I came to Takoda to meet up with a friend for Happy Hour. The location is great! There is a metro, buses, and a parking lot across the bar, which always works great for friends coming from various locations after work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating was first come first serve, and we had no issues getting a table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered our drinks and food at the bar and you are given a number so your items can be delivered to your table. Everything came out in a timely fashion. The menu is limited and sticks to your bar food items (think tater tots, chicken wings). [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're expecting a big dinner I would say come here for pre-dinner drinks, but if you are looking for a casual spot to hang out with friends on a summer evening this spot should be in your rotation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

DC Vice (halfway consumed because it was good)

I love all things frozen and sweet and the DC Vice was both so I liked it. 9/10. The house fries with truffle oil was amazing. Perfectly crispy. I sat at the bar and the bartender was in training. She was nice. Ambiance is chill bar vibe. Probably worth it to come during happy hour (4-6pm). Don't dress up. Perfect after work spot.

I've been to Takoda a few times in the past and have always had a positive time. However, this happy hour visit my friend and I had was lackluster. To preface, if you open a tab, it automatically charges $50 to your card. I feel as though that should be explained prior. Additionally, it is stressful to have to confirm you have received your refund. The fries were tasty and the drinks were flavorful, which really made me hopeful that we would have a fun experience. However, as we were ordering more off their menu, my friend was met with hostility from the bartender that was uncalled for. The ambiance is beautiful and perfect for a summer day with friends, but the service does need significant improvement.

First impression: what a vibe! Location: this location is in Navy Yard right next to the Nats Park garage. Easily metro accesible on either train or bus! Venue: the second floor was GORGEOUS. The wrap around bar, beautiful decor and numerous windows gives the place some beautiful lighting at sunset. We went to the rooftop before the Nats game ended (we didn't know there was one happening) and were able to order our food and drinks before the huge rush of baseball goers flooded the space. It was cool to see how lively its gets but can definitely be a little overbearing for a small space even if outdoors. We were able to find a table with seats and enjoyed everything. I believe our drinks were $14 and the boneless wings not more than $15. I think we got like 6 decent size pieces on each of our plates and were full when we left. Drinks were also strong and super good! I would definitely come here again, check 'em out!

Location Across street from Nationals stadium. Parking We walked/ metro'd-parking for fee in this area Service Rose was fantastic-friendly, fast, informative about the menu and area. Atmosphere Casual and relaxed vibe-has an upstairs that the bartender welcomed us! Both areas have large tv's-sports. Rooftop has great view of the yard. Food and beverage Mule-outside anding-fresh ginger House sparkling-AMAZING House red-sparking, dry, I was not a fan but my husband liked it. Fish n chips-see picture-3 battered lightly fish pieces that were moist and delish. Two sauces accompanied and were both so yummy I got them to go! My husband said it was the best. Comes with cole slaw and fries that we substituted with a salad that was much larger than expected. Summary What a great find! Casual bar with optional roof top-outstanding service, food and drinks! Happy hour til 6. Can't wait to return soon.

Drinks were weak. Tried 3. 2nd one was better... 3rd. Meh.... Although the gentleman waiter and view was nice, would recommend a better establishment, if you can find one.

I have to say, THIS is the better Takoda! I really enjoyed the atmosphere here, the staff here are very friendly too. Prices are decent for the area, my boyfriend was a fan of the 6 shots for $36! We got a table and we were presented with the game "Truth or Drink", which made the experience even better. The Manager Daniel took us upstairs to view the rooftop and was super helpful, he even let us know about upcoming events and our options for renting it out. I'll definitely be back at this location soon!

I came here for an event and their sangria was tasty and did the job! Rooftop is a nice area too. Bouncer was friendly. Staircase can be a tad bit scary but it's fine!

We came up to the rooftop and the view was great (the ballpark is right there!) but what made it really special was our bartender, Anthony.

We were initially going to go to the karaoke bar next door but when we walked inside, it was wayyyy too loud and obnoxious so we were like perfect let's go across the street! We walk into the ramen spot and ask where the speakeasy is and the guy led us to the back and showed us to some stairs to go down. Seriously, how COOL is this place??? The neon lights were so fun! We walked into the bar and immediately loved it! Good amount of bar seating plus some comfy couches and whatnot. There was music but it wasn't too obnoxious, we were still able to have conversations - it was surprisingly chill and exactly what we were looking for. Chatted to the bartender who made some fancy shots for us, had a few drinks. It was not busy at all on a Sat night which was nice. It is very dark inside even with the neon lights so it does make it hard to read the menus (had to use flashlights on our phone). But super fun spot, fun drinks, not too expensive, and a neat and chill experience! It was an excellent find for us for sure!

Overall, the menu reads like a neighborhood cocktail bar with chef-driven bar food: playful, nostalgic American comfort dishes paired with a serious and historically influenced cocktail program. The bartenders provide top notch service and offer great recommendations. My water glass is always full and they check in often!

Trouble Bird was the answer to my prayers on a recent trip, where I was looking to have high quality drinks and a laid-back NON-commercial vibe with my team. We liked it so much, we came twice in one week, and I was impressed at their ability to handle and be comfortable for a large group in a space that can feel intimate. The lighting is nice and moody, the menu available via QR code, and the WiFi free and listed with password for patrons to use. We had excellent service both times, by the two folks working each night for a groups of 6-8 each time. There was something for everyone from the nondrinkers to the beer enthusiasts, to cocktail aficionados like myself. There's an amazing happy hour deal, with discounts on drinks all Monday and reduced prices for a couple of hours on other weekdays; it almost felt criminal how generous the happy hour was when I've gotten used to paying $20 for a mediocre cocktail at other nearby establishments. And the cocktails here are really very good, probably the best in the area, except for their immediate next door neighbor. The group favorite cocktail was the Midori sour which was incredibly well balanced and refreshing, and the surprising crowd pleaser was the Hamilton Dry Float, which came in a creepy tiki mug presentation that we really loved. We had a couple of the bar bites - the spiced peanuts were well loved across the group but my person favorite food item was the blistered shishitos, which came with a great chipotle aioli. The bathrooms are extremely clean and overall this was a bar favorite for the group for our week of going out and socializing together. Overall this is a gem of a neighborhood hangout with really excellent cocktails and service! Will absolutely come here next time I'm in town!
