We ordered two crop tops - it's a gin drink with a dash of red wine. We ordered while we were waiting in the standing room...and then we were seated...and we were still waiting...so it took a long while. With tip we paid $44 for two drinks. We decided to stop in here on a Saturday night. We got lucky where the space is small but a table just opened up. The place was packed and busy so the service was not the fastest. You get a small bowl of Cheez-Its and an expansive menu of cocktails. I got the should we be bad and I got to try the sluttiest of stone fruit where that one was more enjoyable than the cold brew one. I'm a fruit-forward person, so I enjoyed the lighter flare of drinks. There are also other types of cocktails that I'm sure others can enjoy. Because it was a private event, the crowd size was ideal. This spot is small but mighty- we came in around 2:15ish after they opened on Saturday and grabbed a bar spot - by 3 the place had a wait already so come early, especially if in a larger group. They have light bites like a pickled-tray and deviled egg dip, and provide a small thing of cheez-its with drinks. Their cocktail menu is extensive, but the staff is wonderful - we spent a lot of time chatting them up and having them make some off menu cocktails for us. We loved the bourbon and mint drink, along with all the other drinks - everything is very light and refreshing without being way too funky or too basic. Bathroom art is weird/ funny? We were able to walk in on a Sunday evening (Labor Day weekend). It's pretty lively and loud overall and workers were nice. Very cute bar that's on 14th street. It's a pretty busy area and when we walked in the bar was PACKED. It was just 2 of us but we didn't have a reservation. Spent one girls weekend in DC and this immediately became our favorite spot. The vibes, the drinks, the staff--all amazing. We had the best time catching up on life in a cutie booth with the sweetest waiter. The give complimentary cheeze-its. Bathrooms are clean and cute. This place is just so absolutely fun! I love that they start you off with waters and a light snack. The menus are really fun, inventive, and really speak to every buddies taste buds. The environment is super fun, and I love that they decorated for pride. The service itself is great. Jane Jane is a pretty cramped space with lots of crowds, and it is very loud. Overall, we had a hard time hearing each other because of the blasting music along with everybody around us who were also collectively talking loudly. My friend and I stopped by last week to enjoy some cocktails after dinner. We were given two snack samples: cheez-its and cheese balls. It seems like they are trying to open a new location eventually and they're trying to see if cheese balls would be a good hit. Personally, the two of us enjoyed the cheese balls more! Please note, this review is written by an inexperienced drinker (aka me), so take all of this with a grain for salt. Collectively, we shared the following four cocktails: GIN SOAKED FELON - 15 Very fruity and juicy from the grapefruit and lime. I can see why this one is a lot of people's favorites. MIMZY'S DELIGHT - 16 The honey in this one is nice and I could taste the earl grey notes. Citrusy from the lemon, but not too fruity or juicy. HOLE IN A CUP - 16 This was probably my favorite drink from the night because I like fruity drinks and the pineapple and lime were nice. I also didn't taste the alcohol as much compared to other drinks. I don't typically like cucumber flavors, but this one was fine. MARAVILLA - 16 I wanted to try this one because it had cacao/chocolate flavors, but this cocktail wasn't a good choice for either one of us. It was very bitter and I didn't like that. This one is more like an old-fashioned with some cocoa notes, and I learned that I don't really like this cocktail. Our bartender was nice and was attentive to make sure we had enough water. I have been twice. The first time was good, but the staff there were so rude to my party the second time that I don't know if I'll ever go back. First time: Met one friend for a cocktail early afternoon on a Sunday. Not crowded, seated immediately at a 2-top in the back. Pleasant server. Good drinks. Prices average for the area. Food menu is basically bar snacks, whatever. Ambiance is kitschy and cool, half tiki, half 50s retro. Loved the bathroom wallpaper. Good time. Second time: It was a Monday night in early June. I had four cousins still in town after my wedding two days earlier and who were leaving the next day. I rarely get to see them so my new husband and me and the four of them agreed to meet at Jane Jane at 9 pm for a party of 6. They don't take reservations and it is a pretty small bar so we knew we were risking it a little but also it was a Monday and there are a lot of other bars nearby so we went for it. We arrived and it was shockingly packed for a Monday, apparently because of Pride-related activities. There were no tables except one vacant two-top in the back and there was only one seat at the bar so obviously they couldn't seat us right away and that was fine. We asked to be on the wait list for 6 people. Herein lies the problem. We were told we would be put on the wait list for a booth. But booths seat 4, tightly. I pointed that out. The hostess said that yes, it would be a squeeze. Noting that there were 3 two-seaters in the back, I asked if we could grab the one currently vacant now and then grab the other two and move them together as they became available. The hostess says she will have to ask her manager because they aren't allowed to move tables. ??? She goes to ask, comes back, and tells me her manager said no and then proceeds to seat two people at the vacant two-top right in front of me, not even offering it in case two of our party, which was there first, might like to sit. Ok hold on. If we had come in as three groups of two, we would have been given that table and then had dibs on the other two tables in the back. But because we were a party of 6 we were like...shunned? I talk to my cousins and I'm like screw this place let's go, but one had already ordered a drink at the bar and we didn't want to rush him so we all chilled standing up while he enjoyed his cocktail. Another server comes to me and asks if we want anything, with a pleasant enough tone and expression. I am candid and say, "Well, actually, I think we're going to go because we don't like how we've been treated." Just like that, calm tone, not yelling. Dude's face changes to this scowl and the he spits out, "Well it's a small bar" and walks away. Ooooook then. So my cousin finishes his one cocktail and we leave and end up barhopping around 14th for the rest of the evening and have a great time. Later in the evening an hour or two later as we're changing venues we pass Jane Jane and now the place is almost completely empty even though they are open for another hour. Because, oh yeah, it's MONDAY. I point it out to my cousins and say we could probably sit together now and all of us simultaneously laugh and keep walking past and instead end the night at Barcelona, which was still quite crowded and lively, and we get sangria and are treated wonderfully until closing time. We sat at the bar, and the bartender was not only funny and personable but also fantastic at recommending cocktails. He kept us entertained all night, making the experience even more enjoyable! Recently stopped by on a Monday. No reservations to knowledge so getting there early in the evening was quite important. Very beautiful and intimate interior space for small pairings and couples. Lots of creativity and a unique selection of cocktails. Not the biggest food menu but complimentary cheez its for the table is a nice touch. I haven't been to Jane Jane since I strolled in during DC Pride about a year ago. I was in the area recently with friends and we decided to grab a couple drinks before heading to dinner elsewhere. My first drink was the "Everybody on Mute" cocktail. Obviously, I knew it was a Beyonce reference but I totally did not expect a miniature picture of Beyonce to be placed neatly on the top of the egg white foam cocktail! It was so amazing. Optics aside, it also tasted delicious too! For my next drink, I opted for a version of a hot toddy (I can't remember the exact name). It was a little fancier than your usual hot toddy with more herbs added making it really comforting and soothing. It also came in a cute mug. The service was quick and came with plenty of recommendations. The inside is really cute with lots of fun decorations - especially in December with the Christmas lights strung up on the ceiling.
