First time stopping here! What a fun, local bar! It was St Patrick's Day and I wanted a Reuben. Tune Inn was named a couple times, so I checked it out! Ordered through the Toast app. Easy to order and customize with type of bread and wither corned beef or turkey. Comes wit fries but I upgraded to onion rings for a $1 more. When I got there, it was hopping! What a fun, celebratory vibe for St Patrick's Day! Fun energy, green cups, and happy people! It's a smaller space, with the bar upfront and seating in the back half. I was helped quickly from one of the bartenders. She went to check on my order and while she was gone I had two other employees ask if I needed help - super friendly and willing to help! I happened to meet the owner, Lisa, who was awesome and introduced me to some of her team. It gave such a fun family feel with everyone there and how I wish I could have stayed for a beer! Next time for sure! The Reuben lived up to what I hoped it would be - balance of sauerkraut, corned beef, Swiss cheese, thousand island, and rye bread. Overall pretty lean meat, which is a huge plus for me. The onion rings - yum! Crispy but still thick onions for a good bite and a nice saltiness to bring out the flavor. This bar/restaurant is awesome and is also a vibe - they have pretty good tater tots and hot dogs as well as other comfort meals like sammiches and the such. Open late too like until 2am maybe. We arrived in town and as always try to find a Guy Fieri restaurant from Diners, Drives and Dives. This place was our least favorite so far out of all the places we have tried that Guy has done a show on. We got the mozzarella sticks, the West Virginian and a Philly cheesesteak. The fries were terrible: no flavor at all. The sauce for the mozzarella sticks tasted like tomato soup , but the sticks themselves were great. The sandwiches were good. The service, well it was the day of the Kentucky Derby so it was on the slower side. To make matters worse we had the table that was shoved in the corner. DDD special! As seen on TV with Giy Fieri. Their secret Sauce was fantastic in the West Virginia Sandwich (roast beef and cheese!). Overall the environment was that of a dive bar, but perfectly decorated for the vibe. Pricing was a little rough for the serving sizes and the experience. But that is DC for you unfortunately. Love this dive! There's limited seating and it's quickly crowded. We watched dozens of folks walk in and walk right back out based on the capacity. The vibe is incredibly cozy, with lots of paintings and decorations that made me feel like I was in someone's (very large) living room. The staff was extremely friendly (in that east coast way) and I would go back for the service alone. Great place to grab a Guiness! Food is great too for the cost. read more

I've only been here for breakfast (opens at 8 AM, 7 days/week). The fact that Tune Inn even has a breakfast service available on Cap Hill is notable. I patronize this place in part due to this, but it's also got to have decent food and service too. Tune Inn delivers on that. Candidly, I've not had a drink here -- and make no mistake, it's a bar -- so, its alcohol offerings aren't what attracts me. However, no one can walk into this space and not see -- or perhaps choose to sit at -- the massive wooden, old timey bar that dominates the front space. The Tune wouldn't be the Tune without it. There's always some sort of philosopher-type sitting here sharing his world views; along with firefighters, federal staffers, construction workers, locals, etc., -- the common man and woman -- and that's why I return. The Tune, of course, features fab music from past. Possessing the 2nd oldest liquor license in DC, it's steeped in all kinds of history and was a former speakeasy. It's a fun meet-up spot that requires no reservations. The same family has owned and managed it for 70+ years. The breakfast fare is pretty standard and reliable. My go-to: Tune breakfast or steak & eggs. There's usually laughter, friendly debating, and a welcoming spirit here that I appreciate. A small group of us were at the Capitol on a Wednesday afternoon and wanted to grab some lunch. The first place we wanted to go to was closed for a private party. After a few searches The Tune Inn looked like an acceptable plan b. We were quickly greeted and seated upon arrival. The bartender was also serving as waiter. He was extremely friendly and efficient. Two of us ordered burgers, two ordered salads, and another ordered a sandwich. Portions were very fair to large and a good price point. Ticket times were a little long 20-25 minutes. My burger had a good amount of flavor and I enjoyed my tots. The Tune Inn was good. I wouldn't go out of my way to stop again but I'd eat there again. It has a divey feel to it. I could certainly envision having a few beers here if I stopped at the right time. I doubt anyone would have an awful experience here. read more

I went for lunch on a weekday and I really enjoyed the zucchini sticks and special burger. The French dip was a bit dry. Great ranch if that's something you love. Definitely a cool dive bar atmosphere and menu but staff were very friendly and seemed to know a lot of the customers. I'd recommend for a simple and quick lunch. Started our DC tours with a great lunch. The Diners Drive Ins and Dives DC location was a great stop. The service was great. The hamburger was good, just a little overcooked but very tasty. Fun place that is really one of the only "diners" you can find within the city limits. No frills place that has great food. You might think I'm crazy -- but they have a turkey dinner special during the week that really hits the spot. It's enough for two meals easily. I love it! Really friendly and down to earth staff, attentive fast service, and yummy comfort food. This is my second time and I can't believe the 1st time I was adventurous and trusting enough to try an oyster po boy. It was a special (not on the menu) and the fried oysters were surprisingly very generously sized and fresh tasting! I can't recall my side, but it was also good. This time I got the Beer Battered Burger that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives with the sweet potato fries. Chef's kiss. And the fries were very good too ( I am a very picky fry person). This burger was clearly hand formed, fat, cooked just right for a fried situation ( I prefer normal ones a little more rare), the batter crispiness was pleasant and that beer infused taste and aroma just gives that comforting hug of umami. I stopped here for a drink with a friend while walking around DC and had the best time. Even though we didn't get any food and I only had a cider and he had one beer, the service and general vibes were so pleasant that I certainly want to do back again. All the bartenders were friendly and the music was just loud enough. It is a dive bar, for all intent and purposes so it doesn't look or feel posh. Stopped by for a quick drink and snack this evening. Service was slow, but expected. They had limited beer selections and I got an ice tea. Shared the chicken tenders and tots platter with Ragz. The chicken was delicious - just what I would expect from a greasy spoon bar. The tots were super yummy too, very crispy and light. Came with ranch and we asked for buffalo sauce on the side. The bar has a cool vibe and a lot of the patrons seemed locals and request visitors. I think I might come back again to check out their drinks and other menu items. read more

My wife picked out this place for lunch. It is classified as a "Dive Bar" on Untappd. That doesn't mean that it's bad. When we entered, I got the feeling we were amidst the young and elite of Washington. Lots of people in suits and dresses being loud. I ordered a beer battered burger with fries and my wife got the West Virginia roast beef sandwich. I also ordered a DC Brau Hefeweizen. It was crowed, no empty seats, and it seemed like one lady was handling the entire crowd. It did take a bit to get my beer. The food finally came, and after I took my first bite I realized I didn't get what I ordered. However, what I got was fantastic. It was a burger with a sausage patty and an egg with Swiss cheese. I mentioned it to the waitress, but let her know what I ordered was good and I wasn't complaining, but I was more concerned that I got someone else's meal. She returned and assured me that I didn't get someone else's meal, but there was a miscommunication between the computer and the kitchen. It's all good. The burger was fantastic. She actually comped the beer for me, which wasn't necessary, but I appreciated the gesture. Would definitely recommend this place, but maybe a later lunch to avoid the St. Elmo's' Fire crowd. read more

For a dive bar, it's excellent. In visiting DC and for last two days have stopped there on mu way back to the hotel for a cold beer. Today, I had some dinner and it was perfect. The prices are very reasonable and the service is excellent. Last night, the tall guy was my bartender and very efficient. Tonight, I had the young woman and stocky guy. Both, very helpful and in point. I like the atmosphere, it's very low key and not stuffy. I love DC, but it's quite expensive, especially by the touristy places, which of course I went to on my travels. This place is more down to earth and probably full of the locals in the area who come to get away from the over-priced places and tourists. read more

True locals joint. Pretty good breakfast. It was very quiet on a weekday morning, but service was decent and the crowd was very friendly. Very casual place with a classic diner feel with mostly booths. Somehow I got it into my head that they had high chairs but they do NOT have high chairs, so keep that in mind if you have a little one as we did. Coffee was actually really smooth and decent for diner coffee. I have lived here on the Hill for years but am originally from the South and was craving biscuits. Their biscuits and gravy were nothing amazing, but for a griddle biscuit it was pretty good, and the gravy (though it could have been thicker) had a good tang to it. The pancakes were exemplary and the side of bacon was generous. There aren't a lot of good options for a casual sit-down breakfast on the Hill, especially on weekdays, so I heartily recommend Tune-Inn for that and will update if I get around to trying their classic burgers. read more

Been looking for a local dive bar to call home since moving to the area and unfortunately this is not it. It's always crazy packed which is a great sign, however customer service is extremely lacking. Came for happy hour and was served by Meghan who literally rolled her eyes when we asked at the end if our bill could reflect the happy hour prices since we ordered DURING happy hour. I've worked customer service so I get it when you're overwhelmed and being pulled in every direction during a rush, but it's never that serious to be blatantly rude to patrons. The Tune continues to be my go to dive bar in DC. James is a great bartender who makes a mean Bloody Mary and Long Island Iced Tea. The food here is also pretty decent. They serve breakfast food all day, which is awesome in my opinion. AJ is a regular here and will talk your ear off if you're here early in the day when James is working. Overall, this place is great.
