Glad to have made it in before the lunch rush. Didn't have a reservation but was still able to get a seat. The food is pretty good and fresh! Loved the vibe and service as well.

Founding Farmers doesn't usually fail, and this location was no different. We had a decent size group that had staggered arrivals. Our server was super patient with both. The food came out quickly, even the colleagues' who staggered in after majority of the group sat down! My burger was delicious and cooked to the requested temperature. It seemed as though my colleagues enjoyed their meals as well.

    Desserts. Lots to select from.

7/9/2026 - made reservations here at 5:30pm. Arrived very early and they sat us at 5pm for three adults. My second time here. My guests first time. 5 stars for food and customer service. Every dish was excellent. We ordered the following: Roasted Turkey BLT & Avocado $17.99, 1 Cheeseburger $17.99, 2 Cappuccino $11.00, 1 Dark Chocolate Truffles 12.99 which we would not have ordered. Literally in a box and you can buy near the register, 1 Fraise Fling $14.50 drink, 1 Goat Cheese Ravioli & Chicken Cutlet $23.99 and 1 Uncle Buck's Beignets, this had 6 huge items and needs to be shared, didn't know they were this big and 1 person ordered it. Hidden in the menu was this extra fee we were extorted by aDC Operational Surcharge (5.00%). Fantastic food! Will come here again. See photos.

Amazing the waitress was helpful there was so many things to choose from. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere was inviting parking was okay but it's DC so what do you expect.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The corn bread was so moist and good not too sweet perfectly browned on top. The lobster ravioli was flavor-able and the balsamic was a nice added touch. Now that dip I could have ordered more to take home with me and the bread was good. I would recommend this place. To full to try any dessert

We were in DC to celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA. We hoped to have the doughnuts, but found that they weren't available. There were other items that they had run out of. The meals that we had were ok. Our service started out a little slow but our waiter did a nice job taking care of us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was large and accommodating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were seated immediately even though we were a party of six.

A solid meal every time. This is my favorite Ladies who Lunch place and today it was the B*tches who Breakfast place I inhaled the French toast with strawberries and fresh whipped cream (so fast I didn't even get a photo) and enjoyed a latte in the cutest old fashioned teacup. Founding Farmers also hosted the whole family last month for my cousin's graduation from GW. Great service every time and I have never had a bad meal here. Their menu has something for everyone of all ages and palates.

Wonderful service from this very busy restaurant! Glad we had reservations, but they are able to take many walk ins, seating is available inside, upstairs and down, and outside. Loved all the food! We had salads, meat loafs, pot roasts, a crop list platter, and a farmers platter. And don't forget the desserts! We had apple pies, carrot cake, and a bunch of their famous cookies! See the menu! Upstairs is mellow and almost elegant, with a great display of their founding farmers tome and decadent chocolate gifts, and there are more rr there. Elevator is right next to the rr line, which grows steadily downstairs. The beverage menu (with or without alcohol) is extensive;), do indulge, you deserve it! There are also several beverages with unlimited refills (lemonade, Arnold Palmer, iced tea). (There's blockaded construction on the street, so your ride share will have to drop you off in the street, and you'll need to walk up the street to the crosswalk, in order to get to the restaurant entrance.) Enjoy!

Great food. And even better service! So accommodating as well. Eggs, side of tomatoes and fresh fruit. Apple walnut bread. Great coffee Thank you, Byron!!!

I visited Founding Famers for dinner on a Monday with a large group from my association. Despite there being about 18 of us, our servers were attentive and timely! We were given an event-specific abbreviated menu and were served cornbread and spicy tuna wontons as appetizers. I had never had cornbread with actual corn in it, but it added to the sweetness and was delicious. The honey butter was also delicious and paired well with it. As I'm not usually a poke person, I didn't love the spicy tuna's texture and didn't eat much of it. My chosen entree was the Au Poivre Steak Frites with Chives and béarnaise aioli. Wow. I had never had steak frites before (although I've had steak and fries separately) and I couldn't be happier with this dish at Founding Farmers to serve as my first experience. Altogether it was flavorful and the steak was cooked to my liking at medium but was still so soft and juicy. The fries were perfectly crispy as well! Upon perusing the drinks menu, I found the Farmer's Daughter Farmer's Daughter (Founding Spirits vodka, domaine de cantor, st. Germaine, lime, passion fruit, raspberry, bitters) which was sweet cut through with the perfect amount of tart. Wow. I got a second one and was tipsy. Our dessert was a chef's special chocolate cheesecake that was indeed decadent and rich in flavor. Delicious! Overall I was so impressed with my meal that I tried out the Chinatown location of Founding Farmers. Spoiler alert -- I like my steak frites more than my goat cheese burger.

Never had a bad meal at Founding Farmers! Street parking around is available. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Indoor and outdoor seating options available, will have occasional chirping visitors outdoors, but not too crazy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Had reservations for early Sunday, plenty of seating so not a concern. Friendly staff quickly seated and order out promptly. Attentive staff ensures needs are taken care of. Hash good mix of protein with crisp fresh veggies as well. Eggs cooked perfectly for a great way to start the day! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Casual atmosphere here to enjoy meeting with friends to catch up or just a solo enjoyable meal![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Made a reservation and was sat within 5 minutes on a pretty good rush. Had Carmen as my server, she checked up on us frequently and was overall a great server! Thank you to her! The food was also very good and was ready in an adequate amount of time. Recommend 10/10

My colleague and I came across this place our first night in DC, wanting to find something close to our hotel. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Kiera (sp?) who was very pleasant and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was busy, so it was loud, but not so loud where you couldn't talk and carry a discussion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the Chips & Dips to share and I went with the Prime Rib Dip sando. My colleague ordered himself a burger. The food overall was good; the prime rib dip was descent, but not the best I've had; the au jus was a little lackluster, but this is not the worst French Dip I've ever had. For me, I remember the service from our waitress being top notch and that stood out to me the most!

I have been to a Founding Farmers in a different state before. It was pretty good. This location in Foggy Bottom is cute. Parking is located on the street or public lots. You could also choose to take the metro in and walk. It is not a horrible walk, a few blocks. I highly recommend booking a reservation. We were seated within 10-15 minutes of our reservation. The food met all my expectations. The biscuits were fresh, and paired with jam. The bananas foster french toast was so sweet as to be expected, and so flavorful!. The thickness for the bread allowed for a soft center but a crispy exterior. But, my honestly my favorite was the blueberry pancakes really hit the spot. They may have been so simple but boy were they perfect. The breakfast tacos with the salsa also fantastic! That salsa was nice and thick and not watery. Our meals were great! No complaints. Our waitress was very attentive, and on top of things. She was always making sure we were taking care of. We really enjoyed our meal here and plan to return.

Founding Farmers DC Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Founding Farmers DC

Someone recommended a DC restaurant named Agraria, but my Google search led to your restaurant. Did the name change?

From what I see too that restaurant that was recommended changed to Founding Farmers

Google lists this restaurant as allowing BYOB. Is that true, and if so, what is the corkage fee?

Only a bottle of wine, according to their website: "Guests may bring in one bottle of wine per party…

It's only showing outdoor seating on Open Table--and it's February. Do they have space heaters?

Not great seating outdoors. I would get the indoor seating.

    How is parking?

There are a couple of parking garages nearby. Also street parking is available. However - as you might know - patience is necessary when parking in DC! I prefer walking / metro when those options are available!

    Do they deliver?

Hi, Linda! We do offer delivery through our website! https://www.wearefoundingfarmers.com/order-food-to-go-delivery/ -Kerry

Can you accommodate parties of 18?

Yes they can. Plan ahead, busy place.

Would we be able to sit outside with our dog?

    I'm sure you can.

Hello my plans fell through for a brunch gathering for 10 can you accommodate us this Sunday around 10 am?

Hi Donna! I am sorry to hear your plans fell through! I also apologize we did not have the availability to accommodate your party this time. :( This said, please know our full menu is always available for carry out or delivery as a secondary option.…

    Any gluten-free options?

Hi Zafar! We have items that can certainly be modified to be "gluten free" for a sensitive diet, however we do not have a Gluten Free menu and are not an allergen-free faciality (cross contact is a high risk and likely to occur in our scratch-based…

Are pets allowed on the patio?

Hello! We welcome well-behaved, leashed dogs on our patios. :) -Amy

    Do they have bottomless mimosas?

    No they do not

    Is there outdoor seating?

No they dont have a patio at this location

    What is the attire?

    Nicer casual

What vegan options are available here?

No true vegan options. Beyond burger, but bread is not vegan. Sides made with butter. Beyond meatloaf is not true vegan. Fries cooked in oil with meat. Very hard to eat vegan here. Asked for a substitution for avocado because they offered little…

Is the menu for brunch different from the regular breakfast menu? Also do they do brunch on Christmas Day?

Hi there! We offer both our breakfast & lunch menu during brunch on the weekend (served 9am-2pm). For Christmas Day, in the past, we have offered our full lunch/dinner menu from 11-8pm, however this is not yet confirmed for this year (our team is…

What is a good Lunch reccomendation?

Hi Cathy! It really depends what you're in the mood for- we have everything from pasta, sandwiches, seafood, salads, soups etc. :) -Amy

Is this restaurants appropriate for kids?

Actually we've taken our 7 year old. This is a downtown restaurant most often frequented (during the week) by "business people" during lunch hours or for after work dinner...BUT as other reviewers have said, kids can fit right into this friendly…

The folks on this side were very sweet and helpful. When we went over to "Wired" to get our coffees, there were a bunch of *other* treats over there, which nobody told us about, so that was annoying because then we would have ordered way fewer items. So we got a couple more goodies here as well as our iced coffees and a hot cocoa for our kiddo. The folks on this side were unfriendly and uninterested in customer service ("Just checking in on our quiche...?";"Oh, we totally forgot. We'll put it in now."). We weren't impressed with most of our items though some were better than others. Unsurprisingly, the cupcakes were the best; we got the nutella and "unicorn" ones, and both were moist with excellent frostings. We especially appreciated the filling in the nutella. The chocolate chip cookie was terrible--our daughter, a cookie fiend, refused to have another bite of it. We liked the novelty of the "orange dream" shortcake. As for the other stuff, the spicy sausage biscuit was not spicy at all and had the consistency of rubber. The quiche that finally came out was too oily, but we all liked the decadent cinnamon roll. Bit of a mixed bag all around, so we're settling on three stars. We ourselves won't be back, but others might have a better experience on a different day.
