Avocado Toast and Mimosa!
Nina C.

As a Californian visiting The Hill for work, this foodie wanted to get a taste of home this morning- with of course, an avocado toast. Served with a arugula salad, the toast exceeded my expectations! I loved the touch of tomatoes and sesame seeds. I got the orange mimosa to pair with it and it was a great breakfast, overlooking the Capitol. Unfortunately, it was raining today- but the view was still very enjoyable inside. Staff were friendly, and it was a quiet morning to start off my day. Thanks for having me!! I hope to be back to enjoy the rooftop at night, or when the sun comes back up. :)

Yea, I liked this place a lot. The bathrooms are all separated! You're not in a room with a bunch of people. That's probably my favorite part. The restaurant is on the top floor so there's a beautiful view of DC (including the capital and Washington monument). The service was exceptional. My Branzino was cooked to perfection (it can be a challenge to not over-cook). Glad I came! Would def come again. Parking not included.

Upstairs at the Morrow, may just be one of my favorite places to be in DC during the summertime. The DJ, the bartenders, the food, the views, the ambiance inside are all spectacular. Every time I go I always order the chicken tenders and french fries because they are seasoned so well. They have a happy hour Wednesday-Friday from 4-7 pm. The next time you're in the NOMA area be sure to check this place out. It's a hidden gem within The Morrow, which I would also recommend staying at, the rooms are beautiful!

Located on the rooftop of the Morrow hotel, the bar makes great use of the small space. Sitting roughly 30-40 ppl comfortably the area is a mix of indoor/outdoor space with a view you can see from nearly every seat. My friend and I opted for the bar and were waited on right away. Mainly there for the drinks, and to line my stomach before a show at the Howard theatre, I ordered a lemon drop and chicken tenders. The 3 stars were for the amount of time it took for the chicken tenders to come out (23mins) as well as the breading. The chicken tenders themselves were solid but the breading was falling off and soggy. They're served with a mambo sauce but I didn't enjoy it. Having MS at the carry out all my life I haven't been able to stomach the gentrified MS haha. I instead opted for their ranch which was AMAZING and tasted like it was made in house. They also have a sunset toast that happens at sunset where the bar offers you a generic drink. I did not partake because I don't mix liquor but it was a cute touch. Overall if you're looking for a spot to grab drinks this is a decent place to be. For 6pm on a Friday it was very lowkey and the perfect vibe for a quick drink with a view if you're in the area. The DJ left much to be desired but musical taste will vary from person to person.

Beautiful skyline view, menu options and atmosphere. Driving here in insane. No parking.

Food and drinks

Its beautiful location with great food and drinks. The staff were amazing with superb service.

Dinner menu

The Morrow burger was very good. Cooked to order, very tasty and good portion. Came with fries which were crisp. Service on a Sunday night seemed a bit haphazard but bar tender/server was attentive. The view is great - and free! Would definitely recommend.

The views here were amazing. Great service. I had the Sunset margarita. 3 of them. Was a little weak. I had to ask to get some tequila added to my third one. Tasted great though. The burger was amazing. I think it was called the French onion burger. Best I had in a while. The fried tasted like McDonalds French fries. I hope healthier lol. My friends had the tacos, they said they didn't like it. I didn't have it so I can't speak for it. One friend got the chicken fingers as well and said they were good. We went there for a bday happy hour. The drinks were $10 each but after happy hour they $18 each. That's when I had to stop lol. I'd come again during happy hour, which is from 5-7PM, grab a burger. Enjoy the views. And have a good time. You get a great view of DC and the Capitol. I highly recommend it.

The Upstairs at The Morrow Review: Fantastic Rooftop Vibes (4.5/5) The Upstairs at The Morrow is a rooftop bar that I absolutely love. The vibes are wonderful, and the view of NoMa is fantastic. The drinks and food are good and well thought out. The French burger with beef jus is probably one of the best I've had in the city, accompanied by delicious frites. We also tried the strawberry shortcake, which was just okay. The service was fast and friendly, and they accommodated us as walk-ins. Honestly, you go for the vibes--the views are incredible, and the decor is luxurious throughout the bar and hotel, featuring clean modern finishes. The DJ that night added to the lively atmosphere. I also appreciated that all the dishware was high-quality plastic, which felt really well thought out for a rooftop setting. Disclaimer: I worked at Le Clou, the associated restaurant, for about a week before leaving. I wasn't the biggest fan of Chef Nic, but I will say that the burger was damn good.

Definitely enjoyed myself and this could be a nice date night spot with the fire pit tables and views of the Capital and Washington monument.

The hostess greeted me and asked if I'd ever been to the restaurant before. She directed me to the back counter where I was able to review the menu and place my order. The server at this register was also very nice. I liked the texture of the rice bowls and everything was cooked well. However, the portions for everything were smaller than I expected for the price. Bartaco offers items with mushrooms, falafel, and cauliflower. However I think it would be great if they could offer something with tofu as there is not a protein option for vegans. The chips and guacamole were decent but nothing special. Interesting that the chips come as large pieces instead of as individual chips. I'd maybe stop in again if I was nearby but I'm not sure I'm eager to return.

The service was ok, we had to tell our server we weren't seeing him enough, there's a 2 hour limit and we weren't getting a chance to order more drinks. After that he kept the drinks coming. WARNING! You DO NOT get to choose what items you want from the ayce brunch menu, they bring every single dish out and they do it at a pace that you barely get a chance to enjoy anything. Every dish is loaded with fillers and barely any meat. Every dish has a similar flavor of chilli, lime and cilantro. I say this with the upmost respect to this restaurant, the only good thing about the brunch were the churros and they don't give you that until you're ready to leave. The chicken and waffles were almost good but the sauce on the chicken with the waffle just ruins it. The steak and eggs were ok and you only get a 1oz piece of steak. Birria tacos were just ok and the fish taco was ok. Everything else was not worth it. A lot of items went to waste. If we could've chose exactly what we wanted, it might have been better. This would also add to why the service did not start off well because our server gave us our first drink and left. After that, every item from the brunch menu were just getting dropped off by food runners. It became overwhelming. We didn't even have room on the table for all of that. Then we also had to ask for new plates because we did not want to mix the flavors of every dish. The drinks were also not good, I had margaritas for my drink of choice and they are so sour and filled with cheap tequila... respectfully for 70$ a person you're better off ordering à la carte. The restaurant is beautiful though, great for pictures and the food is colorful as well but the flavors are just not that good and you're ultimately paying for a bunch of food that you don't really even want nor enjoy. I really hope they adjust this because I heard it was 10x better in the past.

But hold on - they have a roster that will leave you full, even if you are a self-professed carnivore. I got a trio of different options and loved every one of them. The prices are reasonable (for this area) as well. I also like the space. It was bright and spacious, with almost an independent coffee shop vibe. If I needed to telework, I could see myself hanging here (but eating tacos instead of sipping lattes). Put away any misconceptions about 'vegan' and try it.

Sadly, we were presented with brunch menus, so it was a breakfast burrito for me and the breakfast tacos for her. I was remarkably hungry, so the burrito was eaten (and quickly). But truth be told, it's standard Mexican fare made with breakfast ingredients. No more description necessary - you've had this before and you'll have it again.
