Phase II Cinco Demayo
Lawrence G.

We decided to do our Cinco Demayo celebrations early to beat the large crowds. Figured we would bar/restaurant hop in the DC area. Mi Vida was our last stop and we were not disappointed. We had a reservation, however we arrived early and the bar had seating and was generally open. We sat down ordered food/appetizers and drinks and WoW. We had the guacamole with crab, shrimp, bell pepper ( opted out of the halopina). Absolutely fantastic. Pick a tequila and I am sure they have it. Full Bar with good variety of cocktails. If you make it to DC, do stop in ....we were not disappointed. The vibe was casual and very relaxed.

Decided to dine here while absorbing the sunny day. Reservation was made, we arrived a few minutes early and was able to get seated outside. The sun was definitely shining. There were umbrellas out for certain tables to shelter from some of the sun. After awhile employees came by and lowered the shade that assisted with the sun. We ordered our spirited drinks, chips and guacamole, and tacos. Drinks came and the one was very pretty in a fish designed glass. The chips and guac came out reason time followed by our tacos. The tacos and drinks to me were a waste of money spent. The steak taco was filled with plenty of meat but lacked the onions and cilantro that was suppose to be a part of the taco. It came meat and tortilla. The fish taco was tiny and greasy; literally 2 bites. The drink was not a hit either. This will be a one time visit unfortunately. Money wasted.

I went here to have brunch with my coworkers. We were going to the music festival, which would be held by the water, and one of my friends had never been to the Wharf before, so it was the perfect day. We had a blast!! This place is phenomenal. We sat upstairs by the window and indoors, and it was so cute. We were able to people-watch as the Wharf filled with people; service was great. Everyone was super, super nice, and the food was delicious. I got the burger to eat, and we ordered two pitchers of the poncha de lola, and oh my God, it was so so delicious. I definitely would come back to this place. I think I will bring my mom here for Mother's Day brunch or for her birthday. I am obsessed, and the location is prime.

Mi Vida is a Mexican restaurant with multiple locations throughout DC. I've been to this specific location multiple times and it's okay for what it is. I would say the food overall is decent and the service is good. It's just not great. The food lack seasoning, that traditional spice mixture and slightly kick found in Mexican food. It's a place I go to when other people recommend it, but it's not one I myself would go make it a note to go to. The restaurant ambiance is lovely and they have a nice outdoor seating section.

I went on a solo dinner date at Mi Vida on The Wharf Sat at the bar and simply enjoyed my own company. There's something so peaceful about taking your time and savoring the moment. I had the guajillo burger with the tastiest sweet potato fries so flavorful and perfectly cooked. Paired it with a piña colada to start. The deviled eggs had the perfect little kick of spice such a good appetizer. My second drink was a Palovera so good! For dessert, I had tres leches my favorite. And of course, I had to finish the night with an espresso martini. Beautiful ambiance, amazing service Jose was so attentive! and such a cozy vibe.

Able to grab a table without a reservation on a busy Sunday but the restaurant was busy so would probably recommend a reservation during high traffic times. Service was attentive but unable to make some minor allergy modifications to the guac. The food tasted fresh and had good flavor. Some items were spicier than expected but nothing crazy! Looks like a bunch of things on the menu to try with fun twists (like blue cheese and grapes in the guacamole)

Great food and great with allergies! Shanon, our server, was attentive and made our experience great! We came on a Tuesday for happy hour and got tacos, drinks, and shared the nachos. If you have an allergy they take your order, confirm it with the chef, and then come back to you with any concerns or modifications.

Other patrons who got nice tables after we were already seated.

Empty restaurant but sat us at closest table directly by server stand. Constant traffic by staff. Beware of a 20% gratuity built in to tab yet service was worth maybe 2%. Also, there were only two of us and receipt said gratuity added for groups of 5 or more.

Mi Vida had some of the best Mexican Fusion food I've had. They had a bunch of vegan options and everything we had was fresh and was delicious as well! I loved the margarita flight honestly they all tasted amazing and I loved the vegan beef empanadas as well. The enchilada I got was more like a Mexican pizza than an enchilada but the red sauce and the filling itself was so so good. The service was quick our waitress was incredibly helpful and the views were beautiful. I'll definitely be back!

I really enjoyed the ambiance here. The quesabirria was really flavorful. It's paired with pickled cauliflower and a sauce that has a bit of an aftertaste. I recommend queso for dipping. The carne asada was paired with a mushroom cream sauce - absolutely delicious w/a side of rice and beans. I also asked for a skinny margarita. Everything was on point. I'd visit again.

Birthday Desert

For years I've loved coming here! I want to give a 5 but it's a 4 to me now I always get the roasted chicken but when I went yesterday I was informed that dish was no longer on the menu. I settled for the chicken fajitas which looked incredible but were just okay so I was a little sad Over all the ambiance as well as the service in this place is fantastic. They brought me a little desert for my birthday which I thought was a 10/10. We left no crumbs

The food was amazing everything was delicious The service was great but the server and the management came and just had unusual remarks I really didn't appreciate it but overall I felt we were served good and the ambiance was amazing love the vibe here.

Enchiladas suizar
Lee Z.

The food was decent. The enchiladas were good. The Guacamole with shrimp and crab was a bit on the spicy heat side, but good. The de mole negro (beef enchiladas) we tasty, but we preferred the suizas. A much lighter flavor. Service was average. A casual atmosphere.

The server recommended some of her favorite apps to start with. Highly recommend the freshly made quac and hot salsa with the chips. So good. One of the best hot salsa in the city. For entrees I ordered the chicken fajita and my husband ordered the birria tacos. The tacos did not come with the sauce. We thought the birria tacos was suppose to come with the sauce. When we asked the server she said you have to order it separately. Well that's mostly why I am giving them 4 stars and also the chicken in my fajita was pretty dry. I had to dip it in the hot salsa to make it nice and juicy.

Fair sized joint with a smallish patio out front. Having perused the menu on the way, I was looking to try something just beyond "staple of cheap Mexican." Sadly, we were presented with brunch menus, so it was a breakfast burrito for me and the breakfast tacos for her. I was remarkably hungry, so the burrito was eaten (and quickly). But truth be told, it's standard Mexican fare made with breakfast ingredients. No more description necessary - you've had this before and you'll have it again. The service was marginally lackluster- if you're not in a big party, you might get shuffled down in prioritization (or at least I thought we were...once ready to leave I did the 'fidget with credit card' trick to get the staff to close us out. The reservations were full, but we were offered a seat either at the bar or outside. Luckily it was a beautiful day so we took a seat outside. They started us off with a sweet hibiscus flavored juice as a palate cleanser which was super refreshing. The left side of the menu had appetizers and shareables, while the right side had entrees. We ordered the short rib tacos, pork belly, wagyu empanadas, and seafood enchiladas. Everything had a beautiful bright orange sauce on it and made it look like it would be spicy but it wasn't! I think it's their signature guajillo sauce and it was VERY good, super creamy. Seafood enchiladas: This was my fav. Might have been because it was extremely hungry and it was my first bite. Definitely best when eaten warm, as the cheese is gooiest and the seafood inside is hot. I wasn't sure how the salad was going to be but it added a perfect refreshing and acidity to balance out the creamy sauce. Wagyu empanadas: Much gooey-er and cheesier than expected, but also a hit! Came with a decent amount of beef inside. Comes with the orange sauce and a chimichurri, which I think was a good idea because given how cheesy and creamy the filling already was, the chimichurri was a nice balance as well. Pork belly: Melts as soon as you cut into it. The Asian in me low key wanted a giant bowl of rice with this so that I could soak up all the sauce and veggies. Pretty fatty so if you're not a fan of that you might not like this. Short rib tacos: These were loaded, not with meat but with tons of crunchy topping (maybe fried carrots?) Could have done with slightly less crunch but overall still good. The orange sauce on the bottom had a peanuty flavor which I thought added a unique kick. Also, we were surprised at how quickly the food came out. We were in and out in under an hour. Our server Rebecca was also extremely nice. Will def be back if in the area. Highly recommend all around!

I never knew that just like a fortune cookie you could get a surprise when you order a burrito…read more I'm referring to the scallops and shrimp burrito. I ditched the scallops and told my server that I couldn't have dairy. Nowhere on the menu for this dish does it mention that they use a cream sauce for the scallops, which then says if you order this dish as is, you get cream. Since I ditched the scallops, it showed up with chopped up bits of shrimp and loaded with cheese on the top. I hate to inform them that cheese is in the dairy category. And cheese btw is not mentioned under the item although they do list other ingredient info. The manager or whoever the person walking around helping out asked if I wanted a salsa Verde sauce instead of the cheese. I accepted the offer and the burrito showed up with it to be honest the way the burrito is mentioned my take was going to be not a big burrito but more like a small plate of street taco size. Getting a refill of my ice tea was a challenge and our party of four had the same problem. This is not a d for the life of me how someone could think this is great Mexican food is not backed with actual facts especially if you have been out of the state or area and been to other Mexican restaurants. I didn't get the sense FWIW that at least from the flour tortillas angle they were made on site. Odd.
