    Best peanut butter cup ever
    Dan S.

By sheer providence, Founding Farmers has delivered me from a 25-year confectionery melancholy brought on by the tragic decline of the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Their house-made "knockoff" is, in fact, no knockoff at all. It is a triumph. The peanut butter, the chocolate, the texture. All of it now superier to what Reese's once was before its unfortunate descent into mediocrity. They also offer their own version of a Twix, which is just splendid.

This place showed up as one of the most reviewed and poplar places in DC, so we decided to check it out and made brunch reservations. We were seated 10 mins past our reservation time, but in a requested sunny outdoor space, on a rather nippy day in DC. Menu was all American comfort food, and our order consisted of Devil-ish Eggs ($12.99) and Chicken Pot Pie ($22.99). Food arrived within 15-mins of ordering, and while the service was quick, the food was just average. Nothing really stood out, other than the great service and friendly staff. Noise levels on the average end and easy to have conversations. The indoor seating looked more inviting than the outdoor one, especially the booth seating right behind their bar, which was quite lively too.

Restaurant is very nice inside. Clean. Staff friendly. Multiple seating options, including inside and outside. I was quickly seated and complementary water brought to the table. Server quick to offer suggestions, and opinions on menu selection when prompted. Food arrived at my table fairly quickly. The steak was very tender and juicy also flavorful. If I had one complaint, it would be the asparagus was a bit too al dente for my taste. Pricing is fair given the restaurant environment. This is not your typical restaurant chain if that makes sense. I would gladly come back here again when I am in the area. There were several things on the menu that I would love to try.

Wow. This place was recommended to us by a staff member at the Hampton Inn White House. It was close to the hotel and we were seated quickly. The appetizer of the muffins (2 orders) came with butter and strawberry jam. Delicious. My hot chicken was the best I have ever had. The coleslaw on the sandwich was amazing. I would order that again. The prime rib dip my mom had (and then my friend ordered two weeks later) was excellent. I would 200% recommend this restaurant. Can't wait to return!

Had the Yankee Pot-roast which was delicious, very flavorful. Wonderful food and wonderful service! Thank you, Daniel! Cornbread is a must have when you visit.

Went to Founding Farmers DC for a small dinner with two friends connected to my company, Lesbifriends Travel, and it turned out to be a really great choice. I had not been here in years and now I am wondering why. First, the service. Our server Sanovia, who also goes by Snow, was amazing. Super friendly, personable, and attentive throughout the entire meal. She knew the menu well, made great recommendations, and checked on us just the right amount. Honestly, she made the experience. We shared several dishes including the mini spicy tuna wontons, balsamic bacon blue dates, and the grand meatball with stracciatella and basil. Everything came out well plated and perfect for sharing. Portion sizes were solid and the prices felt fair for DC. They also made it very easy to split the check so everyone could pay separately, which is something I always appreciate when dining with friends. The only thing that could have been slightly better was the cornbread, which I think would have been perfect if it had been cooked a little longer. But overall the meal, service, and atmosphere were great. Really glad we ended up here and I will definitely be back to try more dishes.

Founding Farmers is a DC staple. The food is reliably good. It's a fun environment, and it's a good place to bring out-of-towners. We went on a weeknight and had a reservation. We were seated upstairs, and it got really packed and quite loud throughout the dinner. The service was good, and the food was solid. I had the crazy corn salad, and it was so yummy. The portion was huge! We also had the bacon blue dates. Everything was good. I wish I had saved room for a big slice of cake. I will have to get cake next time!

I was so excited to try this place and it disappointed me. I had the ice tea and it definitely wasn't sweetened my friend had a soda that tasted like bleach. When you see the picture of our Cobb salad with crab you'll understand what I'm talking about, it had nothing on it ! Seriously it was lettuce with some crab and scallions. I don't even know if I'd give it another chance for the price. My daughter's friend got the shrimp scampi and almost right after eating she didn't feel well. I felt really bad since my friend and I took my daughter and her friend for graduating with honors from college. The service was ok and the restaurant is pretty.Food horrible.

Founding Farmers, much like America's founding fathers, is guided by a clear vision: build something sustainable, practical, and meant to last. Its commitment to locally sourced ingredients isn't revolutionary, just as democracy itself wasn't entirely new, but it's rooted in the same enduring belief in progress and the American dream. I stopped in for appetizers, choosing cornbread and deviled eggs, two Southern staples thoughtfully interpreted with a mid-Atlantic sensibility and, fittingly, served on proper plates. Simple, familiar, and well executed; proof that tradition doesn't need to be flashy to be effective. Service was top-notch, efficient without being rushed, and the location is as accessible as it gets, situated neatly between two Metro stops on the Blue, Gray, and Orange lines. Inside, the restaurant offers ample seating, anchored by a massive central bar that divides the space like a modern-day Continental Divide--bringing people together on both sides while still defining the room. Much like the ideals it quietly nods to, Founding Farmers feels grounded, intentional, and confidently American.

Went to Founding Farmers in DC for brunch and had a great experience. The menu has so many good options, it was hard to choose. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with quality ingredients. The brunch classics were done really well, and the portions were generous without being over the top. Service was friendly and efficient, even though the restaurant was busy. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, making it a perfect spot for a weekend brunch with friends or family. Overall, excellent food, great service, and a solid brunch spot in DC. I'd definitely come back.

Founding Farmers DC is a solid pick for breakfast or brunch solid service that's friendly and quick even when it's packed, with servers keeping things moving without hovering. Food's hearty and consistent: love the fried chicken & waffles crispy, flavorful, and generous portions of fresh, farm-sourced stuff that hits the spot. Decor's fun urban-farmhouse vibe reclaimed wood, high ceilings, quirky silo booths, and cool art like the flying Pegasus and seasonal lamb mascot warm, bustling, and casual without being stuffy. Gets loud when full, but that's the energy. Great value near the White House; I'd go back in a heartbeat. 5 stars.

Rare Steak & Eggs* with Multigrain toast and hash browns
    Calvin K.

[The Savory in the wind] Visited DC for the New Year with minimal research. Yes, it's Yelp Time and found this amazing restaurant for breakfast. I was attracted to the coffee at sight and I was not disappointed. I tried the house blend this time. It stated is a mixed of Guatemala, Brazil and Columbia. It was rich in citrus taste carried with its full body all the way from the tips of my. tongue to my nostril. The aftertaste allowed me to enjoyed my steak even more. As I was hesitated to order another one, the waiter came and pour me another cup, and another cup. I said "Oh! It really raise the standard for diner coffee!" And I had three as total which I really don't do that when I go to a diner. I mentioned I have steak, right? Oh! Yeah! Rare steak and sunny side up eggs with multigrain toast and hash brown. The steak is well executed and the eggs are good naturally. I have a little regret because I put butter on my roast first. Until my wife asked me to try the house made jam. The house made Jam was not sugary. I could clearly tasted the layers of sweetness naturally from the fruit. Although the butter tasted so good, but don't miss the chance of trying the house made jam. This is truly a surprise for me in this trip. It's is the coldest winter of DC, but savory enough for this trip. Calvin

It was straight up LOUD when we arrived due to the music; so loud I debated on if we should stay but we decided on sticking here after seeing there were a couple spots at the bar and less of a crowd there. The bartenders are attentive and patient, answering any questions you have. After ordering a couple beers, I ordered the chicken wings and a side caesar salad while my friend got the fish and chips. The wings are crispy although dry on the inside; fortunately you got the ranch for that; probably not something I would order again given the quality and price. The caesar salad is fine; nothing special, just fine. The fish and chips looked delicious and my friend enjoyed it. I probably should've gone with that but it was a large portion and I wasn't trying to leave on a full stomach. It's breaded nicely with some parmesan fries and a garnish of slaw. I can tell it's a favorite here. Located in Dupont Circle, this seems to be a favorite of the younger crowd which would explain the blaring music; especially on a Wednesday night at 930ish. The restaurant interior gives an upscale elegant vibe that suites the DC scene. Maybe I'll come here for lunch or on the weekend if I'm in the area but I'm too old for the loud music now. Capital Burger actually has more burger options to choose for over Capital Grille and a more slimmed down menu. Still with the name burger in its name, you know where their focus is. I went with the bacon cheeseburger that comes with candied smoke bacon that came at $22 with your chose of sides (fries or various salads). It was not thrown together, and the fries were not just sitting under a heating lamp. I actually ordered a to go burger for the spouse. Here is where customer service comes in. I was asked how far I had to travel and the person taking my order said she will separate portions so it will travel better. Thank you. It is that little extra that goes a long way. I started with the buttermilk biscuits and pimento cheese. Wow. I could have eaten all of them. The bartender and I agreed that it wasn't a good idea. He said he did it once. I also had a mint julep, and while I normally like them, this one was a little different. The presentation was cool, but the drink was all ice, which was disappointing. For dinner I had the Butcher's Steak, medium well (should have gotten medium) and the Brussels sprouts. I'm thinking about the leftovers now. The folks next to me ordered my exact meal because it looked so good. I will indeed return! Thanks, St. Anselm!
