I dined here last night and Sandra was our server. First of all, the ambiance was lowkey. It wasn't too crowded and our food came out with perfect timing. First our apps and our entrees not too long after. We had the frozen Mango and Frozen Strawberry Margs, if you don't listen to anything I say, just get the mango. You won't be disappointed. It was literal perfection. For my appetizer I had the Chicken empanadas. The crust was flaky and the inside was delicious. The chicken was cooked to perfection. And the drizzle on the plate hit so hard! It was delicious. For my entree I got the Chipotle Shrimp. The showstopper was the creamy white wine sauce and the rice. I was in food heaven. This dish was so flavorful, the shrimp was legit perfect. Not chewy and overdone. You can tell the chef really loved what they do. Everything felt like home. Whenever I dine out, I want to feel like, I can't get this dish anywhere else but here and I left feeling great because it was everything I could ask for. Agua 301 is a great place to enjoy Happy Hour, munching on $3 tacos, sipping on fruity frozen drinks and looking out over the water. The afternoon we were there, the bar was lively but there were still some quieter tables available. We liked both the barbacoa taco and the pork belly pastor. The frozen mango margarita was tasty as long as I remembered to watch out for brain freeze... The staff was really busy but attentive and very friendly. I thought this was a solid spot, with good food if service was better my rating would have been higher. I met an acquaintance here on 7/29/2025. The restaurant was busy but not packed and I was able to be sat (in the bar area) after the host cleaned a table for me while I waited for the person joining me. The bartender came over to me and gruffly asked me if I was waiting and when I confirmed I was he walked away, never did he greet me. While I was waiting he did come over a drop off menus. When the person joining me arrived, he came over and asked us if we were ready, we were and I proceeded to order a chicken and steak fajita. I asked him if I could have lettuce with that as I wanted to make a salad, he responded that he did not know if they had lettuce, but that he would put the order in and look into it for me. Our food came out, there was no lettuce I guess as it didn't arrive with our food, but I will say the food was really good, flavorful and came out in good time. No acknowledgement, no menu, no water... about 15 minutes later, she asked what I wanted to order. I have never been here before. I'd like to see the menu, please. I ordered the classic margarita, wings, and chicken flautas. The margarita was watered down, unsurprising for happy hour. The wings had good flavor, 6 wings for $8.50 on happy hour... Pretty standard. The flautas were bland, would not order again. Never saw of heard from the bartender again, she did not make a round before happy hour ended. Several people at the bar wanted to order another drink but she was slow and did not serve people well. Never got water, never got silverware or a napkin. This place charges auto gratuity 20%. I would not provide a 20% tip for this lack of service. I will not come back here. There are better options in the DC Navy Yard for food, ambiance, happy hour, etc. read more

My friend suggested this spot for Saturday brunch, and I'll admit I was a little skeptical at first. I don't usually hang out in Navy Yard, and when I checked the menu online, I didn't see anything about a bottomless option. Our reservation was for 1 PM, and while it wasn't very crowded, there were a few people enjoying the outdoor seating. Our waitress, Sandra, was absolutely amazing, warm, attentive, and super helpful. She recommended the steak and eggs, and I'm glad she did, the steak was cooked perfectly. For $25, you can do bottomless margaritas, and Sandra made sure my glass was never empty. The menu has options that I believe cater to everyone's appetite and the HH special..can't beat it. Now to the drinks. The frozen machine needs to be inspected. I could not drink my drink for about 15 mins receiving it because the frozen margarita was so thick that I could not use the Straw or appreciate the flavor. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted at the door. The ambience was casual and the noise level was on the moderate to loud side. The service was great, especially given our large group. Mango Shrimp Taco: 8.5/10. The salsa that they put on top of the shrimp was good. But the shrimp itself lacked flavor. Baja Fish Taco: 9/10. This taco was overall good. This was my second time visiting Agua 301. The first time I didn't leave a review, as I just went to have drinks and sat outside to enjoy the view and heated patio. This time around, I was looking forward to exploring the menu and enjoying the food. I got there around happy hour time, and decided to sit outside to enjoy the weather, but I immediately had to come inside as the table that I was seated at didn't have an umbrella and all of the leaves and buds were littering the table. Eventually, I was seated inside and was told that a waiter would be assigned to my table. She never came. Luckily, one staff member did manage to take appetizer and drink orders, but I eventually had to go up and ask the manager for a server as it was about 20 mins after the drinks and appetizers arrived before I was able to place my main order. Nonetheless, the food arrived and everything was pretty good. The favorite was the guacamole and the cilantro lime rice. The paella and tacos were pretty good too. All and all, my time here was okay. There's an automatic 22% tip charged to your bill, and the manager removed it so that I can add a custom tip as he knew that the service wasn't up to par. With an added emphasis on service, I believe this is easily a "4 star" place. Which are all decent , the navies being the stellar of the bunch. This time we tried some items that we had not had before. The vibe is fun, it's busy, modern Mexican look, and staff are mostly friendly. This time we ordered some items we had not had before. The waiter was good about giving recommendations but service was not good. We didn't get the complementary chips and salsa until we asked at least 2 different times. The waiter was apologetic. All the food came out at once. Actually the entree came out before the appetizer. The flavors are unique and different and I normally enjoy mole sauce. But they put way too much mole sauce on the enchiladas; it was sweet and overbearing. Not much of a filing inside the enchiladas and the late was a little too small; our rice was falling off the plate. Fries were not so great. Black Bean Cheese dip comes with a side of soft tortillas. It has a fun wrap-around outdoor patio that's always full in the summer. The margaritas are delicious and always hit the spot. The classic margarita is my favorite here. The food is very good. I've been here a few times. Overall, it's not the best food everrr but it's good if you're in the area & craving Mexican cuisine. The most recent time I went was during lunch, which actually wasn't that busy. But the food/service was a little slow even sitting at the bar (though I think the bartender also unfortunately had tables on the patio too). I got the fish tacos, the salmon tacos, & the shrimp tacos. The fish was the best..the salmon was probably my least favorite. I was annoyed because I accidentally left my to go box on the counter, came back 2 minutes later & that was the first thing that was thrown away during clean up while our cups/other items were still there?! A tasty Navy Yard restaurant only a few minutes walking from the Metro Stop. A friend and I came here on a Friday evening, and we were one of maybe only five full tables in the space. We liked the food for the most part! The paella had delicious large pieces of succulent crab. The Baja fish taco was crunchy and had a wonderful slaw. The barbacoa taco was good but nothing special. The Ceasar salad was charred but not as delicious as I imagined it to be. My friend got coconut shrimp. Unfortunately, they had no sauce or sweet sauce that would normally accompany coconut shrimp. She also got the wings! Yummy the service was good but slow AF! It took 30 mins to get a Ceasar salad and wings, 20 minutes to get our drinks (which weren't brought out at the same time- so 20 mins for my friend's drink and an additional 10 mins for mins), and there weren't that many people there.
