Came here all the time when I was younger when I worked at Yelp's DC Office which was across the street from Capital One Arena. This is a nice Happy Hour spot near work and near the metro and has a nice and relaxing atmosphere that has an outdoor area with multiple seating setups near some fire pits. The Hawaiian Rolls and Truffle Fries are a few personal raves of mine for happy hour and I love a good rum and coke. Especially since they have slushie ice! The manager working recently when I came in after the Mystics games last Thursday, Dominic, was really kind! The only downside is the bathroom is on the third floor and you gotta take the elevator to get there. It's an Odyssey getting to the bathroom read more

Had breakfast here both days of our stay... Juper ( spelling?) was an excellent server both mornings, as well as the other gentleman assisting ( did not ask him name). Had the omelette one day, customized with veggies, with yummy potatoes well seasoned and toast. Hubby enjoyed his avocado toast with additional smoked salmon and capers. I appreciated the ability to drink SKIM milk, a rarity these days...thank you! Our second breakfast had me ordering the beautiful and delicious Waffle It Up, delectable and tasted as pretty as it looked. Hubby got an omelette and turkey bacon. Excellent service by Juper ( spelling?) and the other gentleman whose name I didn't ask. Would have loved to have had a drink here, but our schedule didn't allow. read more

Bottom line up front: I really enjoyed my time at the dirty habit. The overall cocktail menu was good. They had decent happy hour prices. And lots of great clientele. It was particularly a good location for an after work, kind of venue and happy hour. Unfortunately, I didn't try very much of the food only had their fries which I thought were amazing both fresh and perfectly seasoned and cook cooked. From a cocktail side I really enjoyed their old-fashioned and they're smoked old-fashioned. Ultimately, I would recommend and I will return. read more

My homegirls and I stopped here to eat before heading back home. We stopped in for their Sing Along brunch. The DJ was playing 80s and 90s R&B music. The restaurant itself is very beautiful with its glass walls and modern decor. Our waiter was very nice and answered all of our questions. I ordered the short rib hash and both my friends ordered chicken and waffles. They were served good portions with 4 pieces of waffles and 4 pieces of chicken. My short rib hash while very delicious was not very filling. I also got a glass of the brunch punch. It was a pretty purple but didn't taste like there was even a hint of liquor in it. I would definitely come back and try this place for dinner whenever I'm back in town just to see how it is. read more

My friend and I were downtown for the art night and decided to pop in here for some drinks. If you get the gold drink it def has a kick, and the glass was so heavy! It was really cool though and we had a fun time just sitting at the bar and catching up. Our bartender was pretty cool too, def will need to come back next time I'm in DC. read more

Dirty Habit is inside Hotel Monaco. Gallery Place metro is across the street. The restaurant is elegant, upscale and charges a 20% gratuity. The menu is posh and limited. I asked if I could have a garden salad even though it wasn't on the menu. The server didn't ask if I wanted olive oil on it. We had a slight language barrier. The oil was a bit much on the salad. The hostess took it off of the bill. The roasted potatoes were awesome. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My friend enjoyed the grilled salmon burger. The server kept refilling the water glasses. I finally asked him to stop. I prefer being asked if I want more water. It was nice being able to hear each other during the meal. Some restaurants get noisy. The chef pays attention to plating and presentation. read more

8/12/2026 - my first time here. Went with a large group of friends. Nice entrance. Walk inside and tables inside and a bar. Bar was busy. They had another bar outside which was dead and I ordered a $17 margarita. This was pricey. I only had one. It was very good but very strong. It was about 6 ounces. Don't drink to many of these! They have open seating outside as well. Very nice inside. read more

This past weekend we visited DC and this was one of the places we sought out to explore for dinner. Dirty Habit is very aesthetically pleasing and located inside of a hotel. The vibe is very laid back and luxurious. I did not like that the closest restrooms were outside of the restaurant on the 3rd floor of the hotel while the restaurant itself is located on the 2nd. But, the service was good and our waitress was very attentive. The food was good, but I did have higher expectations based on the reviews and photos that I saw. Maybe it was just the dishes that we ordered. While the experience was nice, it was also underwhelming and I don't feel the need to return. read more

Came here for breakfast while we stayed at the hotel and i am sad i didn't come every morning. The breakfast is absolutely worth it. Same in at 9 am on Friday, and they were pretty much open and got us seated right away. I got the Monaco breakfast which is basically eggs, bread and their potatoes. Simple but somehow hit the spot. The potatoes were really well seasoned and good. The eggs were buttery and soft and the bread was grilled, not toasted, which added amazing flavor. The service is fast and tentative. No complains. I bet the lunch and dinner is good too. read more

I really wanted to love it, but it fell a bit short. Despite having a reservation, we were seated in the bar, and the restaurant was quite warm. Our margarita and mojito missed the mark, though our server kindly replaced them. The food was decent but a little salty. Cool options on the menu. It's a beautiful space, and since the patio was closed because of the heat, we'd come back to experience it another time. read more

Attended a private party here while in DC for a conference and this place is so cool! The ambiance is dark and quaint, tucked back in a speakeasy type atmosphere, is decorated beautifully and has exceptional food. The party buffet consisted of braised short rib, salads, pastas, plentiful side dishes and desserts. Yum! The servers were very attentive and pleasant. read more

This is a solid location to do a work happy hour. Beer selection is a little sparse, but they are good with bourbon, scotch and cocktails. I'm a big fan of the Smoke Show with Elijah Craig Bourbon, Connemara Peated Whiskey, Amaro Montenegro and Black Walnut Bitters. Wines by the glass are limited but the bottle selection is good enough to have earned them a Wine Spectator award in 2024. They do a solid job with food. Check out the F'N 7th Burger with 6oz hanger & brisket blend, caramelized onion mayo and tomato jam. Comes with fries. Really tasty and pairs well with bourbon. Service is good. Visited Dirty Habit for happy hour on a summer-like day in DC, so my friend and I sat outside in the patio area. Very accessible from the Chinatown metro station, so happy hour is perfect for a quick work gathering or catchup with a friend. We ordered the calamari and had champagne for a birthday celebration. The portion size was really good for happy hour. Prices are also decent from 3pm - 7pm for happy hour as well. Service is always good which is why I always drop in for a quick late lunch or dinner. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, and near the Kimpton Hotel. read more

This is definitely one of the more overall elegant venues you'll come across in the Penn quarter area. Located inside the hotel Monaco the restaurant is quite spacious with several large bars and different sized areas which accommodate large group dining experiences or for more private intimate outings, and they also have a great outdoor patio design which I've attended a few local events at. I always find the staff pleasant and accommodating even when the event crowds get a bit overwhelming. The Sunday brunch scene is always entertaining and tends to feature dj's playing all your favorite r&b and pop hits. While a bit pricey the quality seems to be well worth it. I've had several really good wines there even during happy hour as well as the calamari and the baby shrimp fried rice items which were both very solid dishes. Looking forward to trying out the dinner menu soon. read more

Came here for my best friend's birthday dinner the ambience was amazing. The inside is incredible with nice table arrangements lighting. The waiter was super friendly and he was very attentive. During our reservation, we noticed that it was restaurant week so we decided to stick with that menu to see what the restaurant offered as a first timer, upon looking at the menu, we were excited to try things out, but once the food came out shortly, things took a small turn. We were not completely satisfied with the flavors of the food. The salmon was cooked properly, but just wasn't a memorable dish along with the Mayan chicken that I ordered was a big mistake. The chicken was so tough I immediately asked my waiter just to box it up because I knew I was trashing it. He asked if I wanted to switch it out for anything but due to the other guest not liking their meal either I decided to not make it difficult and just box it up pay the tab and head out on the bright side, they did sing happy birthday and give my best friend a free dessert which turned out to be her favorite churros, but the best part of the restaurant week menu was the sorbet I do plan to visit again maybe for a quick lunch or happy hour to see how things are different read more

I was headed to Capital One Arena for concert, so I stopped by to grab dinner before the show. The server did a great job and she made sure I was in and out promptly. For my starter, I had the calamari. It was fried perfectly, seasoned with the DH spice blend, and served with a side of aïoli just like I like it. I prefer aïoli over marinara sauce any day for my calamari. The pop of color from the micro greens garnish was a nice touch. For my entrée, I had the pan seared scallops. It was four scallops in a beurre blanc sauce with a few veggies. The scallops were tender and the sauce was flavorful. If you're watching your figure, it's a great low-carb dish. However, I would've loved some rice (real or cauliflower), spaghetti squash, moe veggies, or more scallops. Lol. There was so much sauce and I didn't want to waste it. The ingredients weren't enough soak it up all up. I dipped some of the calamari rings into the sauce. I should've asked for some bread. read more

This was my second time visiting dirty habit and it was very different from my first experience. We ordered calamari, ricotta gnocchi, pan seared called and braised short ribs and the only thing we enjoyed was the ricotta gnocchi. Everything else was underwhelming. It honestly felt like the chef may have changed since my last visit because the scallops were cooked completely different from how I remembered. The service was also very slow, it took awhile for us to be seated, we actually had to find someone to have us seated since nobody was by the front desk. It also took some time for the food and drinks to come out. While the overall ambiance is still nice, I don't think I'll be coming back for a third visit. read more

TL: DR - Okay spot to grab a drink/meal in the Gallery Place neighborhood; especially before an event at the Capital One Arena. Dirty Habit provides an interesting juxtaposition of an ultra-modern space next to the classic and historical Kimpton Hotel Monaco, to which it is attached. I recently met up with a bunch of folks at Dirty Habit before seeing Dave Chappelle at Capital One Arena. It was still warm enough to sit outside and there are various seating areas in the patio with firepits and other heat sources (see pic with reflective "fire place") to stay warm; at least until the sun sets. You have to walk through the main dining room to get to the back patio...and to me at least, the decor is just a bit too dark. In addition to the already dimmed lighting, the furniture and the color scheme of the furniture is also very muted. But it does create a vibe...that's for sure. There is a Happy Hour menu - https://dirtyhabitdc.com/menu - but the prices aren't necessarily on the "happy" side. Mixed drinks range between $11-$13 while beer and wine are $9. Not great, but on par of what you'd expect in DC. The on-tap IPA was fine. Had a nice hoppy after bite. We didn't get any of the food offerings, since nothing really appealed to us. But we enjoyed ourselves chatting and catching up before the show. The back patio does fill up between 5:30-8pm, and no surprise, that because you're surrounded by buildings in essentially a converted alley, noise levels are high as voices echo off concrete. Note: Restrooms are located inside the hotel and on the second floor, via the elevator. Would I make a return visit? Maybe, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Two HH beers with tax and tip amounted to slightly over $25. read more

We came to dirty habit on a whim for a Sunday brunch. We were able to snag a last minute reservation and were seated promptly on our arrival. There was music playing but not too loud too where you couldn't have a conversation. We started with the buttermilk biscuits and did the bottomless drinks. The punch on the bottomless menu is definitely STRONG, so I quickly changed to a mimosa. They also never let your glass go empty so you really get your money's worth. For food, we had the smoked salmon Benedict and the waffle it up with added chicken. Everything was so flavorful. Definitely recommend if looking for a more upbeat brunch atmosphere. read more

We stopped at Dirty Habit for cocktails before a concert at Capital One Arena and sat at the patio bar. The location was especially convenient since the arena was directly across the street. My first time here and I love the ambiance. I think that's my jam when it comes to these type of restaurants. It's so dark, intimate and such a vibe. When you first walk in, the entrance is so creative with the life size deck of cards. The courtyard area of the hotel is beautiful with plenty of aesthetically pleasing decor. We had a private party in the back of the restaurant which was beautifully decorated for a 40th birthday. Our meal was family style so we got to try a little of everything - little gem Caesar salad, soft potato rolls, scallop tostadas, crispy calamari, steak frites, pan seared salmon with Brussels sprouts and Mac & cheese, ending with churros & assorted dipping sauces for dessert. Everything was pretty good but the scallop tostadas were not my favorite; it was ceviche style which made the scallop a little too mushy to enjoy. We get grabbed drinks from the bar - they were also pretty standard but strong. The food was slightly lukewarm but the wait staff corrected this promptly. They were very attentive and someone was always in the room with us. While everything was decent - it is a little overpriced for what you get & the actual dishes they offer. However, I wouldn't mind this as an option for date night or after work cocktail read more

I had a great dinner at Dirty Habit. I've been here a few times for happy hour events or to sit at the lounge, but this was my first time coming for their dinner. It's on the pricey end, but I think it's worth it. The dinner menu isn't extensive, but it includes something for every diet type. I ordered the ricotta gnocchi, which was really good. We ordered truffle fries for the table as a starter, and we all ordered different drinks. They don't have an actual mocktail menu, but the bar will make a mocktail drink if you ask. I ordered a blueberry flavored mocktail and a Shirley temple. Both tasted great. Also, our waiter was very accommodating, and a manager came around checking on how we were enjoying the food. Overall, it was a good experience. read more

I met my cousin for the Pre-theater menu which is $56 per person for a 3 course meal and it's a phenomenal deal. The restaurant is located inside the Kipton Monaco Hotel and it's a beautiful. Parking is street side via parking meter and they also offer valet and parking garages are near by. Julian was our waiter and he was really nice and attentive he told us some of his favorite recommendations and drink options that would pair with the dinner. Each course is really beautifully plated and plays on your senses, especially the parfait dessert. I am not a tomato person, but I really enjoyed the tomato salad, it was like and refreshing. Beets are my favorite, so of course I chose the beet salad which was delicious! The seabass melts in your mouth and since I'm a mushroom person the chicken dish was right up my alley because it parties with a mushroom sauce. The food and drinks were great, but the service was rather slow. I understand how tough and short-staffed the restaurant industry is right now and I give them all grace. They were also really busy and there was an event at the Capital One arena so it added to it. They did give us a heads up that the kitchen was backed up when we were seated, so I added a star back for that. We ordered the Gnocchi and the Scallops. Both were absolutely amazing, however the portion sizes are rather small, especially for the Scallop dish. The pillowy Gnocchi literally melts in your mouth and I loved that sauce that comes with the Scallops. The Bok Choy was a welcomed addition. I also ordered my go-to cocktail, and Old Fashioned, which were good. I'd go back again and hope that as time gets better, that the service speed improves. read more

I was very much disappointed by the food and the service here. This is a spot for drinks and ambiance as a spot before your actual dinner, but there are too many amazing restaurants in DC to settle for mediocre dishes. The best bite was the potato bread and the Negroni's were excellent. The cavatelli and baratta was okay. But the prawns were almost "return to the kitchen" bad. After five years, I finally returned to dirty habit. My friend had a hotel room here and invited me to both dinner and breakfast the next morning since he had a hotel credit. We realized the dinner they had a restaurant week so we obliged with that, we got the potato bread, the beef tartare, and the little gem salad. The Caesar was pretty good and actually comes with a good amount of salad, the beef tartar was amazing and the accompanying bread was really unique and. I got a cocktail, which was pretty good, but nothing too crazy or remarkable. For our mains I ordered the roasted salmon, and he got the soya short rib. The roasted salmon was pretty good, even though I had strangely some sensitivity to the salmon skin not sure why. The short rib was pretty good, but the actual amount of food was pretty small and disappointing. The desserts were pretty good, pretty standard. I chose the sorbet, and my friend chose the churros which I think were the better choice. Overall, the food options were good but not standout, and I guess it was a good we came for restaurant week because I don't think it would be worth it at the regular price points. read more
