Another Thursday and yet another great meal at The Admiral!!! Walking home from the office, we were both hungry and, when we saw the sign, our minds were made up! We both got the All American Burger and it was awesome! Piled high with extras like fresh lettuce, flavorful tomatoes, sharp onion, slightly spicy mayo - MORE PLEASE!!!! The bun was strong enough to hold up to all the ground beef, toppings and delicious beef drippings. The french fries were crispy on the outside, soft and hot on the inside!!! The service - this time from Samantha Co - was great as always even in a dining room that was packed solid. She took excellent care of us! Thank you, Samantha Co!!! Will we be back to The Admiral? So after my friend and I finished up at a bar, we needed food and I found this spot which led us here. It was straight up LOUD when we arrived due to the music; so loud I debated on if we should stay but we decided on sticking here after seeing there were a couple spots at the bar and less of a crowd there. The bartenders are attentive and patient, answering any questions you have. After ordering a couple beers, I ordered the chicken wings and a side caesar salad while my friend got the fish and chips. The wings are crispy although dry on the inside; fortunately you got the ranch for that; probably not something I would order again given the quality and price. The caesar salad is fine; nothing special, just fine. The fish and chips looked delicious and my friend enjoyed it. I probably should've gone with that but it was a large portion and I wasn't trying to leave on a full stomach. It's breaded nicely with some parmesan fries and a garnish of slaw. I can tell it's a favorite here. Located in Dupont Circle, this seems to be a favorite of the younger crowd which would explain the blaring music; especially on a Wednesday night at 930ish. The restaurant interior gives an upscale elegant vibe that suites the DC scene. Maybe I'll come here for lunch or on the weekend if I'm in the area but I'm too old for the loud music now. It's nothing we're not used to in DC and I understand it's on the street but to have them all over the place while you're trying to enjoy some drinks and the world cup is jarring. I hosted an event here, and it was a great experience! Our event happened to be on one of the nights where the US team was playing in the world cup, and the atmosphere was super fun. The Admiral was the perfect space for my college alumni club's fall reception. They reserved an area with some tables outside on the enclosed patio, and we had access to the outdoor bar. We really appreciate how we don't have to pay to reserve the space, just commit to a couple platters from the catering menu and have our guests open their own tabs. The catering menu is expansive and reasonably priced. We were able to order and pay for food in advance, and they brought it out at just the right time. It was just enough space for folks to mingle and catch up after the summer. The team was communicative and clear throughout the booking process and met all of our needs upon arrival, including finding painters tape so we could hang a flag, which was a very thoughtful touch. I hosted a pre-wedding after-dinner-drinks/desserts event at the Admiral this past Friday. Everything was fabulous!! Working with Mackenzie was easy and pleasant, the bartenders were awesome, and all staff was great. The food was also wonderful...especially the brownies (which were actually a chocolate mousse cake that all guests raved about)! We walked in to have a drink before we went to DC improv. There was space at the bar on a Friday around 6. We walked in right at 5:55 and were tried to order fast to get the happy hour price. The bartender knew exactly what were were doing and was able to get us all checked out exactly at 6 before happy hour ended. I got a decoy red blend and I'd say their wine pours were fairly heavy. I arrived 30min before our start time and waited less than 5 minutes to be escorted to our area in the back. The service and food were great. The bartenders were great and drinks were received quickly. My only complaint was that we had to split a back area with another group. We had a little over 30 guests but they only provided seating for about 15 so many folks has to eat and drink standing up. We had one 6 seater, one 4 top and one half of a 6 seater. Last night I stopped by The Admiral for a quick bite and drink after finding them on a late-night happy hour search. I arrived about 1 hour and 10 minutes before closing, ordered and paid within 5 minutes, and got my food quickly. I ate fast, aware they were winding down, and tried not to be a bother...even skipped asking for more ketchup or a napkin. Just as I had found my next spot, the bartender abruptly came over and said, "Hey, we're done, we're closed, you have to wrap it up." I was already about to leave, so the tone felt unnecessarily aggressive, especially with 40 minutes left before closing and another guest still sitting there undisturbed. Some friends and I came here for Friday happy hour and loved our experience. Inside is spacious but has a cool ambient vibe with mood lighting. I ordered The Captain drink, and we got some shareables to split. The drink was okay, a bit too strong for me towards the end, but the happy hour deals were great! The food was delicious though.
