I gave El Bebe's Tacos + Tequila a shot, but it didn't live up to the hype. The service was okay, nothing terrible but nothing memorable either. The real issue was the food. It was pretty disappointing overall and lacked the quality you would expect from a place at this price point. On top of that, the portions do not match what you are paying. For what you get, it just does not feel worth it. There are definitely better taco spots out there for the same or less money. Would not rush back.
A little hidden Mexican treat. From the outside, it's not obvious it's there. Fun vibe with delicious margaritas! I had a guava margarita and it was refreshing and not overly sweet. I'd absolutely order it again! I also tried the yuka fries and they were also really good. I was only there for a quick happy hour, but the food at the tables looked tasty.
Our waiter was great! We came in at lunch time on Friday I was excited because I saw they have a great happy hour on Fridays. This was my 1st visit. I had the burrito which was okay. Tasted like it had chocolate in the bean sauce, wasn't a fan but it was okay. We ordered nachos for the table, I really enjoyed them. I will definitely be back for happy hour.
El Bebe is my go to for nearly everything; takeout, happy hour, friends visiting or big group......I'm going to el Bebe. Even their chips are not run of the mill; seasoned with some sort of light paprika blend. Great choices of salsa a can't miss queso and fresh guac. Their happy hour is lively with great food and drink specials. If Tacos are your things the Tuesday Happy Hour is when they change it up for Taco Tuesday. Drinks are fun and on the stronger end. The major thing I appreciate here is they are able to tell me what is vegetarian friendly and not. The BEST part is they are willing to make substitutions and charge me less than the meat offerings.
After a long day of traveling from CA, we were hungry and ready for dinner. Just steps from our hotel in Navy Yard next to the Nationals stadium is this super cute and bumpin' place with exceptional service. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and yuce fries with an Atlas Pilsner (local brewery). The soup was super flavorful and hearty with a lot of chicken. I was surprised how large of a bowl it was. My spouse ordered the birria tacos and he thought they were above average (we come from East San Jose, where birria is everywhere). My kid loved the mashed black beans and rice. Highly recommend for happy hour for sweet deals and their Taco Tuesday special. It has romantic party vibes with great music and ambience lighting. It is great for groups or date night.
I've been to El Bebe a couple of times and believe it's always a mixed bag of what you're going to experience. The food typically ranges: standard items like the burritos and quesadillas are well done, but the birria is surprisingly flavorless. Some foods are also overprotective, especially the $11 corn dip that's just cold items mixed in a little bowl. Drinks are almost always strong, but have enough juice that it's good even to those who don't drink alcohol often. The service is pretty often average to poor, which is surprising. Usually a smaller place has better service since waiters are always walking by, but it's pretty easy to be ignored here. Music is usually great and overall ambiance is fine. I want to love the place, but I leave more often than not unimpressed.
The establishment is always clean and staff is friendly. The food is consistently average: never horrible yet never memorable. Here's what I got: Jalapeño Margarita: 10/10. The best in town! Happy Hour Nachos: 6/10. The tortilla chips are crispy and the flavor is delicious however, the nachos lacked toppings and needed more real cheese on them. How can you beat $8 though?! Mango Habenero Wings: 6/10. The wings were tasty but I probably wouldn't order them again. The avocado dipping sauce is sour and weird. If you want wings, go to Bonchon a block away.
Always solid. Margaritas are on point and service is great! A weeknight go-to. Casual but still nice and steps to the ballpark!
Came for a bday celebration on a Tuesday evening. Even without the bday party, the place was pretty full Happy hour menu is a few dollars of drinks and some food I have the $12 trio of tacos. I opted for Fish (just okay, I wouldn't reoder), Shrimp was the best! and Steak came a close 2nd Had the Azul drink. Refreshing!!! Not too overpowering with the coconut Place shares a bathroom with CIRCA. You'll see how the restaurant seems to change :) Very accessible from either exits for Navy Yard.
Smoky al pastor tacos were good but the carne asada quesadilla (not technically on the menu but they told us it was ok and even recommended it) was amazing. Lots of mosquitos on the patio. Friendly servers!
Fantastic Mexican restaurant! They had a salmon taco special and the flavor was incredible. Smokey flavor with a nice crisp slaw. The atmosphere was modern and the staff was very friendly. The classic marg was spot on with a heavier hand on the tequila. I wouldn't definitely come back.
We had dinner here after a baseball game. The carne asada was killer good! The service was great, but it was too loud in there for me.

Came here on a Friday night. Got a table easy through reservations. What's nice is that they do weekday happy hour and let you order off the happy hour menu when not at the bar! We were seated upon arrival and our server was friendly. The inside is a little on the darker side, there were windows at the front but most of the restaurant is enclosed by walls. The happy hour menu was very affordable. We ordered off both menus. We got the Mexican street corn, yucca fries, HH nachos, and the HH quesadilla chicken tinga. The nachos were my favorite. And the quesadilla. The street corn was a nice lighter dip. I would probably pass on the yucca fries next time. read more

Looking for a happy hour fat and Navy yard is always a hit or miss but luckily we made this one just in time and the waiter was super informative about getting our order in before happy hour Ended. to make sure that we were good and can still get the same price. He made sure everything came out nice and cooked well. Flavors were lovely, atmosphere was really authentic and fast paced. They do have a bar which was a plus, but we sat at the booth. The flavors of the tacos were pretty good and the prices were good too, so I'll be back for another visit . read more

Came here before a concert at the Nationals Park stadium. Very nice, attentive staff. My sister got the enchiladas and said they were delicious. I had the taquitos gordos appetizer, and it was just OK. I personally wasn't a huge fan of the amount of cilantro and scallions inside the taquitos. It was a little overkill. All in all, I would come here again and try something different. They have pretty good happy hour specials - $3 chips and salasa, $10 quesadillas, and $2 off house margaritas. read more

Stopped into El Bebe for happy hour and was not disappointed. I ordered the nachos and they were delicious. The chicken was seasoned to perfection, the guacamole was fresh, and every bite just worked. Easily one of the best nacho plates I have had in a while. The ambiance sealed the deal for me. I really liked the dim lighting. It gave the space a cozy but still energetic vibe that made hanging out over food and drinks feel even better. My friend ordered a ginger beer and shared some with us. Hands down the best ginger beer I have tasted in a long time. Refreshing with just the right amount of kick. Great spot for happy hour if you want good food, solid drinks, and a lively vibe. I will definitely be back. read more

Honestly this place was great. We sat at the bar during happy hour (3-7) and the bartender was great. We got the passion fruit margaritas (added spice) and it was delicious. For food I got the crispy shrimp but grilled. 10/10 highly recommend. Chips and queso was also really good. I will definitely be back. read more

Dropped in for a quick dinner and I was throughly impressed by this spot. It was Taco Tuesday and 7pm so we just missed happy hour and it was very packed. Our wait was about 10-15 minutes, I didn't like that the entrance/exit was very tight with no guest seating if you are waiting. The patio isn't the best to sit at so I wouldn't recommend anyone to sit out there. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I am very particular on my Mexican food and they passed my tastebuds test. The food was fresh and packed with flavor. We got the 8 ounce frozen margarita, but they offer a bigger sized option also. I've never seen or had Blackberry flavor so we got that mixed with mango. It was really good, and reminded me of Sangria . It was really lively inside with up best music and laughter/conversation throughout the restaurant. Our bill was almost $100, we spent more than we planned to but with the service charge and DC tax the cost was raised a bit. The manager dropped by to check on us, which was nice. Great location near Nats park. The restaurant is clean and fresh. Some of the tables are a little close together so not easy place for a private conversation. The server was very pleasant and efficient. Tacos have good flavor. The bowl of rice and beans are good also. Rice was a little crunchy, but not a major problem. The big negative is that you can't mix the tacos on the platters. Was with a small group that all ordered different tacos so we could mix and match ourselves. read more
This is a hidden gem that I never knew existed. Right in the center of navy yard, close to the metro and next to circa. I love the dark decor with of a pop of color throughout. We had drinks at the bar and the service was good. There is a variety of food options, especially my favorite..hearing the sizzling sound of fajitas. Try it out. Went during happy hour with my friends after work. Our server was AMAZING...so mad I can't remember her name. She was as attentive as can be. From the margaritas to the tacos, everything was delicious and wonderfully tasty. The chips and queso hit the spot. I was next able to mix and match tacos which included carne asada, carnitas and the el guero supreme. I think I found a new favorite tex mex spot in DC. El Bebe was everything I needed. read more
Went here for happy hour the other day. Love the ambiance and the outdoor seating option. The server was very attentive although at times I wish he would relax a bit. The happy hour wasn't too happy. It's very limited options. And perhaps I'm spoiled but I'm used to chips and salsa being free but here it's included on the hh menu. I got chips and guac which wasn't on the hh menu. They had $2 off margaritas; I got a large one for $15. A regular drink price to me but it was good. I also ordered fish (mahi) tacos. Those were delicious. I was pleased with the food and drinks but I just wouldn't recommend coming here if you're looking for hh deals. read more
Now my favorite restaurant in the Yards. This place never disappoints. If you want Mexican food, come here. Skip all of the other places. Don't waste your time or money. The food is always consistently excellent and staff is always friendly. Whether you sit at the bar or at the tables, service is impeccable. Okay, now for some food options. The chicken fajitas are so good. If you ever cooked white meat chicken, you know how challenging it can be to get the seasoning and texture right. At El Bebe they got it right. The rice and refried beans are delicious, the guacamole and queso dip is divine. The chips that they serve them with are seasoned with something that I can't even identify lol. And lastly, my favorite menu option are the Birria Tacos . Man they're so good. If you're looking for cool and charming spot to eat while visiting the Yards, DO NOT overlook El Bebe. read more

First dinner after a move to DC and this place hit!! Fun atmosphere good food and big drinks a great start to any evening in Navy Yard. The good: the service was fast and friendly, able to help with modifying drink orders and quick to get everything to the table. The food here was solid. The smoked tomato salsa was great and my beef enchiladas were a standout. The mediocre: the drinks are available in large portions and our margaritas were pretty good but a word to the wise that their base tequila is Cuervo which may or may not offend you. They do have a good tequila menu to swap into and the tequila is clearly listed on the menu so no harm no foul I suppose. The bad: no real complaints here. read more
Sooo yummy!! Grabbed a bite to eat with some Yelp Elites after an event! The food was delicious, service was pretty good. We did have to hunt didn't the waitress a few times but no biggie as we were talking and catching up. Everyone's food came out at the same time and we all agreed that the food was so good! The margarita wasn't strong at all and it you could actually make out the passion fruit taste! The jalapeños toreados are spicy so try at your own risk It didn't seem busy when we first arrived but as time progressed they did get quite a few tables. We stopped at El Bebe before seeing a concert to fuel up before standing for hours. The ambience is nice and there is ample indoor and outdoor seating! We were seated quickly and our server was helpful and made several recommendations. We ordered the elote dip, and I had the chopped salad with shrimp while my brother, a vegetarian, decided on the cheese enchiladas. Overall the food was fresh and tasty, with the consensus that it seemed a little under seasoned. Although the pricing is a little on the expensive side, I think it's consistent with the area and I would also say the portions are good! read more
