This was such a cool and unique speakeasy! I loved how small and cozy it was as it made the experience very personal. I loved the handwritten menus, but even better was the fact that they can make you a drink that you'll love based on what you tell them you like! Our server was great at listening to what we like and making us cocktails we loved. Definitely an experience more than just a bar!

We stopped by OKPB around 11 PM on a Saturday and were lucky enough to get seats without a wait (they close at midnight). This spot is easy to miss -- the door isn't on the main street and there's no large sign to mark it. You'll need to keep an eye out, then ring the doorbell to be let in. It adds to the speakeasy feel and makes the experience feel a little more secretive. For this visit, we sat at the bar, which I'd definitely recommend if you're planning on doing bartender's choice. It's easier to describe what you like, watch them work, and get some conversation in. The bartenders were friendly, and while the drinks they made were enjoyable, I did feel the "customization" leaned more toward picking from a set of known cocktails rather than fully creating something unique on the spot. The menu itself is short -- about 5 handwritten cocktails that change daily -- which adds to the intimate vibe. Bartender's Choice (Dominicana) Asked for something similar to an espresso martini. This version was smooth, balanced, and had a sweet foam on top that I loved. 3/5 Bartender's Choice (Caipirinha) Requested something light and refreshing. This came close to a mojito but less sour, less sweet, less everything but add bubbles. Easy to sip but a little too mellow for my taste. 2.5/5 Bartender's Choice (Darien Scheme) I asked for something sweet-but-not-too-sweet, refreshing, and a little sour. This leaned very sour -- passion fruit forward, tangy, and refreshing, but missing the sweetness I was hoping for to balance it. The brown sugar cube at the bottom added a little sweetness at the end, but not enough overall. Still good! 2.75/5 New Orleans Buck Ginger-forward with a nice mix of spice and slight sweetness. Less sour than the others, which I liked, but once I ate one of the candied ginger garnishes, the drink tipped too far into spicy territory. 2.5/5

Really cool vibe! We were seated within 10 minutes, which was great. They switch things up daily with a rotating menu of five drinks, but you can also ask the bartender to create something based on your preferences, which I loved. The service was excellent and the drinks were creative and well-made. My only complaint is that seating is pretty limited -- only about six spots at the bar and a few small tables. That said, the hidden speakeasy atmosphere was spot on and definitely worth checking out.

It's the perfect speakeasy! You show up to a black door and wonder if you're at the right spot. Ring the doorbell, wait a few minutes, and then a host will come down to get you. It's a small space, but surprisingly seats quite a few parties. Drinks change, so you'll see the handwritten menu when you get seated. Great service and ambience/lighting. Drinks was excellent!!

I really wanted to love this place after hearing so much about it, but the experience just fell flat. OKPB is a speakeasy in Mount Pleasant. It's fun finding the red door and ringing the doorbell to be let in. Staff was super friendly and the space was cute. Their gimmick is that they have a rotating list of cocktails every night or a bartender's special option where you tell them what sort of things you like and they make a drink for you. This is what they're known for and what I'd had people recommend trying. Unfortunately, it didn't work that way in practice. I asked for a drink made with tequila and got a drink made with rum, the one alcohol I'd asked not to get, that also didn't include the only flavor I'd asked for (coconut, which I feel is not a crazy unusual flavor for a bar to have?). In the end, they weren't confident they could make anything with those components, and I didn't want to have it not work again, so I gave up and just ordered an amaretto sour. I wish they'd just told me they couldn't do it from the beginning instead of bringing me something that was the complete opposite of what I'd asked for. The amaretto sour was good (well, it's a drink I already know I like), but it was just like what I'd get at any other bar. I was kind of sad because I don't think I asked for anything too demanding or out there, and I'm sure they have tequila in the bar, but in the end it didn't come close to anything I'd requested. I wouldn't go back based on my experience. I feel like I paid $16 for a drink I didn't want and that just wasn't that good. I had a good time with friends and the space is cute! There are no reservations and space is limited, so get here early if you do want to try it out. Honestly, though, I can't recommend it. It was a lot of money for what ended up being a pretty negative experience, and there are a lot of better bars in DC. 2.5 stars, rounded down because of the price point vs. quality.

Cute little spot that would be great for dates. Because there is limited space, volume inside doesn't get crazy which creates a much more intimate vibe. The hostess was very pleasant and transitions in and out were smooth. For an ideal experience, come as pairs. 3 or more will be waiting a while. The drinks were nice, ordered an amaretto sour (not on menu) and the new orleans buck. Both were tasty. And then I ordered a gin fizz because well we're at a speakeasy, sorry not sorry (don't worry I always tip more when I order this drink). It was light on the heavy cream and heavy on the soda water but still passed the float test. Decent taste but won't be ordering it here twice.

Menu - The image shows a handwritten cocktail menu on lined paper, listing drinks such as Wayfair Cocktail, Olive, Tia Juan, The Called Shot, and Chip Chin, with ingredients like vermouth, gin, tequila, and apple cider. Logos and prices are also visible, including a logo with 'OK-PB' and a lighthouse graphic. The menu includes prices for cocktails and nuts, with some decorative elements and stylized text.

Okay, I see why people talk about this spot. The speakeasy vibes are ALL there! As long as you have the address, it's fairly easy to locate, though it may not be immediately obvious. When you arrive, you will be asked how many are in your party... and thankfully everyone doesn't have to be present. I see why they ask this too! The place is SUPER small! I'd say it can maybe fit 15-20 people max? The bar has 5 seats, and there are a few tables that I'd say can fit no more than 3 each. Also, it's dim, but not so much that you can't see things. Anyways, the drink selection looks lovely... but none of those are on happy hour Happy hour is from 5-7 and includes martinis, manhattans, mules and Fitzgeralds, a tasty Gin-based cocktail. I settled for the latter and was a huge fan! I later had a dry martini but the Fitzgerald was my favorite. I arrived around 5, and it got crowded around 6. If you're sitting at one of the tables grouped together, it can feel a little tight... during the peak of COVID, I feel like this probably wasn't okay. Anyways, the staff were super attentive, and the vibe of the place was awesome. Definitely a top speakeasy -- and affordable (especially during HH). By the way, I won't spoil it, but I LOVE the bathroom area. You'll have to go yourself to see why.

Wish I could give this place 10/10 because it was truly that great (drink wise I'm talking here). Firstly, no food, but it's around so many good food places in Admo, it would not be difficult to find. I got Clyde cocktail (scotch vermouth cacao absinthe)- and it tasted like a smooth chocolate . Un-freaking-believable I also got the Fitzgerald cocktail --perfectly refreshing. They have no waitlist so it's first come first serve so you have to line up right at opening. They only have 20 or so seats. The service is also amazing! They're so attentive to your requests. Ambiance is very dark and intimate, lovely for a date. Highly recommend !

OKPB would be 5 stars except they messed up one of our Bartender's Choice cocktails. I visited on Sunday at ~7:30 PM and they seated by party of four right away. We got a very cute booth (the only one) in the back. There are also some seats at the bar and some two tops. The menu of the day was pretty short: a rum swizzle, a gin and sherry cocktail, a bourbon cocktail, a riff on French 75, and a rye brandy cocktail. Our waiter suggested we go with the Bartender's Choice, which all four of us did. They did a good job making cocktails based on our description except for one. My companion specifically asked for a drink like the first one on the menu, except sweeter and more like a tiki drink. Instead, he basically got the drink on the menu -- rum, lime, mint, bitters, and crushed iced. Basically, the exact wrong thing. I would have sent it back, but he demurred. But, they shouldn't have gotten it wrong in the first place; the onus is on them, not him. Otherwise, I liked the vibe and the cocktails.

Quill - A cocktail with a lemon wedge garnish is positioned on a dark bar counter, accompanied by a glass of water on a napkin. In the background, bar tools including metal jiggers, straws, and a metal shaker are visible, indicating a bar setting. A smartphone with a dragon sticker on the case is also on the counter. The scene appears to be in a dimly lit bar or cocktail lounge.

Cool speakeasy with a solid drink list and intimate space. Bartenders were also very skilled at their craft and delivered some great dealers choice drinks. Being from Chicago, I thought the price point was pretty fair for craft cocktails at 16 a glass. The space is not so big so there was a wait time but as long as you get your name on the list, you can hit up a dive bar nearby.

This cocktail bar is great. It has speak easy vibes. They have a bell to ring to be seated inside with minimal seats and a cozy vibe. You will want to get there at 5 when they open or you could be waiting for a while. The cocktails are on the higher side at $16 a piece but they are quality. We had a great experience with all of the staff, especially Thomas. If you're looking for a great cocktail bar, this is your place. I highly recommend the amaretto sour! They can make a variety of drinks outside of the menu but there is a menu available that rotates and changes daily!

Hole in the wall GEM! It's a speakeasy, so ofc it's a hole in the wall but I was so impressed with this little place! We got there late on a Thursday so ofc there was a wait time which was worth it. The host at the door greeted us with such a positive friendly attitude and let us know it'd be about an hour which was exactly how long it took. He even shared some nearby places we could hang out before returning! The ambiance is dim, sensual and cozy. I think it's a cool spot to show off if you have a date. I mean the bathroom doors are bookshelves. That's cool! I don't think big groups are a good idea because there's only about 30 people that can fit at a time and so pairs are easier! But the servers are also amazing and friendly and the menu is literally written on a piece of paper because that's how often it changes. I loved that! Unpredictable. And the reason we were there, the drinks. Well, I'm pretty sure they can't make a bad one! I had the airmail and it didn't disappoint!

The tall drink was a blackberry "rye sizzle" or something like that, and the left was a "bartenders surprise" w fruity notes and gin.

10/10 experience let's cut to the chase. Very nice chill speakeasy vibes (on a weekday, don't even try on fri/sat). Our server was very nice and explained that every night the menu is different, and that we could get a "Bartenders Surprise" after answering some questions like allergies, liquor preferences, etc. I got one thing off the menu and one surprise and both were awesome but both my friend and I were especially pleased w our surprises :). Will be back!

It's a sexy basement vinyl den with additional outdoor seating, 10/10 unique cocktails, and incredible Japanese inspired small plates. Between two visits, we have tried 6 different drinks. They are named after songs and listed on the back of a fake vinyl cover. Each costs around $20, but with the mandatory tip and tax, it comes to around $26-28 per drink. The since I left you, though, is worth every penny. It is similar to an old fashioned but a little sweeter, with bourbon (makers mark), and while the menu says it also has miso, blackberry, cardamom, and cacao, I wouldn't say those flavors come through. But it is one of the best cocktails being served in DC right now. It is so good. They serve it with a cardamom tuile that is delicious as well. There is a lot of variety on here, but my number 2 is the Roses, a bright red gin based drink with a hint of fruitiness and a spicy kick in the back end. If you want something a little sweeter, the Takeover is a cognac based drink with coffee notes served with a mini donut. The food is exceptionally well seasoned and so flavorful. The fried chicken cannot be missed, and I love that you can get it in half or full size portions. The shrimp tempura might be even better. You get four large pieces that are super crisp and have a little orange sauce on them. Amazing. Our second visit we tried their chips and dip, and these potato chips alone are worth a visit. Large, crunchy, and served with a tasty ranch dip. I think 2 dishes is good for two people to fill you up, but add a third if hungry. The place is quite expensive, but they are worth it. For a date night, they are a great choice. Four drinks and three dishes shared between two people came to around $195, but as of this review, they are offering a $30 off deal if you pay through the app In Kind. Bonus points because the first time we came, they seated us maybe 5 minutes after our reservation time, and they gave us a free glass of cava. Top notch customer service right there

This bar is sweet -- awesome music, a neat menu, truly craft cocktails, and a unique menu. We tried several cocktails and each was delicious - from spicy to sweet, they don't miss. We also tried the cheese burger egg rolls and the tuna hand roll. The food is expensive for what you get but it's advertised to be small bites, not a meal. The egg rolls felt like remixed in n out, and as a Californian, I was grateful. Why not 5 stars? With the premium pricetag, I do expect premium service. The bartender was more interested in chatting with some folks he knew who came to sit at the bar. He also spent a lot of time chatting up the couple next to us, so do sit at the bar if you're feeling social. However, for the spare attention he did provide us, he was a bit condescending when we asked for a different glass for a drink that came in a bowl. It was slow until the very end of our stay and yet there were several times where I had an empty glass for a long period (and wanted to order more) or needed water. FYI for 6 drinks and a few bar bites it was $165... we went for a cheap burger dinner afterwards!

The head of house asked about a reservation and my husband said he was hoping to get 1-2 drinks, bar spots were fine. He noticed a group of 4 girls waiting as well- he was then told the bar was full and the 2 open spots were not to be filled at the group of 4 had first dibs on them. This makes 0 sense because one person could have easily filled them but I digress. On top of that, when my husband asked what time they could potentially get him in, as he did not mind waiting, they told him 11:30PM.
