    Small Chips & Guac
    Jeff B.

My partner and I ordered a Protein Vida Bowl, a make-your-own burrito, small chips/guac and a couple of fountain drinks. It was super easy to order and pay from the kiosk. (There was someone at the front taking orders if you didn't want to use the kiosk.) I typed in a first name for the order and, although there were a number of people who also had ordered food, it didn't take more than a few minutes before they called my name. The order was correct and was packed well in a paper bag. The food was delicious. The chicken in our entrees was moist and flavorful, the other ingredients seemed fresh. The small chips was a decent size bag of nice, crisp chips with a nice portion of creamy, fresh guac. (I say creamy to describe the overall texture, but there were also some nice chunks of avocado in the cup.). Overall, impressed with the quick, friendly service, food taste and quality. There's outdoor seating and one table for seating on the main floor. The rest of the indoor seating is upstairs. We usually are in the area when we go to the nearby theaters. This place is definitely added to our rotation for before-theater lunch/dinner.

-Quick -Priced a little high for portions (except the chips) -Good options for customizing -Great toping options This is the second time I've eaten here in the last year and I have to say the first time was better. They missed one of the toppings that I ordered, and the Carne Asada was a little bland. The guacamole made up for it though.

Not bad for a quick taco fix. I ordered 3 of the fish tacos and customized the toppings. I wasn't expected them to be wrapped up together in a foil burrito so that was a surprise! The fish was flavorful but otherwise they were pretty standard tacos.

I'm from Dallas, home of the Tex Mex, and I'm usually wary of trying Mexican food from other states. District Taco was gig em good! I ordered a carnitas taco with rice, grilled corn, cilantro and jalapeños and a barbacoa taco with black beans and slaw mix. Both tacos were filled to the brim, I had to go downstairs and get a fork so I could finish all of the delicious toppings. The meat in both was tender and flavorful. The tortilla was soft and fresh. The overall meal was flavorful and fresh. This will be on a repeat for me when I return to DC!

I came here when visiting dc for the first time! This was a good find, I ordered their three taco meal. One chicken, one pork, and one asada. I was planning to get all three asada but the up charge was per taco. That's a little insane. Have one up charge for the whole meal not each individual component. The service was fast and the tacos were good. The chicken was the best one in my opinion! The location wasn't far from the national monuments so it was a great stop. There is limited seating so be aware of that and it was quite warm in the upstairs area which was the only option as the patio was full. I'd come here again but I'd only get the chicken next time!

During the summer, I saw a massive line in front of District Taco, and I assumed that the food must be pretty good. Why? Because who is gonna wait forever and a day for a few tacos? However, I decided to pass on stopping by that day because I am not a fan of waiting 30+ minutes for food when I'm in a decently-sized metro area. Ok, cut to a cold/rainy Saturday in February. I saw that District Taco was pretty empty, so I figured why not give it it shot. Also, I needed a little time to figure out where I was going after my quick snack. The 3-5 kiosks made ordering a breeze. For my dining pleasure, I went with the three tacos for $11 deal and added a side of mini churros. I thought the price of the tacos were fine especially since you could load the tacos with up to nine different toppings. And boy did I load them up. While the deal was great, I was not too impressed by the tacos. For instance, the potatoes topping reminded me of the general, bland potatoes that are served in a hotel breakfast buffet. Also, the meat (chorizo and carnitas) did not really have much seasoning. Ok, the tacos were not bad, but I was expecting a little more umph. However, I assumed the food was going to be 'out of this world' amazing based on the line I saw outside of the restaurant a few months prior. The service was pretty fast, and the restaurant has a decent amount of seating in the dining area upstairs. Also, the restaurant was super clean...probably because there were no customers inside (again, it was a cold and rainy Saturday in Feb.). *A very minor annoyance* When I'm dining in a fast food joint, I kind of like to have my food on a tray, but here, everyone gets a take out bag. Perhaps, giving everyone a to-go bag makes life a bit easier for the staff so they do not have to constantly clean trays, which is fine. Like I said, this is more of a "me" thing, and it does not negatively reflect on the restaurant. Although my meal was not bad, I do not think that I would go out of my way to have tacos from District Taco. However, if I'm in the area and in starvation mode, it could be a decent option for a quick and cheap bite....depending on the amount of people in the line.

Ordered two bowls it was good other than the chicken itself but I wouldn't recommend it, the serving size was terrible. Both of my bowls were half way full and when I called the lady couldn't really understand what I was saying.

This was a great and quick lunch during our DC trip. We didn't want to waste a lot of time but we needed a place that was good and that our kid would eat. This fit the bill. They have someone at the front but most people are ordering on the machines. The machines were very user-friendly and it was easy to create your own and/or modify dishes to fit your tastes. You can make your own tacos, burritos bowls, quesadillas, and kids meals. My son had the kids cheese quesadilla, which came with chips and a small side of rice and a milk. Of course we had to order a side of queso for him as well. The chips and queso were really good and definitely a highlight of me, you can make your own tacos, burritos bowls, quesadillas, and kids meals. My son had the kids cheese quesadilla, which came with chips and a small side of rice and a milk. Of course we had to order a side of queso for him as well. The chips and queso were really good and definitely a highlight of the meal for all of us. I wasn't terribly hungry so I too ordered a kids meal, but I got my quesadilla with Barbacoa and it was really good. I found the kids meal to be a substantial size and it came with a full size bottle of water, so it was a pretty good deal as well. My husband had the nachos. It was a very large serving. He had them with the Barbacoa and thought they were really good. The nachos were a little bit expensive, but it was a very generous portion. There is limited seating upstairs and outside. We timed it well that we didn't have to wait too long for our food and had no problems finding a seat.

Got the Carnitas "mexican way" on flour tortilla is in the front, and carnitas "jefe way" is in the background. One taco had more carnutas in one, and smaller in the other. Wish the pork was more flavorful.

Move over Chipotle meet District Taco! Bomb tacos with maybe the best habanero salsa ever. My mouth is on fire as I walk the sites of DC / but in such a wonderfully delicious way. Also love the fresh jalapeños and cilantro options to add.

Ingredients were very fresh and chicken was well cooked and quality. A good amount of food too. Plenty of upstairs seating and service was quick. Only thing a bit sad at that price point was no chips included. They had to be bought separate. This was a really solid option though!

We went in right as they opened, on a Friday at 5 pm, and there was already a line! The reservations were full, but we were offered a seat either at the bar or outside. Luckily it was a beautiful day so we took a seat outside. They started us off with a sweet hibiscus flavored juice as a palate cleanser which was super refreshing. The left side of the menu had appetizers and shareables, while the right side had entrees. We ordered the short rib tacos, pork belly, wagyu empanadas, and seafood enchiladas. Everything had a beautiful bright orange sauce on it and made it look like it would be spicy but it wasn't! I think it's their signature guajillo sauce and it was VERY good, super creamy. Seafood enchiladas: This was my fav. Might have been because it was extremely hungry and it was my first bite. Definitely best when eaten warm, as the cheese is gooiest and the seafood inside is hot. I wasn't sure how the salad was going to be but it added a perfect refreshing and acidity to balance out the creamy sauce. Wagyu empanadas: Much gooey-er and cheesier than expected, but also a hit! Came with a decent amount of beef inside. Comes with the orange sauce and a chimichurri, which I think was a good idea because given how cheesy and creamy the filling already was, the chimichurri was a nice balance as well. Pork belly: Melts as soon as you cut into it. The Asian in me low key wanted a giant bowl of rice with this so that I could soak up all the sauce and veggies. Pretty fatty so if you're not a fan of that you might not like this. Short rib tacos: These were loaded, not with meat but with tons of crunchy topping (maybe fried carrots?) Could have done with slightly less crunch but overall still good. The orange sauce on the bottom had a peanuty flavor which I thought added a unique kick. Also, we were surprised at how quickly the food came out. We were in and out in under an hour. Our server Rebecca was also extremely nice. Will def be back if in the area. Highly recommend all around!

We went around 11:30, so it started off pretty quiet, but as brunch picked up, it definitely got louder. The ambiance is nice though, very laid-back, chill, and a great vibe for a group brunch or celebration. We did the bottomless brunch, and one thing I really appreciated is that the bottomless food and drinks are priced separately. Not everyone in our group wanted drinks, so it was nice that we were only charged for the people who actually ordered them. The only downside is that mocktails aren't included. The food is served as small plates brought out progressively, but I do wish this had been explained better upfront. It was presented as if they would just bring items out, but it wasn't clearly communicated that we could also order anything we wanted from the menu. That made the experience feel a bit confusing. The meal started off strong. The salad was fresh, and there was a fruit/yogurt dish with agave that was honestly one of the best things we had. From there, it became hit or miss. The ceviche and chips were good, the fish tacos were solid, and I appreciated that they had some vegetarian options (though somewhat limited). The waffle and churro were highlights, but the potato hash fell flat. As the meal went on, service slowed down quite a bit. We were waiting a while for certain items (like the corn), and it felt like things just started to lag toward the end. Service overall followed a similar pattern. Strong at the beginning, but less attentive as it got busier. Overall, I'd rate it around a 7 out of 10. It's a fun spot for the experience and group setting, but the lack of clarity and inconsistency in pacing took away from it. I might consider trying it for dinner since I've heard good things, but for brunch, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to revisit.

Our server was really knowledgeable and friendly. As for the food , unfortunately, i didn't have anything that blew me away. My least favorite was the rabbit confit with apricot puree/Conejo en salmorejo con puré de albaricoques. Served in a metal mug, it drank like a sweeter Moscow Mule. *Passion Pisco Sour: the pisco sours had more distinct and vibrant flavors overall, and I would highly recommend them if you enjoy fruit forward drinks with an egg white finish. There is also a flight option, which I would have ordered if not for happy hour. This one was my favorite, with a well balanced mix of tartness and sweetness. *Chicha Sour: more tart than the passion version, with a warmer, spiced undertone. The cinnamon added a subtle smokiness, though it still leaned sweeter than expected. *Ceviche Sampler: includes tradicional, cremoso, and callejero. A great way to try a range of flavors, and everyone in my group had a different favorite. I would recommend asking for crispy plantains, as they were not automatically included and help carry the seafood. The tradicional leaned heavily on acidity, allowing the fish to shine, though it felt a bit one note. The sweet potato helped balance it. The callejero was my favorite, with a noticeable kick in the leche de tigre. The cancha and choclo added nuttiness, earthiness, and crunch. The cremoso sat in between, with more body and a slightly sweeter, richer profile thanks to the sweet potato. My only complaint was that the fish pieces were cut quite large, so we had to break them down further. *Causa Sampler: another trio featuring crocante, tartare, and pollo. These were heavier despite the smaller portions. The whipped potato base was well seasoned and had more structure than typical mashed potatoes. The crocante featured a large fried shrimp with rocoto aioli, though I would have preferred the sauce on the side. The flavor leaned like a standard spicy mayo. The tuna tartare had a Japanese influence, but the aioli was overly sweet, making the dish feel cloying. A thicker layer of avocado could have helped balance it. The wonton crisp was also missing both times I ordered it. The chicken version was the most mild and rustic, and needed more acidity or spice to bring it together. Despite this, the trio had potential with some adjustments. *Plancha Pulpo: a must order. This featured a large grilled octopus leg served with causa and choclo on a sizzling plate. The octopus had a smoky char and garlicky chimichurri, with a perfect balance of tenderness and chew. It rivaled a well cooked steak and was easily the standout dish. *Lomo Saltado: medium rare tenderloin stir fried with onions and peppers. The savory sweet sauce coated the fries, rice, and meat beautifully. The flavor leaned slightly Asian, and the beef was juicy and tender. The vegetables were soft and naturally sweet. *Pionono: fried sponge cake filled with Nutella and dulce de leche. It was quite sweet, but the coffee chip ice cream added a deep, rich contrast. The ice cream alone was standout quality. This dessert is easily shareable among four. *Flan: a classic base topped with grilled pineapple and quinoa tuille. The flan itself was smooth and creamy, though the pineapple's acidity distracted from it. It would have benefited from more caramelization. The quinoa tuille added texture more than flavor. *Suspiro: a polarizing dessert, but one I personally enjoyed. The manjar blanco was extremely rich and sweet, paired with an equally sugary meringue. I would have liked more texture or a torched finish for contrast. The passionfruit glaze was my favorite element, though it was used sparingly and could have helped balance the dish more if incorporated throughout. Pisco y Nazca Ceviche Gastrobar deserves its praise. The portions are generous, and the flavors are thoughtfully composed. While there are small tweaks I would make, the overall execution stands out and feels a step above many other options in DC.
