Great cocktail menu (all cocktails $14) and Leighton is an excellent bartender. The amaranth was my favorite and not too sweet at all (plus it was gorgeous). The basement space is cozy and dark. There's not a ton of seats but there weren't a lot of people here when we went on a weekday so I'd guess reservations are the way to go on weekends. I'd absolutely return here with friends.

Dram & Grain is a speakeasy style bar under Imperial in NW DC. The bar downstairs is very nice and intimate setting. The drinks are good and dessert is amazing. Highly recommend for after dinner. Tip is included and there is also a random service fee.

A beautiful bar in a great location. A pleasant surprise of quiet in Adams Morgan! However, we were very disappointed with the cocktails. At $11 for happy hour we would have expected much better but they were all too perfumed or a poor combination of flavors!

I was in DC for the weekend and had a friend who worked at Dram & Grain so we stopped by for an after show drink. We showed up at 11pm and they weren't taking walk ins, luckily my friend had a table for us and the host showed us to the entrance. From the street you wouldn't even know this establishment existed, once inside the Imperial you are walked to the side of the building into a staircase the leads to the basement. We were immediately greeted and picked a table. I didn't know what to expect when showing up but I was instantly pleased with the chill, speak easy vibes. We were strictly here for drinks so my review is based on that alone. Our server was very informative and helpful when it came to drink selection. The atmosphere itself was fabulous, dimmed lights with candle lit tables really set the mood. Each of our drinks were so different and uniquely handcrafted, it was the perfect setting for a night cap. We visited on their third night open and everything we great, the staff was super knowledgeable, you'd think they'd been open for a while. I talked to the server a little about that business itself and it sounds like they have some exciting things planned for the future so next time I'm in town I'll be intrigued to see what more they have to offer.

I really liked the ambiance. They have alot of different types of whiskey. I wish the speakeasy was still open though

The bartender was the one who made the drink menu, and told us the inspiration and stories behind each drink. Not only were they incredibly tasty and complex, but his explanations served to enhance the experience. For food, we ordered fried green tomatoes, calamari, the jack smash burger, the crawfish rangoons, and the fig and pig. All were excellent. It was my friends first time eating fried green tomatoes, as well as any sort of Rangoon, and he gave them both the stamp of approval!

And he liked his whiskey choices although they were out of the first one he ordered. I started with a whiskey sour- a drink I haven't had since I was at an Italian wedding! It was delicious. The I got the grilled Barramundi and it did not disappoint. The portion was big. We finished with an amazing pecans pie In which they brought out extra whip cream upon request. Highly recommend.

Four drinks and one meat and cheese board topped us over with tip at 200 bucks. We had gone for multiple dinners and lunches over several days in DC and did not spend that much on an actual meal..... Pros- -the meat and cheese board was massive, had plenty and was more than enough for two people and became somewhat of a meal. -The drinks were very good heavy pours. -The vibe is great - kind of loud but in a good way -The bathrooms are IMMACULATE Cons- -The table service was a bit touch and go; seemed like there was no rhyme or reason for which servers had which tables. -I sent back my first drink because it had very noticeably had hair in it, and the server gave me a hard time about it - there was clearly hair floating in the glass I'm not paying $25 for a drink with hair -service was also super slow and we felt forgotten at times at our table *if there is an event or wedding at the hotel that definitely can add to being overcrowded and slow *take the time to walk around and check out the cartoons - and make sure you take home a coaster or two!!!!
