Stopped by city tacos for lunch and it was also happy hour. The food was really good. I selected the lunch special. It came with 2 chicken tacos and rice and beans. My order was more than enough. I chicken was well seasoned and it was very juicy. I loved the marinade. The service was also really good too. The waiter was very attentive and checked on us often. I also ordered a fresha. It was very tasty. I plan to returned when the weather is warmer.

A spot to go get some good food, especially if you're looking to get something that is not too expensive, but also fairly good quality. The Jamaica here is pretty good, as well as the tortas, would definitely recommend those. One of the better Jamaica drinks I've had in the area, not too powerful, not too light, and they add the limon which I've never had, but is a good addition. The tortas have everything you're looking for in a torta, I would add a little more meat overall to the torts, but it hall all the right ingredients that make up a solid a torta. Others like the burritos and tacos here as well, but I've only tired to tortas.

Probably the best DC tacos south of the capitol! Great neighborhood spot away from the bustle of Navy Yard and elsewhere. The tacos were full of flavor and the staff were attentive & friendly. Reasonable prices as well!

Caiparinhas to go!! So good!!!! Love this place!!

It's hard to find good tacos in DC. This place is it! I went to the Navy Yard location. I've been here 3 years, tried countless taco spots, and THIS (Taco City DC Navy Yard) is only one of three places I'd recommend thus far. Didn't make a reservation, though you might need to on busy nights. It's a small, casual spot that's decorated nicely. First, corn tortillas - yes. Delicious, complex flavors - yes! Yummy margaritas and caiparinhas - yes. Kind staff - Yes. Happy Hour - Yes. But wait, there's more. You can order drinks to go! The second time I was there, I was just picking up food to eat at home. When I arrived, I added 2 caiparinhas to go to my order and went home and had a great yummy dinner with delicious bar-made drinks. Doesn't get any better than that. Tacos = cauliflower tacos - delicious! Polvo (octopus) - delicious! Shrimp - yummy!! Steak - my partner said it was great, one of the best steak tacos he's had in DC (and he's been here 4 years) Chicken - good, but I liked the other tacos better. Chicken Quesadilla - not my fav. I like cheese and onions and peppers in my quesadilla. Not sure if this is traditional to have these things in your quesadilla, but that's my personal preference. Overall, great food! They also have happy hour food specials! Drinks = caiparinhas - delicious margaritas - delicious They have happy hour drink specials! Staff = Absolutely lovely. They are kind and friendly. Parking = Street Parking. I never have a problem finding parking. Do yourself a favor, and try this spot next time you have a taco craving.

Came here with a couple friends after seeing all the great reviews and it totally lived up to the hype. The fish tacos were my favorite, crispy on the outside with a fresh slaw and creamy sauce that balanced everything perfectly. My friend got the birria tacos and couldn't stop raving about them. Service was fast and they brought everything out piping hot. The vibe here is fun and low key, perfect for a casual lunch. We grabbed a table outside and hung out for a bit, never felt rushed. Definitely going on my regular rotation.

These tacos were super fresh and full of flavor. I had one chicken, one beef, and one veggie and all of them were great in their own way. The corn tortillas were soft but held together well. Loved the little kick from their spicy salsa. The place gets busy but the service moves pretty fast. It's a fun spot with good music and a nice crowd. Would definitely recommend stopping by.

I came in here for a quick-to-go lunch as I was working in the city. Since it was Tuesday, I decided on Tacos (Taco Tuesday). They have a 3-taco deal and I also got a Hibiscus drink, which was delicious. I got their shrimp taco, Al pastor taco, and mahi mahi taco. The shrimp and Al pastor tacos were delicious and flavorful; however the mahi mahi taco lacked flavor and the fish was tough and not flaky, which is what I expected. Service was great I was greeted when I came in and my order was taken right away. It took longer than I expected to get my food and drink. Honestly, I think the waitress forgot I ordered a drink because I had to remind her when my food was ready. The establishment is small inside; however, they do offer outside seating.

Had lunch here and the tacos totally delivered. The steak taco had a nice sear and the marinade was spot on. I liked that they kept the toppings simple, letting the meat shine. The salsa bar was a huge bonus with a solid range of spicy and mild options. Our server was friendly and helpful with recommendations. The vibe inside was casual and clean with fun music playing. I left full and already planning what to try next time.

Absolutely love this place! The food is always fresh and flavorful, the staff treats you like family, and the prices can't be beat. Even though we live in California, every time we're in town we make sure to stop here--it's become our spot!

I happened to be in the area and looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite to eat before catching a show at the Capital Turnaround, and I am SO glad I found Taco City !! Yum yum yummmmm... Everything was so incredibly delicious from the cocktails to the quesadillas and tacos!! They have a huge range of tequilas and mezcals to choose from, so if that's your thing - you should definitely add these guys to your list!!! 10/10 would recommend!

Where do I begin! We were welcomed in by the staff as we approached the bar area. After a review of the menu I started with a yummy pineapple margarita. I like sweet drinks and this definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. This is my first visit here so I opted to try 3 different tacos. I ordered shrimp, steak, and fish. The fish tacos was my favorite, followed by the shrimp taco. The meat inside the steak taco was a little too tough for my preference.

Lunch special, meat filled and tasty!

Want tasty creative affordable tacos? This is the place, great selection of tacos, all seasoned nicely and well plated. Outdoor dining is available, service for take out and dine-in have been pleasant. Great service, professional and attentive. If you want grilled octopus, pork, beef or vegan.. they have the tacos for you! See for yourself - nicely plated tacos.

I had my boyfriend try them (he thought I was being dramatic), and he immediately agreed something was off, though his tacos were great. We went again another time and ordered 3 or 4 things, but the chicken tasted a bit old, which was disappointing. We went in right as they opened, on a Friday at 5 pm, and there was already a line! The reservations were full, but we were offered a seat either at the bar or outside. Luckily it was a beautiful day so we took a seat outside. They started us off with a sweet hibiscus flavored juice as a palate cleanser which was super refreshing. The left side of the menu had appetizers and shareables, while the right side had entrees. We ordered the short rib tacos, pork belly, wagyu empanadas, and seafood enchiladas. Everything had a beautiful bright orange sauce on it and made it look like it would be spicy but it wasn't! I think it's their signature guajillo sauce and it was VERY good, super creamy. Seafood enchiladas: This was my fav. Might have been because it was extremely hungry and it was my first bite. Definitely best when eaten warm, as the cheese is gooiest and the seafood inside is hot. I wasn't sure how the salad was going to be but it added a perfect refreshing and acidity to balance out the creamy sauce. Wagyu empanadas: Much gooey-er and cheesier than expected, but also a hit! Came with a decent amount of beef inside. Comes with the orange sauce and a chimichurri, which I think was a good idea because given how cheesy and creamy the filling already was, the chimichurri was a nice balance as well. Pork belly: Melts as soon as you cut into it. The Asian in me low key wanted a giant bowl of rice with this so that I could soak up all the sauce and veggies. Pretty fatty so if you're not a fan of that you might not like this. Short rib tacos: These were loaded, not with meat but with tons of crunchy topping (maybe fried carrots?) Could have done with slightly less crunch but overall still good. The orange sauce on the bottom had a peanuty flavor which I thought added a unique kick. Also, we were surprised at how quickly the food came out. We were in and out in under an hour. Our server Rebecca was also extremely nice. Will def be back if in the area. Highly recommend all around!

The service was ok, we had to tell our server we weren't seeing him enough, there's a 2 hour limit and we weren't getting a chance to order more drinks. After that he kept the drinks coming. WARNING! You DO NOT get to choose what items you want from the ayce brunch menu, they bring every single dish out and they do it at a pace that you barely get a chance to enjoy anything. Every dish is loaded with fillers and barely any meat. Every dish has a similar flavor of chilli, lime and cilantro. I say this with the upmost respect to this restaurant, the only good thing about the brunch were the churros and they don't give you that until you're ready to leave. The chicken and waffles were almost good but the sauce on the chicken with the waffle just ruins it. The steak and eggs were ok and you only get a 1oz piece of steak. Birria tacos were just ok and the fish taco was ok. Everything else was not worth it. A lot of items went to waste. If we could've chose exactly what we wanted, it might have been better. This would also add to why the service did not start off well because our server gave us our first drink and left. After that, every item from the brunch menu were just getting dropped off by food runners. It became overwhelming. We didn't even have room on the table for all of that. Then we also had to ask for new plates because we did not want to mix the flavors of every dish. The drinks were also not good, I had margaritas for my drink of choice and they are so sour and filled with cheap tequila... respectfully for 70$ a person you're better off ordering à la carte. The restaurant is beautiful though, great for pictures and the food is colorful as well but the flavors are just not that good and you're ultimately paying for a bunch of food that you don't really even want nor enjoy. I really hope they adjust this because I heard it was 10x better in the past.
