. Drinks were delicious and the food came out quickly. Our water glasses were rarely empty. Service was kind. Food wise if I were to stack rank I would say the hummus is the best of what we ordered. The pita bread is thick and garlicky and oily and massive. The croquettes would be at the bottom of my list simply because they're dissimilar from any I've had before and a little bit underwhelming. The tuna was fresh but it's a small dish and not much to write home about. The lamb skewers have a subtle kick to them and they're pretty substantial. I'll definitely be back to try more! Highly recommend on a warm summer day as you're covered by the canopy above, if you're looking for a rooftop vibe.
