We loved this place!!! Chose HiFi based on the Yelp reviews and realized when we arrived that this is actually a food hall type venue called The Roost. I'll be reviewing the whole place. The ambiance is incredible, and the way it flows is ingenious. You sit down, scan a QR code with your phone, and are able to order from any of the multiple eateries in the space. Place your order online and then waitstaff brings your order over from any/all of the restaurants. Honestly, I ordered from multiple spots- HiFi, the bar, the sushi spot- and all of our food was absolutely phenomenal. I will be back for sure the next time we're visiting DC!

OMG!! Possibly the best tacos, ever!! Dropped in on a whim and found the Rooster, a super cute eatery with contactless dining. Yelp reviews lead us to Hi/Fi Tacos and the experience did not disappoint. We started with "Taco night in America" (crispy beef taco with shredded lettuce and queso), and the "3 chili marinated catfish." After the first bite we quickly placed a second order for four more catfish tacos (it was THAT GOOD). I'm all about a good street taco topped with all the fixings and the catfish was EXCELLENT!! The habanero-pickled onions topped with the pico de gallo and smoked cream HIT DIFFERENT. Excuse me while I lose my manners....

If you're looking for a taco experience in a beer focused food hall located within the DC area then Hi/Fi is the place to be. Located within the roost in SE dc hi/fi does a good job of hitting that taco craving after a few beers. Don't remember what the tacos were just remember they went will with the beers and were decently priced (for DC). Not the best or most authentic taco I've had, but definitely gets the job done and will probably be my go to for quick bites at the Roost from now on.

This place is Charming. On a random Wednesday we were seated immediately. They have an interesting tap list and fun cocktails, everyone's happy. Smoked queso dip is great, comes topped with pico for extra crunch, served with sturdy tortilla chips. And it's a good thing they are sturdy, the elote dip demands it. Eating the elote as served, with the tortilla chips instead of shoveling it into your mouth via fork, you find yourself enjoying corn four ways. Tacos were excellent, orange soda braised carnitas perfectly over filled. I do wish you could mix and match. The husbands brisket was great too -- thick sliced and moist. He thought it was too salty but I disagree. The sauces were perfect. My only complaint, the plantains came out without the pickled onions and creama, no bother -- will try again next time. And there will be a next time. Just what I need, another reason to be jealous of the people who live in this adorable neighborhood.

Enjoyed Hi Fi Taco. From the Hi Fi Taco menu, I tried the Mojo Braised Chicken Tacos and the Kitchen Sink Nachos. Both were very good with good flavors. I would definitely try both again but enjoyed the tacos more. Would love to see guacamole on the menu. This was my first time at The Roost. The experience was 4 star. Thanks to Hannah, Joe, and Daniel for such great service. I really liked the idea. For dine in, have a seat, scan the code which is unique to the table, and order away. I especially liked the idea of being able to order from several different restaurants and menus and have it delivered to my table. I understand from Hannah that the site used for the menu and ordering is a work in progress. They have several improvements in the works. Looking forward to returning.

Queso, Nachos and chicken tacos. Delicious!

Wonderful food! Great atmosphere. Well located and friendly staff. Quick prep so it was perfect for the short lunch we had time for.

This place is my new favorite spot to get Mexican food! I have ordered food from Hi/ Fi Taco twice and each time the food was Wonderful!!! I made the mistake of trying the Orange Soda Braised Carnitas right before my 10 day detox! Yes, I know.....I screwed myself over big time because all I have been thinking about are those tacos!! Good LORD they were amazing!! And the type of cheese and the way it was applied just makes it stand out amongst a lot of other tacos I've have from other restaurants (if you try it you will know what I mean)! My other favorite is the Taco Night in America taco! I don't know how they do it but they have successfully managed to put a new spin on tacos! Everything is flavorful and slightly out of the ordinary which I thoroughly enjoyed!!! I am going to end this review and close out Yelp now so that I can complete this detox... because these tacos are calling my name.... aggressively!!!!! You gotta try this place out!! You will not be disappointed!!!

TACOS!!! Yet these aren't just regular tacos, THESE are Nate Anda's HI/FI Tacos. Now, if you're familiar with the quality Nate brings to the table, then you know you haven't experienced tacos quite like this. For instance, four of the five tacos are topped with a form of 'crema.' The one appropriately named Taco Night in America and seemingly a nod to the tried-and-true OG standard doesn't. I can assure you TNiA's flavor has bound to be anything but plain. Via tabletop QR code menus, my friends and I ordered while enjoying our previously ordered beers (same app) from Shelter. We shared the Kitchen Sink nachos and I, personally, enjoyed the following: Orange Soda Braised Carnitas Crispy Avocado 3 Chili Marinated Catfish Each taco had its own, unique flavor profile coupled with textures unlike one another. Truthfully, though, I'm finding it hard to provide some kind of ranking. YMMV and I don't think you'd be disappointed with these and/or the other two taco available. I'll definitely be trying them next time along with the Crispy Chorizo Queso. As for the nachos, they admittedly left something to be desired. With a name like Kitchen Sink, I expected MORE. More toppings. More of said toppings at least. These would be best renamed Kitchenette Nachos but were still good nevertheless. In regards to HI/FI Tacos service, there really isn't too much to say. The food was prepared reasonably quick and delivered to our tables by Roost runners(?) timely. However, I would be remissed to say the food was lukewarm at best. It was at max limited capacity Saturday night so they were likely swamped with orders. Not a deal breaker in my book. Next time, I'll be trying the other two tacos I didn't this go 'round, that Chorizo mentioned and their wings. Yes, they have wings too but wanted to keep my focus on what they're front lining. Remember, this isn't HI/FI Wings. Or will it be?!?! Guess we'll find out soon enough. Tacos: 1 for $3, 2 for $5.75, 6 for $17 Kitchen Sink Nachos: $12.50

The mocktail was super sweet, which wasn't ideal, but I drank most of it. The mini hot in the cup was very good. I liked the dessert too!

Happy Hour Alert!…read more First, why did I take so long to check out this gem?! Well, I'm glad that I finally did because my Happy Hour experience was fantastic!!!!! No reservations made, we made the decision to visit at the spur of the moment and the hostess was very accommodating. Shoutout to our incredible waitress Maria! Thank you for your recommendations and hospitality. Happy Hour- the prices and the portions are beautifully matched in that they were affordable and generous in serving. Drinks: I ordered the passion fruit margarita which was AMAZING! The liquor to passion fruit juice ratio was spot on and the drink had a little smokiness to it, thanks to the dried fruit added on top. My next drink was the white sangria which was okay but I think that my experience with the margarita made it hard for me to enjoy this drink right after. It wasn't bad, just wasn't my favorite like the margarita was lol My last drink was the espresso martini (not on the HH menu). This drink was worth every penny and now added to my top 20. Food: Spicy creamy shrimp- a dish so delicious, we ordered another one. The crunch on the shrimp set the tone for the burst of flavor to follow. The shrimp was fresh and the flavors combined so well. Mejillones en curry, which came with a slice of blue corn bread, was absolutely delicious! The curry sauce was such a hit that we talked about it long after dinner ended. Using it as a dipping sauce for the blue corn bread was also a good touch. This dish was creamy and the mussels were delicious and fresh. Brussel sprouts- a fun play on roasted Brussels with a delectable peanut butter sauce added. This was another fav, pretty much all of the food was phenomenal but this dish left you wanting more. Lastly, we had the Tostada de Cangrejo which was perfectly topped with crabmeat. The crabmeat was sweet, I cannot explain but the sweet succulent taste was complimented by the creamy guacamole. To conclude an amazing time, we tried their Tres Leches cake and I would say that I didn't like the whipped cream topping but I loved the cake itself. Overall, I had an incredible time. The ambiance was simply beautiful, grown, and sexy. The food was impeccable! And the drinks were divine!

To be completely honest, this was such a disappointing experience. I've heard great things about…read morethis restaurant so I had high hopes, but those hopes were not met. Our server, Sama, was the best part of our experience. He was attentive and made many suggestions. However, the food did not live up to any expectations. To start out, we ordered guacamole. Simple, plain guacamole. The guacamole came out covered in bacon. We're pescatarian. The server put it in properly, but the kitchen messed it up. After another 15ish minutes, someone (I'm assuming a manager) brought out the corrected item. It genuinely tasted like premade, store bought guacamole. Next, the pound of Buffalo shrimp that we ordered came out. It was extremely soggy. No crispiness at all. We also ordered an order of fries. When the shrimp was brought out., the gentleman who brought it out asked us if we wanted bacon on the fries (he didn't have any fries with him). Now this is the same gentleman (not our server) who brought out the guacamole with bacon that had to be sent back. After waiting almost another 7-8 minutes, fries finally came out. Now again I say, our server was amazing. He offered to have the shrimp remade because as soon as he saw the shrimp, he said, "That's not what I promised you." We declined as we'd been in the restaurant almost another hour and really just wanted the check. Although our server attempted to make a small bit of the many issues that came with this experience better, with the extensive amount of challenges not one time did management come back to the table to attempt to make anything right. There were significant issues with the kitchen and management of this establishment. We paid the tab and left, but will not be back, nor will I ever recommend this restaurant to anyone.
