Great bar to watch some sports and hangout. They have a good group for football on Sundays and saturdays. They can turn any TV to a sport you want to watch as long as it's on direct TV. I came here to watch the ATP tennis finals and it was no issue to watch the match. The bartender was super friendly and attentive, especially since he was the only one working the day I came. They do not have a kitchen any more but there is a Vietnamese restaurant, pizza place, French restaurant and a few other spots right by the bar and you can bring in food. read more

I came in during happy hour where the house cocktails were $6 and select appetizers were $6. I ordered the house bourbon mule, which was pretty refreshing. There was only 1 bartender and doubled as the server when I was there. He did keep up pretty well with taking care of everyone. It's a decent establishment with several tvs and gives a nice dive bar feel. I ordered the grilled cheese and added bacon with fries. About 15 minutes or so, I got my food. I was pretty impressed with the generous portion of bacon on the grilled cheese. The fries were nice and crispy. I ordered another cocktail since it was still happy hour. We made reservations this past Saturday to watch West Ham play. It was bumping. As it was our first time there, we didn't realize you had to go to the bar to order and wish it was something mentioned to us as we sat down. If I was rating just the food it would be closer to a 2; it was just okay. Inconsistent bacon-some overcooked, some barely cooked. Eggs not fully done. I stopped by Across the Pond on a Saturday evening around 8 with a group of friends; what a great spot for a quick hydration break. The bar was pretty empty, so we had our choice of seating at the bar area; we chose a couple of high bar tables and made ourselves at home. The decor and environment is exactly what you'd expect for a pub -- lots of TVs around the bar area playing a variety of games and friendly bar patrons. We got a variety of drinks and everyone was pleased - standard rails were $7ish bucks and other cocktails started at around $9. Of course they have a large variety of beers on tap too. The bartender made a special flavored margarita for a couple of the ladies in our group that they really enjoyed! The food was solid - I had the fried pickle spears and a quick taste of the corned beef sandwich. Fried pickles are tough to get right, but these are done really well; the breading was seasoned well and crispy. I'm not the biggest fan of corned beef but the sandwich was solid, personal bias aside. They have lots of options of standard bar fare. Overall, great place to come in and get a round or 3, would definitely stop by again. read more

Came for trivia night and was bitterly disappointed, which was especially bad because I brought friends from out of town as well. There was only one waiter working for the entire restaurant (+ bartender) so service was incredibly slow. We ordered when the tables were only about 1/4th full and our food took a full 55 minutes to arrive. And during that time no one ever came to check on our drinks or anything and was not concerned about the wait. The food itself was some of the worst food I've had in a long time- most of us couldn't even finish (stale bread, fishy chicken, weirdly sweet mac and cheese?). 20% tip is required on any 'special' nights, which normally I don't mind, but this time kind of stung since I was looking like a chump for bringing guests to such poor service and food. The trivia itself went alright- they had a huge TV and projector but didn't use it at all, we just played from our phones. No theme in advance and things were disorganized at the start but it worked out. The host was on his phone a lot so the timing was weird, but so it goes. IDK if it was just a bad night or what was going on but I definitely won't be returning. Maybe it's better to just come for drinks? Definitely avoid for dinner. read more

Went for the trivia with a group of friends, and it was great. A little cramped but nothing you can really do about that and a testament to how popular the spot is! I got the happy hour sliders and ordered late, 5 minutes before it ended (that's on me). The sliders were all that were left but still came out a reasonable and the waiter was friendly, serving both myself and my friends drinks and food. When I asked why I would be allowed to make a dinner reservation without any dinner being served, they man, though kind, said they probably just needed to take reservations offline. Note: I ordered delivery and everything was well packaged and traveled well. Had the fish and chips, which reminded me of what I had in Ireland. Fish was solid (bonus points for Cod) and the chips were done well. They gave me blue cheese instead of tartar sauce, presumably a mistake, but made up for it by including malt vinegar, a thoughtful touch. Wouldn't have expected ATP to have a good dessert but the bread pudding was delicious. Came with a fantastic blueberry sauce that tasted of real berries, not the typical overly sugary and sweet sauce commonly found. I would say that their rail drinks are a little on the weaker side but then again, they're happy hour drinks. No for the food! Taco Tuesday specials are solid and you can't beat the price! This place was great. It's a bar (full of men) on one side, and the next room had tables and chairs. There was no room at the bar so we grabbed some drinks from the bartender and then a table in the next room. The man working that day could not have been nicer. We were not forgotten about once even though at one point we were the only two on that side. I had the crab cake sandwich and substituted a salad for the fries. It was so good!! The bread was soft so I was able to mush it down and get it all in my mouth. My friend loved her corned beef and cabbage too. She didn't even share... hrmph. We eventually moved to the bar and we ordered dessert. I got the brownie with ice-cream. The brownie was more cakey than brownie so it wasn't my fav, but didn't stop me from eating it all. As is my custom I had an order of fish and chips to go with my cider. Fish was good crispy and well seasoned. Wait staff was attentive, the bartender brought me a water as soon as I walked in. I came in my Friday off in the middle of the day and although there were a few other customers it wasn't too busy. I'd love to come back in the summer when I imagine the picture windows will be wide open. I'd love to try a few of the other things on the menu like the bangers and mash. So I ventured into the city for happy hour after a too long hiatus. This place is very walkable from the DuPont metro (North exit). I met my friends and a fellow Yelper for some happy hour libations. My friends were really digging their $4 gin and tonics, which seemed to get more potent as the night went on (or maybe they were just getting more tipsy). I had a pale ale and a veggie quesadilla for just $8.50. They have select appetizers half-off at happy hour, so you might have to splurge and get their $13 crab balls, which were really good according to my pal. It was crowded or loud in the bar area during happy hour which lasts until 8PM FTW. There are enough long tables to accommodate large groups. The bartenders were great and kept our drinks flowing. I'll have to come back and try their fish & chips, my test to determine if a British pub is truly authentic. (I did see them bring malt vinegar to someone in our group.) Went for Trivia Night which was fantastic -- it is one of the few places in DC where the trivia is not near-impossible or fully centered around current events, so it was refreshing to see different types of questions! Came to watch a caps game and have dinner. I wanted to go to a bar that actually served good food, and yelp led me here! First, we arrived just before the start of the game at 8 and were able to take advantage of the end of happy hour. We both ordered pints of Guinness blonde for $5. We both wanted fish and chips for our dinner so we decided to split that and try the Mac and cheese with corned beef as well. The food came out piping hot, and were good portions. The fish was definitely the star. Great breading and seasoning, and crispy. The fries were delicious as well, but the cole slaw was meh. Too drenched in mayo. As for the Mac and cheese, that was good for some bites but I wouldn't get that as my only dish. There was just a sprinkling of corner beef. The Thursday night special included a free dessert with purchase of 2 entrees so we tried the apple pie a la mode. Delicious! Very cinnamony. Overall, good food and good selection of draft beer.
