Came into mission for brunch before a nats game on a weekend. We made a reservation beforehand and were escorted upstairs to a table. The interior is quite spacious with a modern feel. The upstairs bar is also very large and there was live music playing. Our server was helpful and quick, the prices were reasonable as well. My breakfast bowl was delicious, it had eggs, cheese, chicken, and tortilla strips in it. The green sauce was a little too spicy for my liking but overall it hit the spot. My friends tacos looked and tasted delicious. The bathroom lights were cool and the area was well maintained. Loved this location because of how close it is to the stadium and bull pen! My wife and I decided to go to Mission Navy Yard before a Nationals game. We decided to sit at the bar and order some food and drinks for brunch. We were immediately given two glasses of water while we looked over the menu. While looking over the menu and deciding what we wanted, we noticed that there were numerous people coming to stand beside and around us to order drinks and food. We also noticed that the bartenders at the bar were also serving the tables that were behind us as well. We were surprised to see that there were not waiters serving those tables. Because of this, you had people who were sitting at the tables behind us getting up and coming to the bar to order food and drinks, as well as people in general, walking up to the bar to order food and drinks. This made things very chaotic. As me and my wife were attempting to place our order, the bartenders continued to prioritize people who were coming to the bar after us. This went on for about 10 minutes. I then went to the hostess on the first floor and asked him if we could go upstairs. He said that we could go upstairs no problem, but it would be a similar situation to ordering like it was downstairs. I asked him will we be able to get a table upstairs and have a waiter instead of attempting to order food and drinks at the bar like we are doing downstairs? He told me that if we were to go upstairs we would still have to order our food and drinks at the bar. After waiting for about another five minutes and continuing to be ignored at the bar, I decided that I had enough and told my wife that we were leaving. This is a horrible concept! Having bartenders serve people at the bar is one thing. But, to also have those same bartenders serving numerous tables as well, to the point where the people who are at the tables have to come up to the bar and place their food and drink order, is madness. Especially when the bar and the whole downstairs level is packed before a Nationals game. This is very inefficient and leads to a horrible customer experience. Also, if this is going to be the concept that you go with, you will need more than just two bartenders to be able to handle that amount of traffic. read more

I had the queso, a diet coke, and their signature wings, all of which were good. It was missing that sports bar vibe as it was a bit empty, but service was a little slow. Mission at the Navy Yard stands within steps away from Washington Nationals Park. Prior to my visit, I do recognize other options were favored based on recent reviews, but I took the chance, and I do regret it. Be it an off day or the standard of service in this restaurant, Mission was not it for me. Disappointing. On the day of my visit, IDs were being checked at the door. And it went downhill from there. Arrived on the 2nd floor and was told service would be quicker sitting at the bar versus at the bartops. The bartenders on the day of our visit seemed really spaced out. It may be the combination of bombardment of crowds from the game and heat, it has been a while since I received service with very poor interaction. Cold, hesitant, and impatient. Orders were simple, as offerings of the day are simple. Nothing complicated, but chips, salsa, and tacos... the meal was bland and passable. Goodness gracious, no thank you. My only complaint was that it was so loud inside. We could barely communicate with our server. We were not told how or if we could sit outside. A fun place to end the evening with dinner. After going over to enchant at Nats park a few friends and I went to Mission. Definitely a cool vibe in restaurant part and also there was a bar area but we had someone under 21 with us so we had to go to the restaurant which was totally fine. We started with some quaso and chips. Which was pretty good. Had a nice heat to it along with gooy cheesy. Would recommend starting with it. I got enchiladas with Carnitas. It was well cooked with cheese full melted along with the carnitas. The carnitas was well seasoned was just a little over done and tasted a bit dry. It was well balanced with the enchilada sauce which was the star of the dish and created a great balance of savory and spicy. My friends got tacos and the dinner burrito. Everyone said they really liked it. Overall the next time Im in navy yard I will be back and would recommend to others. read more

I was early for a presentation i had to give in the area, and there was going to be no gluten free food there so i stopped at mission for tacos and a margarita. When i saw they had a guy at the door checking ids i got excited because that usually means its a vibe. There was only 7 of us in the bar area downstairs but i kept seeing people go upstairs for brunch, and the music sounded like a dj. It was afro beats and hip hop which hyped me for my presentation. Tacos were bomb but they took a little while - guessing the place was packed. The strawberry margarita was good. The water cup tasted like it had remnants of previous fruit drinks in it - like on a cruise ship on the pool deck w their plastic cups. The food and vibes here was lit! We came after the Nats game cause apparently this is the hangout spot after the game ends. We were able to find a table for 7 of us. The food was unexpectedly really good and the drinks were great as well. When you go up to the second floor it seems less like a sit down spot and more like club vibe. We held our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks this past weekend for our wedding at Mission-Navy Yard and cannot speak highly enough. The planning process with Elizabeth was easy and simple, the service was fantastic and everyone loved the vibe. The entire restaurant is ADA accessible and that was a huge plus for us as we had a couple people who needed accommodations. I've been to Mission in Navy Yard a few times and it's always a solid option. Pretty good Texas Mex food. This most recent time we came with a kid and she thought her kids beef taco was too spicy so they brought her a chicken taco for free and then also some churros which was so sweet! They really went above and beyond. My burrito was also tasty and hit the spot. A bit pricy for Tex mex food but very on par with other navy yard restaurants. read more

Quick service and in the running for best happy hour by the stadium. Have stopped in here a couple times this week once for dinner and once for a second shot at their happy hour. The good. Service here is blindingly fast. It was not a game day either time we stopped in and the place is pretty big with a lot of bar space so maybe we got lucky but both times we were in the kitchen had our orders out almost before we were finished placing them. The happy hour is also pretty good for the area with a solid margarita on tap for $28 a pitcher. With about 6 drinks per pitcher that is one of the better drink deals we have found in the neighborhood. They have a couple other cocktail pitchers and some food on the happy hour as well allowing a couple to get dinner and a few drinks for two at ~$60. The mediocre. The food is not going to blow anyone's mind. We had the chips and salsa, fish taco, carnitas taco, and street burrito. They were all pretty middling examples of tex-mex food, when we came back it was for the margaritas. The bad. No complaints, both nights were pretty quiet so I would have to go back on a game night to see how they handle more of a crowd. Side note... the music choices in here were wild for a tex-mex sports bar the first night there were playing early 2010s hip hop (like Lupe Fiasco) and the second night there were playing 2000s indie-folk. Was looking for a late night eat and decided to pop in here on a Friday night! Located in the midst of navy yard, with other bars / spots to eat in the area as well. They'll check ID / bags upon entry. When we got in because it was around midnight, so there wasn't really any staff to seat us, so we walked in and up the stairs and the bartender said there was not table service so we just by the bar. Part of the areas were covered with people dancing and the other part towards the back was a bit more calm with people socializing. They had a late night menu available and decided to order loaded waffle fries with chicken as well as chipotle chicken rollups. At first they actually forgot to add the chicken to our loaded waffle fries and so when we alerted the staff, they went to the kitchen and the kitchen sent them back to check that it was truly missing (it was clearly missing lol). Either way they eventually fixed it and brought out a bowl of chicken and we put it on top ourselves, but the fries were cold at that point so that definitely ruined the experience of it. The chicken rollups were fabulous especially with the lime on the side bringing out flavors. Tip: ask for extra lime to put all over those. It comes with an avocado ranch. Some of the staff didn't seem too happy, but could attribute that to the environment of many people and a long day. A special shoutout to the lovely person working at the bar to help rectify our food situation mentioned earlier. Bathrooms are relatively clean with cool highlights around the mirrors. I think they also have an event space called Cactus room for private parties. Also the music is great with variations of rap, old-school hits, classics, etc. The vibe of people that come are also great bringing good energy to dance, but also a lot of people casually eating like we were! Overall this would've been a 5 if we didn't have that experience with the missing chicken/cold fries, but would return / definitely give this place another try!!! read more

First of all, I do not recommend they do not take cash or Apple Pay. This is not stated anywhere in establishment Went to the bar for Monday happy hour ordered the nachos and a margarita pitcher. I attempted to pay on Apple Pay they would not accept. I attempted to pay in cash. They also would not accept after transferring the money to my debit card. I gave my card to Aaron to keep my tab open. He proceeded to bring me back the bill when I did not ask for my tab to be close When I went back to the bar to order some more items. It was confirmed that Aaron had closed my tab and would not reopen. It insisted that I was very sketchy with my payment. I let him know that I never asked for my tab to be closed. I did ask to speak to a manager apparently he is the manager, Aaron was very unaccommodating extremely rude and had no sense of hospitality. I've come here many many many times as I live in the area, but I will not be returning. read more
