I had Kettle One on the rocks as they had just run out of Goose. Service was nice and friendly. The food I saw come to people looked like it would be good and nice portions. They did have a decent amount of table to dine at based on the size of the bar. I liked the downstairs vibe and ambiance with the dark wood and bar almost all the way down one aide of the place. Came to the bar on a whim and I think as a dive bar, it is a bit pricy but adequate. They boast having the best burger in dc but it was so wet I had to use a fork and knife (and still not the most flavorful), and service was really slow. Their music was also so low, we couldn't hear touch tunes we paid for. read more

Friends and I were searching high and low for a bar that was playing John Cenas final match--finally the day of the match we see an event at this bar we've never heard of. We walk up and go down the steps to the basement pub, which is decorated for Christmas and has an incredibly homey divey vibe (which I am a big fan of). We were there ALL night trying the nachos, funnel cake fries, Caesar, quesadilla, and drinks. The quesadilla and funnel cake fries were my favorites. Everything was phenomenal, they had a great menu selection for food, beer, wine, mules, and cocktails. The cocktails menu tends to lean into whiskey and gin, but you can ask for other drinks like a spritz or espresso martini and they can make them. service was great at first , but as the evening went on, it deteriorated dramatically. the level of rudeness and unprofessionalism we experienced at the end of our meal was genuinely shocking. as someone who works in the service industry, I understand that bad nights happen, but there is no excuse for treating guests this way, on a friday night happy hour (and our party spent a considerable amount), we should not be told to be quiet. i understand the logistics of restaurant etiquette, but this is a bar, not a restaurant to expect to have a friday family-friendly dinner. we waited an excessive amount of time simply trying to find our server so we could pay our bill. after waiting with no sign of her, we left cash on the table and began to leave. she then ran after us, accusing us of not leaving enough money. when we handed her more than the amount she claimed was owed (plus tip), she simply rolled her eyes, took the money, and walked away. i hope they do better. read more

I absolutely love the vibe of places like these---it's the kind of bars you see on TV and in movies where it's cozy, people are playing pool, it's got a hometown bar feel, warm booths, low-hanging decorations, affordable drinks, personalized service, and owned by locals. They're not bothered by big businesses like OpenTable or Resy for reservations. I emailed the owner, and he got me a table. Simple! The space is large for where it is in downtown DC. It doesn't have that annoying bougieness with $20 drinks and fancy drink glasses and garnishes. The food is good, unassuming, and served fast. The drinks are varied, tasty, and affordable. The service is friendly, warm, and genuine. I am totally coming back and recommending it to everyone I know. read more

But otherwise I ordered the jerk chicken with Bbq sauce and fries. It wasn't what I expected but at the same time I didn't know what to expect. It wasn't bad though. I also ordered the I street breeze and and another drink. One friend ordered a cheeseburger with tator tots, another ordered a quesadilla, a chicken Caesar wrap, and I believe a Philly steak and cheese sandwhich. Nice little underground bar! This place has probably been around for a long time. Farragut West metro is about a minute walk away. Farragut North metro is about a 5 minute walk You have to walk down steps to go into the bar. I was there on a Thursday @ 130. The bar/restaurant was at 70% full. Folks began leaving prob 2 from lunch. They have happy hour. I got the nachos, good. Came with a spicy sauce on the side. Good. Bartender (maybe his name was Eric or Eddie) was amazing! Friend had chicken wings. They smell good and sounded hella crunchy. lol. This would be a perfect neighborhood bar gem. I would def. come back! read more

I've been having lunch here for decades, but the pandemic kept me (and almost everyone else who works in DC) away. But now we're back in the office, DC no longer is a ghost town, and I'm happy to find that the food and service at the bottom line is still outstanding. I walk in and Big Al knows to bring me iced tea, a cup of their fabulous chili (with cheese but no onions) and then I just have to figure out WHICH burger/wrap/sandwich to order. The new staff is catching on quickly to the casual and friendly culture that makes the place special. It's one of those places you have to search out, and it's worth the hunt. read more

Fun bar for a nightcap. Head down to steps to the basement location. This is a very casual spot. Been here for years according to my friends. They pour a good Guinness. Nine dollars for a pint. $12 for your typical cocktail. Or $13 or $14 if you go up a shelf. Fast and friendly service. Plenty of TVs for sports ball watching. I went here to watch some Steelers football on a Sunday. This is actually a Bengals bar so it was not crowded at all as the Bengals had played at 1 and the Steelers played at 4:25pm. Keep in mind there were only about 12 people total in the bar while we were there. Our waiter was great and immediately knew to get a high chair for the baby (high chair was pretty clean too!). The tap selection is minimal but I do order a Peroni and my s/o ordered a Guinness on tap. Both good and frosty. We ordered the wings as appetizer with the sweet/spicy sauce they came with and they were good! I ordered the burger with bacon and cheese and s/o ordered a steak and cheese. His steak and cheese was tiny. Like the smallest Sheetz/Wawa sandwich. Panera might be bigger. My burger was decent but I ordered it well done (I don't trust new spots to cook it right) and it was a little dry. I was starving so I still ate the whole thing and it was a decent sized burger. Fries came with both and were the shoestring fries similar to Steak 'n Shake. They were good and fresh. Our waiter's daughter and grandson stopped by to see him and it was the baby's 3rd birthday. Him and my son bonded over just being babies and they were kind enough to share some birthday cake with us. I would go back for wings and drinks. Maybe a medium well burger too. read more

I had the hamburger ($12) with cheddar (+1). It wasn't knock your socks off good, but it definitely scratched my burger itch. The fries were crispy but just a bit on the salty side. The environment was just okay. It was a bit dark (underground bar setup, but still) and the music was loud enough that I had some trouble hearing the people who weren't right next to me. It's a Bengals fan bar, so it's an excellent spot for Bengals fans to meet up! After each touchdown, the bar gets super loud and sings songs, and they even bring around free shots for everyone 21+. An underground bar that we found by accident as it was near our hotel. They were open until midnight on a Tuesday night which was nice to know as a lot of bars in the area were closed. There's a good atmosphere and plenty of open space. Don't think you're going to feel claustrophobic in this underground bar. It was awesome to see great and professional service. We were served by Ivan who is a legend and also very welcoming which we loved as we were new to the area. I'd be happy to come back here again next time I'm in the area. read more

Found myself wandering around near the Farragut West area on a Tuesday night. There is NOTHING open late on a Tuesday night in that area... except for Bottom Line! The vibe is sort of like a basement frat party. But it's a wonderfully divey and unpretentious spot. The bartenders and patrons were all very cool! I ordered a cocktail off the menu and they made it for me. It was delicious! This bar has food, happy hour and drink specials. They still had their Christmas decorations up in early February which felt weird... but I didn't hate it. In summery... I liked Bottom Line. It's chill, nothing fancy and stays open late. My friend and I happened upon this place due to its proximity to our location and our progressing hunger. Let me tell you, it was not disappointing, neither in its service nor in its food. The thought of an underground bar raises disconcerting thoughts and major concerns of one entering a dingy, shady, cramped dungeon with less than kosher people residing inside. However, that idea is far from the reality of this place. Once inside, my friend and I noticed that the entire place was perfectly lit, not too bright but not too dim. The patrons appeared as if they had all arrived here directly after work with each of them wearing mainly business attire and seeming to be enjoying themselves. Needless to say, we felt a little underdressed since we had just strolled in after a night of touring the monuments. Nevertheless, a waiter welcomed us, showed us a table, and immediately introduced us to the establishment. His timing, manners, and attention to us were impeccable. He even introduced me to an item that was no longer on the menu (it was the club sandwich and I highly recommend it). One word of warning. The bathroom, unisex style, is extremely small with one urinal and one toilet. Now, when I say small I mean small, like tiny. So, if nature calls watch out. Overall, our experience was top-notch. This place is so fun! Love the dive bar vibes with it being underground. The food is reasonably priced and tasty. I got the nachos. They were 18 dollars, but two people could eat off the plate and be full. Super tasty! My husband got their burrito and enjoyed it as well.
