St. Vincent is a absolutely gorgeous. It has a cozy, warm cabin vibe that you might expect at a ski resort. All it's missing is a fireplace. The highlights were the mac and cheese and the fries especially when they were hot. I would definitely come back just for either one of those. Updating my review based on a recent visit and was surprised at what a different experience I had this go around. I am in the local Petworth family group. They organized an outing of parents to come here on a weeknight and arranged a table on the back covered patio. I think what I found frustrating, as others have noted, was the only way to order here is by scanning the QR code. It is so impersonal. But what is even more difficult to believe is that this is a wine bar. Yet, you can't order a glass of wine from that QR code. You can get a cocktail... A full bottle. Oh, and you can even order a tote bag. But a single glass of wine? Nope, it says you have to go upstairs inside at the bar if you want one. There were single parents joining that night since they were splitting duties to allow the other to be out that night. It was a Thursday night and while it would have been a wild night to drink a bottle solo, most of the solo parents opted not to get anything to drink at all since they didn't want to leave the group. They came to socialize, not split from the group and weren't feeling a cocktail or tote. The service was bad this recent visit. As soon as we sat down, rather than any type of friendly exchanges, the server said we had until only 9 PM to order food and they were strict on that so we should get the order in now or we wouldn't get anything. Also the bar closed at 9:30 PM. Really? Is this DC or Salt Lake City? I think the final straw for me (and everyone) was that at 9 PM, they turned off the back patio heat. And turned on the ceiling fan inside. It was in the low 40s that night. This is just bad service and we all agreed that we didn't feel welcomed. We all closed our tabs and headed to another nearby establishment, and had a much better time and they kept the heat on for us. I'm sad to write this. I love having a nearby wine bar. My previous experience was great (though it was just me and my partner and we sat inside at the bar). Would I go here again? Maybe, but I'd say it's no longer at the top of my list. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for a larger outing or even a small group since the current way this bar is set up is not ideal. A girlfriend and I stopped in on a Sunday for brunch and we literally stayed all day! it is easily one of the best spots in DC for food, wine, and music. For brunch. We ordered through ToastTab. We enjoyed Kir Yianni "Akakies" Xinomavro Rosé, Shrimp, Crab and Andouille Grits, Coffee Crème Brûlée, Breakfast Potatoes, Confit Fried Chicken and Waffle, and a Miso Caesar Salad topped with Fried Chicken. St. Vincent Wine Bar is a cute little gem I've been trying to get to for a while and finally did. Its a cute indoor/outdoor set up where they have live music at times. Reservations are recommended. You can purchase wine tastings, wines by the glass or bottle. They have a huge stock from their wine store downstairs as well. My only complaint is I arrived about 15min before they opened and I was unaware. As I was outside struggling to figure out how to enter a man watched me and finally told me in a rude tone that they weren't open yet. I found him to be unnecessarily rude. When they finally did open I learned that he was part of the staff there which was surprising. I would definitely return to try some other things on the menu. read more

They don't have traditional servers though and you have to order on the app. We decided to share a bottle of rose and for starters we got the cauliflower and Caesar salad. Both were good. I really enjoyed the Cauliflower. For dinner, I got the wagyu brisket bolognese. It was good. I wasn't blown away. I enjoyed it but was expecting a little more "oomph" from the wagyu brisket. My friend got the lobster bucatini and liked it. We ended up getting a second bottle and spent the night talking in their garden patio enjoying the vibe. We stayed until before they closed. It was lovely. My only critique is because you don't really have servers no one comes to you or explains the menu, etc. We had to waive someone down to ask a question before ordering on the app so that was a little annoying. Cute date night spot or just a night out with friends! I remember hearing so much about this place during the pandemic. They have a huge outdoor space, and this was very important during those times. Visited here this past weekend for the first time. We had a reservation and initially sat at a table by the window upstairs. It was cold so we were inside. There's a QR code to scan and pay and your orders come to the table. I like technology for the most part but sometimes I prefer to interact with a server. We asked to have someone help us with some recommendations. Someone did come up to help us and she was very nice. We still ended up moving to the bar and the night went much smoother from there on out. We were able to engage with the bartenders, Ashley and Allison, who were amazing by the way. They have very unique wines and there's a cocktail list. There's even a wine shop on the first floor. They don't offer flights here, which I think they should. There's just a few wines by the glass and everything else is by the bottle. Our fave of the night was a red - Two Sheperds Carignan Old Vine. Definitely recommend that one. There's a food menu, but we didn't order any food. On select nights, there's live music! It's definitely a more casual/smart casual vibe. I can't wait to come back again. This is designed for people who don't want any contact with wait staff, but are okay with paying a mandatory 20% gratuity. That is insane! We had a very disappointing experience at St. Vincent Wine Bar. We made a reservation for a friend's birthday and initially were slated to be outside, but it quickly became clear that it was extremely cold and windy. Because of that, we went upstairs to the bar area, which is first come, first served. The bar was completely empty, and the bartender explicitly told us it was fine to stand while waiting. Shortly after, a staff member named Kirsten approached us and told us we could not stand at the bar and that everyone needed a seat, directly contradicting what the bartender had said. She was rude and inflexible, despite the fact that the bar was empty and our group had just arrived. We were then forced back outside to a tent that staff claimed was heated. It was not. The tent was cold, very windy, and honestly felt unsafe due to how exposed it was. They should not take reservations there in the winter. We tried to make it work but left after about 30 minutes because the conditions were so uncomfortable. Before leaving, we checked the upstairs bar again and it was still empty. On our way out, we calmly shared our frustration about being turned away from an empty indoor space, especially on a random Monday night when the place was clearly not busy. Kirsten responded rudely again and showed no interest in resolving the situation. They ended up losing our entire group's business, and we would have happily stayed, ordered drinks, and celebrated if we had been treated reasonably. Poor communication, unnecessary rigidity, and unprofessional service made what should have been a fun birthday outing a letdown. We will not be returning. read more

St. Vincent's has been on my list of restaurants to check out for some time. It's not very far from me, and I could even walk there if I wanted to. Looks are deceiving because the space seems small from the outside, but there are two floors and my boyfriend and I were seated in the upstairs bar which is a bit more quaint. The aesthetic is dark, intimate and has rustic features, so cute for a date night. I would say the service is ok, but not exceptional in the sense that it's not a traditional dining experience where you get checked in or asked how the food is. You scan the QR code, and then the food is promptly brought to your table. I think our food came out within 5 minutes of us ordering it which was very surprising. We expected the food to take a while to come out so we finished it rather quickly. I ordered the lobster bucatini which was a great dish and very savory, while my boyfriend ordered the macaroni and cheese that had breadcrumbs on top. That was also very rich and creamy. For dessert, I had the coffee creme brûlée which definitely had a strong taste of coffee. The brûlée was very light and almost creamy. I prefer when it has the firm crust before you break into it, but this didn't have that. If I was to go back, I'd probably wait a bit before ordering so I can appreciate the music. I specifically came to see the live jazz performance, but from where we were seated we couldn't actually see the band. They were around the corner in a smaller section with a few people watching. I assumed they played in a way where they were visible to all. I think I went in expecting one thing, and experienced something different. I definitely would return again, but be better prepared in terms of when I order food or just going to watch the live set. read more

I've been wanting to go to St.Vincent Wine for soooo long and I finally got the chance to stop in with friends after a yoga class. The front of the shop makes you think that the space is very small and will have limited space. When you walk into their back outdoor space you quickly realize that that is not the case at all. There were at least 20 tables in their outdoor area and it is the perfect place to be on a beautiful Sunday. Here are the things that we loved, + Live music on Sundays, yes and yes! Such a nice touch + The mimosas were pretty good and I like that you can request as many glasses as you need and can share the bottle with multiple people + Order from your phone and close your tab. This feature makes it very convenient when eating out with friends or if you're hungry and don't want to wait for the waiter it makes it so easy + Truffle fries were great, I just wish the portion was a little larger And the things we didn't love as much, + I wasn't really a fan of the waffle and chicken and it was pretty pricey but my mom enjoyed it I will definitely be back. That said, once we ordered, the food came out blazingly fast. - the bolognese was delicious, the pasta was cooked well with a solid sauce to pasta ratio and a good peppery undertone. the black miso cacio pepe had a different pasta shape in the photo so that bummed me out but these noodles were so soft and almost melted - the homemade potato chips and horseradish dip to me was everything and more. This place is horrible! There is no waiter or waitress. You order everything from a very non-user friendly app. You can't make any alterations to the menu items. For example, they have bread crumbs on all of their pasta items. You can't request that the bread crumbs be removed. They try to charge you for wine by the bottle. St Vincent had a vast selection of wines and a versatile menu of food pairings to match. I prefer white most days so I tried a couple different varieties. The Sauvignon Blanc Being my favorite. The young ladies behind the bar were knowledgeable and helpful. Majority of the wines are for purchase by the bottle so bring friends! I ordered the ricotta and warm olives to share and it was creamy, salty goodness. I also had the fried chicken which was crunchy and well seasoned. A few truffle fries and it was a feast! I ordered the Shrimp, Crab, Andouille Sausage Grits, but the description said it was made with bbq-miso poached shrimp, lobster, andouille sausage. However it had neither crab nor lobster. It had shrimp and slivers of sausage. So though it was good, I did not get what I ordered. And of course no one comes around to ask you how is everything. You order on your phone, someone brings your food and that's it. I had to get up and go to the bar to order a mimosa since it's not on the menu other than ordering a whole bottle of champagne with a side of OJ. QR code ordering has killed customer service. And why is there an automatic 20% gratuity when there is very little service? By the way this is my third time here and every time there's something lacking about the food or experience. I arrived around 6 and it was empty, however, before being seated I was asked about reservations. I was then escorted to the back open spacious area--the woman at the front told me unless I wanted to hear live music, outside was best. Oddly, when I went to use the restroom and leave.. I never heard music inside. Strange. Anyway, I sat, no one came to me and then I figured out there was a QR code. About 15 minutes of sitting with no greeting of any sort , explanation of the menu, opportunities to ask questions... the woman who sat me comes and says "I forgot to mention scan the code". I'd figured it out at that point. I noticed the 20 percent automatic gratuity--I don't appreciate being forced to tip, especially in an environment that has extremely sparse service. Let me be clear, I tip whenever I go out, but to force it upon us AND have lack luster service is an odd procedure. The outdoor area is spacious and the ambiance is pleasant, but once the sun went down, several large rats started running around under the tables -- not exactly the atmosphere we were hoping for. They did have free bug spray to use which was nice. The wine list is only available on a phone, which made scrolling through it frustrating, and there were no servers around to answer questions or offer recommendations. It felt like if we wanted any guidance, we would've had to track someone down upstairs. We ordered the olives and ricotta toast, which were fine. The miso truffle cacio e pepe, however, was bland and needed salt. It came out within a few minutes, which made it feel pre-prepared...not what I'd expect from a $22 small pasta dish. Between the pests, the lack of service, and the overpriced food, the experience just didn't live up to the setting. The menu was cool, could have used some more options. I absolutely love the toast ordering app and the ability to keep a running tab, order at your leisure and close out when you are ready. I didn't see the option to just order a specific spirit neat (You have to go to the bar for that). I opted to go on Monday I figured it would be the slowest of the days that they offered music and give me the opportunity to really check out the venue without it being so crowded, and it did.
