I actually stumbled into this bar late on a weekday night. They were the only bar only on the block and ended up being the perfect after-dinner spot. My date and I sat at the bar and ordered drinks. There were only a few other patrons so the energy felt relaxed and intimate. We were able to catch a few minutes of a Women's World Cup game, which was awesome since it didn't feel like a traditional sport bar. The lighting was low, the bar was backlight with greenery, and the cocktail selection was unique. I liked everything about this bar and I'll definitely post another visit when I'm on H. St.

Please do yourself a favor and get the truffle fries here. We also got high noon and a beer here. Service was friendly and vibe was chill :). No happy hour though nice nice drink selection.

I made sure I checked in here to get the reminder to leave the review. Honestly was just walkin around and stumbled on this bar. Seemed cool so walked in. Bar was packed but there was seating elsewhere around. Simply asked the female bartender if they had a happy hour menu as most bars do..I didn't think it was that far fetch of a question...but she did. She made a joke about me inquiring about happy hour as if I couldn't afford a regular priced drink. I was overdue for a drink so I brushed her unprofessionalism off and ordered a drink ..it was basic but ehhh ..she def will ruin your customer retention with such ill behavior Signed, A person who will not be returning

Annie is a gem and 100% the reason why I went back two nights in a row. The dumplings are excellent and bursting with flavor. The nachos are also very good. Wouldn't necessarily get the tots again, but the portion is quite large. It's a cozy little spot with attentive servers and great drinks.

Annie literally remembered us from more than 2 years ago!!!!!! Still my fav painkiller - tasty and strong. Service is obviously impeccable. Ambiance is changing - the menu is new - feels a bit more boogie and I'm not mad about it :)

The bartender/servicer was by himself but he made sure everyone is served with great services. Five stars for him. We order mess totes, buffalo wings and hot honey shrimp. All delicious. Nice small bar, with good atmosphere.

Very very loud. Almost annoying loud. Somewhat of a hip place. Seating is normal for the buildings on the rest of the street. The pour of the Tito's into their mules is more than fair. The food came out fast (just wings) they were normal nothing special. Each time I needed a another mule the bartender was right there. They have bartenders here not just beertenders.

Shrimp and pork dumplings and Wifey cocktail. Dumbo kings were great! Sweet and spicy taste.

Service was amazing when I went. I arrived literally at 10PM when their kitchen closed and my bartender still let me sneak an order of dumplings in. It was so worth it! My first time here and glad I found it. Cute cocktail bar with speakeasy-ish vibes with reasonable prices. Will def be back!

Loved these cocktails, especially because they had green chartreuse which is hard to find at a bar. They made amazing cocktails with it and had creative options you don't find most places. Definitely will go back.

I live in the neighborhood and finally came in to checkout Haymaker. The service was friendly and attentive and they made great recommendations on cocktails and food. I had the pork slides and truffle fries and ate them so fast because they were AMAZING! The cocktail I had was a "Wifey" and it was very light and refreshing. The atmosphere was great too, the lights were low and there was music but it wasn't so loud it made it hard to talk. I'll definitely be back!

It has a cool vibe, dark and cozy. The food is outstanding for a bar, great cocktails and the bartenders are very nice and attentive here you won't be waiting forever for a glass of wine. The food menu could have more food options and also some desert.

I think they take reservations but we were able to grab a bar spot. Are drinks pricey? What do you think? It's a cocktail bar in DC. The drinks we tried were pretty tasty, even the mezcal one which I thought was a refreshing take. The wall shows some of the drinks on the menu and the ingredients/glass it comes in which I thought was a nice touch. Bartenders were friendly but not too chatty as they were super busy but you never waited long for a drink. The bourbon drink with the whipped honey was our favorite but the gin drink that was pink was also fantastic. For food I did try the buffalo chicken dip, pretty large and tasty (not too spicy) and loved the super crisp celery and the fritos. Clean, trendy bathrooms, nice vibes throughout the whole spot for pictures, great for a night cap or pre-dinner drink.

They don't take revelations and the place fills up fast. It's a very cute spot and feels so comfortable and fun. Our bartender was Gaylan and he was great--had great reccs, laughed with us a bit, all around great guy. The 'let me just say this' was so soo good! It tasted like a rainbow--just bright and with a really delicious after taste. I should have stopped at the rose but after my trying my friend's, i had to have one! We initially came for happy hour, but moved to the cocktail menu. The hh was a bit limited, but the drinks were priced overall pretty reasonably for the area. My one complaint is the wine glasses were so teeny. Overall though, I would recommend this bar. Bonus: cheese balls when you sit down! I believe there is also a limited food menu (think nachos) for the after work or late night crowd.

Providencia has been on my to-try list forever, originally recommended by a bartender friend ages ago, and it wasn't until a recent trip that I finally was able to work it into my schedule to come for pre-dinner drinks and light bites. The spot is tucked away in a back alley off H Street, and honestly I'm not sure I would've found it if my Uber hadn't dropped me at the door. Reservations are required and you have to put down a $10 nonrefundable deposit that goes toward your bill, which makes sense because the space is small. Ideal for 1-3 people, not a group spot. The Salvadoran/Taiwanese flavor combo infused throughout this menu is its calling card. It's such a unique flavor combination and genuinely something I haven't seen before, and the menu does a beautiful job of letting both cuisines shine without one overpowering the other. The drinks are inventive but actually well-balanced, and the food does the same thing in small, snack-y portions perfect for pairing with tasty cocktails. My (kind of indulgent, but well-worth it) pre-dinner drinks order: - Lights of the Night Market (Ford's gin, Mal Bien mezcal, genepy, pandan, coconut). A great intro to how well the Salvadoran/Taiwanese flavors play together. The pandan is so pleasant here without being overpowering. - Run Bing with Nai Nai (Salvadoran white rum, Nardini rabarbaro, Licor 43, mazapán, oolong tea, lemon, milk, served with a little mazapán candy on the side). Nutty, beautifully balanced, sweeter than I normally go for but so unique and well-made that I didn't mind it at all. - The Big Chip and Salsa (tomatillo salsa, matcha chip): So fun and so tasty, a great small bite if you don't want real food. - Roasted eggplant pupusa (eggplant, squash blossom, gruyère, tomatillo). SO delicious. A really lovely mix of salty, tangy, and sweet! I'd come back just for this. - Plantain & hojicha tiramisu. Looked like a work of art, incredibly tasty but not heavy. The hojicha flavor is lovely and light and works so well with the plantain. It doesn't taste overly banana-y, which is always a worry of mine with plantain desserts. Overall, Providencia is doing something genuinely different flavor-wise than any other cocktail bar in DC right now and doing it extremely well. The cocktails are creative without feeling gimmicky, the food is thoughtful and delicious, and the whole experience feels intimate, cozy, laid back, and personable. The staff was so kind and helpful. Here's everything we enjoyed and didn't enjoy as much ... + IPA beer-- really delicious $6 + oyster rockefeller-- didn't really taste the oyster and they were tiny + fries--- not crispy enough and could use a little more flavor/salt + lamb chops-- also just ok, small and only had 2 pieces with a small salad +butter lettuce cesar-- meh, nothing to really rave about + smashburger-- 3/5 we were told that the locals rave about their smashburger as one of the best in town buttttt idk about all that lol.
