Not sure how long good trucks will last…read more Well thought out basic menu. Went for fajitas, at a pricey option at 13 clams, what is it with these trucks charging an arm and leg for lunch? Fajitas are cooked well, but involve little marinade or seasoning. On top of that they weren't that tender either. Guaca on the side is good, but far too little as is the pico. Biggest dud, the rice. Barely even properly cooked and hard. Still it did make a solid meal rice aside, but for the price I would have expected far better flavors. Good for in a pinch, but not for what they are charging by far.

No offense to the Oyamels or the Rosa Mexicana's of the world, but I prefer not to pay $15 for some tacos. Comparably priced to all other food-trucks, you can get a couple of enchiladas (your choice of red or green...or christmas style) with sides of rice, beans, and guac. I may venture to say that enchiladas are pretty high on my favorite types of junk food, so I'm happy to have Kalaveras rolling around town and I'll look for them the next time they're in the neighborhood. If there was one thing that knocked them off the 5-star pedestal, was that the wait was quite long. I appreciate that it's a mom and daughter shop throwing out some authentically delicious cuisine, but a food truck during the rush of a working lunch hour needs to pick up the pace just a bit. Because I mean, after stuffing my face with cheese, tortilla, and meat, I'm going to need to take a nap. Which means I need my food quick in order for me to make sure I get my food coma siesta out of the way before trudging through the rest of the work day.

Most people were dressed in professional clothing (seems like a popular post-work happy hour spot), but my friend and I showed up in athleisure and open-toed shoes (like silicone slides). We wanted tacos this past Tuesday, and this Taqueria Xochi location was the most convenient. It was also Cinco de Mayo, so maybe we were being a bit performative (I'm joking). Many online reviews say this location is expensive in particular, and indeed it was. With the happy hour pricing (yes, HAPPY HOUR), I paid over $31 for three al pastor tacos and Margherita after tax and tip. However, the worst offense is how long we had to wait for food. The line to order was pretty long (~10 minutes), but I waited 30 minutes for my food and my friend waited close to 55. There was only one employee cooking/making the food and two others assembling food and making drinks. All three were clearly doing their best, to be clear, but the wait was too long. HH TACO AL PASTOR - 5 + normally, this is $6 per taco The tortillas were dry and stale, which is better than greasy and soggy, I guess. The al pastor was quite flavorful and well-seasoned. Overall, pretty disappointing since the tortilla is half of the taco. HH MARGHERITA - 10 This was literally an 8 oz. clear plastic cup with 90% ice and 10% liquid. I cannot believe this was $10 and "happy hour" pricing. It was incredibly strong, so if you're looking to get the buzz quick, this is your drink because it was not tasty whatsoever. However, I'd argue that it would be cheaper and equally effective to down a shot of tequila. I finished my food before my friend got his. He got a side of tortilla and morita salsa for us to share, which was lightly spicy and smoky. Quite delicious, but we agreed there was not enough dip for the chips. Overall, this Taqueria Xochi was a miss for us in terms of food quality, service, and pricing. I'm open to trying a different location (three others in the DMV) to see if the experience is any better!

Yet, when we got to the truck, the menu posted made no mention of them. We asked the man who took our order if he had quesadillas and we made mention of seeing them in the online menu. He said he would make them for us. We ordered one with beef and one with chicken. For those who want chicken, they use chicken thighs. He prepared our order which was freshly made. The order cost $30. We appreciated that he bagged it up for us which made it easier to get it upstairs without any mishaps. I ate the beef one and was impressed not only with the generous amount meat used but also the amount of cheese in it. The tortillas were nicely fried and had a crunch to them. Each order came with a small side of pico de gallo and some sour cream. The pico was nicely flavored. My husband ate the chicken one and like me, he, too, was impressed with the food. If you come across this truck and want some Mexican food, you can't go wrong ordering from them. They have a good selection of tacos. Should they come back to our building, we certainly will order from them again!

Fish And Chips What Is It: Classic British dish consisting of 2 big fried fish pieces and fries or chips depending on what you choose to call them. Presentation: Pretty basic as you would expect from a food truck but the food part looks like proper fish and chips. 7 out of 10 Taste/Final Analysis: This was as fine of an example of fish and chips as I've ever had. The fish was flaky and delicious and didn't even require tartar sauce which is really saying something. The chips/fries were seasoned nicely and they had a bottle of a sweet/tangy type of sauce that was awesome and made me return for an extra squirt. If you are on food truck row and are feeling some good seafood come on over over like I did. You sure won't regret it. 10 out of 10
