Restaurant Week 2026 Review The beauty of Restaurant Week in DC is that you get to explore restaurants you've been wanting to try and find reasons to love or disown them. This place gave me a million reasons to love them with everything from the exquisite decor, very SoCal vibes. Down to impeccable hospitality, shoutout to Nathan and all of the staff. Topped off with excellent food, wines, cocktails, and desserts! We started the evening by the bar for some happy hour drinks, I ordered the white sangria and concluded with a crisp glass of red wine when we transitioned to the table for dinner. My boyfriend ordered the Ikumi Beach and stayed with it for the evening because he loved it. Starters: Elote- such a fun spin on a classic dish and one which did not fall short of amazing! Rendang Slider- wow! This was divine! The cook on the beef rendang left the meat tender, juicy, and oozing with flavors. Entrees: Pesto Strozzapreti with Grilled Shrimp- a fun way to say that you eat with your eyes and end it with a treat to your tummy. This dish was AMAZING! The char on the shrimps were perfect, leaving them juicy, smoky, and perfectly seasoned. The pesto strozzapreti was the perfect combination as it literally swept me away to flavor town. Incredible dish! El Salvadorian Carne Asada- my boyfriend raved about this dish, especially the cook on the skirt steak and how excellent it paired with everything else. I had a bite and must say that the steak was buttery soft and excellent. Dessert: Volteado de Plátano- have you ever had a plantain upside down cake? Well I did! And it was unique, fun, and soooo good. I plan on visiting again to experience their bottomless brunch and from the way that their flavor profiles sold me at dinner, I'm looking forward to this day! read more

This was amazing. The cocktails were different but refreshing summer drinks. Never had some of the mixtures in this way. And the food was great. The group I was with were able to find somewhat exotic foods to try, variations on something special. There were 4 of us for our first time here. We had a great time. Food and drinks were served promptly but with enough of a break that we didn't feel rushed. I would recommend this to anyone living here or even those coming to visit and want a great meal that you will want to tell people about. read more

Vibe check completely passed. My friend it's just at this place and it turns out I have never been before. As soon as I stepped in I knew I was in for a treat. The decor is brighter, yet still calm and inviting. We went right upstairs because they have a covered rooftop. It was around 6:30, but it wasn't crowded and the soundtrack was excellent. Any place that plays SBTRKT instantly gets a thumbs up from me. I got a beverage and food menu, although I just tried two drinks. They have a happy hour from 5-7, so we were able to catch the tail end of it. Cocktails are $4 off (putting each one around $10), and wines and beers are moderately discounted... Food too. These are not basic cocktails. I was thoroughly impressed by their ingredients and composition. I had to check past RAMMYs nominees and see if they had forgotten something. Turns out they were a finalist for best gathering place last year. But their cocktails?? Wow. One drink literally had a flower IN the ice cube. And another had the most delightful pandan foam. I'm genuinely excited to try all the cocktails they have. I have a good feeling about their food too. read more

This review is for the cocktail menu! I went to Vagabond for happy hour and really enjoyed their drinks. The margarita was delicious and classic. I also tried the Lagundri Bay, which had brown butter, dark chocolate, and gouda foam. It was a really fun drink and I'd never had those flavors in a drink before! I would get them again and try more of their creative cocktails in the future. The chicken sliders are also really tasty! I would come back for their happy hour again. Great food and drinks! Loved the food options here--went with a skewer and two sides. The shrimp and pineapple were perfectly cooked, while the coconut rice and bok choy were the perfect accompaniments! We tried allll the drinks, and my favorite was the Sultans--reminded me of key lime pie in all of the best ways! The ambiance of the patio isn't as great as the rooftop or inside, but still nice to sit outside on a Saturday evening. Service was good as well. read more

I had such a great time here! I went to happy hour on the rooftop with my friend. The decor both inside and out is so cute and aesthetic. There are green tiles as you walk up the stairs, the rooftop bar is bright and airy, and the bartenders are so nice. I had the white sangria and birria tacos for happy hour. FYI the tacos are very very small so definitely get two or more. Flavor was delicious. The white sangria had a nice tartness to it. read more

Loved this place for a casual weeknight dinner. Like others, the ambiance made me feel like I was definitely on vacation but in a lofi lounge-meets Tulum way. Service: our server was super friendly and made great suggestions for dishes to try. Menu- It is a mix of international flavors. We ordered the quesobirria as a starter which was delicious. It was a chilly night, so I opted for the Portuguese fish stew. It was a generous serving filled with shrimp, scallops, white fish and potatoes and came with both toasted bread and rice. My husband chose a make your own skewer plate combo- chicken skewers, rice and beans and pineapple fried rice. He was super happy with the portion size and the flavors. Our teen daughter selected the Hawaiian sliders and fries. She is not an adventurous eater, but liked it a great deal and told us she wants to eat here again. Decor: it is a modern surf shack meets boho chic vibe. It's pretty and laidback with a rooftop bar and intimate dining room. I peeked into the subterranean DJ bar which looks like it could be a lot of fun. I can't WAIT to go back! First the ambiance gave beachy/ vacay vibes! It was an experience that made you feel like you weren't in Washington, DC! I love that they used real flowers on the table settings and the restaurant was clean. The staff were sweet! Our waitress was holding down the downstairs and outdoor section with grace and ease. She smiled and made sure we were ok. We ordered everything on the happy hour menu. And some things we ordered more than once! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the Pernil tacos (only because the pulled pork was so dry)! Other than that, I could lick the plate for each dish! The star of the show was the green sauce that accompanied the yuca fries. I put it on every dish. The burgerrrrrrrrr... so juicy. The chef pays attention to flavor detail and really does a great job. Tried out a new brunch spot for President's Day weekend today. Found this cute spot right across from Lauriol Plaza that had bottomless brunch. This is a small but cute multi-level venue with a rooftop. They offer bottomless brunch which is 1 brunch entree and bottomless cocktails for $48. The food menu is limited but they have a variety of brunch cocktails which include mimoas (classic, guava and passionfruit), martinis and cocktails. It was busy and service was pretty quick. We received great recommendations from the server and everything arrived warm. read more

Came here for brunch and what an adorable place! It's themed in a very beach fashion and is the perfect place for brunch with your friends on the weekend. They have unlimited brunch drinks and an entree for 44 dollars. We started off with their nata which is a Portuguese pastry that was to die for! Ended up having their donuts too (which were like beignets) and they were just as wonderful. Our entrees were the surfer burrito and the chilaquiles. Just for the spicy lovers please nothat nothing here is spicy. Ask for additional hot sauce for that. The chilaquiles was our favorite of the two as it had more flavor overall. Our drinks were tasty (we had the sangria and the punch). The punch was our favorite. We walked here and are from out of town so cannot comment on the parking. Service was solid. read more

I recently added this to my "repeat list" for brunch. They have a great deal- bottomless drinks (1.5 hours) and an entree for $48. You can also choose from a variety of bottomless drinks also- mimosas, sangria, vagabond punch, espresso martini, Bloody Mary and/or michelada. I usually get the avo toast which comes with a sunny egg, greens and home fries. The service is great, the food is yummy, the drinks are bottomless, and it comes at an amazing price. Great rooftop in DC for brunch - if you get a big group of people together (30 plus - spend a certain minimum), they will let you use it for a private event. All the food looked amazing but we got the avocado toast - it was scrumptious - generous portion of bread, guacamole, queso, sunny side up egg. The entree came with a side salad and potatoes which the staff kindly let you swap for an up charge. Prices were reasonable for DC. The seating on the rooftop is limited so some people ate standing. Vagabond is a cute spot but there are a lot of tables squeezed into the main dining space. And it's very dark. Maybe I'm old, but I couldn't read the menu with such low lighting. I've never experienced that before. I ordered the quesabirria for a starter and the vegan stir fry for my main dish. The quesabirria was tasty, but felt too greasy and heavy for my liking. I think the cheese added to the heavy feeling. The other person in my party ordered the shrimp tacos and those were delicious. Tasted lighter than the quesabirria. The stir fry was good. I didn't think I would finish the whole thing but I did. I added both proteins, shrimp and chicken (I lift and protein is important to me!) Unfortunately the server thought I wanted a chicken skewer so that's what came out. When the person who placed it on the table realized, he started to take it back, but the server put it back on the table. I found that interesting because the skewer had more of a burnt flavor whereas I'm assuming the chicken that would come with the stir fry would not. I didn't complain though because I was pretty hungry, but that annoyed me a bit. I was looking forward to the dessert menu but there wasn't anything on it that appealed to me (aka, no chocolate and nothing cake-like). They had basque cheesecake, grilled pineapple and ice cream, and a third item that I can't recall. Overall, the meal was decent, but I wouldn't return. read more

Came here for brunch for my first visit and was an enjoyable experience. They do have a bottomless brunch option that includes an entree and drinks for $48, which I like when they bundle the drinks and entree together vs paying separately for both. Might be in my head but at least I feel like this is a better deal as long as you order the most expensive entree :) I got the sliders and fries and thought this was not on the menu as an entree I was charged extra for the fries. I enjoyed them but honestly wanted to come here based on the photos of their Birria which is not on the brunch menu. So my bad there! Guess I will have to come back haha. My dining companions got the breakfast sandwich, and shakshuka. The breakfast sandwich really struck me as lack luster and hardly anything inside... mostly bread. I make a better one at home, so wouldn't suggest. The shakshuka looked very hearty and nice though. The winner was really two custard tarts we ordered for the table and shared. They were exceptional! Like a crème brûlée almost. So good. Order this for sure! Service was good but nothing special or stand out to be honest. I did like the ambiance and feel of the restaurant. I will come back to try their Birria, which honestly hope it tastes as good as it looks but overall I would say the total experience was good but nothing really stood out aside from their dope custard tarts. read more

Three cheers for the nazaré!!! I would come back for this drink alone! My friend and I were bopping around the Dupont art walk when we glimpsed this rooftop and knew we had to make a stop. We ordered drinks and food and were immediately obsessed with the nazaré drink (cute, passion fruity, unexpected but super fun spicy kick) along with the rooftop vibe. The quesabirria was a bit small but delicious, while the poke bowl was heavy on rice but at least filling. I really enjoyed our dinner and drinks here. The restaurant has indoor dining, a front patio and a rooftop space with 2 tables and some hightop bar seating. My partner and I headed upstairs. Note, the stairs are crazy steep. You will get a workout just going up so you've already burned off the first round of drinks! You can still order food, along with the full cocktail menu. Speaking of cocktails, that is the speciality here. They offer an wide array of wines from Spain, New Zealand, and other wine country. I tried a few. I didn't like many of them, so I stuck to a nice Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. My partner ordered cocktails, and each one was perfect. So this is definitely a cocktail spot. The Mediterranean trio dip was delicious along with the chile relleno -- stuffed with cheese and steak. It's a great spot and I would love to come back during the happy hour on a warm day. We visited here for late lunch on a Saturday. We got there around 3:30, didn't realize that they serve brunch until 4pm, we waited until 4pm to order. The restaurant is on the noisy side, at least on that day. We sat at the bar since there were no tables available, a lot activity around us. There food storage unit is outside so they constantly had servers going in and out the door where we sat at the bar, a little annoying. The highlight of my time there was the passion fruit mimosa, soooo good. The stir fry dish and octopus dish were good, could have had more octopus in it but it was good. The pineapple fried rice was horribly bland, I would not get that again. Our time here was not horrible but not adding this to my must visit list. read more

I've been here for brunch twice and I feel like DC is really sleeping on this place as a brunch spot. The first time I went, everyone in my party foolishly ignored the "Vagabond Bottomless" option at the bottom left of the brunch menu. ‍ If you plan on having a proper "DC Brunch" , I would definitely opt for the bottomless option. We obviously really liked this spot so we went back a second time on Sunday and did the right thing (which was do the bottomless option). I ordered the Lineup and four espresso martinis and because I did the bottomless vagabond it came out to ~$44 + tip. The first time I went, I ordered the buttermilk pancakes and only two drinks and it was almost the same price. We order the Doughnuts as an appetizer for the group the first time. It was under the 'For the Table' section of menu so we assumed there would be enough for everyone to at least get to try it but they only brought three really tiny doughnuts. I wasn't really happy about that and I felt like that was a bit misleading. It was more of a personal plate of doughnuts rather than something meant to be shared by all (Table of 5). This space is a little small so I would highly recommend making a reservation beforehand. The outdoor space is really pretty as well. There's also a nice rooftop bar that wasn't as busy as the dining room. Despite my 4-star rating, I really liked it and will be back! read more

This visit to vagabond was 1 billion times better than my last visit and this is the only reason I am reviewing the restaurant. I met a few friends for their brunch deal up upstairs at the bar.... The ambience is 10 out of 10 upstairs. It's beautiful. The stairs are steep. Please be careful... only thing about vagabond is that the bathrooms are all the way in the basement however, our bartender Emma was amazing great personality great drinks. The food came out fast. The fries were delicious. I ended up getting the waygu sliders fries & an egg based dish... everything was quick and fresh. This visit exceeded my expectations as my last visit was super poor. I'm glad I came back in. Try them again. I suggest that everyone come to vagabond for their brunch deal. It's amazing but they do have a two hour time limit. Brunch ends at three and they stop seating people at 2:30. read more

I came here during happy hour, and tried both the classic and the Hawaiian sliders as well as the tacos. They were all good, but the Hawaiian one truly impressed - we had to order another set! Drinks were also good too - we sat outside on the second floor at the open bar seating area which was nice when the weather is nice - but inside seating was more formal and nice too - which makes this place also good for the times when the weather isn't great as well. This joint has been on my and my partner's list for a bit. We stopped in at 8:30 on a Thursday and found two bar stools in the corner. The bar tender was super friendly, and she works Thursdays and Saturdays, so for her alone I will definitely be back. The menu is coastal surfer themed, so everything you would imagine eating by a beach. We went with a variety of appetizers because we love to share. The dip trio and the sliders were our favorites. I've been meaning to try out this restaurant for a while, but they seem to book up for weekend brunch, So my husband and I went for cocktails at about 10 PM on a Friday evening. The first floor of the restaurant was quieter with a couple people at the bar inside - the decor and ambience of that floor was super nice though. The host let us know that there was a DJ in the basement with a more upbeat vibe and that there were people at the rooftop bar. It was nice weather so we opted for the rooftop bar. We got a seat overlooking the street. I thought the cocktails were delicious and very fair pricing! The cucumber drink was so yummy! We ordered bottomless mimosas and the drinks continued to flow and the food came out fast and efficient. Great service! If you're a frequent bruncher in DC then you know that this is a great deal! The mimosas were good and the food was tasty. I had the pancakes, eggs and potatoes and also tried the King's sliders. We decided to try this place out for DC Cocktail Week. The cocktails here are absolutely outstanding! Ambiance - Dimly lit. It had a modern vibe to it. There is a nice, colorful bar as soon as you step in. Food - The food, to me, was good. Not amazing, but the best thing we ate was the quesabirria tacos. I would like to come back and try different dishes. Service - After asking a couple of people for lime for my water, service improved. Food came to the table quickly as well. The hostess and the waitress were not friendly. But, the individuals that took plates off of the table were very nice and attentive. The food was pretty good. I ordered the Pura vida scramble with egg whites, pancakes, and the Portuguese baked eggs. The pura vida scramble had way too many onions and needed a lot of salt and paper. The pancakes were cooked perfectly and were very fluffy. The baked eggs dish was definitely not what I was expecting. It was more of a stewed tomato soup with eggs in it. While the food wasn't terrible, it was pricey and the drinks weren't very good. Many tasted a little watered down and their Michelada had too much tomato juice.
