Summary: be prepared to be nickel and dimed, the food is decent, service was okay. The restaurant is quaint, cute and clean. Very bright and spacious for how small it is. We were seated immediately with a 6 person party, so that was nice. Service was "okay". Our waitress was very friendly. However, when I asked for certain things, she did not disclose up front extra costs. For example, they have a kids' scrambled eggs and toast. Because I asked for the eggs to not be on top of the toast, they served the bread plain. So of course my kids wanted jam. It was $1 for just enough jam for one (maybe two) slices of toast. She didn't tell me this up front, so I found out when the bill came. It's more of an annoyance than anything. I also ordered turkey sausage because it's "healthier". Nowhere on the menu does it mention an upcharge and of course my server did not mention the upcharge. Had I known, I would have made a different choice for the meat. Not disclosing information seems very dishonest and a sly way to squeeze money out of each person. The food itself was pretty good. Just expect to be nickel and dimed for EVERYTHING. They also charge a surcharge of 20% (also not mentioned on the menu that I saw). I honestly would have tipped more because that's what I usually do, but having the automatic surcharge had me change my mind. I'd be back for sure if I were in the area. I'd just be aware of the prices and ask more questions when ordering.
I really enjoyed my first visit here. It's quaint with tons of natural light and moderately noisy, but appropriately so. It is a fan favorite among my family so I was delighted that I finally got a chance to try it with my younger sister on a Saturday morning. It wasn't too busy when we arrived about 10 AM. We were able to be seated right away in the window and it was honestly the perfect little breakfast. Our waiter's name was I believe Tyler and he had a ton of personality and was just overall great. I ordered the " you Bacon me crazy" sandwich and it was so tasty and literally packed with delightful, perfectly cooked bacon. I also tried a dirty chai but the anise finish wasn't really my cup of tea (pun-intended). My sisters did brown sugar lattes and they enjoyed. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this spot.
Great service. Minimal wait time as a party of 1. Everything order was wonderful, seasoned, and I truly wish I could've sat, ordered everything again that's house incredible my meal was. The TVs had different sports' matches on and eventually was packed. Definitely book a reservation ahead of time for a larger party.
I got the DL Egg Drop from I Egg You, and it was really good! It's basically an egg sandwich with bulgogi. Simple but delicious, even the bread is really good and soft.
This rate is3 star based on the server who is absolutely amazing and friendly very patient with dipping my first time, but unfortunately, the restaurant did not meet the expectations I had for this place. I ordered the shrimp and grits. My friend ordered the breakfast plate. Each came out to the table and I was honestly disappointed. I didn't know what to expect with the flavors. And the number one thing that ruined, the shrimp and grits for me was the amount of Parmesan it overloaded the plate that the smell was disturbing and made the texture of grits not to my liking. There were also only three shrimps in the entire dish just very underwhelming. Also, I was not happy with the freshly squeeze orange juice. It's not good at all. In my opinion overall, I will rate them at five out of 10.
Brunch at I Egg You was exactly what I needed before a full day of errands--good food, great service, and the perfect amount of indulgence. Rebecca took egg-cellent care of us--super attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. I ordered the OMG loaded potatoes and WOW... they lived up to the name. Loaded with bacon, layered sauces, and candied jalapeños that brought the perfect balance of sweet and savory. Every bite hit. My friend ordered the croque madame, and after one bite, I already know what I'm getting next time. Rich, decadent, and that cheese sauce? 10/10. We also shared the apple bread with pistachio butter, which was such a nice surprise--not overly sweet, just perfectly balanced and delicious. The artwork throughout the space was incredible, the vibe was fun, and the portions were so satisfying I stayed full for most of the day. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.
I was in the area getting my car detailed this morning and woke up with a real breakfast craving. A quick Yelp search led me to I Egg You, and since it's walking distance from Eastern Market, I said why not and headed over. First impression--cute spot, good energy, and a solid amount of space. It's giving neighborhood brunch go-to, but with a little edge thanks to the full bar and a bartender who's also pulling barista duty. Love that. I was greeted and seated pretty quickly, and I appreciated the transparency upfront about a few items being unavailable. Nothing worse than getting your heart set on something just to be told "we're out" after the fact. It was fairly busy but the main waitress, Anita, was on it! No problem though--I landed on the Croque Madame, and let me tell you... yeah, this is the one. Toasted ham sandwich on soft milk bread, covered in a rich fontina mornay and topped with a fried egg? Baby... DELICIOUS. I'd come back for that alone. And as someone who loves fontina, seeing it show up throughout the menu felt very intentional and very correct. I added a side of bacon and fruit, and for my drink, a hot dirty chai with brown sugar syrup on the side--because I like to control my own sweetness. Balance. All in all, this spot did what it needed to do. Good food, great vibe, and an easy place to pull up with friends, family, or even knock out a casual work meet. Safe to say--I'll be back.
This was a hard one to rate because the food and drinks were great but the service was a mess. We popped in around 2:20, they close at 4 but we wanted to get a sandwich and some drinks beforehand. When ordering I asked if they could sub vodka for tequila in this drink on the specials menu, because I don't drink tequila, and the waiter says "since it's a special so I don't think so" without asking the bar. I pivoted with my drink, all good. Around 3 our waiter let us know he forgot to put our order in. No biggie! I used to wait tables it happens. Then around 3:20 our food isn't out yet and another server drops off our check thinking we are waiting to leave. He did later apologize and he was not our waiter, so I don't wanna put him down because he was actually the sweetest ever!!! We did want a second cocktail but at that point, we just paid while we waited for our food. The burger was so pricey for no side and there's better burgers in DC so I'd not recommend this spot overall given the experience.

I also loved the pistachio butter I got on the side since it was pretty unique and loved that it wasn't tasty and had salt flakes. The fries were decent and wish it had some seasoning but was a nice addition to the sandwich. The dalgona coffee was pretty good and honestly loved that it was not sweet at all. Overall would recommend this spot for a quick brunch!

I've been ordering from here since they've been a ghost kitchen! I fell in love with their Bacon Me Crazy sandwich and their potatoes with old bay aioli. Always cooked to perfection and seasoned well. I love a good brunch but sometimes it doesn't travel well when it's delivered and whether in store or delivery the quality remains the same. I always recommend this place and everyone is always pleased with their choice.

Solid brunch spot on Capitol Hill, and better than the average DC brunch option by a meaningful margin. We split the DL's Egg Drop (the bulgogi breakfast sandwich) and the Hatch Green Chili sandwich. Both were well executed. The bulgogi brought some real depth to what could have easily been a gimmick, and the hatch green chili edged it out for me personally. The heat was there without being obnoxious, and everything held together the way a good sandwich should. Friends went with the shrimp and grits and had nothing but good things to say. The team behind this place (Scott Drewno and Danny Lee, also of Anju and ChiKo) knows what they're doing, and it shows. The sourcing is thoughtful, the execution is consistent, and the menu has enough going on to warrant repeat visits without feeling like it's trying too hard. I Egg You is a great little breakfast spot tucked into the Barracks Row neighborhood of Washington, D.C. I've always enjoyed visiting this area. It's full of interesting shops, great restaurants, and, surprisingly for D.C., relatively easy parking. The food was good. We ordered the bacon and sausage breakfast sandwiches, and both were enjoyable. The sausage sandwich was unnecessarily messy thanks to the crumbled pork, but the flavors were good. Nothing extraordinary, just a satisfying breakfast. I also ordered a Bloody Mary, which I'd rate a 7 out of 10. It had a nice amount of spice and a respectable flavor, but something was missing that would have made it memorable. I'd order it again, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. But the service, at least during my visit, was noticeably slow and lacked the attentiveness that makes dining out enjoyable. Would I eat here again? Absolutely. Would I choose to dine in again? Amazing service and amazing food. Allen and Victoria were especially friendly and had a great conversation with my wife and I regarding the many business that have came and went along that 8th Street corridor over the years. The food: we shared the shrimp and grits (the star of show) very hearty and an amazing texture with the perfect mix of cheese. The classic French toast with butter and maple syrup did not disappoint, paired with a side of bacon. We will be back for sure. Oh and the drinks were mixed to perfection by Allen as well. I visited I Egg You a couple of months ago with a friend for breakfast and just came across the photos on my phone. I had the DL Egg Drop and it completely blew me away. It was packed with flavor, fresh, and honestly one of the best egg sandwiches I have had in a long time. I could not even finish it, but they packaged it so well that it was easy to take the rest to go. My friend ordered the Original Egg Drop and kept saying mine looked fancier, which it did. Both sandwiches were great though and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and fast, and the space had a relaxed vibe that made the visit even better. I am absolutely baffled at how ANYONE can say that this place was good. Nothing, and I mean nothing, had any flavor. We ordered the matcha latte and the whipped coffee, both just tasted like oat milk. I ordered the cereal killer, no flavor. Ordered two of the "Washington Post Recommended" DL Egg Sandwiches, NO FLAVOR. Anyone saying otherwise has lost their mind. I have never had food be so bland and unfulfilling that I don't feel satisfied and I'm getting pancakes down the street at Eastern Market to feel better about wasting my money. Don't believe the hype or be influenced, save your money and eat elsewhere. I'm really disappointed because I was looking forward to this place. Definitely not coming back 0/10 for sure. read more

My friends and I regularly stop by I Egg You because of the convenient in location near Eastern Market. It's usually pretty tough to find a spot for brunch over the weekends, so we usually come in small groups or groups of 2. The food can be a bit heavy, but flavored well. I typically get the Potatoes since it's one of the few gluten-free ish options but my friends often get the platter. It's a great casual brunch spot, and service is medium-paced, with food coming out about 15-20 mins after ordering. read more
Didn't know a little egg spot could deliver so much flavor! Somewhat loaded taters: I was expecting tots but the little potatoes were still very good, the sauce was insanely good, the bacon was soft strips and not too salty or greasy rather than cheap crunchy bits that I'm used to, and the candied jalapeños were a tasty add to the whole flavor profile! DL's egg drop: tender bulgogi that wasn't stringy at all with another delicious sauce. Bread was nice and fluffy. I only wished that they had sauce more evenly distributed so that the bottom half of the sandwich had some too Hatch Green Chili: I don't gravitate towards green chili, yet this was my favorite!! There was so much gooey cheese and the sauce was tangy and delicious, the flavors melded together in a plate of tender, mushy goodness. Bean curd, done that: really mild in flavor compared to the other dishes, would pass on this. Vietnamese egg coffee: not a fan, expected it to be iced but came out hot, egg topping was flat and gooey rather than fluffy, coffee was weak and milky, which is not very "Vietnamese". this was one of the best meals I had in DC. Everything was amazing and the service was QUICK. We told the waiter we had to be at our museum reservation in 45 minutes and he made sure everything came out in a timely fashion. I loved the coffees and the DL Egg Drop was SO SO GOOD. My friend and I shared that + potatoes and it filled us up. I will be back agin next time I'm in DC:) read more

I had a pleasant experience at I Egg You in Washington, DC. We ordered DL's egg drop sandwiches, and they were the highlight of the visit. The eggs were cooked perfectly--light, fluffy, and well seasoned--and the milk bread was nicely toasted with a rich, buttery finish that brought everything together. We also tried the Captain Crunch French toast. It was definitely delicious and creative, but for my personal taste it leaned a bit too sweet. I Egg You doesn't do reservations, so you'll have to stop by and put down your name and info to be put on the waitlist if all the tables are full. The three of us were told an estimated 40 minute wait time this past Sunday afternoon, but a table opened up after 25! The interior is simple but they have some interesting art going on like Chef Egghead and Egghead guests. Our server was attentive and our food came out quickly after we ordered. Overall, we were in and out of the restaurant in under 45 minutes. PORK, IT'S WHAT'S FOR BREAKFAST - 10 This looks like a regular sandwich between two pieces of square-shaped toast, but it's anything but that. The milk bread was generously toasted with butter. Each sandwich is stuffed with minced pork sausage, fontina cheese, and a fried egg. Each bite was heavy, and I was done after half a sandwich. I enjoyed it, but it was too much for me. Fortunately, one of my friends ate the other half of my sandwich. TATERS: BASIC POTATOES - 9 +2.50 PUT AN EGG ON IT The egg gives the potatoes an extra jammy and creamy texture. The potatoes were nicely fried and smothered with their Old Bay aioli sauce and fresh parsley. It was good, savory and flavorful. These taters are less heavy compared to their other loaded options, but it was still pretty dense. This was shared and enjoyed among the three of us. Fair warning, the food here is heavy and dense. While it was delicious and flavorful, I personally can't eat too much of it at once. I'm glad I tried it, but unfortunately it wasn't for me! Came with high expectations since who doesn't love an egg forward brunch place with hints of Korean flavors but left underwhelmed. I Egg You is on bustling 8 st in Capitol Hill and has small signage but is pretty easy to find, especially when there's a line of folks waiting to get inside. Managed to get a seat at the bar with a minimal wait despite the line. They had cute egg themed decor inside and a fully stocked bar with great british baking show playing on the tv - vibe was on point. Bartender was really nice and made sure I was taken care of even though he looked pretty busy. Ordered the umami egg, original egg sandwich, oj, and brûléed grapefruit. -I was disappointed they had run out of the custard egg so got the umami, it was good but was surprised jt was cold. Would have tasted much better if it were served warm or at least room temperature imo -Original egg sandwich was ok but not sure if it was worth going out of the way for. Should have gotten the egg drop but felt kinda heavy for me at that moment, seems like others enjoyed it though -brûléed grapefruit was most regrettable. I had expected a crackly shell on top but was not the case and the granola was soggy. Do not recommend Overall experience was ok. I was so so excited to try this and came away a little lackluster, I've been following their opening, I'm a huge fan of Danny Lee so was glad to see a breakfast/brunch spot pop up. In true DC fashion, they boast a CRAZY drink and food menu, every inch of that menu is filled to the brim and it's a little overwhelming. We went during the cherry blossom season so there was SO much pollen and we did opt to sit outside. I will say, still thinking about the restrooms of that place grosses me out. It's so filthy. It was really hard to enjoy the space when the bathrooms are that bad. Our server was lovely, a little slow after we got our service but super friendly. We actually ordered the most decent amount of food, I tend to over order, the menu is HEAVY so be prepared but I did love their dishes. I do like that they carry Colombe but I was way too caffeinated to drink a coffee. I do think their egg and caviar is genius and their potatoes are perfect, but I can't get over the feeling it's not very clean. read more

A solid breakfast/brunch spot with every egg preparation you'd ever want! Came at 10:30am on a beautiful weekend and was able to walk in for a table of 2. Our waiter greeted us soon after and handed us their huge menu!! They have a large breakfast menu and a smaller lunch section. They also have a large variety of beverages. To start, I got the Vietnamese egg coffee. I knew it would be hit or miss and this was a hard miss. The egg foam wasn't as rich or thick as it should be and the coffee wasn't the bold Vietnamese coffee that should accompany it. Nonetheless, it was a tasty coffee, just don't expect an egg coffee!! There were a large variety of dishes, egg and non-related. I ended up getting the cereal French toast, scotch egg, and lox toast. Everything was lovely and tasted as expected. The French toast was sweet enough, I didn't use any of the syrup. Scotch egg was nice and meaty with a soft yolk--perfection! The lox toast had great flavor, BUT the bread tasted a tad stale. I would've preferred a more substantial bread for the toast vs white bread. The prices are definitely on the more expensive side, but everything tastes as described and service was lovely. The space is bright and is a great location to have a friends breakfast or a date! read more
Came around 10am on a Saturday for 5 people and pretty much got seated right away which was fantastic! Overall, our service was great! We got the umami egg which tasted extremely flavorful and unexpected. Not sure if I would order again, but glad I tried it! My husband got DL's egg drop which was recommended by our server ("best sandwich in DC"). The flavor was really good! Not sure I would claim it as the best in DC, though. I got the Hatch Green Chili Smothered Pork Belly which was so filling (such a big portion for me) and soo yummy! The pork belly was delicious! Definitely would love to come back to try other items on the menu :) read more
Grabbed a late lunch from here after googling food in the area. The owner took my order at the bar and she was so very kind and patient with me. She offered recommendations and told me about their regular specials, too! They even make fresh squeezed OJ! I was only here for to-go but will definitely be back to try out their drinks and other menu items! My breakfast sandwich was so good and buttery! The scotch egg was delish, as well! The establishment has plenty of seating and even a few outside! Parking in this area is always a hassle but it's a short walk from the Eastern Market metro stop! read more
I wasn't a huge fan of the full I egg you breakfast. The potatoes were well done on the outside but uncooked and hard on the inside. I asked for scrambled eggs and they were watery ( given I'm expecting and I need them well cooked). The service was okay, I had to get up and ask for sugar, honey, ketchup, straw etc constantly instead of being asked if I need anything or if I find everything okay. It was a clean restaurant. The DL's egg drop with good! I'd rate that 8/10. The service fee is automatically added, even though the service really wasn't great imo. Giving it 3/5 to be fair because of the D1 egg drop. read more
I felt lazy after a long week, so I sought a comfort meal on Uber Eats. The loaded potatoes and the breakfast quesadillas did the job. The quesadilla was pretty standard and I had no complaints; I hadn't had many loaded potatoes meals before but the creamy chipotle looking sauce and the jalapeños elevated this breakfast plate. read more
This is a great addition to Barracks Row. We went a surprisingly busy Monday morning. I split the I Egg You breakfast with my mom. We got an extra piece of toast. The truffle butter for an extra charge was a treat. The included fruit salad was delicious with kiwi, blueberries, and apples with chia seeds. We both got the lovely tea service and some fresh squeezed orange juice. FYI, 20% tip is added automatically. read more
Genuinely obsessed!! As a savory brunch fiend, I already love anything and everything with eggs...so a whole restaurant themed after eggs was right up my alley. The place gets a bit busy / crowded, and you can expect a bit of a wait unless you arrive first thing in the morning (especially since they don't take reservations). I came by for a Saturday brunch around 11 AM and had a ~45 min wait, which is honestly the perfect amount of time to wander around Eastern Market. I opted for the Bean Curd, Done That, a delicious open faced sandwich with perfectly crispy fried tofu, melty cheese, and a rich, flavorful brown butter fried egg (with a gorgeous runny yolk, of course). This, when paired with the creamy avocado and a punch of umami from the chili crunch, made for the perfect start to my Saturday. We also had to try out their somewhat loaded taters, which are perfectly crispy and coated with a rich fontina cheese sauce. Beyond the incredible food, I Egg You also has delightful vibes -- the staff is super friendly and attentive, despite how busy the restaurant always seems to be. The decor is adorable (and, of course, very egg-themed), and the space generally feels very cozy and warm. All in all, if you're looking for a fun, egg-centric brunch spot, I can't recommend I Egg You enough! read more

First of all eggs kind of gross me out, especially runny ones but everything was delicious! The restaurant is clean and the server was friendly and had a tom of recommendations. Croque Madame: 8/10. I subbed the fried egg for scrambled eggs and got maple and hot sauce on the side. It was really flavorful with the added syrup and gave it a sweet and savory combo. I didn't love the cheese it was smothered in though. DL's Egg Drop: 10/10. The sandwich is massive and the milk bread is thicc! Enough for 2 people to share. Fries: 10/10. Solid fries. Crispy and the aoli was hitting! Toad in hole: my friend enjoyed this a lot! I can't rate it because I didn't try it. read more
Finally got around to trying this newish restaurant and was delighted! The egg sandwiches were on buttered fluffy toasty bread. Just a solid breakfast sandwich. the star of the show was the French toast! So good. It was sweet but not too sweet, fluffy and moist. Filled with a sauce it was all around great. The space is medium, it was packed so I got my food to go. My order was ready within 10 minutes. The service was nice and the hostesses were very friendly and took time to explain the menu. read more
